Hello,
I have an S4 and am very happy about the ROM I am using (Dandroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539361).
I am tempted to buy an S5, but only if I can root it to a very pure ROM (ie. as stripped of anything non google as possible).
Which hardware would you recommend buying, and for which ROM?

hello!
Since you are already using S4, you must be aware that S5 will too come loaded with the touchwiz interface. All variants will have the same interface. Since you are into custom ROMs, I would suggest you go with the Snapdragon based version of S5 because that version has more support from the great developers here at XDA than the Exynos based version.
Have a look at Xtrestolite rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
this rom is extremely debloated and I am at the moment using the Exynos version of this Rom and I am more than satisfied with it.
Good luck!
..
Every other Galaxy phone I've had I would have had similar worries, but TW on the S5 actually isn't that bad and is the first time I haven't wanted a custom Rom.
Wait for the Nexus 6!

Hello everyone,
So I really want to make my S4 a google edition because the batter will be alot better. However, the only thing stopping me is Samsung awesome Camera. Any ideas? What you all think is it worth it??
Thanks
Definitely go with the i9505. You have the option to flash a GE rom if you really want to and also all the custom Touchwiz roms on offer.
I think you may be able to flash Touchwiz roms on the i9505G but all roms in the i9505 forums flash straight on to the phone without needing any modification to updater-script or kernels.
and IMO Touchwiz is actually really good on battery, certainly better than the GE rom's I've tried but of course that's subject to use
You definitely have more options with the 9505. And actually the ROMs aren't that great. From my experience TW ROMs have the best battery life from all ROMs, GE and CM included.

Thanks for the input that is what I was expecting!
Can you guys clarify which versions are which.

The i9505G is the Google Edition of the SGS4. At this point it is only able to run Google Edition ROMs which are pretty much stock Android. There are ways to get CM working but you have to modify things to get it working Afaik there are some people working on a TW port for this version.
The i9505 is the official Samsung version which runs TW. But it can also run Goolge Edition ROMs and AOSP based ROMs e.g. CM or PA without any modifications.

I have an international version of the S4, the jfltexx version. I justflashed it with Jamal's 4.3 GE ROM.
Is my device considered i9505G now?
If i want to install a custom recovery, must I get versions that are for i9505G? (I am assuming i9505 version will not work too well now)

No it stays an i9505. The i9505G has a different bootloader etc. So only by flashing a GE ROM on an i9505 you won't get an i9505G.

I have the an opportunity to trade my Samsung A5 2015 edition for a Samsung S4.
Which variant should I get?
Which has the most development?
Is the trade worth it?

Well, the 2016 A5 might be better or equal to the S4, but the S4 is definitely and improvement over the first A5.
The first generation A5 has a Snapdragon 400 processor, while the S4 has a Snapdragon 600 processor.
That being said, you should get the I9505 model. It has the most custom rom support.

Thanks. I have owned an S4 Mini and that was an awesome little phone, so an S4 would be a big upgrade over the A5
I9500 for sure if u want better touchwiz rom development and also better performance.I9500 has the best S6 Based Port ROM which runs very smoothly.
How does the S4 compare to the S5
One big difference is the i9500 doesn't support 4G/LTE (No antenna.) So you'll need the i9505 if you want to use that.

That's incorrect my friend.
The I9505 and the I9500 have about the same touchwiz development. They both have none. There will be no new Android version for both devices in the future based on Touchwiz. Both are stuck at Android 5.1.
On the other hand the I9505 has superior CM development compared to the I9500. So if you want to keep the latest version of Android go for the I9505.

Both Have S6 Based Port ROM which is 5.0.2 basically but they dont work in the same way.Ale95 Milestone V4 is the best s6 port rom which i9505 doesnt have.I am personally using I9505 but i find i9500 much superior in performance too.I9500 has better TW development and i9505 has better CM development

But it's dying...
With one by one of developers are leaving i9500 development.
For S6 ported ROMs, i9500 is the best because S6 has Exynos SoC too (i9505 is great, they have Astra ROM). But, porting S7 frameworks and apps to i9500 will be making a lot of headache (don't ask me why), so they're just themed instead of being ported.
Edit: Damn, network problems messed up everything...

Hello everybody. Any chance for port Touchwiz from s7 to our s3? This ROM looks beautifull <3
I know kernel for touchwiz is hard to compile but we have good developers so they can try. I can pay for this rom and kernel. PRIV
First, we need working LP port of touchwiz that is funcional ;D
Hey there @LaweK,
What You are currently looking for is already available.
HyperRom -
Hands Down the best touchwiz rom for GT i9300,Im currently using it and couldnt be more satisfied.
However this rom is running on android 4.4.4, and not marshmellow, However the Android Version didnt affect me at all as it was impossible to guess that this rom is 4.4.4 due to the features and its UI, that almost completely mimicks the s7 marshmellow features.
Anyways, I Fully Recommend this Rom To Anyone who owns a Galaxy s3 and prefers the original samsung UI.

I don't like hyper-rom v6, I tested it two days and it was really buggy for me, android 4.4.4 is the past generation of android. I consider since lollipop is a different android so we need to work together to get a good lollipop or marshmallow tw rom for our device.

Hyper Rom is too slow :/ I like mm and lp because this roms was very fast

Well Different Opinions I guess, However HyperRom Was not at all buggy for me nor was it slow [Im also Still using it with no issues.]
Anyway There`s Also Another Touchwiz Rom Ive used Eclipse Rom Together With The Ultimate Marshmellow Mod. Just thought you should know, It is beautiful however proved to be more buggy for me.
Anyways I dont think we are to expect a Android Marshmellow Touchwiz Rom For The S3, Lets Face it This Phone is now 4 years old and we should be suprised on how much support it is still getting.
We Barely Have An Android Kitkat Touchwiz Rom, So we are to get a Lollipop Touchwiz Rom, before Marshmellow, So it Might Take Either a lot of time to happen or it may not happen at all.
Anyways CM13 and CM13.1 Is available right now that is with android marshmellow, So you can try that too if you want.

I once read that someone was porting lp 5.1.1 from a s5 rom. He said that it booted it with lots of bugs and it would not even be in alpha. I'm still searching for that forum I canĀ“t find it . I'll give you a link when I find it :fingers-crossed:
Probably it willl be very hard to port S7 TouchWiz (too RAM consuming), it might be partially ported in future but I suppose it would be slow and buggy.
Can we solve the camera problem by upgrading s3 to s7?
Hello everyone,
I personally never owned a Samsung device (always Nexus and mostly with Paranoid Android or Dirty Unicorns ROM) but my girlfriend has one and she defeniately needs it to be flashed :good:
As I am completely new to Samsung devices, I have no idea about all the developers and different ROMs that are out there for the Samsung Note 4 (Snapdragon).
I don't have much time to try around with different ROMs as it isn't my phone.
I need one that is good, stable, fast (and also supports the stylus / samsung apps). So I can flash it quickly and have a happy girlfriend
So that is the reason I an asking in the first place. Else I would just flash around and keep trying until I find the best fit.
I saw CM is officially supporting the Note 4. So that one might be a good solution. But does it have all those stylus samsung stuff?
Any other ROMs I should check out?
Do I need to flash a new radio?
Thanks in advance and sorry for posting another "which ROM" thread. But I can't really test around to find out on my own as it is not my device that I am going to improve !
If n910g, this is highly recommended, although you have to disable or uninstall later all apps that you don't want if you want a debloated rom.

It is N910F.
The link you provided is simply stock android MM?
Yes stock MM, stock is in my experience the most stable and bug free rom build. But the link is for n910g unfortunately.
Stock ROM, and then debloat yourself. Quite honestly speaking, and no offence to anyone, there are no good ROMs available for Note 4. In fact I myself might have not got the phone if I realised the development section is like this. And I am not interested in ported ROMs, so even though there are many available I won't go that way, and I am too dumb to make a ROM for myself, so stock ROM it is.
I agree, stock rom rooted and debloat it, and apply msm tweaks. If you want, xposed as well.

You must flash samsung based rom to have all soen features and samsung apps. I reconnemed kurama rom which in using , its battery friendly, fast and stock based. If you going to flash kurama rom you must flash modem and bootloader for the rom to boot up (only can be flashed from pc with odin)
hello,
I'm looking for a rom as close as possible to the official n910f stock rom but simply completely unbloated. I'm currently browsing the galaxy note snapdragon roms forums but dont really know which one to choose. Can you please recommand me one, thank you.

You may have to Root and de-bloat it yourself. I'm not sure if there was a de-bloated stock TW rom for the N910F.
I didn't see one for my N910V so I just rooted and removed all the bloat from an OEM rom.
