HI guys,
I just wanna know, how can i connect my device to tv?
Is there wired connection? what about wireless connection?
What are the things i need?
For example, my tv is Samsung LED Series 5?
What are the things i can do after connecting:
- can i access my device as a storage device?
- can i play a movie to my device and have it displayed in my tv?
Thanks in advance
With the app Mediahouse (pro) you can stream movies from your tablet to you tv (netwerk).
you can choose to stream content to your tablet of from your tablet to your tv (if i'm correct)
New or old n7? This is easily found anywhere online. Old n7 can't mirror it's screen to the TV except with a mod for miracast (this mod is new). This mod doesn't work on 4.3 yet and requires supported hardware on the TV too.
What does work is dnla or upnp, which sends local media to the TV - movies, music, photos that are stored locally not streamed. Many apps support this and lots of hardware does too.
New n7, you can use slim port cable to mirror the screen

I have the old one, there is no something like adapter, converter, cable that can connect the device to the tv? i cant seem to find any on mr. google, and yeah i saw that the new nexus 7 is capable of that, thanks
Chromecast may solve your problem if you can get your hands on one.

Hello all, maybe you can share some suggestions to a challenging situation I'm facing:
I want to use my Nexus 4 with an external display, a Bluetooth keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse so I can work on documents on Google Drive. However, I do not have access to a good up-to-date display in the location I want to achieve this set up.
Currently, I have an older display that only has an older VGA input. I've seen some negative reviews for a slimport-to-vga device available on Amazon, so I'm on the ropes about ordering one.
Alternatively, I may be able to get a monitor with a HDMI imput. Would a slimport connection on that be recommended? Or, should I get creative and try to connect to a Chromecast-to-HDMI, if such a thing is even available.
Also, I'd like to find a reliable keyboard and mouse for this set up, or would any Bluetooth devices do the trick?
Last, are there any limitations to how many devices can run to the Nexus 4 simultaniously? Ideally, I'd be using a T-mobile 4G data connection with a wireless mouse and keyboard while outputting via the slimport.
Thanks for any thoughts you might like to share.
- J
Via USB you can connect only one device. Display and 4G Stick is not possible.

Moto X works great with the bluetooth controls in my car. With the combination of touchless controls and Motorola assist, I can listen to music, send texts, make phone calls, get weather reports, get sports scores, etc without taking the phone out of my pocket.
The only issue is the screen is a bit small for navigation.
If I wanted a bigger screen I would rather put a Nexus 7 or Ipad Mini in the dash. I wish automakers would just do that instead and just configure the software to better suit driving conditions.
True but the problem is I don't always ride around with bluetooth media turned on. I like to listen to radio talk shows, so if I have the radio on, I won't get anything through bluetooth streaming(music, google now, etc). My calls come through of course, nothing audio because the car is on radio mode. So yes, it's useful if you're always on media/bluetooth streaming mode, but if not than not so much.
In dash system is more elegant than having a moto x mounted on your windshield. Pressing a button while driving is easier than saying okay Google now, especially while listening to audio. 7" display is better than 4.7. Don't get me wrong, I use the moto x in exactly the fashion I've described above but a cleaner solution is always welcomed.

I'm just waiting for the new screen casting for Chromecast to start working with the Moto X.
Once that happens my chromecast is going into my car and being patched into my factory nav screen.
Boom! Google NAV, Pandora, Netflix, Plex, Google Play Music, etc... It's gonna be nice!

Are you going to put a router in your car to? How are you going to cast it? I thought the screen casting works over the wifi network.

Yeah, I think the ideal solution is to have a dumb screen that just mirrors your phone. It's cheap and effective. Too bad they will never do it because they don't want you watching Netflix while driving.

Turn on wifi hotspot on my phone and let the chromecast connect to it. I can't remember if I was able to control the chromecast like that or not. I tested a few scenarios. Worst case I just use another device to control it while my phone is being the router/internet access.

That seems more trouble than just connecting your phone to the Android auto head unit. Less functionality than mirroring but easier. Might as well just plug in a miracast adapter into your system.

Well I have the chromecast already and don't have a miracast dongle, so the Chromecast is actually the easier and cheaper solution.
Plus I like the additional functionality beyond screen casting. Like what if I wanted to get Netflix going on the screen but still have my phone available...

Hmm chrome cast in a car... This does seem interesting. Basically it sounds like android auto, but without the screen being disabled during connection.
I think I got a new project idea to play with now. Lol

It's still a lot of work. YOu have to get into the car, enable your hotspot so chromecast can work, put that phone aside and use a 2nd phone or tablet to cast to the chromecast?
I have more faith in the devs just figuring out how to mirror your screen to android auto while connected to your phone. .
Wouldn't hosting a hotspot on his (primary) device create a LAN that his phone and chrome cast could communicate through? Thus not needing a router or secondary phone, as well as still having mobile data connectivity...
Will a chrome cast detect an android device like this?

The device hosting the hotspot wouldn't be able to cast to the chromecast you would need an additional device connected to the hotspot to be able to cast.

oh one new feature hitting the chromecast is for devices NOT on the same wireless network to send stuff to be casted to it. All you need to know is a PIN code from the Chromecast.
This will let it work in the car perfectly. It can connect to the hotspot on the phone and my phone can still send it commands over the internet and not a local network.
Though that may work, it's just such a... redundant workaround... Lol
In theory, they should have a common subnet across the wlan adapters. I see no reason they can't talk across that, other than software imposed restrictions.

I've thought about getting the Rii i8+ Wireless 2.4G Mini Keyboard to use with the Nexus Player, my Raspberry Pi, and other android devices. Does anyone know if it works with the Nexus Player? I know that it's Bluetooth, and I suspect that the keyboard works fine, but I wonder if the trackpad works at all. I've tried pairing my old Sony NSZ-GS8 Google TV remote and the trackpad doesn't work at all nor do some of the more convenient buttons on the non-keyboard side.

I have the same question - its amazing to me that this device doesn't natively support all Android compatible devices.... Seems like that should be rather straightforward. There should be some sort of simple certification process for accessories to be Android 5.0 compatible....
If someone could check and let us know if it works I'd appreciate it.:good:
Yes. I have one and it works perfectly. It is not BT it uses a receiver dongle which you must plug in via USB OTG.
Work fine with M8S android tv box

Touch pad & keyboard works flawlessly. It uses a small dongle (like some wireless mouse), not bluetooth. One annoying thing about it is, turns off/go to standby mode after within a minute of inactivity. It is a nuisance for me, but it does save a loot of battery life. And battery life is really really good for this remote. After purchasing, I charged it only once in 4 months (I don't use is everyday though). Backlight is really good & useful too!
I would use is it as default remote for my Nexus Player, but that auto sleep mode is irritating to me. When it is in sleep mode, it takes about 3-4 seconds to get ready for action. Otherwise, its a very good remote.
I'm computer stupid but I bought this keyboard and can't for the life of me figure out how to use it with my nexus player. Can you explain it for dummies??
All you need to do is buy a USB-OTG micro USB adapter, then plug in the receiver you got into the Nexus Player with it, it is plug and play. Just switch it on.
I've just bought the Bluetooth version and the trackpad is appalling, not even useable. Do you think I would be better off with Wi-Fi version or something different? Very disappointed after the good reviews!

I was just about to buy one of these (to use with my Nexus 6).
What's the problem with the trackpad? And did you find a better keyboard to replace it with?
I bought it to use with the Nexus player I have just bought. The track pad hardly responded and was basically not useable. From looking at other peoples reviews on Amazon, this seems to be the way it is. To me it should not be sold if it doesn't work. I bought a otg cable and paired the Nexus player with the Logitech k400 plus wireless keyboard. This is so much better and the track pad works perfectly.

So I was thinking I would like to use a nexus Player or raspberry pi in my car as my current cars music player is crap (I cant stream music through my Bluetooth)..So a couple questions for you smart guys. One my car uses rca for the aux screen input, if i use a HDTV Mini Composite 1080P HDMI to RCA Audio Video AV CVBS Adapter Converter would this play nice with the nexus screen size?
Also I have a nexus 5x can I use my phone as a hotspot tether for the player?
Thanks for the input guys

The NP will be able to run fine while tethered... I've used my G4 to give my NP internet access and watched 1080p movies just fine. The NP is just like any other android device in regards to connecting to an available WiFi network(in this case provided by your hotspot)
As for using a NP in a car setup rather than a Pi? I'm not sure you are going to enjoy either to be honest. I've tried some creative car audio/visual installs but learned it is not ideal(or safe) to rely on a remote for control. Touch/voice controlled configuration is best for day to day use.
As for will down-converting your digital video output to use with rca cables work?
Probably.... But the NP is still going to think its outputting digital, and you will surely experience some issues. The NP already has some over-scanning issues on older hdtv's. Not to mention the androidTV launcher isn't designed for a car sized display......
Just my 2 cents I guess. Try it and please report your experience with it:thumbup:
Thanks Bud...Not worried about safety I dont even look at my phone when I drive. Its more to have a decent media player for music and have google maps on display when I need it. My display is a 7" no touch....If I did a root and did something like a cm mod could I fix re-sizing issues with the display?
Thanks again
Just trying to find out options for my car with the crap oem nissan media
They are starting to make stereo's that will mirrorcast your phone... but that doesn't seem as fun lol. I'm not opposed to the NP as a car computer idea. You might want a small bluetooth keyboard with trackpad to use in conjunction as the remote.. or maybe not.
