Not sure, but here is some of the new features of Android N..
Better Multitasking.
Better Notifications. ( Bar Toggles )
Virtual reality is a big piece of Android N.
Keyboard themes, but Samsung is gonna use their own. ( I think XD )
Better Performance with Vulkan API for graphics. New Jit compiler which will improve battery life.
Night mode. Hope Samsung get it !!
Faster App Switching.
But as we know, Samsung use their own touchwiz. I am not sure what will come and what will not come !!
Android N update could deliver improved stylus support.
Google’s new operating system includes a brand new Multi-window mode, an enhanced version of the battery saving Doze mode, a freeform window mode, a new Settings menu, faster app optimization, Night Mode, and more.
These are not my words, some of them are !!

No, that's the date of the security patch Nougat will have upon launch. Based on the preview release dates, expect it around mid-month.
As for when we'll see it on the GS7, I'll be surprised if we see it before the end of the year. This is Samsung we're talking about - look how long it took to get Marshmallow on the GS6 or Note 5.

You are talking about the same Samsung I'm thinking of right? I would not count on see it for a while with Samsung's track record.

(Possibly) a new launcher. Again doubt that this will be seen by Samsung users, but who knows.

Agreed. Maybe closer to November if we're lucky, but given how minor the update is in terms of features (Multi Window is something we already have anyway), it's unlikely Samsung will put it on high priority.
Less excited about Android N than I am about the new Grace UX though, so hopefully it either comes before Nougat in a Marshmallow ROM, or the Nougat update arrives quickly.

Exactly what I was thinking. I really like the subtle design changes in the GUI. I'm really liking the power saving mode in the N7 too.
We have Vulkan API already and I think that the only game that is supported is Need for Speed No Limits from what I know.
Source is already out, is there any Beta program from samsung ?

Nothing yet. I don't remember them doing one for the S6, but know that the beta firmware did leak on sammobile, which you could flash via odin. I am keeping an eye on their website for Nougat beta firmware as they are usually the first ones to get their hands on it.
If Samsung do a beta program i would be very surprised.

I played need for speed no limits but it has slow down on certain races and the frame rate is rarely above 60 FPS. I expect to be better in Nougat.

With this device I didn't had the Samsung experience.Updates were fast and the phone is still very responsive after 5 months with no factory resets.I think that maybe in october/november we will get the update but I don't think that it will be such a great difference!
Anybody else agree "direct boot" in Nougat is a security vulnerability waiting to happen? I'm not upgrading if I can still get patches for Marshmallow. I wanna see how this plays out over the next year or so.

As far as I am seeing by recent videos of 5.1 on Android One mediatek devices ,, its running more smoother even with that native screen recoding .Although new features are already on the web ,, exciting to see what/how Moto cook it for us

All i want is Camera API 2 support (3.0 + is already in development it seems!! I wouldn't feel if the camera doesn't support but its the same sensor as Nexus 5 (As some reviews say) and a software feature i wish Motorola includes in it or atleast some one from xda finds a way to enable it!!

Cool, well im not a big camera guy, quick snap here and there, otherwise i like the camera, what benefits does the new camera api bring in?
I just hope for a memory fix and the ui being smoothed out and less laggy...
Manual Controls!! I do like the simplicity of the Motorola Camera app but the Camera Sensor being the same as Nexus 5 would definitely improve with camera api 2.0 just check out some shots of N5 using camera api 2, especially low light. The camera of Moto G (2014) is amazing for its price except the software which limits it to great extent. Just wish Nokia makes an Camera App similar to its Windows Phone app with Camera api 2.0 support. Nokia Lumia 520 surprises me with its amazing camera performance while no phone is near in the same price range in android universe!!
Yes, it's true about our Moto G ship the same Nexus 5 camera sensor. The only difference is that Nexus 5 has OIS.
http://www.techspot.com/review/888-motorola-moto-g-2014/page3.html
The sensor + SoC support 1080p video recording, but it seems moto was lazy to develop the camera.
Can't we just borrow nexus 5 drivers????
Does anybody know if the Moto G 2nd gen will get an update to 5.1?
How likely do you think it is? I'm guessing the jump from 4.4 to 5.0 was not easy because drivers etc, but from 5.0 to 5.1 of your Motorola you don't have to worry about hardware problems so it should be a matter of weeks once 5.1 is official...?
What do you think. Quick OTA fix?

This is exactly what i thought. I had this doubt for a long time and i thought it'd be stupid to ask. Now that i know the sensors are same, library edits and media codec edits should bring 1080p recording to our phone. Any interested devs out there?
There must be some issues otherwise any dev could've already made it! I still have some hope that someone will find a way to enable camera api 2.0+ support so we could enjoy snapping with our Moto more! and Snapdragon 400 Soc does supports 1080p encoding and decoding and camera is capable of 1080p recording so it is possible with adequate dev support and kernel sources we may get!!
Speaking of ram management, I just read in a nexus 5 thread that it looks like it's been fixed and the device is working like a charm.
Surely, it's the nexus 5 we're talking about and it hasn't been a full day yet, but someone says the apps are opening/switching much faster and that launcher redraws have been non existent as of now.
Wonder how titan will deal with that. After all, the android one devices haven't really got impressive specs but they still seem to deliver quite well, right?
So 5.1.1 was leaked on a Google Dev page today (Source)
What would we want to see in this Lollipop update for the N6 seeming we know nothing about whats coming?
Me personally? A bit better battery life (I think the second .1 indicates new kernel?) and to clean up some of the bugs.

probably nothing beneficial for the N6... looks like it's only going to be for the N7 and N9... much like the 5.0.2 release was never "official" for the N6.
If its truly LMY47S, then it is not really 5.1.1.
That has the same build date code as 5.1.
I want faster responding sensors. Auto dimming, proximity sensor for phone calls sped up. Damn thing takes forever! As does auto rotate.
Want a rocketship for blasting off to Mars! Seems my Nexus6 has about everything else!
I'd like my battery to last over 9000 minutes of screen on time.
Three wishes, and none of them for an iPhone, M9, or S6.
Better battery optimization, improved camera and radio, and ability to switch to a dark Material theme.
Performance improvement for Camera, Dialer and occasional dropped frames in animations.
I would like google to unlock the notification led xD
Faster booting up and more options when shutting down.
Screen resolution options.
That's it for now, only had it for 2 days. Still learning about lollipop, I came from an galaxy s3.
Sexy wallpaper
- Notification lights back by default (non-rooted)
- (Better) hardware encryption for faster boot-up
Fix the carkit a2dp crashing when connected to a Bluetooth low energy device. I should not have to put my moto 360 in airplane mode every time I drive my car...

To you and others in this thread - You're on XDA and many of the feature requests are available in most custom ROMs. "I don't run rooted ROMs" or "I'd like those features to be in stock ROM" will probably be your reply, to which I will say, why are you commenting on a developer / Android customization forum?

Why would Google implement something that is unnecessary and could cause problems? There hasn't been any need to close apps for quite a few iterations of android (actually an understatement)
With all these 'new' versions I find it interesting that N7 seems to be the problem child they can't get right.

Well it's using a tegra chip. All other nexus are using Qualcomm chips. Minus the 9 which is also late to the party.
The N6 is already a great device. What would make it stand above the rest is for it to be natively as smooth and lag free as the N5 is and to add some minor battery life improvements.
So what do you think ?
I think they should not waste any more time in Lollipop.
Its september 1 , they did not release as they told us.We are becoming mate 2 users they are waiting 2 yrs for update.I think mate 7 will stay on kitkat, if we get 5.1.1 that will be last update for sure just my opinion

Soon??? What about soon?? 1 year...2 year...3 year???? Hihihihihi
B-143 is working v.stable for me.
KitKat to lollipop is a big jump, but tbh I don't really see big hype or changes at the back end to really have much end user impact and tbh sometimes I wonder with all the OEM mutations, how much of optimisations really carry over.
1.IMO the big MM feature is more optimised deep sleep, frankly alot of that is already built into the current build or you could always use greenify.
2. Current build already reports mAH consumption, another feature being cooked in MM.
3. Material skin: download lollipop theme, use nova launcher, use ex dialer, Google keyboard, messenger and you're not that far away.
Hopefully Huawei nexus has the same amazing battery life and hopefully we could steal the fingerprint scanner drivers and hope they work on the one we got. It works amazing right now.

ever since I did install I have shut up about lollipop I simply do not care any more, Apex gives the speed I did want from day 1.
No more frustrating slow animations that looks like crap..apps open faster with apex for sure...
It felt like an cpu/gpu upgrade for sure..
what a silly question, if they're not bothering with pushing out lollipop, what makes you think they'll even consider pushing out M to the mate7?
Because they did that with mate 2. They skiped kitkat for lolipop
Why would they skip something they are currently (and have already currently) spent money and work hours on aka. Lollipop for another Android version that isn't even officially released? On top of that, the Ascend mate 7 will soon be replaced for a newer Huawei phone.

I didn't have it before 2.5 was available, so I never tested it on the older builds. It's a decent camera, although you really want to be on stock ZUI to take advantage of it.
Realistically, if I had to choose again, I would probably save the money and get the regular Z2 instead; the custom ROM scene is much better, longer battery life, and no issues with the Z2 Pro camera's OIS getting physically stuck due to Camera2-based drivers not knowing how to deal with it properly. And no worrying about missing U-Health, since it doesn't have the finger sensor.
Hope I'm not the only one with this thought but coming from 6.x to 7.x I find that the new mutiwindow support is horrible.
I have turned on the settings in the development options to all of all apps but still it's like night and day vs previous mutiwindow support.
Resizing is a pain as it needs to be super specific and also depending on the apps you use they don't actually run at the same time.
For example of playing a game and then trying to access the browser the game will stop unless it's the active window.
Same for Netflix. I can't browse and use Netflix at the same time without the video stopping.
Seems the new setup unless using Google Apps like YouTube allocates the active resources on the active window.
Previously I think it simply split processes and resources so both apps could work
I would have figured Samsung would have refined if at least not kept their version
Am I the only one hating this?
Is there any way around this for now?
Anyone?
I don't make much use of this, but I think the real issue is that in Marshmallow we had Samsung's implementation of multi-window. In Nougat, Google added multi-window to Android, so I think Samsung dropped their own in favor of what's built into Android. Which simply isn't as good as what the 3rd or 4th generation of Samsung's multi-window offered. I don't think there's anything we can do about it, unfortunately.

Thanks. Unfortunate that they would simply stop with their own implementation since it was so much better and flexible vs the default one
Yes I agree that this new implementation is rubbish compared to the touchwiz one on MM.
Such a shame that we're stuck with it unless we downgrade.
