Hey everyone. I ordered my Nexus 10 in late March and just had a question: How much actual battery life do you get out of your N10? I found that I was barely able to get a day out of mine and am awaiting a RMA replacement. I did a Netflix test, where I charged it to 100%, unplugged and played Futurama on Netflix. I got about 5 hours 12 minutes before the device shut off. I have my screen brightness at 50% and no apps that would cause heavy background usage.
That is pretty good battery life for 50% screen brightness. I still cant comprehend why people need their brightness at 50% or even higher though.

Some people like me use their tablet in brightly lit rooms and outside which means in order to see the screen you need to have the brightness cranked. I never use my tablet in dim rooms.
7 hours man. That is too much

What do you have your brightness set to?
I'm on on the 2nd charge cycle, but I got almost 5hrs screen time on last charge with about 30% battery left before putting it on the charger. Pretty good in my opinion.

Mostly web surfing, youtube, gmail, G+ and facebook. Not too intensive, I suppose.
I have all sync on except for facebook and display on auto brightness. I also have a strong wifi signal most of the time.
When my tablet is AT HOME WITH ME instead of off cavorting around Samsung repair centers, its day starts about 6:45am. With all my apps and syncing, it lasts me through a work day and then some, going as late as 11:00pm and still being at 30% battery or more, depending on how much gaming I did.

When I am inside it is at minimum (which is still too bright), outside is between 25-35%
For the people who have really low battery, I have a good hunch that the problem is how much wifi sucks up. When I have wifi on I can feel the tablet is much hotter than normal, which means it is dissipating a lot of power. I suspect that the wifi traffic is the 2nd biggest battery drain for people who are browsing all day, the 1st most being the screen itself.

It seems there is a common trend with people who have long battery lives - low brightness. My eyesight is pretty bad so I really can't stand setting it any lower than 40%.
I get about 7 hours before it needs a charge and that's mostly browsing with wifi, which sounds around right according to claimed stats by Google. I'm on around 20% brightness, doesn't need to be higher.
About 8 hours, which is a full workday for me, mostly Evernote/webbrowsing/mails - no gaming. I usuall have ~20% left, so there's 1-2 hours more for emergencies.
I just ran both my original and RMA units side by side, factory reset and unrooted on Youtube playing a 10 hour loop video with brightness set to 100% and at 5h 6 minutes my original N10 hit the 15% warning, the RMA a few minutes later....so I feel kind of bad for wasting Googles time.
I think kernel and ROM have something to do with battery as well as WiFi. I have great signal and use 5ghz and I get great battery life with little drain. Before ras came to the n10 I was using cm and got amazing battery on the kernel it came with but horrible life on paranoid (early build). Also the first trinity kernels had poor battery life for me.

After being skeptical about the G3 after seeing the reviews, my preordered Verizon G3, came in.
The phone doesn't get hot as I heard so much. Maybe just warm but not to the point where it could even be a problem. The brightness is not bad at all as people said it was.
I can't really call it a lag, but on the optimus launcher that came with the phone seem kind of stutters. When I changed it to nova or Buzz, it was super buttery.
I rarely see lag, but it seems like simple graphic games like don't touch the white tiles, which I love, lags.
The screen is absolutely beautiful.
The camera is either hit or run most of the time. Pictures of my dog looks nice, but it has some blurr to it. It was taken indoors at night time.
I also took pictures outdoors, which was fairly dark with,no that much light. It actually looks darker in real life, but the performance in dark was very good.
I don't know why there are so many complaints about this phone. Maybe I just luckily got the one without defects, but I'm loving this phone.
I will post the camera photos soon. Tomorrow I'll probably take some outdoor photos and upload them as well
The battery lasted about almost 5 hours of videos, browsing, and heavy customization with avg brightness at 70%, frequently going to 100% to show off my screen to my friends.
I would like to see some battery results. I will do the same, today is going to be the first day of full use from a full charge (Verizon variant also)

Screen off time is ridiculous. My nexus 4 was off charge for 2 hours (mixed wifi and hspa+), playing local music for 40 minutes and 10 of minutes checking email/apps/web browsing and my battery dropped to 88%. When doing the same with the g3 my battery dropped to something like 97%.

The only way the battery gets calibrated properly is to perform several full charge/discharge cycles. It is not however, advisable to fully discharge the battery.

if u are not rooted then use this method..the phone knows what u are doing and it should re-calibrate any phone
1. once ur phone dies..charge it..dont turn it on
2. let it charge fully until u see the light turn green..unplug the phone
3. turn the phone on..go to the display settings and select the option which makes the screen not turn off..now plug the phone back to charging and charge to full 100% again
4. once thats done unplug the phone and let it drain the battery to 0% let the phone turns off it by itself
5. once loaded to 100% unplug the charger again and do not load until the phone turns itself off after reaching a 0% battery level.
6. once off fully charge it again and it should work properly..the screen setting can put back to normal again
it is a long process but it has to be done this way for the process to work properly

yeah that's not good at all. I did one charge cycle, and most of the time i was on 4g not wifi (from 97% battery down to 33% battery). Hopefully i can pull off more than 4 hours of SOT while on wifi. My old Evo LTE could get 4 hours of SOT when on wifi and 3g and airplane.

Without a poll it is hard to judge the satisfied rate.
I'll take a stab. Reading posts for about 2 weeks, I'd say10% or so flat out hate this smartphone, returned it or will before the return period expires. 25% like it but not without some concessions, i.e., battery, display or whatever.
Pretty much I think a much larger percentage of folks keeping it rather than dumping it. I started a thread about what was your previous smartphone so if it was something rather older then the G3 is a no brainer upgrade. BUT some have rather current flagships and a very good percentage are keeping the G3 regardless.

People have been reporting that when dropping from 100% to 99% it takes longer than normal, and afterwards starts to drain fast again.. Could you confirm it please?

That probably has to do with the overcharge. When coming off from full charge, it is more like 110%, so it doesn't show that it had dropped below 100%. Same with g2.
Make sense?
There is already a thread for the same purpose http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772242 Please continue there
so maybe I'm blind, but i didn't see a battery life thread yet. post some shots with screen on time and how much time off charger!
right now mine is pretty terrible since it's less than 24 hours since I got it.. but i do hope it gets better, because it seems my g2 had better battery life right off the bat, but I'm sure this thing just has to settle in after a few charge cycles!!

For me, battery life suddenly doesn't matter as much, when it can charge so fast..
I'm in the same boat as OP. Think a few cycles will show how great this battery really is.
Same here. I'm on day 2, so I'm hoping it does improve.
battery life is pretty decent for me. Power using gets me through a day link to my moto 360 via bluetooth and on wifi about 50% of the time.
I've been listening to Poweramp since eight this morning. A little surfing, and I'm at 73%. I expect it might be a bit better once the battery has gone through a couple of charge cycles.
One thing I learned, was download booster is a huge battery hog! If you turn it on, it'll take days to charge to 100%.
I know the note is doing better than my old s3 though, because doing my same run using both my tracks and S health, rocket player, and taking panorama pics, I still used 10% less battery than my s3 did only running my tracks and rocket player.
Me trying to drain it. Amazing in my opinion

yeah, but i disabled fast charging because i thought i read somewhere that using fast charge could degrade the life of the battery over time..yea yea i know, batteries are cheap, but still. idk. plus you always have to have the samsung fast charger with you, which i obviously don't do. but "slow" charging still charges fast enough for me lol
either way the battery is pretty bad for me on day 2. i've disabled A LOT of bloat though, so who knows. wish we had root; i'd use greenify like i used to on the G2...

i had same thing and i noticed that i had several email accounts setup, but when i go to each inbox, they were empty and the device was constantly trying to sync, but nothing would push both ways, and therefore after a few hours phone got real hot. battery was draining like 10 percent every 15 mins.
after some testing, i found out that if you go into email advanced options, disable group as email conversatinos, and that fixed all my stuff, battery is great
Eh, I don't even have other emails setup besides my Gmail app...

First cycle results not too bad if you ask me. Fully charged it yesterday when I got it and took it off the charger when charging was complete been off the charger ever since... I've been trying to kill it by playing games Web browsing YouTube phone calls and it still going strong...
Almost 12 hours or moderate use and the battery usage was 90%. To me coming from the Note 2 this is not an improvement. Anyone coming from a Note3 with any other thoughts.
This is my results coming from a 100% battery charge.
idk how the hell you guys are getting like 5 hour screen on time. how quick do you drop from 100 to 99 after you unplug from charger? mines pretty quick. it's annoying. the g2 would stick on 100 percent for 20 minutes of screen on time and an hour off charger. this phone is at 90 by then. ridiculous. maybe I'm just spoiled by the g2s amazing battery life.
right now I'm at 12 percent left, with 14 hours 45 minute off charger and 3 hour 26 minutes screen on time. android system is my humber one battery user.. not even screen. the hell?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 using Tapatalk.
I say give it a few more days in order to better judge the battery. For the G3, the first few days had terrible battery life. The battery would last less than 20hrs and about 3hrs screen time. I was getting ready to dump it, but soon the battery life picked up. Now I always get over 24hrs with at least 4.5hrs screen time. Obviously two different devices from different manufacturers, but the point is to not be quick to judge it. My Note 4 will probably be arriving early next week.

yeah i hear you. if i recall, my g2 wasn't great at start either... but i cant really remember. anyway here was my final stats for today. it's on the charger now for a bit before bed.
my android system is higher than the screen on which is weird... never had that before on a phone.

I am thinking to buy moto G4 plus...
But what I am concerned about is the heating issue.
I had read some review where some says that during gaming it heats up.
I would like the users to please clarify this.
I just like the device too much.
If there is heating issue then its unusual or what.
When it heats and after how much of gaming does it starts heating and up to what temperature.
Someone who will answer these questions for me would be great.
I own G3 from moto and loved it and looking for an upgrade.
It's been a day since I have the device. Played some games and it's pretty much okay! I came from Moto X Play, and I'm gonna say it's way better than that. MXP heated like hell, reached 45-47 at times during some sessions of calls. And in gaming it went 51.
I played Real Racing 3 for an hour and so, and it was pretty okay to me. Warm, yes. Hot, no! The device definitely felt warm, but it was kinda okay to me! I don't game on my phone usually. But yes gaming drained my battery way way faster than I expected it.
If you are looking for an upgrade, I'd say go for it. It is way better than G3 and you will love it.
Good to read, as I plan to upgrade my G2 with the G4(plus). Heat is an issue with my G2, especialy when in the car, navigating and on the charger. Looks like it fried my gps. (The main reason to upgrade)

You need a 5-6hr SOT after having Facebook on phone? You must be kidding! 5-6hr sot is nearly impossible for a moto g. I think 4-5hrs is more adequate to predict.
Though its early for me to say about battery! I'm gonna post some screenshots by Monday of my usage cycles.

Due to G4P not having a magnetic sensor, you gonna have this issue on G4P. It is gonna use mobile data to know your orientation. I'm not gonna judge though. I don't know yet. Still have to test it. :good:

Ehm... My gps got fried (literally) by heat buildup while navigating in the car and charging at the same time. Now when it's in the car and charging, the hps drops away from time to time. As this thread was started by the OP asking about heating issues, I got curious of the G4 has the same issue as I experienced with the G2. I don't see the link with the magnetic sensor, unless that sensor is producing heat..

The absence of the sensor will trigger the modem (using data/wifi) which will eventually cause the device to heat up!

Yea! You could go for it. If you wish! Camera is a big plus. Battery too. But only if you stay on the stock rom! I was using CM13. And i went from 6-7hr sot to 4-5 hr sot with excessive heating on long browser sessions.
Laser focus, fingerprint sensor, gyroscope and 3GB of ram made me buy MG4P. All of these are missing on the MXP.

yes, thats plus for G4P and processer and ram are plus here as well.
NFC part in MXP is plus too i think so, usage would be moderate as far i think, gaming and normal usage...
Just want to mention that there are already a few threads on lenovo forum about heating issues
expect them to grow in number when the phone is released in the states (I think india and brazil useres are realtively less post on english forums)
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G-13MP-16MP-Plus/bd-p/MotoG4thGen
every device heats if you put up it in extensive use without heat dissipation.
well about g4 plus all i can say is that it is a cool device in every terms except battery should be 3300 Mah but i am still getting about 8 hr of sot in 1 recharge cycle.(if you play games then it will last about 4 hrs of sot) & turbo charger supplied with it is also very good, it charges first 80 % in 60 (phone temp would be around 43 -44 degree while turbo charging then it drops to below 40 degree or depending on ambient temperature )minutes then remaining 20 % is charged with normal way in 40 min or so.
here are some game play screenshots for your convenience to check temperature:-
(all games were in highest settings)
1. game= rayark implosion
ambient temp = 36 degree
maximum phone temperature during game play = 39 degree
game 2 :- real racing 3
max temp :- 38
game 3:- marvels champion
max temp:- 38 degree
i didn't find any over heating
but if you play intensive games where ambient temp is 45 degree it is bound to get hot.
tip:- while playing game or charging via turbo charger remove protective back case(if you have one.)
turbo charging takes exactly 100 min to full charge
0 to 80% in 60 min my phone temp was 42-44 degree.
80 to 100 % in last 40 min temp drops below 38 degree automatically.
hope this helps
I can't find nothing about the battery life
Also very nice to know, how fast is the charging time?
Quoting Blurayagent over at the ZTE community:
"I read quick charge is good for 0-60% charge in 30 min. Greater than 60% is charged in normal mode. "

Don't look good :/
Have mine plugged into quick charge 3 24 watt power brick. It goes fast from 1-60%. Still testing though

Why not?
5h 45min screen on is pretty good considering it's a 2K display pushing many more pixels that the OP3.
1h 29m charge time isn't bad either considering the 4 phone that charged a bit faster all have smaller batteries to work with.
It better than most and more than acceptable to me.
I'm not fond of L BS and his videos. I wouldn't rely soley on those.

lol, the way he says it annoyes me too.
But for a while there he wss the only place for any info on this device and to see some comparative photo and video, so I watched.
Looking forward to what pocketnow had to say, especially regarding the audio quality of the Axon 7.

me too. Though I've stated cussing at the display every time he says, "so, without further ado lets get starrrrrted".
Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!...
The Quick Charge 3.0 speed is insane. 20% to 86% in less than an hour.
Yah the charge time is crazy fast, but daily battery life doesn't seem too good so far, I get constant battery drain
My battery life today was about 6:30 screen on with heavy usage, about 12 hours usage (from about 6:45 am-6 pm with a 1 hour phone call on speaker phone) very satisfied with battery life and charge time. Coming from moto x pure.
No issues at all with stock firmware other than no wifi calling and no unlocked bootloader.
Phone is much faster than moto x pure and much battery battery life.

That's promising. I'm planning to go with either the Axon 7 or the new Nexus Marlin to upgrade from my Moto X Pure. Battery life on the Pure is my biggest complaint. I can barely get 4 hours SOT. Most days are closer to 3. The Pure seems pretty quick to me though. I rarely have dropped frames so anything faster will be a bonus.
I really wish ZTE would confirm the status of the bootloader. I'm holding out in hopes they make an announcement soon. I'm also concerned I'll be annoyed with the Axon's MiFavor 4.0 ROM. I love how stock the Pure's OS is.
I'm on Verizon so the OP3 is a no-go for me. Although it sounds like Axon 7 owners on Verizon are having issues of their own. Hopefully the issues are just because the CDMA networks haven't approved the Axon 7 yet.
I'm getting constant battery drain on my new phone in UK.
It lost 21% of power doing nothing last night. I also had enabled power save settings.

My SOT is getting better. Achieving 6 Hours easily.
6h in 20h for 1440p screen is good but pls post some screenshots
Yeah, I noticed the battery life improved as the days wore on... Might be like when you install a new rom, you need to give it a week to settle before battery life stabilizes....
How the heck is everyone measuring SOT?? I don't see it in the stock battery stats. I'd like to avoid 3rd party apps to measure this. Am I missing something?
