Inverted Color Homekey Shortcut - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me with a small annoyance I am having with my 7 Edge. In most/all of the previous stock S phones that I've had, pressing the home button 3 times quickly would enable negative view (invert the color).
Unfortunately the 7 Edge does not appear to have this feature. I've had a google around and have come back with nothing. The only thing I found was going in via the Accessibility/ Vision and enabling it that way. This is kind of annoying.
So is there a way to
a) enable the triple home button press, b) create an icon/shortcut to the vision settings, so that could be set on the edge slide thing. (as in directly into vision section of Accessibility. Not general settings)
The phone is not rooted and i would prefer to keep it that way.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Among the Accessibility settings there should be a Direct Access menu with the option to enable the triple home button push and associate it with the color schema change.

Tips And Tricks

Hey guys I just wanted to start a thread and see what sort of tricks people have discovered on their Nexus One. This may also help future N1 owner.
If you hold down the menu button anywhere it pulls up the keyboard and hold it down again to hide the keyboard.
You can use the trackball as a dedicated camera button.
edit: by "use the trackball," i mean pushing down on it.

right my mistake
wrapping it in a heating pad works better than a hair drier. (for the clicking screen thing)
lol, I guess this is a flaw fix
Typing *#*#4636#*#* into the phone will bring up a screen titled "Testing", with four other child screens:
Phone Information: details on the phone radio, data status and ip address, and options to turn on/off 3g.
Battery Information: the current status of the battery; level, health etc
Battery History: battery/cpu/network usage stats
Usage Statistics: Stats on usage time/launch count/application name
Pressing and holding the "Grey Dots" brings up all of the home screens for you to select...instead of scrolling to them.
Oh, thanks for the tip on holding the menu key to show/hide the keyboard.
I used to use the swipe from the T down to space bar to hide the keyboard, but this is much quicker and easier to do.
For folks that want to verify if they've properly unlocked their bootloaders, and also how to verify you have root access to your phone.
Unlocked Bootloader Check:
1. On initially booting your N1, there'll be the normal 'X' logo, but right under it there's an icon of an unlocked padlock.
2. Alternately, you could hold down the trackball during boot up (this will put you directly in bootloader mode) and at the top of the screen you'll see a notification that it's unlocked.
Root Access Check:
Install the 'Nexus One Torch' app (free market app). This program requires root access in order to control the LED. So if it works, you'd got root.
Pressing Power + Volume Down + Trackball at the same time will restart the phone.
Holding down trackball AFTER the non animated splash logo shows up will boot your phone into SAFE MODE.
Any application to reboot without going thru the button combination?

well you can always just type the command adb reboot
Long press on the circles in to either side of the applications grid and it will bring up thumbnails of all 5 of your home screens.
Tap the menu button while on home screen will give you shortcut to settings

Easier to just use AnyCut from the Market (free), Activities -> Battery History etc.
Something I haven't seen posted anywhere else:
If you're using Dolphin Browser, kinetic screen scrolling is additive, meaning scrolling multiple times (while moving) makes it scroll faster and faster.

Multi-tasking interface improvement

I was just reading about webOS and how good its interface is when dealing with multi-tasking and I realised how poor androids multi-tasking interface is. The only way I know to switch between running apps is to hold home button for a few seconds...
I personally think this can be improved by having thumbnails of open apps popup when the home button is single pressed on a home screen. Just as at the moment previews of all the home screens popup I think this should be switched with open app previews. I rarely ever use the home screen preview thing so i think its wasted, but I definitely would use app selector if little thumbnails showed.
Anybody have any thoughts on this? Im not a developer so I have no idea if this is possible but I think it would be a good feature to add and improve android. Do any devs think they can implement this??
Moved to general as not ROM development.
This would be a feature for a launcher app, so might be worth suggesting to someone like Fede who develops Launcher Pro, or cyanogenmod people that make ADW?
yes you are right. thanks. I was too lazy to find the relevant section to post under. will try contacting anderweb. or fede.
There are a couple of apps which overlays a screen on top of the current app you are in by tapping home twice, you can then open apps/access widgets without having to go back to homescreen first.
Currently im using 'smart taskbar', you can set the activation mode to be (1) tapping on a half-circle spot on either side of your screen or (2) swiping from one side to another. You can then open from a list of 5 'pinned' apps or choose from the mini apps drawer below, or click a tab called 'running' which seems the same as the current holding on home button behavior.
check out power strip. allows you to get a popup window where ever you are by doubble tapping home button (ore long press search button). there you can have quick access to widgets, shortcuts etc. really cool.

Galaxy S6, S6 Edge(+) Missing menu button SOLVED! (well an easy work around) =)

Here is the temp fix guys the problem is a lot of apps detect if there is a hardware menu button and omit showing the soft 3 dot button common in a lot of apps. The S5 has no dedicated menu button but it does have the long press home button option to launch the More options/Menu button, however out Galaxy S6 models do not have this option. BUT some apps still detect it and delete their in app button.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
At the top right slide the off button to on to enable the Assistant menu icon on all screens. Then click on the Edit option. In the edit menu deselect all the buttons you do not need by hitting the red negative on the icons (-) in the upper part of the screen. (note it has two buttons that you cannot remove Home Screen, and Menu Settings) on the bottom half of the page hit the green plus sign (+) on the More Options button (It has 3 dots). (note there are lots of other buttons you can add)
Now on all screens is a little round button with 4 dots on it, it appears on all screens in all programs and is floating. There is the More options button now which is the software menu button we are missing =). You can just go back and disable Assistant menu afterward or like me leave this handy button on because I have multiple programs that do this.
Hope this helps guys Cheers! :good:

Not in all applications. Must be coded in the app.
This works for me! Galaxy S6, Marshmallow
Thank you for taking the time to share this information! I am posting the link to your post within the app's review mechanism to help other users of the app I am having the 'missing menu button' issue with.

No? Or please tell me what "***" menu is called in that app, it seems missing.

Button Settings are not available in General Settings

Maybe there is no this func, but I saw on the demo in youtube that there should be a possibility to customize hardware buttons behavior. Also should be possible to enable swipe on Home button.
If you type in search box in General Settings keyword "camera" it will show you that there should be some settings in Buttons, to set behavior. But if you press on context link - it shows button menu but very limited.
Do you have one?
Thanks

If I'm not wrong swipe on Home is available on ZUI home, not Cyanogen OS.
On Buttons menu you can set home long press action, home doube tap action (doesn't work on latest update).
I personally use "All In One Gestures" app to configure buttons

Thanks a lot. I will try!
The reason is I would like to set a camera on double tap action and cannot find how to do it by default.

In Settings -> About Phone turn on Advanced mode. Then you can configure buttons. I have it set up just as you'd like it, double tap for camera, works perfectly for me with latest update.

Menu button option need HELP?

What does "Menu button" option do if check or uncheck the box?
Settled in Settings-->Phone-->Display, gestures & buttons-->Buttons-->"Menu button (check box)"
TNX
When checked it adds an on screen floating menu button in legacy apps that don't already provide an on screen menu button.
It is essentially an option for backwards compatibility with apps designed for the era of Android devices they had physical menu buttons.
Tnx a lot!
Just one more question:
- How to lock one (or many) apps in Recent Apps? When i click Clear All that app not to clear and stay always active?
I need that but i dont know a sollution
