Use package pro to freeze software update (there are 2) and you should be good to go.

Freeze security policy updates too. It pushes updates to patch vulnerabilities. Mine has been perfect since rooting, just look up the freeze bloatware thread and use titanium backup it seems to be better than package disabler plus makes backups and can unlink supersu feom play store so it wont update. Disable auto update(1st thing you do literally) when reflashing stock before rooting so after you root it will not update supersu and unroot you
**edit-disable play store auto update.

I did it via kies, worked after finally getting kies working which required toggling the usb data connection mode between camera and media. (Kies was just spinning saying "loading...")
Yeah I got mine Thursday morning, it prompted me to do it when I woke up about 8am I clicked ok it took about 20mins :good:
yeah I'd advise to do it via Kies mate (if you can get the bloody software to detect your phone properly - it's still buggy after all these years).
The file is absolutely huge so better to do it via kies and get some charge in at the same time.
Did it via kies, I think it made the phone cooler but prevents the motochopper root.
My interenet connection is only 5mb roughly and the file over kies is 8gb so would take forever
How come some people can get it other not ota

i did an OTA update, the file was only 71mb..?

that might have been an earlier patch or something? Either that or maybe when you download it on kies it downloads the WHOLE firmware, as opposed just whats needed to update. Are you now running I9505XXUAMDM?

software update

I rooted my s5 with towelroot and my knox count is still 0x0
now if I try to check for software update I get this

so rooting is the reason? cz I thought keeping the knox count 0 is what mattered.and how should I solve this keeping the count 0?
Turn device in download mode and check Knox waranty void.
Also Xposed module Wanam can fake system status to official

I'm not sure why you are surprised? it's well known that Samsung doesn't sanction rooting. If they did, we wouldn't need exploits like Towel root to root our phones.
When you check for an update, the update utility has a quick look at your system to see if the system files are as expected and discovers that key files have changed (because you rooted). And insists that you go back to stock before the update proceeds. If you think about it a moment, the message you received makes perfect sense.
It's questionable if you should update at all if you have a rooted system. If you do, then you ought to be doing it manually in a controlled manner. Which is to say that you don't let the system check for updates itself. Instead download the new firmware, then use something like Mobile Odin Pro to write the .tar file, choosing everroot, inject superuser and wipe cache.
.
wildalan, ,aybe stupid question - you received this information before downloading the update or just before installation after downloading the OTA?
You should download samsung kies and then connect your phone .wait a while.then click software update....it will download and install latest update.it may take a while and u will have latest software updated without knox tripping

Rooted phone refuses to activate fully

Hey there. I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S5. Recently I realized the WiFi Hotspot I'm paying for just doesn't work. It enables. It allows devices to connect. It remains turned on. But any device that connects to my phone fails to achieve an Internet connection.
Yesterday I took my phone in to a Sprint representative who spent a valiant amount of time trying to fix my phone. Unfortunately when he entered ##72786#, the phone started an update process that completely screwed up my activation. I believe he later reprogrammed the phone, but the S5 is still obsessively trying to "finish" activating.

}
(fun fact: right now when I google "reporting firmware version to server ", nothing is returned. Maybe this'll put it on the map.)
When it's done trying, I see "firmware update not completed."
I've been seeing these messages since yesterday. And I hadn't no idea if any of this has to do with my device being rooted. Rooting is really all I've done, no ROMs or anything of that nature have been attempted... only SDFix and SELinux Mode Changer were run using it.
But I HAVE had activation woes before. When I enabled tethering on my phone, it took the better part of the day for sprint to reactivate it. And I was flying, so the process took several major cities before its success. And this was well before I rooted.
Tl;dr is it possible to use the stock Hotspot and reactivate your sprint phone while rooted with your device in a Custom status?

I'm probably just going to factory reset my phone. Is it safe to do when rooted?

I did it via Samsung Kies... this seemed safest. I used to have negative experiences with custom ROMS and ultimately decided this was the best way to go forward.
P.S. Kies is like iTunes but it doesn't suck and it doesn't require a whole lot of authentication. I just learned this. I did a text message backup and restore and that worked great. An app backup was a lot more hit-and-miss; only the apps were backed up, not the data.
So you fixed it this way? ☺

Zedge app

Anyone having problems with the Zedge app? Every time I try to open I get the message, 'Unfortunately, Zedge has stopped.' I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling but still get the same message.

I have had no issues on my moto x running true pure 2.9. What rom are you running? Have you tried others to see if the issue remains?

I am getting the same issue, 'Unfortunately, Zedge has stopped.' I am running Stock ROM Build MPHS24.49-18-4 (May 1 Security Patch) ZEDGE version 5.4.4 and I also tried to Clear data and Cache for app as well as tried to uninstall and re-install the app.
Never once had this issue running stock rooted or BrokenOS. Sounds like it's the rom your using. I suggest flashing stock firmware and root again.
I'm running stock rom from Motorola May security update, just updated last week.

Never had any problem with Zedge.
Moto X Style , running stock.
I noticed if I REMOVED all overlays from a Theme app, ZEDGE works again, but once I apply any theme, Zedge craps out..

That was it. Thank you for that. It was killing me not knowing what the problem was. Don't know how it could affect that though.

NOUGAT IN POLAND!!! DOWNLOADING RIGHT NOW, SO EXCITED!!!
I ve root..can i update normally or i have to download the zip and flash via custom recovery?
Working pretty well, seems to be a little bit faster than MM
Feels snappier now. It also supports the "fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0" command now too, so its the perfect replacement for specialized Nexus 7 installs.
So uh... if I have root, what do I do to get it to nougat rooted?
The stability/cuts with WiFi is better in this new ota?
Flash with full version ota with FlashFire it'll inject root and keep the TWRP recovery all in one shot.
Any idea for release date on LTE no-US model ? (RoW)
I didn't have the update
I tried FlashFire it got me stuck in a boot loop
Got the update notification as well! Downloading it right now!
Full for wi-fi k1 5.0
