Best way go switch from standard V4A to V4AAtmos - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Title pretty much sums it up.. It is probably a pretty noobish question, but I don't want to mess anything up playing around with it. I installed the standard V4A and it is pretty awesome, but would like to try the Atmos version. Does anyone think that it would actually be an improvement?

Flashable for ALL SOUNDS [REQ]

If I knew how to do this, I would. I'm requesting that someone take it upon themselves to start a thread in Themes & Apps and make a flashable .zip that will include all the sounds (notifications/ringers/alarms) from all the different phones.
Every time a phone comes out there are a few new sounds to add to the .zip. But it never gets added on to include the old ones, instead it seems to replace them and we lose some of the older ones. Would someone mind doing this? I personally feel you can never have too many sounds, especially some better alarm sounds would be nice.
It could also be done for the Live Wallpapers/Wallpapers.
one time bump. since i posted so late.
There was a cool ringtone I heard on someones rom that was cool as hell.
I don't even like techno/ drum N bass all that much and the damn thing sounded cool as hell.
It was a chick saying "hold me close?" or something and then going in to some hardcore sounding bass line with a crunchy hook on it. I really don't know what I am talking about, but I am definitely with you in saying that we should have a great selection of ringers/notifications and stuff.

Viper4Android settings?

I just installed this and it looks very cool, but it's pretty overwhelming. Any suggestions for which .IRS files work well with headset, speaker, and bluetooth headset? For bluetooth headset I've also got my regular mono one for phone calls, and I have a stereo bluetooth one from Jaybird so I'd assume they use different settings. Speaking of, what do you guys put the settings at as well.
I looked a bit at the Viper4android thread, but it's like 700 pages long.
Before you get you A$$ handed to you for not following the rules i will spare you the moment of humility and provide you with this since i was stuck in the same situation you were but simply went to google and entered "Viper4android settings" and stumbled upon this which HELPED me!!!!!

Oh, I didn't realize I was breaking a rule. You mean we can't discuss optimal settings for an app for our phones? The only rule I see that might be loosely tied is using search, but I have searched. I have searched and am aware of the main 700 page thread, and also the English viper website, none of these have users discussing the G2 specifically. I'd rather avoid that 700+ page thread since I am specifically asking about the G2 in the G2 forums and what settings work well for others.
Just to repeat, I'm not looking on how to get the program to run or install it, I am looking for other G2 owners feedback on which particular modes worked well for them. I thought it might be a nice discussion.
If I'm breaking the rules please delete my thread then, my apologies.
Moving on..
I don't use the bluetooth headset so I can't help you on that.
But for the headset, I realised that using the xHifi setting under clarity gives quite a little whitenoise. But not using makes your music sound muffled , so I guess it's a trade off(unless you know how to configure the IRS files). I am using my mid range sennheiser CX-300II without any IRS filters, cos none of them work well. You could try loading everything into the folder and going through them 1 by 1, or even making the file which is rather tedious. I couldn't be bothered, the playbackgain control and dynamic system is enough for me.
If you plug your phone into powerful speakers (I have a bose 321 but damn those things make the windows shake) you MUST turn off the VIPER bass and reduce the dynamic bass to ~15%. Differential surround(Haas effect) makes the sound sound off center on speakers so avoid it.
I noticed G2 doesn't have music effect setting, am i suppose to assume that viper is on?
No it's not that simple. What I did was:
1. Install the drivers
2. Backup build.prop then change the lines specified in the main thread for Viper
3. Install google play(doesn't work on stock LG player for me)
3b. (unsure if really necessary) Disable stock LG player
4. Reboot
5. Wait for boot to complete and see all the superSU permission flashing...
6. Play something, then go into viper, enable the first option on the speaker tab and check the "driver status". It should say that it is installed/normal, that it is enabled and that it is processing. To really be sure go play around with the settings but be careful with the gain (don't ramp it sky high and drop your phone in shock)
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T
I just installed the app and it does all the necessary things for you. But still, Viper4Android sucks for our phone. The driver it installs significantly lowers the audio quality. With a huge amount of tweaking you can finally get the quality back up to where the G2 is at stock. Everyone is better off not using this mod for the G2 unless the author gets a much better audio driver designed for our chipset
check out the V4A audio profiles... it gives a great shares from people on settings... try them and check out the one you prefer

Yeah I don't know how happy I am with this app yet. I can get stuff louder, but I hear more distortion, but I have to play around a bit. One odd thing is that different things have different volumes after installing this. For example, my speaker phone when in a call is nice and loud, but when checking voicemail it is very quiet, kind of odd and I can't figure out how to selectively fix these things so I may be forced to uninstall.

I think you guys really don't know what you're taking about. The clarity viper adds to the sound on both my stereo and my headphones is absolutely unreal. After having set up viper, I think the biggest flaw of a stock g2 might be the dull und muffled sound it transfers to proper speakers.

Think what you want but the drivers this uses noticeably took away from clarity in all aspects of the sound. Every speaker setup can sound different so maybe this type of sound just works better for you, my high end systems though it definitely takes a lot away from the audio

That's good news to me. Can you post up exactly what settings, .irs files, etc you have? I'd be most interested in phone-speaker settings, but I wouldn't mind just piggybacking off you since you say you have such stellar results.

neither am I nore do I have a high end soundsystem so I don't notice the difference to the worse. Who listens to anything on a high end soundsystem through a phone?
On my dynavoice speakers and my b&w headphones my music gets several different new dimensions using viper, regardless of the code of the driver.
Edit: of course every setup and every set of ears gets different subjective results. But it's so obvious that the sound is so much better with viper

This is my headphones profile. I haven't set up one for the phone speakers. It's a modified copy of something I found somewhere on xda. I guess you can just create a headphone profile yourself and then copy in the following text instead of what it says in your backed up profile. But I'm not sure if that will work or if it will destroy your phone and kill your family. You will find your profiles (once they are backed up) under storage/emulated/0/viper4android/profile. This works on my headphones and with my ears, that doesn't mean it will work for you. Here it goes:

[Q] Thoughts on Rooting

Hey All,
I have a S6 Edge+ (928I) and im not sure whether i should root the device or not and I am just wondering what people thoughts were on this?
I am not bothered about Samsung Pay or Warranty but would love to be able to use the Comm bank app (Australia) / NFC Pay...not sure if works with root or not..
Also I love ViperFX and Dolby but the stock Samsung sound on this device is pretty good with the HQ mode turned on..I used Viperfx on my old phone (Note edge) and i use SOL Master Tracks X3 headphones but the S6 Edge+ has a better souncard as far as im aware and viper was awesome but im not sure just how much better it would be...
Also i love changing themes and tweaking the look where i can so custom ROM has always been more my style but with this phone rooting seems to be a bigger decision and im not sure what I would lose or gain by doing it?
So my question is..does any1 know if comm bank app works after rooted? what other features dont work after root? is viper much better than stock sound?
EDIT: NVM took the gamble and rooted...curiosity got the better of me!

Music Mod [XtremeMusic][V4A][Dolby Atmos]

Hello everyone
Found a very useful sound mo - latest version works on Z5C, with Xpower 5, Z3C (Confirmed) and probably others.

Installed the latest (Non systemless one) pretty sure it was version 7.9 or something.
And yeah the difference in what you can change, if you know what you are doing, it can sound amazing
Well they're not bad
Quite good
Can get more bass out of the stock player
And i noticed the sound also doesnt go over the normal volume limit which is nice
Do we have to use the stock music app to see some changes or it works with every music app (I've Soundcloud in mind) ?
Mwa, using 10 different audiomods is overkill. This is just a combination of 4 equalizers, 5 bass boosters, 6 sound enhancers and so on. It's true that a good sound mod can improve your sound a lot, but only if you use it in a clever way.
I used this for a while, but I removed these mods because this just doesn't work. It does give you a lot of extra bass and treble, but it also amplifies noise. Not just a little bit, but a lot. If you just stick to one mod (like Viper4Android) it's much better for your sound and you have more control.
I used to use this soundmod back on the Xperia Z2 that enhances bass and clarity, however it also became one of these "Supermods". Too many audio engines running would kill your battery (as to what I've read) and most of them overlapping would just give you a placebo effect. Good share though. I have been tempted to flash one of these supermods again, I guess I'll be holding back for now.

Adding DOLBY ATMOS

I came across this video which explains it for for "all devices".
I think Davey installs Dolby files in his tool.
Perhaps he will see this and let us know which Dolby Atmos version works on Thor and Apollo.
If you use this, does it make movies and music sound MUCH better?
If anyone else knows, please provide info.
Thanks!

I flashed various Dolby packages on different ROMs; don't recall if this was one of them. All made a noticeable difference but not always favorable to my liking. Biggest hassle was the variable output levels depending on content. In the end benefits did not justify the effort; no longer part of my 'core' suite. Be sure whatever package(s) you try include a method for uninstalling. Also recommend taking a backup of the system partition. Had some installs go bad; likely a conflict with Xposed framework.

ahhh, good to know.
I had a feeling that this was not going to give you that surround sound feel or am I wrong on this thought.
It would be cool if watching movies sounded MUCH better with Atmos vs. stock no Atmos.

Did you notice a big difference? I don't really use my tablet to watch movies on or listen to music.
I spent a lot of time trying to get this Kindle working (days) so I am cautious of installing things that can lead to problems.
I would appreciate if you linked to the files we have to use. I know where to find Magisk.

That's one reason I dumped Dolby; extra complexity for marginal benefit and difficulty uninstalling sans clean flash. That was enough for me.

That's the sentiment I had. I will leave well enough alone....things are working nicely. I don't expect tablet to sound like a surround sound experience.
