EVO Sells Out In-Store & Online

Engadget is reporting that Sprint has sold out on their initial stock of EVO's for their stores and online, and likely BestBuy and The Shack.

Man, I just ordered mine yesterday online and it arrived today (free overnight shipping) ...Phew, that was close!

i had called up 3 different sprint stores and this is what i was told
store 1: sold out, will get new shipment either friday or tuesday
store 2: sold out, taking deposit to reserve one (45 people already on list)
store 3: had few in stock (Silver Spring, MD)

Not sure how I did it to be honest. I'm told I come across as very intimidating.. but I was in no way upset, and understanding of the shortage. Next thing I know I see him go to the locked closet...grab one out of the stack and peel someones name off of it..

Radio shack is the only place in lower NH i could get on a pre-order list. Comes in Friday

Good thing I ordered mine Sunday.. i received it earlier today!

Here in Ohio no better, Went to best buy with my buddy, was quoted as Evo shippment tomorrow and now it's been moved to a nice lovely ambiguous "sometime from wednesday to friday" Here's hoping sooner rather than later but oh well. Here's hoping we can survive the great evo shortage of 2010! (*side note* kinda regretting not pre-ordering sooner, I was 8 people into the 2nd batch forcing me to wait an extra week. BAH!)

its good news, i just wished they had more accessories on launch day!

Decided to give in and pick one of these up yesterday. Couldnt find one in stock anywhere. This morning I was prepared to call every Radio Shack in the area. The 1st one I called said someone just took themselves off the list and that they had one available. I put my name on it, and picked it up 20 minutes later.
I have 2 friends that got theirs this same way. I did pre order one for my girlfriend though while I was there and she will be getting it on Friday.

I just got mine today and I had to call 8 or so sprint stores to find one in stock, ends up the store I got mine at had 10 in stock still from the first shipment and they had given a lot of their first order of 300 to other area stores. Once I got there it took them about 2 and a half hours to activate the flippin thing, my voice and 4g connected but my 3g never came up, took them forever to sort it out. They actually had to activate two evos to figure the problem out. I got 2 boxes and goodies out of the deal though, I am in the kc area too.

Which Sprint store was this? Im also in the KC area and have a few friends wondering if anyone has them in stock. Sounds like that store may be worth a shot.

i ordered mine online last night at 11pm central time and it was available waiting for it to come now ughhhh!!!!! all i have been doing is making lists of apps and what i want to try (been a windows mobile guy since the tilt days currently have a HTC Touch Pro 2 unlocked gotta sell that once my EVO comes in cant wait

Which Sprint store was this? Im also in the KC area and have a few friends wondering if anyone has them in stock. Sounds like that store may be worth a shot.

I scooped mine up from the studio Sprint store, downtown in the power and light district, like 14th and grand, also I got a call from the Sprint store that I was on a waiting list at and they had one for me, i was number 15 I believe.

I ordered mine online on the 7th, and it showed up UPS on the 9th. I couldn't have done better searching around. I say Sprint has come a long way.

I was going to order it online last night and then dumb me second guessed myself and decided to see if i could get lucky in a store today. Now I realize that was a very stupid idea.

how are some of you getting overnight delivery; i placed my order around 12pm PST yesterday and i still haven't received a delivery notification or any updates; it still says waiting in the warehouse for processing; this is annoying me since it's supposed to be overnight delivery

Long time lurker here. I order the DX online on 8/10 and I'm still waiting. The VZW Web says Shipping 8/31, and I noticed someone else ordered theirs on 8/9 and received it this week even though the shipping date was 8/25 then.
I'm just wondering if there is anyone else in the same boat as me or if they were one of the lucky ones to get theirs recently.

What I was told by the Rep is they get sent out in the order purchased but the backorder date is the latest it should ship out.

I ordered mine on july 31st and they told me i would have it by the 24th. Much to my suprise it was on my door on the 11th! Hope you have the same luck, you will not be disappointed.

I ordered mine in store on 8/15. Had a shipping notice in my inbox late that night and received 8/17. The salesperson in the store and the website that day put the ship date towards the end of the month. I was plesantly suprised! Hope you get yours soon. I love it! I have been a WinMo user since 2000! and decided to jump ship and loving it.

Im not even gonna tell you how jealous I am. lol I ordered mine on the same as day you, over the phone. The rep told me that phone should be shipped out by the 31st, but I am hoping & praying I will receive it b4 then.

Ordered on the 12th... still unpatiently waiting...

This wait is murdering me. I've already written off my current phone(storm 2). I now treat it like a step child.

Killing me.
Bought two via local brick and mortar store on the 11th... Nothing yet (no email from FedEx). The date I was given was the 25th. Good to know others are getting theirs, hopefully won't be long!
*Edit: Just to confirm, I was told I'd get tracking info via email from FedEx when it ships out... Did those of you that received yours get emails first? or did it just show up?

I received an email from Verizon with tracking info. I also receive an email when my bill is ready to pay. My wife didnt give VZW an email so she did not get notified.

I ordered mine on 8/13 and no word yet. I have fully resigned myself to wait to the first, but it'd be a very welcomed surprise to get it early.

i ordered mine on 8/16. No love yet- of course. I am keeping my eye out for fed-ex and on this thread to see when you all start getting yours.

I ordered mine on a Wednesday after work, and I would have had it the following Wednesday if I had been home to sign for it from Fedex...so the "two week wait period" is a little off, they're probably saying that just in case it takes a little longer than a week.

Ad that Verizon model is realesed on the 21st

Maybe this is wishful thinking and I know that this is probably just an error but just recently I saw a Verizon ad on here that said the phone is to be released for Verizon on the 21st. Has anyone else came across this? Also one thing to note is that when I clicked on the link it took me directly to the Verizon pre order page

That would be a very interesting leak if true. I wonder if it is just taking the date of when the phones are starting to release in the US and putting a random company preorder page link in each time. I however, have all ads blocked so I'd never see that banner.

They did say BY July 9/10... So there might be a chance? It's all wishful thinking at this point. Lol

Well one of the early rumors said the 28th as release. So I guess it's possible. By this point though I'm just waiting for an email saying my order has shipped and hoping I'm not having to wait over a weekend to get it.

My friend pre ordered one from radio shack and they told him it releases on the 21St. They called him a while after he pre ordered that he could pick up on the 21st

Gamestop release date 7/25/13? (US)

I've been reading the release date is July 27th, so I'm a tad confused since the Gamestop website says July 25th. I reserved my unit, I just hope it really does come a little earlier but maybe I'm just a little hopeful.

All I can think is GS had a release date from earlier in the month and nVidia must have extended it to the 31st, which is what is being reported as the release date by nVidia.

it could be that that is when nvidia ships the units out. They said they were going to try to get it to people by the 31st, so shipping a few days early would make sense. Often times stores get them even sooner to distribute them, so perhaps GameStop will get it the 25th but hold it until the 31st when it officially launches.

I'll be looking out for that text message for the next few days notifying me that it's going to be in, if the Gamestop site is something to be trusted, I'm so impatient! I hope I get that notification tomorrow or Wednesday that it really will be on Thursday.
EDIT: My reason being, the website earlier this month had 7/31/13 as the release date, but later changed it to 7/25/13

all though possible i highly doubt gamestop will start selling it 6 days before Nvidia themselves ship it.

Definitely unlikely, but I'm still hopeful. Now I play the waiting game

My personal interactions yielded mixed results. I called three GameStops and they all said they weren't taking preorders. Two said they weren't "Anymore" So I assume they closed the preorders? I know mine is still in effect since I was able to put down more money for it. I'm going to call on Thursday the 25th and see what they say. The GameStop website still says 7/25/13 regardless of what Nvidia said.

I just noticed on their website that the accessories are all dated the 31st but the Shield is the 25th. It doesn't look too good for this week.

Probably not. Still though, it is strange that soon before Nvidia announced the date as the 31st Gamestop switched the date from the 31st to the 25th. I don't expect it this week, but just to be sure I'm going to stop by Thursday still.

Went to Gamestop at lunch and the clerk knew nothing about preorder or delivery dates. He said it wasn't in the system which led him to believe it might actually be in stock tomorrow.....hmmmmm

Ya, but that is GameStop for you. Worst thing about the gaemstop website for me is it gives me stores about 300 miles away by default and won't remember my real location.

Yeah not the greatest website, but I like GameStop. I don't mind waiting.

Not so Good News for Us

Per my chat this morning:
GeraldC: I have checked on the order details and I can see that yes, your current order is being back ordered. Due to the high demand of the device our inventory isn't able to suffice all order from activations and upgrades. The estimated delivery date is 6 weeks from the date the order was made.
You: wow, will it be better to get it from the store?
GeraldC: That depends on the available inventory on our store, you can head to the nearest store on your location to check if there's available one.
You: when are the stores supposed to get them?
GeraldC: Usually if a store runs out of stock, the estimated delivery date is 6 weeks as well since the device is ordered and coming straight from the manufacturer.
You: Do you know when the stores will begin to receive them?
GeraldC: As of now the information is not made available for us, it would be best if you head to the nearest store so that they can give you specific date based on the day when they have made an order for their inventory.

when did you pre-order yours? Mine also says backorder but what's crazy is mine went from pending shipping to backorder.

My pre-order date was the 25th at like 7am.

I couldn't get the system to work the first couple days...didn't pre-order till the 27th... order says processing

Hope your right. I went to my local t mobile store on Saturday and the rep told me that my note 4 should be delivered on the 16th or 17th. He said he was pretty confident of that. Sidenote.. on my order status page under order history it does say backorder where it use to say pending shipping.....hopefully that's because it is not available yet.

I order mine by 9:06 am that day.
I doubt not many people would want a phone this big + its not an apple.

Mine doesn't say backordered, but it really doesn't matter. Their whole system is messed up.

I preordered mine Sept. 27th. Then on Oct. 3rd my status went to being processed and on back order. That's when I did an online chat and I posted the results in the OP. This is for the Note 4.

Stores get them sometimes a full week before release dates. Sometimes they even do a "soft release" when they have it in stock but not on display. You have to know they have it in stock and request it though and there is no way to know that unless a rep tells you or you are in there asking every day.
I got my vibrant (sgs1) this way.... was in store looking to upgrade from my G1 to a g2... saw someone looking at a vibrant right next to me playing Avatar on it n I was like.. "ummmmmm, what phone is that?" Told it was a vibrant, not officially on sale till the next week but I could get it now if I requested it by name cause they had them in stock and were doing a "soft release".

nice thats next friday. hopefully they dont sell out.

same thing happened last year which is why I just go to the store...usually a small line, but you will get one (this is not the iphone)
their online system is whack

Yea, I don't think I'm going to pre-order again in the future, this whole process does seem messy.
For my situation, I have a 4 Year Anniversary so I decided I'd get us a pair of Note 4s. I called the rep and one I was just going to order on my account and the other I was just paying outright for it. Well the rep couldn't process them both at the same time because it triggered some fraud warning. (Oh I was also ordering one of the WiFi calling routers). So after a bit of a hold she came back and said she would have to separate each item and buy them on separate days.
So that day I got the Black one ordered, the next day she called back and got the white one ordered, and finally the 3rd day she called back to order to the WiFi calling router. At that point everything looked great, all orders pending, I was a happy camper (though still wasn't liking the fact that it appears I would get it a couple days after release due to shipping, which after reading the posts here seems like that might be debatable and they might actually arrive early).
Well fast forward a couple days, I was checking the orders cause I'm crazy and impulsive like that and just noticed an update. On my Black N4 and Router they both say 'Pending' still. My White N4 however is now saying backorder! Having a bit of a freakout cause its an anniversary present and timing is critical. And to make matters worse, everyone I seem to talk to says something a bit different and so I've come to the conclusion that nobody really knows. Some say 'Oh our system just says that, but there will be plenty available' or 'I'm sure it will still be sent on time because we haven't had that many orders come in' to 'Oh, yes there has been a very high demand, maybe you can give the one that does make it and yours will just have to wait' or 'The system had a minor glitch and has now been corrected, because of this we now have an update on our stock and thus many orders have been changed accordingly'.
Sooooo yea. Here is keeping my fingers crossed, but just wanted to share that on my account I have two order and one says Pending and the other says Backorder.
