Extremely disappointed with newer firmware .253 - Xperia Z5 General

Hi,
I received the new firmware a few days ago, upgrading straight from .163.
I am very disappointed. Battery life is awful, and some applications just crash. Facebook for instance gets stuck quite often.
MF

I think you should do a factory reset. I've never noticed those issues. Battery life is same as before, no such crashing issues, bluetooth is fixed.

Do you think a Software Repair, using the Sony companion on PC, would do the trick?
I have never done a Software Repair before.

Apps force stop means u made a dirty install, wipe your data / cache and make a clean install

4.3 Bug

My call quality went down the crapper (static) and the proximity sensor doesn't seem to work any more after upgrading to official 4.3 this morning. Any one else having this issue? I'm trying a factory reset to see if that fixes it.
EDIT: Can confirm factory reset fixes the issue. Anyone else that runs into this bug, give that a shot. It should also be noted I'm using the unlocked C6902 on T-Mobile USA.
When clicking on "Sound enhancements -> Settings ", it shows "Unfortunately, Sound enhancements has stopped."
Anyone else?

Do a factory reset.
Yep. Sound enhancement crashes on me too.
And my battery level is stuck at 34%. I guess I'm going to have to factory reset. *sigh*
Recommended a factory reset. Mine is just fine. No crashes until now.

Sony Mobile statement on Android 4.4 KitKat sound bug

I dont think the new Firmware Update will change anything Kernel related it probably is just a small Bugfixing update so current working KK Kernels should work with the upcoming Update too.
I hope that this will be a bug fixing update to improve the stability, the sound problem, the lag, battery drain, camera and the worst of all the HEAT problem. I never had any problems with the temperature, but now I can't use the camera properly. Sometimes the camera button is not responding at high temperature.

Beside the Sound Bug theres no other Bug you mentioned that you will face if you installed your 4.4 correctly. No offense, i had the Sound Bug too but Drain? My Batterys never been better and my Phone is alot cooler then n 4.3 so no Heat at all. Camera worked fine since i first Time installed Generic FR 4.4.2 and what Lag do you mean?
Agreed 100% with Wolfbreak if install correctly.

I update my phone thru PCC, I've never tried otherwise. I did a factory reset, but it's the same. I don't know for you, but this is the first time I face bugs in my Z1. All other updates were 90% great, except the bugs that almost everybody got.
I've never flashed any firmware, only updated thru PCC. So, how to install correcty then?

I mean for sure it is correctly but if you go from Android 4.3 to 4.3.1 its no Problem but from 4.3 to 4.4 Google changed alot again so the safest way to install big Android Updates is to delete everything and fresh install 4.4.2, you can restore your Backup afterwards but Test before if your Bugs are still present on fresh install so you can be sure where your Bugs came from if you restore your Backup. Do you have Root and LB or UB? I mean normally it should work for everyone if they just update it but Sony messed up something i guess but i can confirm only Sound Bug and im using 4.4.2 since Day 1 where French Generic has ben out and alot had Camera Problems and Sound, i switched ROMs 3-4 Times already now without wiping data and beside Sound Bug i cant confirm any other Bug so 4.4.2 should work fine beside the Sound Bug.

I flashed 4.4 Commercial and Journalist ftf through flashtool with wipe everything option checked. Is that counted as Factory reset? I actually get most annoyed with camera bug as it freeze/ or force close much more often than 4.3.

Fresh Install for any Update at must.
There should be no need to reset your phone to do an update - what you might be doing is removing apps that may not work properly with 4.4 - you would have the same effect by just uninstalling all the apps you downloaded
I have done a fresh install and I'm still have massive issues with media server causing heat and battery drain issues, I have tried everything to fix this, starting to look at the smartwatch might be the culprit

I've heard that formating the external sd solves the media server issue
I never had the issue so i can't back this up but i read it somewhere around here, that some apps get stuck trying to access the SD without success because of Google's sd card killing mod

That was my very first thought on this issue and is still right up there, we all know that a lot of the apps we install on out devices from the PS have permissions that are quite simply ridiculous, I have uninstalled most of the apps I had in an effort to find out what is causing it, the confusing thing is that it is not there all the time, several times I thought I had fixed it.
It would be a lot easier to find it I had some software that could tell me which app was calling on the mediaserver process - I have tried several without a result, I believe that doing the sdcard fix would most likely solve this but I don't have root and couldn't be arsed rooting until there is an easy way of doing it

32.3.A.2.33 OTA update Is available for rus beeline

Today i recieve OTA. Cant find any information about changes.
I was just about to ask about this. I think it might just be the security update.
I can't install this update being on a rooted kernel 32.3.A.0.372. Do i have to revert back to an unrooted kernel in order to be able to install this update?
Oh ****.
I really hope this is just a security update.
I'm just finishing bringing the sumire LineageOS device trees set up with the older stock ROM.
I'm downloading the ftf.will see if there are any changes

Have tested calling my phone and noticed that ringtone volume no longer drops down, top and bottom loud speaker volume is somehow levelled in loudness.
Even selecting from the ringtone settings you can hear the changes.
I'm now observing the Phone Idle battery usage for the next couple of days if this was also been fixed.
Can others please verify if my findings are correct?
Thanks!
My phone has started lagging so much after this update. Slidings are so slow and laggy, it literally makes my eyes hurt. Navigating at application list or homescreen is like I'm using a 5 years old android. Even the apps like Whatsapp and Quickpic are slow and laggy now. All animations are 5 times more slower and laggy, I don't know why. My phone is one year old and it was always fast as the first day until today. I don't want to do a factory reset (and I don't even sure that factory reset will solve this problem). Do anyone else has the same problem, or have you got any easier solutions than factory reset?

It worked, thank you! :good:
But I find this bug very odd though. A simple reboot did not solve it and I rarely enable stamina mode, maybe once in a month. Anyway, thanks again!

It depends on your firmware region. Some might got it slower than other. For example Central Europe still on .378 while MEA got .33 the new ones.

Super lagging & freezing after newest fw upgrade

My S10+ becomes super lagging and sometimes freezing after newest fw upgrade (G975FXXU1ASE5) on May 22. Anyone having the same problem?
First thing i'd try if it was mine, if you haven't already, is a factory reset. Between Googles backup and Samsungs backup you can get it pretty much back the way you had it before resetting. I always make sure to do a fresh backup using both Google and Samsung first. Then Factory reset. Full restore using google when system asks which backup you want to use, use the latest one you just made of course, then restart and do the Samsung restore through Samsung cloud on top of Googles. I usually get all apps and Data restored without missing much. Home screens and widgets are restored. It's almost like i didn't do a reset at all. If it's still Laggy, then factory reset again and don't restore it. See how it works then. That way you're not restoring any App or setting that could've been causing your issue. It looks like you've been around here about 10 years so this all may be nothing new to you, but this is how i would do it.
Factory reset doesn't seem to help according to reports about rhis update.
Okay well flash in Odin and use CSC to perform a full wipe on the device... See if you still have the same issue. Consider Frija or Samfirm
People report it's something to do with the WiFi drivers, try switching it off and use mobile data to see if it persists

i dont really want to use the factory reset option because you wont know which app causing the problem.
im trying disabling app by app. so far i guess theres also something wrong with the fingerprint driver. i have a feeling the lagging always starts with fingerprint then it causes the whole system lagging and freezing.
maybe the optimize battery usage feature is way too aggressive? it freezes the fingerprint service while system tries to wake it up then it causes an endless loop and end up with a memory leak?? just blindly guessing so pls correct me if am wrong.

Workaround for this is to switch off WiFi as there is some problems with the WiFi certificates.
Use Mobile data for the internet connection and you will not face any laggyness or issues.

BTW people with problem, do you remember in developer options if there was before this update option to enable hardware acceleration for modem?
Could you for test try disable that option and reboot phone, or enable if it was disabled...just a hunch..
I had troubles with google app not responding at all and whole system became extremely laggy. Disabling bixby all together fixed problem. Now phone feels smooth and responsive even battery life has improved.

I was hesitant about applying the new update for the May patch because of all the issues everybody with reporting. I've had this update applied for about 4 hours now and so far there's no issues at all. I wonder if it's affecting every device or just a few. Anyone know if the updated fix has rolled out to unlocked Canadian devices?

Just bought 8 Pro and after I installed the update my battery started to drain like crazy and it looks same as yours. Did you find any solution or did the problem just go away?
