Is there any way *quickly* toggle between lockscreen security modes without going into settings and re-do it there?
When I'm home, I only want "swipe" security for my lockscreen.
But when I go out, I want to use PIN for my lockscreen.
It would be great if I just toggle a "quick settings" button to select between the two modes.
But, the PIN code would need to STICK. Right now, I have to re-create it every time I switch between the two security options.
Any ideas?
A dashclock extension for this would be cool also.
There isn't something like that, but there IS a widget that is a quick shortcut to your lock screen settings. You'll still have to enter pins and stuff, but you'll save the effort of navigating there. It's the "settings" shortcut which should already come with the phone

Hi, sometimes I accidentally enter a mode where my phone is locked, and my notifications are visible on the edge of the screen, I'm also able to see the current news on the edge when I swipe. I have seen this 3 times but I have no idea how to access this feature.
Does anyone know how to enable/disable and what it is?
Settings > Edge Screen > Edge feeds, tap on it and u see 4 default feeds and an option to download more.
It activates when screen is off and you swipe the left side of the screen.
It is called edge feed. You enable it by swiping up and down the edge of your screen. You can disable it in the Edge Screen Settings in Settings.
Ahh, thanks guys! Didn't know about that.
Hello,
As you may know, Android 6 has a hidden feature, called System UI Tuner. This can be enabled by long-pressing the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the notifications bar. Once enabled, a new section appears in Settings, called "System UI Tuner". I think Developer mode must be enabled too for this to work, and animations must be on.
But on the S7 Edge, this doesn't seem to work. Tried to long-press that icon, and nothing. Animations are on, developer mode is enabled.
Did anyone succeed in enabling this ?
Thanks !

Not sure why you want that, since touchwiz ui already supports everything from there.. Imo

Really ? How can I remove icons from the status bar, like the Bluetooth icon even when it is enabled, for example, and have more room for notification icons ?

System UI Tuner isn't available on Touchwiz. Samsung removed it. However, I'm guessing most of you upgraded to Android Nougat, but for those of you who haven't should get this app called Good Lock.
Good Lock is an app made by Samsung that actually replaces the System UI on your phone, and will make it almost stock Android. I sure you still won't find System UI Tuner by holding the Settings button, but I sure that there is a setting in the Good Lock Settings menu to do so. My thought is that the Good Lock Settings Menu is their version of System UI Tuner.
You can find Good Lock in the Galaxy Store, but if it is not there for whatever reason, then just sideload it from this link here.
(apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/good-lock/good-lock-24-0-16-release/good-lock-24-0-16-android-apk-download)
--enter the link without the brackets, xda won't allow me to post links until I have made 10 posts--
I'm not sure if this will work in Nougat, as in the website it said that the minimum version of Android is Marshmallow, and the maximum version of Android is Marshmallow.
If you are willing to take the risk, try it and let us know if it will work.
Hope I helped!
It is pretty much impossible
You can't enable it Samsung and other companies have disabled it in manufacturing
How to enable system UI tuner in Samsung j5 prime
Go here and try it. I did get it working on my s7 edge non rooted but I recently had to do a factory reset and I can't get it to work. https://www.recovery-android.com/tips/access-system-ui-tuner-s7.html
i think this would be a better decision as it wouldnt require a computer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
simply enable with adb once and you can tweak your phone anywhere without having to use a computer
I updated to nougat today. Icons seems a little larger for my taste. I used to use condensed mode on MM. Any way I can make icons smaller?
The display scaling should be under display settings
I had same problem after updating to Nougat.
Fixed as follows:
Settings > Display > Easy Mode
Enable Standard Mode
Click "Done"
I'm just wondering can we get edge notification s8 style on s7edge? Tnx in advance
Not to be a D, but wouldn't this question be better posted on the S7 / S7 Edge forum?
I was wondering the same.
Edge Notifications Not on VZW Variant?
Is this feature not on the VZW variant? When I first set up my S8+ it was there then completely disappeared. The button is not in the notification shade. I have reordered the buttons and the grid and cannot find it. Also it is not in the settings and or developer options. (I know it wouldn't be in developer options but checked anyway). I run Nova Launcher but I have switched back to stock launcher and still nothing. Went as far as factory reset and still nothing. Any thoughts?
Ask on the s7 thread....

The edge notifications (pill-shaped) are found in Settings -> Edge Screen -> Edge Lighting.
You can choose when they appear (Screen on, off, or both) and select all or specific apps to use the Edge notifications.
