HAMMER and knife TEST - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

WE WANT A HAMMER TEST
I really would like to see our phone smashing
WHO WITH ME

Not a hammer, but this one has seen better days

What the hell XD
What did u do
Hhhhhhhhhh

It's like a panzer walk on it
What happens is it still workin

If I could afford a replacement phone, I'd take a hammer, knife, saw, and any other utility I can think of to this pretty little phone

Lol idk what happened to it, I got it that way. But besides the screen not displaying or touches not working, it's fully functional haha...I used it to create a debrick.img actually, brought my device back to life.
At first it would not power on with an sd card inserted, but a small bend to straighten the phone slightly and it powers on again xD

Haha that's pretty cool, the resilience of silicon never ceases to amaze me.
Bending it back into shape probably created a connection between whatever had been severed originally, pretty cool jaja

Dropped it right in. Took it out fast and pulled out battery. Whats the chances of survival. I took the phone apart. Cleaned with cutips and blow dried it. Its currently in pieces in bags of rice.
The chances of it working are very slim, honestly I think you just made yourself a $300 paperweight (heard someone else say this thought it was funny) but goodluck though

Hey, keep your fingers crossed. I had a Tmobile MDA and I was on the phone when I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom and I leaned over to dry my hands and yup, you guessed it, dropped it in the toilet! When it fell in, I saw a large spark/flash. (The toilet was clean btw)...so I instantly pulled it out, and pulled the battery out. I left it on a cloth towel, and let it dry out for 4-5 days. To my disbelief, it actually worked again. The only issues I had after that, were 2 of the keyboard letters were hard to press. I mean, you could press them fine, but the letter didn't recognize until you pressed the button with some force. Don't worry too much, but I would definitely let it air dry for atleast a couple days before trying. If there is any water on any of the circuits when you try to power up, that's when you fry stuff! Good luck man!!!
wow what a coincidence running across this thread. I dropped my wing in the toilet last night and I almost cried because I thought it was done for. anyway I quickly pulled it out when it happened and took the battery out as well as my micro sd card and let it all dry for about 6 hours(i know that's not enough time). After I put it back together I was shocked to see that it actually powered up. Everything seemed fine at first but then I opened the start menu it started to cycle through everything on its own so I immediately shut it off and took it apart again and let it dry for 6 more hours. After I let it dry and put it back together it stopped moving on its own and everything works fine now with the exception of the down arrow. it no longer works for some reason and I am referring to the down arrow when the phone is in the closed position(the keyboard not showing). Anyway im thankful that the phone still works and it could have been much worse but not being able to press down in the closed position REALLY sucks. the moral of the story is to take better care of your phone. also, if anyone has an idea of how I can fix my down arrow not working please do tell however im assuming it short circuited or something but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, not having your down key def. does suck, but atleast the touch screen works, so you can still use your phone. As far as fixing it, don't really know any way to without cracking it open and doing some doctoring. I know you can use a softkey program and reprogram a different button on the face to act as the down key if you miss it that much. Hope this helps.
Well everything on the phone seems to be working correctly. However if you look at the screen at an angle its crazy looking. Definately some damage was done to the screen but if you look straight at it you wouldnt be able to tell. Maybe in a couple of days ill start to notice some stuff going wrong but so far everything is working. Thank God.

Yeah, I forgot mine did that too, but I think it was just condensation built up under the screen. That went away on mine, but it took a couple weeks or so. I don't think you will have anything crap out on you. If it hasn't already, I think you are fine.

wet g1?

okay, I put my phone in my coat pocket when it (the coat)was slightly damp for at least 2 hours and later, I found that my phone kept showing the option to power off and my keys werent responding...the keys didnt seem to be stuck...I then wiped then reflashed, which in itself took a good while since my keys werent responding fast enough...but even the reflash didnt work...so did I ruin my phone because of the damp coat? And if so, anybody know how I can fix it? I'm thinking about blow drying my phone...good idea or not?
Don't try to turn the phone on anymore. Remove the battery, battery cover, memory card and SIM card. Place your phone in a bowl of rice to absorb moisture. Sometimes there's just a bit of water left in the system. Let it dry off, phones come back to life most of the time.

Im going to try this, but just in case anybody else has any ideas, here's a few more details on my phone...it'll turn on, touch screen works, but it's when i use the hard keyboard and press the keys that the option to turn off shows up on the screen...and the phone's green and end keys are flashing on and off like the phone is turning itself on and off, on and off...never seen anything like this on the forums...weird...

oh and thanks for the quick response...
No problem. The lights on the buttons going on and off is the water interfering with the circuitry. I highly recommend you leave your phone off, or you run the risk of shorting it out.
If water is making it run wrong, it **IS** shorting out.
my G1 was completely submerged in a lake for 5 minutes while powered on. as soon as it came out of the water i powered off, and blew it dry with an air compressor. left battery out for 24 hours and, worked 95% ever since. only had some random touch screen sensitivity loss.
if you are ok with taking the phone apart and the rice solution doesn't fix it then send me a PM and i'll let you know how to make absolutely sure nothing MORE goes wrong. right now though you probably messed up the phone cause you turned it on and off repeatedly
ok...did the rice solution...didnt work, so does anybody know any good, reliable cellphone repair shops in chicago that does the g1? Googled , found a place called CPR(cellphone repair) but the yelp reviews werent really convincing...so I thought I'd ask the people on here... you guys seem very reliable and I thought I'd rather ask you guys' opinions than go to a repair shop with poor to average reviews...pretty please?
oh, tubaking...ty for the reply...but I looked up the service manual and taking apart the g1 seems to take a lot more skill and experience working with electronics than I have, so that solution's out....thanks a lot anyways....peace, bro
there is no fix for permanant water damage, any shop is just gonna do the same thing i said unless they have access to the main board and all proper pieces to the phone. usually at times like this i go on ebay and buy a real cheap G1 with a broken screen or some other defect that the seller wants to get rid of the phone quickly and cheaply
I left my phone in the rain for a couple of hours and had the same issue. I know this is not the best solution (due to heat) but it fixed mine completely. I removed sdcard, battery, and bback. Then placed it on an egg carton and put in my toaster oven at 150 degrees for an hour or so. Didn't touch it for another day then powered it on. Power button glitched the first time I pressed it but has worked great ever since (been about 3 months)

G1 at bottom of lake revived!
I think we should have a sticky to this Thread! Or maybe a a wet willie.
This weekend I dropped my G1 to the bottom of Lake Conroe and was able to fish it out within 5 minutes. Fortunately I was docked in about 6 feet of water. I totally took everything apart and when I got home placed the phone and parts in the direct sun wrapped in a white cloth. I suppose this is equivalent to the egg carton and toaster oven method.
That night, I put the pieces in a box of rice and put it back together in the morning and voila it worked!! For a few hours I had issues with the backlight coming in and out but after about 8 hours of use it works perfectly. I didn't even have to wipe or flash anything - everything like new.
Whew!!!
well, if people stopped playing with there phones and fingering it, it wouldn't get so wet, maybe you should try a personal lube if you can't keep your hands off

Damn it you beat me to it. I saw the title and said damn this is to easy, wet g1. haahaha.
I dropped my phone in boiled hot dog water and here's what worked for me. I took my phone completely apart and wrapped it up in tin foil. I then put it in the microwave on med-hi for 1:32. Once that is done you take it out and put the phone (disassembled of course) in a bag of bbq potatoe chips (yes it has to be bbq or it won't work) over night. In the mean time you need to feed your dog a snickers bar (this is a must). The next day you need to take magic fairy dust (found a good deal on ebay) and sprinkle it over your g1. Then put your phone back together and slap your momma. Push the power button and bam a perfectly working g1 again. I can write a detailed "how to for dummies" on this if it will get stickied.
supreme, you forgot they need to eat the bbq chips while powering the phone on.

I'd bump your guide, if I would have had this then I wouldn't have spank the neighbor's wife's ass instead of my momma's, no wonder I still have a wet g1. Wait. What are we talking about, something about crickets and penut butter, I'm confuddle. Oh well back to spanking his wife's ass, mmmm cottage cheese thighs

HELP: Battery stuck in DHD and won't slide out!

Man is this the stupidest problem ever...
The good news: I finally got my DHD yesterday...
The bad news: The battery cover is as bad as I've been hearing. For some reason I couldn't put it back on. So I pushed the Battery as far in as I could in order to put the cover on. The phone works great, but now the battery is stuck inside and won't slide out by itself and I don't know how to take it out
Please Help...
Put your fingers flat on the table, same width as the battery door.
Rest the DHD on your fingers (so that the battery door is facing the table.
Raise the DHD an inch or two and bring it down on your fingers (not so hard that it hurts).
Keep doing this, the battery will work its way free and drop onto the table.
I'll add a pic in a sec...
Thanks James, this definitely sounds very doable; I'm giving it a try now!
The battery has moved about half an inch now!! This is working *jumping up and down with joy*
I got the battery out!! Why does everyone else's battery just seem to slide out by itself? I thought it was because I pushed it too far in, but even when the battery is half way out, I still have to pull it out with some effort...
Maybe my phone just has a lot of "friction"? When I watch those YouTube videos, everyone seems to glide their fingers smoothly across the screen, but when I do it, it feels very fricative...do you guys put on hand lotion or something...
Do not press the screen too much, only a slightest touch is needed. Also if you have moist hands, it makes swiping the screen harder.

Probably because its a new phone. You have to play with it a little bit until the oil from your skin lubes up the screen. Then its all slidey slides.
I had a similar problem with my first DHD... part of the the plastic wrapper around the battery had folded back on itself along the forward edge of the battery. That caused the battery to get wedged inside. A little trimming of the plastic wrapper with a craft knife fixed it... YMMV

No you can't - the WiFi/BT antenna is in that cover .
would've given you some extra grip tho
Now seriously, if when u look at ur battery there's no visible flaws that u can safely and/or easily remove and if your screen keeps giving you the finger in my opinion you should return it for a replacement. There's been enough faulty hardware cases, the folks at HTC know the drill by now. If that's not an option, sell it on ebay ( or your local online market ) and grab a new one;]

Dropped my desire hd

So, today I dropped my dhd.... literally 3 feet, nothing crazy..... and it has a full body invisible shield and an otterbox case.... it did land on a corner, wood floor.... now, when I go to wake the phone up.... it turns on. It is randomly powering off since the very, gentle fall.....
It does not make a lot of sense, any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.

try taking out your cards and battery, the drop may have un seated them
first thing I tried.... clips look good, battery looks good, phone looks great.... when I put in my second battery... it seemed to be running well, until 6 minutes ago, when I pressed the power button... silly phone was off again.
I powered down, ejected all 3 items, placed them all back in.... it was such a harmless fall, with a full protected phone....
sounds like something may have become loose, i sense a rma back to htc if a full wipe etc dosnt solve it
not 100% sure, but after pushing the sim card out and in again... has not happened since.... I hope as heck it is ok, such a simple drop, heh!
thx
I'ved dropped my phone like a thousand times but nothing like this has happend too me!
I think HTC will replace on you warranty for this... Ask them!
sim card not making connections properlly will cause the phone to reboot, as i found out when i first got my desire hd, my 15 year old simcard was too worn to make a clean connection. once i went down to the tmobile shop they descovered it was that at fault after i said the phone was knackard.
simcards will compress very slightly over its life causing poorer connections.
if the problem has now dissapeared it may be worth your while getting a new sim if it is of age.

Yep, t-mobile has always been good to me (actually the card was 121 printed on it).
Hello guys,
Funny thing, I gave my dad a DHD to play around with (hoping that he will finally get rid of his BB), just a few days ago in his office he mistakingly dropped it 7 floors down to the parking lot.
Amazing, just amazing, except a few bumps here and there, a cracked Sim cover and a bit broken battery cover, the DHD came back to working without and problem.
I am sure if it did not happen to me I would have been sceptic, but IT REALLY HAPPENED.
Thumbs up htc for a strong unit.
I dropped mine from my pocket and nothing happened, not even a scratch.
I'm gonna report an incident I've reported again in the forums.
When I first got my DHD,about one week if I remember well,I went for a drink with some friends. Before we went to the pub we usually go to,we wanted to eat something,so we went to this fast food. While we were waiting for our food,we were saying the usual bull**** we always say with the guys.Sometimes though we tend to pull the strings, and I told one of them off badly,so he decided to punch my leg.Unfortunately, with his full strength, his fist landed on my new, shiny and unprotected DHD,which was in my pocket. As soon as I realised it,my heart went at the kidney's place, the kidney went at my stomach's place and my stomach went all the way to my head out fear!
Next day?My DHD was like nothing happened and my pal's hand was almost broken.
Yep,thumbs up HTC!
yea, it was pretty weird and once in a while... I hit the power button and it is OFF again, not rebooting... off, hitting the wake button turns it back on.... might be software etc....
but on that day, it was happening every 2o minutes, lol
I love htcs design.

Worst (stupid) mistakes you've done with evo

I was watching tv when i noticed my evo wasn charged(even though i plugged it in for like 1hr.) and i though it might be broken charger since its really old, but didnt know the wall port was malfunctioning
so i decided to wipe battery stats and charge it with pc, as im booting into recovery im cleaning my screen, wiping it with my shirt.I got distracted for bit(stupid TV) that when i look down to the phone , it had already booted and since i have touch recovery, lucky me had partitioned sd card accidently!!!!!!
at first i pressed back key then power button cus i had no idea what that meant, but it compleated . so i power on the phone when i found out what partinioned meant by lookin at my homescree , i went into file explorer and everything was gone, F*CKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. And i have no idea if i can ever get it back DAMNN
so have u guys done something stupid like thatwiht your phone???please share lol , cus i guess i dont want to feel like the only dumbass lol
p.s.
if somone has done something similar and got files back, HELP MEE
I bought one.

Back when GB came out, I unrooted, S-ON'ed, and took the OTA like a lot of people did and lost root for months. In my defense though, this is my first Android phone and it was the first OTA since I had rooted and I didn't know the dangers of taking OTA's and patched bootloaders, etc. Lesson learned.

I have made many mistakes, ive probably bricked my phone a dozen times. I ****ed up my charger port, due to always having it on the charger and then tripping over the cord so many times, so the port no longer works. And I broke all of the hard clips on the exoskeleton on my seideo case.
i kno i can prolly find the files on my pc, but im just tripping over the titaniumbackup folder cus ive used sd recover software but it finds folders with weird names
i still cant believe that out off all the options, i ended up pressing sd partition.
touch recovery doesnt sound so cool after this.. lol
My worst thing was opening this thread.
Lol just kidding. My worst thing was stressing over sprint giving me a refurb when my USB port got loose so I sent it to HTC and got one anyway. they were smart enough to keep my original housing though.

i haven't really done anything terribly stupid with it. i almost dropped it in a puddle once... it slipped out of my hand while i was texting in the rain.. ok well, that's stupid. anyways, as it fell, i kicked it onto the sidewalk before it hit the water. thank god i didn't break the screen, i kicked it really ****ing hard. i was more worried about it getting wet than replacing the screen since thats cheaply fixable. anyways, this phone's been great. the build quality, though not fantastic, is a lot better than my previous smartphones. these things are still new, they're still working out all the kinks i'm sure.

The worst mistakes I've done with my EVO is drop it a few times on accident. And I have a habit of trying to get up while the phone is charging. I dropped mine in a toilet once because I was using it while taking a piss and then tried to zip up my fly with the hand that was holding it. Yeahhh not one of my best moments. Anyways, after a day in rice, it's worked fine ever since.
Worst thing I did with my evo4g is trade it+$60 for a evo3d with the 1.5 hboot. :banghead:
Wiped sd card on accident instead of format/system. Lost my restore points and ...everything else. Luckily i put my pics on the computer every once in a while.
Yea.....
Worse thing I did was, during an alcohol-fueled night out, try to plug my phone into the car charger. (I was in the passenger seat, not driving) This would have been perfectly fine, had the port I was trying to force my plug into not been the mHDMI out port. Now I no longer have HDMI Out as the little white thing on the inside is busted.
Glad I didn't drop my phone in my drink like my bud did that same night lol

Worst thing i've done with my Evo(aside from the standard cycle of breaking/fixing software-wise) would be dropping it off my motorcycle at 40 mph. Thank God for Otterbox cases and riding in the right-hand lane!
Hey,
I got to college early one day and had to take a stop at the rest room, so I put my back pack down and there was this little soap tray on the sink and I put my phone on that. I am taking care of business and I hear my phone drop. I thought nothing of it I was like Il get it out of the sink later. But then I realized it the sink had an auto sensor! I honestly how no idea how on earth it didnt go off when my phone fell in, and I had no idea how the heck I was going to get it out. so I just did a ninja grab and pulled it out and luckily it didnt go off but gosh it scared the crap out of me lol

All I can say is, be sure to secure your vids and pics before coming home from out of town work and letting your girlfriend mess with your phone.

In the process of trying to help someone fix their device, looking for an ENG build I decided to download and install the Pre-Release ROM for the EVO. The thing had an HBOOT version of 0.68 (which I'd never even heard of before), and it was an nb0 file, not an img file. Me, of course, being completely fearless and looking forward to a challenge decided to try and flash the thing, and guess what? it flashed successfully. I figured that if it wasn't compatible, it would error out, so I was feeling pretty comfortable, until I tried rebooting my bootloader. The device turned on, but nothing. Just a backlit, blank screen. My splash screen was gone. My bootloader was gone. Though, the phone does boot up, and I hear a startup animation sound, and several notification-type sounds. However, the device is no longer recognized by a computer, and thus I can't access adb or fastboot.
So, I'm stuck with a bricked device, waiting & hoping that a refurb becomes available soon. In the meantime, my only device is my old AT&T Tilt 2, which, of course, has no service. I've been specding the last day try to find a way to make phone calls from it using Google Voice, and I've come pretty close actually.
You never realize how much you appreciate your device until you kill it. I just hope no one's been trying to call me . . . .
