[Q] Custom Recovery Doesn't Work Anymore

Hello,
I've rooted my own note 3 and flashed Temaseks unofficial cm 12 rom. Everything works perfect so I decided to do the same thing for my father. It all went well, first I rooted his phone, then I flashed CWM and flashed cm 12 by temasek. The rom works fine but I forget to install the Gapps. So I tried to install Gapps but I got an error "Failure Status 6". I googled on that error and someone told it has to do something with CWM. I tried to flash a different version of CWM but now I can't reboot into recovery mode anymore. So I can't flash anything.
I flashed another version of CWM but this one also doesn't work. Whenever I try to boot the phone into recovery mode, the blue line shows up. Rebooting into recovery mode, but after a few secs, the phone just boots the normal way. Is there anyone that can help me to get CWM back to work? In the mean time I'll try to flash TWRP by Odin.
Thanks in advance!
So I flashed latest version of CWM: Buildversion; 6.13.0, CWM Base Version V6.0.4.7. I can reboot into recovery now but still can't install Google Apps due to failure status 6. On my own Phone I run a different version of CWM, but when I try to flash it, the phone won't boot into recovery mode anymore. It only boots into recovery when I flash this V6.0.4.7 . How can I get rid of this version and flash an older version of CWM?
You'll probably have to Odin back to stock and start over...

You mean If there is no other way to get the Google Apps on the phone, I have to go back to stock. I did make a backup with CWM on the while it was running custom firmware. Now I have 4 files on my comuter, 3.tar and 1.md5 . If I recover them, I will still have this not working CWM version on my phone right? Isn't there a easier way to delete CWM, can I flash TWRP over CWM and see if it will install these Gapps?
Yeah, you should be able to flash TWRP over it. TWRP is much better anyway, in my opinion. Once you get the recovery issue sorted, I really wouldn't't recommend trying to flash just the gapps. It would probably work, but it's also quite likely to cause some weird issues. It's always best to flash gapps immediately after flashing a ROM, without leaving recovery.
I would flash TWRP, wipe everything but your internal SD, re-flash the ROM, flash the gapps, and everything should be cherry.
Edit: here is the link to download TWRP.

I appreciate your effort, thank you. The recovery issue is solved. I flashed Chainfires Root script and that installed the stock recovery. However, when I tried to install and older CWM version I got back in the recovery reboot cycle. But once I installed the latest CWM it booted in recovery. So I flashed Chainfires Root once again and had the stock recovery back. From there on I tried to install TWRP but got the recovery boot cycle again. My phone is now running android 5.0.2 and I think that's the problem.... :S I'll try again to flash Chainfires Root script to get the stock recovery back. From there on I will try to flash the link you gave to me with Odin and hope that will fix it. Do you have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Your version of TWRP works so far. It reboots into RecoveryMode. Now I'll wipe and try to install Temaseks Cm 12 followed by Gapps! Thanks so far!
Okay, it's solved. Can't thank you enough for you help. Bless you!!
No problem. Glad you got it figured out!

TWRP Auto boot

Helped a friend recently to install custom recover (TWRP v. 2.8.7.1) so she could install a Kit Kat rom, as she doesn't like Lolipop at all.
Anyways, since we did this, TWRP keeps auto booting. Is there any way to disable that and instead boot straight into the system?
your phone its now without os .... so you will get TWRP Auto boot.. try install stock rom then install twrp via odin
We still can boot into the os trough TWRP.
It's just autobooting instead of going straight to the os.

Phone on boot loop after flashing stock ROM but have no custom recovery installed

I just installed Lineage OS and it works fine. Problem is there is no Google apps play store so I need to get Gapps
But in order to get Gapps flashed I need to reboot into custom recovery like CWM or TWRP.
I couldn't figure out how to install CWM or TWRP at the first place so kinda ignore it thinking nothing will happen.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3651542
I flashed LineAge OS with TWRP app downloaded from Play Store, the phone prior to bootloop was rooted.
I used odin on my PC to flash to stock rom and it just gives me bootloop, the samsung logo just fades in and out like on a bootloop
Samsung G903W is the model number
hi did you get it to work?

I would like some help please

I kind of messed up. I have had no issues up till now. I have flashed Baikal os and found there were problems with youtube. I figured it was just that rom then found that every other rom I tried had the same issue. I flashed the stock Nougat (on accident mind you) and thought I could just do the update to 8.1 oreo. The issue is that it restarted into twrp. From there, I can't boot into any rom. I haven't tried stock rom but everything I have tried does not work. When twrp is finished flashing both the rom and gapps, I clean (sometimes not) the cache and restart into system. It keeps rebooting into twrp instead of into the rom. What should I do? I have never had this issue before...
Update: I can only boot into my phone if I boot from the bootloader. I can't boot from recovery, like clicking on boot into system from recovery.
Update # 2: using the tool by drtechie, I flashed the Oreo stock firmware/rom. The issue is that even with the recovery wiped, something keeps making my phone try to boot into recovery. I got the screen for people who dont have a custom recovery installed. Still clueless. Getting desperate because I kind of want my g5 plus back...
Factory reset your phone from twrp
I don't understand exactly what you are trying to say but if your problem is "Twrp bootloop means no matter what you do you are not able to get out from twrp" than type this in twrp terminal
In twrp terminal :
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/7824900.sdhci/by-name/misc
And again reboot to recovery. Flash any rom now you will be able to boot into system

You didn't specify your exact phone model, so assuming KLTE
AFAIK aroma does not work well with our TWRP
Can you pull the battery and then boot directly to recovery so you can wipe system/cache/Dalvik and then flash the ROM again?
If recovery is messed up, can you pull battery, then boot to download mode so you can reflash TWRP in Odin/Heimdall, or better yet flash latest stock Rom (caution if you have a g900V/A with stock locked bootloader) in Odin/Heimdall, followed by TWRP?
Post again if you need more help, and try to include as many specifics as possible eg exact phone model, TWRP version, Rom zip filename, Gapps, etc. I'll try to help if I can
I am very sorry for not posting the model number, mine is G900I (KLTEDV), everytime i turn on the phone it just keeps booting onto the recovery and goes to install the viper4android but it fails to do that and reboots again and again, its impossible to do anything basically, not booting onto the rom or anything. Recovery version is TWRP 3.2.2-0, it opens up directly to the zip file which is viper4androidfx-aroma.zip and tries to flash it and crashes and the whole process starts again, pulling the battery didnt break the chain it just keeps rebooting to do that again!
I reflashed a new twrp recovery ver 3.2.3-0, but it still tries to flash that zip file again! Even after deleting the file itself it still tries to flash it and keeps rebooting!
How do i get rid of this twrp loop!? This is so weird!
P.S: After reflashing twrp the phone boots to the rom normally but i cant access recovery anymore, whenever i go to recovery it goes on in an infinite bootloop (cleared cache and dalvik cache using es explorer root), I am also on LineageOs 16.0, tried stock recovery but the stock recovery also keeps bootlooping.
P.S this viper4android is a magisk module!
NVM, solved it by flashing stock rom! Thanks!
