Need to move game data to External SD card - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As we have only 16 gb internal memory and all apps are installed on the internal memory I have only 2 gb left on it. So how can I install and play hd games which needs 1.5 gb space to install and without hampering my phone performance.... Please help....

That's a very old way to do things...
@mithips
You need adoptable storage, and must be on Android Marshmallow first. You should already have it if you did all your ZE550KL updates.
See the guides I've found here to enable it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone-2-laser/help/enable-adoptable-storage-asus-android-t3419252

No it doesn't, some manufacturers like Samsung, LG and Asus disable it for "performance reasons".

I can't confirm for ZE550KL, but it's a generic procedure for any Android 6.
Because the procedure don't need flashing or root, you will not have any problems, it's safe to do it.

Moving apps to ExtSD

Hi guys,
I've just recently bought my Tab 2 10.1" (P5110) with 16GB (with only 12 GB I can actually use), and decided to turn it into a gaming device. I started installing some heavy games from the Market but after only like, 6 of them, I started running out of space. I inserted a 32GB SDCard but I don't know how can I move some of my apps there, and would like some assistance.
Another question, since I can't post in devforum: I rooted my device following this guide:

ever since then I am trying to update to 4.0.4 using Settings > About > Update , and I can't, getting some kind of signature invalid error.
Help updating will also be really appreciated.
For games try apps like directory bind, gl2sd or app2sd may work
For updates Try to flash a stock firmware from www.samfirmware.com choose firmware 4.0.4 for you device if you use mobile odin pro paid version from market then you can keep root and will not have to root again by checking everroot option in setting

GL2SD works fine for me. I am successfully running with a 64GB external SD. So nice to move the large data directories over to the external SD. Not the most elegant interface, but it works.
Update.... I am now running Directory Bind - and it is by far the best solution.
sygic satnav software allows you to manually move the large map folder to the EXT SD with out a problem, if they can do it, why cant others

On the first question: some good advices have already been given. You can also check in the settings of your games: maybe they allow to to specify a data path on the external sd card.
On the second question: this is normal. You have rooted your device and therefore the (Samsung) update via settings does not work anymore. Instead you have to flash a 4.0.4 (or 4.1.1) rom of your liking.

Smartisan OS out for Note 2

As the title states this Chinese ROM has been released for our phone. From what I gather it is similar to MIUI in the sense of it being a rather hefty redesign of the default Android UI.
Did anyone get to try it on their phone ?
You can grab it from here : http://www.smartisan.cn/download.html

Was just about to reflash to another ROM and the OTA Updater on Smartisan notified of an Alpha Update.
Seemingly some call recording functions added now and recording editing possibilities.
The clock seems to get an overhaul as well.

Make sure you have updated CWM recovery since it's 4.2.2
Backup EFS (Dr Ketan has a good tool for it,check his thread)
install from .zip as usual.
For root access, i found this on SGS3 Q&A Forum:

For those like me, do test in Chinese rom Smartisan OS, and want to root, use this link, and flash in recovery, go to the icon Su and run it, it worked for me in 90%, reinstalled my APPs by Titatiun Backup just can not acessoa the backup folder Titaniun that is on the card, but transfer this folder to the internal memory and I could install 90% of my apps.
I used this link:
http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shar...18152&third=15
==============================================================================================================================================================
Flashed , then i ran titanium restore w/o issues.
After flashing update via OTA, root access was kept.

How big are the 2 roms you want to boot with?
Internal storage is only 16GB with a lot less of available space once you have a full rom loaded.
So it's simply not really possible with two daily used roms.
Better you swith rom using full twrp backup. Then you already have multiple boot support via this workaround.
I thing if dual boot work for meizu ... we can test any rom without replace our daily rom.
Thx ...

Setup your daily ROM. Backup via twrp on SD.
Wipe everything except internal, SD & USB storage.
Flash a second daily ROM. Backup via twrp on SD and so on.
When you want to use a specific ROM. Boot recovery, wipe all except all kinds of storage. Restore the ROM you want to use.

So?
Have you ever used a dual boot kernel before?
How much space do you have left in your internal storage?
Do you you think you have enough room for a second ROM (daily used?).
Because in my case I don't.
So why so much trouble?

Use SD as internal storage

Hello All

I only found one article on XDA. Can someone confirm if this is a working solution?
Thanks

Yes, a lot of apps will be crashing, because most of apps nowdays are not meant to be stored on sd card, and phone storage will never be same as sd card storage, that is why the perfomance will go down.
Well in my opinion is one of the best options to be made to a j5 as it does not have enough storage to support the apps of today so my recommendation would be to put internal sd and leave you the necessary zip to do it
I think better option is to move to to SD card, by doing this i have 2.5 gb available, even though i have so many apps, but still, he can give adoptable storage a try and decide for himself

There is a method for Root users via Root Essentials or work around stock settings. I was able to get Adopted internal storage on stock 6.0.1, No luck on CM13 as the kernel doesent allow it.
@kiwigi I think that better is a debloated Rom and native app2sd. You should test and pick what you find better for you. I personally avoid as much as I can craps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc. which are always the great responsible of out of memory and so.

Thanks. Have you got a suggestion for a debloated tomorrow? Or is there an option of rooting then debloated ourselves?
Or root and move apps to SD?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Actually, googling things like debloated AOSP, debloated Lineage bring us very interesting things. We know that all stock roms need root and our work to recover valuable space. I like the CM/AOSP branded roms. There are lot of threads here in XDA about customize and debloat and apps to do such and that works with SD managing as well ?
Hopefully now there are plenty J5 roms for you to taste and choose.?
I want to use sd card as internal storage, and use it to download large files from playstore, but could not find solution please help.
