I'm currently using a Nexus 6P and love the "pure" Android environment it offers.
I'm also reviving my S5 and would like to know which Marshmallow, non-TW ROM would give me closest thing to that experience.
My S5 is currently on NK2, and rooted with an unlocked bootloader.
Thanks
You can try CM

I have just rooted my newely aquired Nexus 7 land want tot install a custom ROM. At least i think i do. Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between the stock nexus 7 and an aosp rom.
I have always had custom ROMs installed on my S3 and there the difference is pretty clear. Here it seems like stock and aosp are the same. So maybe a stock based ROM like cleanrom would be a good choice?
Don't forget AOKP!
I would also like this clarifying in laymans terms, as AOSP and AOKP pickle me !

Yes, AOSP is Google unmodified rom (base for other vendors like HTC .. etc)
Nexus 7 is Google device = AOSP rom
AOKP rom and Cyanogenmod is an open source replacement firmware for smart phones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices. (wiki quote)
Great. So installing Paranoid Android would basically give me Nexus 7 stock with some added features.
Exactly what I was after.
Hello,
I have an S4 and am very happy about the ROM I am using (Dandroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539361).
I am tempted to buy an S5, but only if I can root it to a very pure ROM (ie. as stripped of anything non google as possible).
Which hardware would you recommend buying, and for which ROM?

hello!
Since you are already using S4, you must be aware that S5 will too come loaded with the touchwiz interface. All variants will have the same interface. Since you are into custom ROMs, I would suggest you go with the Snapdragon based version of S5 because that version has more support from the great developers here at XDA than the Exynos based version.
Have a look at Xtrestolite rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
this rom is extremely debloated and I am at the moment using the Exynos version of this Rom and I am more than satisfied with it.
Good luck!
..
Every other Galaxy phone I've had I would have had similar worries, but TW on the S5 actually isn't that bad and is the first time I haven't wanted a custom Rom.
Wait for the Nexus 6!
No offense to Samsung, but I kinda hate the touchwiz and all the other clunky components of the s5 running lollipop. Unfortunately I didn't know this when I bought my s5 for $800 or I would have gotten a nexus instead. I've been told by a friend that it's possible to get the firmware used on the nexus 6 (the original lollipop) on my s5 if I root. I'm not afraid of rooting, but I can't seem to find anything about getting the unaltered lollipop on my s5. I don't know if this is even possible, but material design is the reason for my existence at the moment and my s5 running lollipop doesn't have enough of it. Thanks in advance if anyone replies.
(btw, searching for "stock lollipop on s5" in google only gives me the samsung-altered firmware for the s5, so I was hoping someone here could help)
Its just a different rom (custom rom) like CM12, Blisspop, aicp, ressurection remix.... Search the s5 Unified development section here in s5 XDA and you'll find those roms which are completely stock like nexus roms
Hello,
I am handing over my Nexus 4 to the wife to use. It is unlocked, with twrp ready and running.
Can someone advise on the latest flashable stock rom, anything that is bells and whistles free, stable and with best battery life.
Any rom is fine, Lollipop probably is the best owing to stability. Like I said, not bothered about added goodies so long as the Nexus 4 runs well. Or else I'll be nagged to death!!
Thanks.
Fake Nexus ROM Marshmallow version?
What's the best 4.4.4 rom for the S4? I don't care about anything else. I'm currently running a oreo-based rom and I'm having too many problems, I don't like android 5 and 6 and I assume 7 is just gonna be another misery so I want to aim for a kitkat rom.
LOS/AOSP or Touchwiz ?
LineageOS 11.0 could be a good idea, it have the last security patch
