Is there anyway to disable the annoying popups that say that the battery is fully charged, or that it needs to be charged....
It really annoys me when i have low battery and it wont let me watch any movies or listen to any music.
Please help.
Thanks
any ideas?
last bump
There's a setting under sound and display called power saving mode. Did you try unchecking that? It's description sounds exactly like an auto-brightness adjustment, but why would there be two of those? Just an idea.

No i tried that. Doesnt work.
I too really hate this. let me use my phone! i know it's almost dead!
I really love this new Always On Display (AOD) feature, it's really classy and elegant.
But, one thing I noticed is that the brightness level seems to be automatically adjusted, and when its bright it surely drains the battery.
Is there anyway to set this brightness manually? I tried changing the display brightness in manual mode, but it does not seem to use that settings.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I dont think there is an option, if there is i am also interested.
I personally thought the Display sometimes was too bright.
i..e In a Dark Room and the Light was more ambient than it really needed to be.
Then the misses would ask me to turn off the night light lol!
Always On
Dear All, I just bought my S7 Edge and picked it up yesterday. I'm quite impressed with this display!
I thought the same thing you guys tought... The Always On Display is very bright!
But here is some info that I searched over the internet. Don't know about it's reliability, but seems legit.
New Always On Display
An interesting function that first appeared on the Galaxy Note 4 Edge in 2014 was always keeping a portion of the OLED screen on when the phone is off (in standby), so certain content can be displayed all day and all night long, but with a very small power drain that has very little effect on the battery running time. This is possible on an OLED display with a mostly black background because every sub-pixel is independently powered, so black pixels and sub-pixels don’t use any power.
The new Always On Display mode shows various personalized clock, calendar, status messages, notifications, and images on the main screen when the phone is on standby. It measures the ambient light level and has both day and night modes, plus it’s smart enough to stay off when the phone display is face down, or it senses a dark confined space such as a pocket or handbag. The OLED display produces an illuminated main screen image 24 hours a day so you can always discreetly check it with just a glance. As a result, the OLED Always On Display will reduce the need for a smartwatch, which seems likely to become an endangered species. We’ll cover this in more detail below.
Here is where I picked it up. Cheers Guys!
(Received a message with the information that I can't post url's.. ) sorry...
Type this in google, "always on display s7 edge brightnes" then it is the 3rd link in the url contains displaymate
same, it quite bright, and with my testing if you can keep ut at its lowest brightness, it consumes 0.3%/hr. that would be absolutely great.
there is an app always on display plus which helps in that
if you mark on auto brightness , it will be done
I unmarked Auto Brightness and seems not brights
Hello guys did anyone find a solution to this?

I've noticed that it is automatically adjusting by the amount of light in the room (and it's quite sensitive, always brighter than needed). It would be great if there was an option to manually set the brightness, but only small bunch of people are actually interested in this.

This app does not changing the actual brightens, seams to be there is no solution yet.
I tried changing the screen brightness to minimum and disabling auto brightness, but the AoD brightness seems to be controlled independently.
Trying out an app called Always On AMOLED - it has a night mode. Gonna test power consumption of both
Mine used to auto adjust but not anymore. I think the last software update changed this.
GS7
I'd love to have an adjustment setting. I'm having the opposite problem as most. Mine isn't bright enough! Oh well. Hope they change that!
AOD brightness fix for Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. May fix others
This may not help everyone as I am giving you the solution for the S9 and S9 Plus, but look in your settings to see if you have the same thing.
Under 'Lock Screen and Security' select AOD and select 'Show Always'. Once you've selected the Content to Show, disable Auto Brightness then move the slider as far right as possible and underneath that select Show Always.
Job done. Next time you see your AOD it'll be full brightness. It is still not bright enough but better than before. If you then go into 'Clock Style' and change the colour after type and choose a fairly stand out colour, this will make your clock stand out even more.
I hope I've helped at least a few people.

i feel like its to bright... i want to dim it. dont need it to be that clear.... i wil continue my search....
Threw search and having both s7 and s9+ I noticed the 9+ has the ability to adjust the brightness of the AOD very easily in settings or double tap the screen and u see the settings. Works perfect on the 9+ as for the s7 doesnt have the same settings they both say the latest version available is downloaded but it's an s7.. so I just think that setting dont exist on the s7. The brightness is controlled on it's own and u really have no control manually on the brightness.. I think it's a new thing for new galaxies but the 7 isnt gonna do it.. eh.. so I suggest a contrast color which makes it "brighter" to the eye. And basic and big.. it's for quick glances anyways... sucks tho..
Hello friends,
I have noticed that when Adaptative brightness is on, my phone take a few more seconds to wake-up from its screen off, sleeping state.
There is really a noticeable difference than when Adaptative brightness is not enabled. I'm wondering if anyone else had noticed this, and if there any way to fix it.
Regards.
Thanks this was exactly my problem with Android N final release. As soon as I turned off adaptive brightness my screen wakes up right away. Did you ever find a fix?
EDIT: Wrong subforum, sorry.. please move to Q&A
Very happy with my 6T so far. Adaptive brightness has been a little bit wonky.
I work at my computer in a relatively dark environment. When I wake up my phone and look at it, brightness starts off around 15% and I can barely read the display. I hold my phone screen up to my monitor to get adaptive brightness to kick in, and brightness quickly goes up to about ~80% as expected. Then when I face it back towards me, it finally settles back in around 40% after a few seconds and stays there, which is perfect for my environment.
It seems like there's some kind of issue with adaptive brightness initializing the ideal brightness in a dimly lit environment. Yet it knows where the brightness should be set after it has been exposed to more light.
Is this all part of Android Pie or does OnePlus have some control over how this works?
Pie issue, I believe there is an app that helps, can't recall what the name is, most people seem happy with it.
Thread moved to Q&A
Mine does similar ,screen brightness fine ,then if unlock it comes back on very dim and I have to alert it in settings and adaptive doesn't always seem to work
The impression I get is that it isn't a learning adaptive as you see with Samsung, Pixel, and so on. You just get the same answer for the lighting every time it wakes up, or at least that's what I'm getting from mine.
Adaptive brightness is fully controlled by Pie. You can't set the base brightness in Pie and then let adaptive brightness control it from there.
Yeah I noticed the same thing too just a few days ago. Initially the phone handled fine, but now is always too low. Not sure where the sensor is, and if it is covered by the oem screen protector. If so then maybe that is the issue . The plastic OEM is a smudge magnet.
Yeah this was really annoying me last night. The brightness was fine, then I lock the screen, unlock and the screen is dim compared to before despite the light level staying the same. If I swipe down quick settings and toggle auto brightness off and on again it goes back up so it seems to be the auto brightness not picking up the correct level after unlocking the phone.
Guys have a read about adaptive brightness in Pie. Basically it learns from your behavior. You have to adjust it constantly to your liking and then the phone will learn after a week. Mine is noticeably better after 9 days. Almost perfect I would say. You just have to let it adapt and don't stop adjusting the brightness manually with adaptive option on.
App store, "Velis Auto Brightness", prolem solved..
I've noticed that the adaptive brightness is quite crap in oos. I never like adaptive brightness until I used a pie rom on my 5t, but op did something to the adaptive brightness and it definitely is not as good as Googles version
Guys Goog has just now announced they've added their learning adaptive brightness feature into Pie, and it's up to OEMs to use it at their discretion, Samsung for instance has their own learning adaptive brightness already in use. In any event this phone does not appear to have it. I had a Pixel XL 3 and the brightness there really is learning, you can it adjusting immediately and see a solid difference in a matter of days, by a week it's about perfect. This phone does not do that, mine hasn't adapted at all and is still just as bad as day one.
Any comment on that @Funk Wizard ?
download and setup Velis Auto Brightness from the play store, and you can get the same adaptive brightness..learns and after a few days the difference is great..

Still broken and its been like that for some time. Hopefully in the coming builds it should be taken up as priority :good:
So far it's not that good for me but I have to give some more days to train itself to my usage behaviour. Will see.
Does anyone else has a problem with ambient always on display not working? Most of the time it is there, but even if I turn off the Scheduler, sometimes off for hours, just the black screen. 10.3.10 MIUI
Yes, the same issue for me. Little annoying, but I hope it will be fixed in the next update. Maybe I will for now just turn off the always-on display.
You should read the description
Could you be more specific please?
"To reduce power consumption, items won't be displayed in the following situations:
1. When your device lies in dark for a long time.
2. When DND mode is on"
Haha, didn't saw that, but still, my room wasn't dark at all and it still went off. For now I have just disabled that option, and if that is only big bug I will be super happy.
