[G935FD Exynos] Restored nandroid with fingerprints enabled, could unlock it but... - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey there! It's well known that you should not be making a backup if fingerprints are enabled, but I was dumb enough to make my backup with the fingerprints enabled, so when I restored it, even if I put the wrong pattern/pass the phone won't pass the first lockscreen after boot that won't let you use your fingerprints to unlock the phone for the first time.
Thing is, I found a way to avoid this by wiping the lock from the samsung's web tool (Find My Mobile - Luckily I had this configured when I made the backup). So then you use that option, you can access your phone again and create another security method that will work at least using fingerprints, because it wont let you use your pattern as it will fail and reload the lock screen. The problem presents when you reboot your phone, because you can only use the password and it will be allways broken, even if it's different from the one that came with the nandroid backup.
Is there a way to override the password at the first boot so the phone can be unlocked with fingerprints even at the first boot? Or should I reinstall the rom and configure it all again so the lock screen works again?
Thanks in advance!

Are you on TEK's ROM?

All sensors stop working

Hi,
After upgrading to KitKat and a custom ROM I have been having multiple issues with sensors. I have factory reset several times and clean flashed a few different ROMs but with the same result. The sensors do initially work but then just suddenly stop for no apparent reason.
I have also restored from my efs backup but this has not helped.
Any other suggestions?
Cheers
Any help, please?
I would suggest going back to pure stock 4.2.2 off samimobile first the full reset from Samsung recovery and wipe. You don't mention which custom roms ? Try that first though... Let me know !!
Full wipe your phone in recovery System, firmware,... Etc then reboot directly from CWM recovery in advance settings to download(odin mod) and flash the stock ROM.
make sure you back up everything.
Hope it helps

Hi,
Did as both of you suggested but the problem still occurs. This is on X-note but also occurred on Omega. At a bit of a loss here as reverting to stock doesn't seem to help. I flashed the UK 02 rom as EE have not released 4.4.2 yet.
Any further suggestions?
Cheers

Unable to connect to the camera because it is being used by other apps or disabled...

Unable to connect to the camera because it is being used by other apps or disabled due to security policies.
This is the error message I keep getting whenever launching my camera. I've tried factory reset but the error still persists. I can try and get a logcat but I'll be completely honest I've never done my own logcat before.
Any help appreciated, thanks for looking.
Does your camera work after a fresh reboot? Does it stop working after awhile? There might be a runaway app hogging your camera. Usual culprits are camera apps, face unlock and custom lockscreens.

Rebooting doesn't help. The front camera works fine until I switch over to the rear camera.

I added the line to add navigation bar to phone (it doesn't work)
From my experience so far with the Axon 7, tweaking certain things on the build.prop crashes the phone. When I tried to make enable multi-windows by changing the "user" to "userdebug", it caused the same problem you were having. Nothing fixed it; not restarting, system wipe, changing the build.prop to its original setting... nothing. I simple had to restore my phone from a previous backup. Hopefully, you did do a clean backup of your device. If not, then that is a common rookie mistake. Sorry to break this down to you. I hope that this was helpful.
Only time I've seen this error, is when I downloaded a different camera from the Playstore and tried to open it the same time my stock camera was running in the background.
You don't have any other camera's installed or have an app that is open that uses your camera (like Snapchat, ect..)?
I'm sure you don't, but just throwing something out to try/check.
Just restore system from previous backup like B4oE said, if you did not make a backup just download one of the twrp backups uploaded by the users around the forums. make sure to download the correct version either b20 or b20_boot. what version are you on? did you root using tenfar + locked bootloader?

Backup

So you guys seem to load ROMs on your phone like my wife tells me I'm fat. What is your backup strategy? What tools do you use? I plan on helping the community by testing new ROMs but would like the phone to not be down for huge amounts of time and be able to revert to a known good configuration when a ROM goes bad.
Thanks

TWRP recovery makes full backups that you can revert to. It'll be like nothing wrong happened. Only takes about 2 minutes and it's up to you how often you do it. I make backups whenever I make major changes or flash a new ROM.
Thanks for info I'll do that

Yes, TWRP with a recent backup is like having a magical time machine. VERY important when you are rooted (being total admin of your handheld computer) and you are flashing new stuff which may be FANTASTIC or may be very buggy.
"Wow, wish I could go back to yesterday when my phone was working great!" You can.
I make a backup almost every day (or at least every other day), just as part of a morning routine, since it takes almost no effort and is cheap insurance. When I'm at work, I boot my phone into TWRP recovery, start the backup. Pick up the phone a few minutes later, delete the previous backup (I only keep one at a time), and then reboot the phone.
At least 3 or 4 times a year, I am VERY glad I made a backup.
You can even transfer off a backup file to a PC or elsewhere for safe-keeping if you wish.
Thanks did my first backup...

Probably a different conversation, but what about when you install from a fresh new ROM? Do you just download everything back from the play store? And configure your software from scratch or is there and easy method for that?

Titanium backup can backup apps and your settings that you can restore once you flash a fresh ROM.

I backup with a new hack. Or iffy vulnerability.
Otherwise I just flash.
Pictures are on Google photo backup
Phone numbers are on Google cloud,
All I have to do is install a working ROM and if I have to I can use twrp and a cable to transfer it over.
Is there a way to backup just app data, titanium took forever to restore apps and data. I found it easier to restore via google, but now have to restore all app data

How to recover G935P Sprint finger print after remote unlock by ebay?

I write from Brazil, I own a SM-G935P Sprint and unlocked remotely through ebay. Data, telephone, sms, everything works perfectly but the finger print has stopped. How can I recover it?
I beg your pardon for my little English.
Thank you in advance, Hugs from Brazil, friends

In Settings -> About Device -> Status, does it say Official or Custom?
If it says Custom, the guy probably forgot to flash your phone back to Stock. The engineering bootloader will deactivate fingerprint sensor. You can fix it by flashing the Stock ROM back to your phone.

Flashing the stock ROM won't undo the Domestic SIM Unlock. Flashing will wipe your data so just backup all your important stuff first (photos, music, etc).

I installed via odin to Stock Rom and it all worked again. I did not lose the unlock and it was a success.
Here is the Room link I used
QE1: https://www.gizrom.com/g935pvps4bqe1-sprint-galaxy-s7-edge-sm-g935p-firmware/
Just a question, if I install another version other than QE1 I have a problem? Or can I migrate to room U, PK1, QAA etc?

Don't really understand your English, but if you getting signal bars but no data you would need to follow the instructions that can be founded in many threads. I'll however paste it here for you.
Step 1 - Download Shortcut Master Lite from the Play Store.
Step 2 - Open Shortcut Master Lite and select the Menu (three vertical dots in the upper right).
Step 3 - Select App Explorer, and then All Apps
Step 4 – Navigate (scroll down) to com.test.LTEfunctionality and select.
Step 5 – Select the first item labled "LTEFunctionalityTest" and select launch.
Step 6 – Scroll down to LTE APN Setting and select.
Step 7 – Select the APN setting to edit or select add to add your own.
Step 8 – After editing or adding APN settings, select menu and save your settings.
Congratulations, you have successfully edited and saved your APN settings.

Anyone know how to solve this?

Please see pic:
thanks

So what have you done so far? Are you running stock 8.0? Oreo has encryption issues in TWRP. The fastest and kinda a temporary way to fix this is to format data. After formatting data reboot back into recovery then flash whatever you need to.
Magisk installed fine for me without mounting data. I get the same error but it still worked.
Impossible to make a full backup in twrp woth this G6.
Its doing my head in!!!!
Troed every version of twrp.
Crap
I should sell it!
