I have a MK809iv (RK3188) TV stick, it got bricked. I searched the internet and tried many methods to recover it, but failed, please help if you know a better solution.
I used RKBatchTool to restore it, and got a blue square, but after I click "restore" button, it failed at "download boot fail"
Code:
22:30:27 985 **********Restore Start Total<1>**********
22:30:27 985 <Layer 2-1> Download Boot Start
22:30:33 106 <LAYER 2-1> ERROR:Boot_VendorRequest-->DeviceIoControl failed,Total(12290),Sended(4096),bRet(1),err(0)
22:30:33 106 <LAYER 2-1> ERROR:DownloadBoot-->Boot_VendorRequest471 failed,index(0)
22:30:33 110 <Layer 2-1> Download Boot Fail
22:30:33 112 **********Restore Done Success<0> Fail<1> Time<5125>ms**********
I also tried RK Android Tool, my stick is loaded as "Found one MASKROM Device". I played around the tool, but every time it failed at the same reason "Download Boot Fail".
I have no ideas, anyone please help!

[SOLVED] how to rescue? "boot verified failed" "recovery verified failed"
Edit: Solved - searched through bazillions of threads -- just about all of them referenced Timmy Dean threads

Attempts to run PBJ20upgrade.exe after getting into APX mode were failing me with invalid CPUID.
Of course when you can't boot, or get to recovery, there's basically NO WAY to get your CPUID. The number provided by using usbdview is NOT the CPUID; it's the serial number aka the same serial number on the sdcard cover.
Thankfully, some months ago I saved the CPUID / UID in a notepad doc on another machine. Grabbed that number, popped it in when PBJ20upgrade.exe prompted and the device is now recovered.
Will look into ICS upgrades again after the teeth heal up... need rest now.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Context: had my wisdom teeth pulled so I'm a bit medicated; not sure what I did in trying to do an ICS upgrade, but I seem to have hosed my tablet for sure. Didn't realize a tablet counts as heavy machinery. ;-)
Power on shows "boot verified failed" in red; attempting to boot recovery with the vol- shows "recovery verified failed" in red.
-I cannot boot straight nor can I get into recovery.
+The tablet supposedly IS able to get into APX mode, though.
+I have my UID and SBK saved on my desktop in a text file for use as needed.
I have tried using BlackThund3r's APX Flash tool with the EUUs_SBK_Acer_A500_1.016.05_COM_GEN1.a500apx package to no avail (the flash tool recognizes the tablet as an APX device once in APX mode, but each of the writes seems to fail).
What else can I try?
The few search results for anyone that has experienced both errors were for people that were within warranty that sent it back to Acer... well, I'm out of warranty.
so did any of our info in your other thread help?

Hi
I have a badly bricked A500 I am trying to get up and running again. I have an 11 digit CPUID but not a 16 digit one. I did have it in a text file on my SD card however it seems to have been scrambled
Using the Power/Volume + combo, It will not load any update.zip proceeds and then hangs at "Booting recovery kernel image" the White on Black Acer logo is displayed.
Using Power/Volume - combo has no effect - Just freezes with white on black Acer logo
I can go into ATX mode via the Power/Reset combo and the Acer USB drivers are installed on my Windows 7 machine and when connect windows says an ATX device is connected.
But here's where my troubles start...
I have tried APX flash but it fails without giving a specific reason
I have tried using A500 manager but it fails to change modes or retrieve anything
I have tried HC_RollbackRom_3.2.1_Gen2_tdV4 but it fails
I have tried Nvflash but I recieve the following error msg on any command - "rcm Version OX4", "Command send failed (USB write failed)"
It would seem that even though connected by USB in ATX mode, my computer is unable to talk to the Pad - does anybody have any ideas what steps I can take to get out of this mess.
Any and all help appreciated

11 digit CPUIDs aren't truly CPUIDs - they are android device IDs which do not apply here. Take a look at the SKB recovery thread to recover the CPUID from APX Mode. You can then convert CPUID => SBK using http://a500bootloaderflash.tk/sbkcalc/
Hi BlackThund3r
I did a search for an SBK recovery thread as you suggested and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751978 (Had been doing a lot of searching for CPUID but never thought to look for SBK
Anyway that thread describes exactly my situation, It would seem it's my bad for being a windows user ha ha but I have used Ubuntu before.
I don't have time to get Ubuntu and try the steps suggested until later tonight but as the thread describes exactly my problem I am confidant it will work so thank you very much in advance.
I will reply back here with the result - Again thank you for your time and quick response.

Hello everyone! This is my first post on this site. Im so sorry for my poorly english, but i'm enough desperate to write here. I got this phone in bad condition. I will not explain what exactly happened, but it was started from the fact, that system wasn't work good. Keyboard has been permanently removed, a lot of system applications/functions (e.g Sms or notifications bar) didn't work. Some processes e.g "com.android.whatever" had a 0,00 bytes. Immediately point out, that was a brand soft from Plus ( one of hugest operators from my country).
Factory reset didn't resolve the problem. Owner was tried to install new system by KDZ Updater and solutions like a "unbrick-guide-lg-leon-lte-metropcs-lgms345-kdz-firmware" (this is a full link but i can't add him to this post) or something like this. Just he had MetroPCS ROM. Then he wanted back to old, Brand ROM, and tried with similar guides, also by KDZ files and applications. Each attenpt was ended in the bootloop, since the Download Mode was got error like this:
[470] fastboot_init()
[480] Loading keystore failed status 5 [580] USB init ept Q 0x8f1df000
[600] udc_start()
[710] -- reset --
[720] --portchange --
[810] -- reset --
[810] -- portchange --
Now, smartphone is in my hands. The same problem was appeared when i was plug phone to my PC. Device manager showed:
Other devices - Android (yellow exclamation mark)
However, I discovered something strange. Download mode which showed this error is launches by holding Volume DOWN and plug to PC. When I press Volume UP and plug to PC appears... Update Firmware Mode. But PC still don't recognize this mode.
I was dicovered, that "USER" (in this field down in this Firmware Update mode) changing number. Sometimes it is "USER B100 or USER B96, USER B98...)
And that in Devices Manager:
Mobile Devices LGE Andoid MTP Device (yellow exclamation mark)
I tried with many variants of LG drivers, from many sites and none of them don't solve the problem
I haven't idea what I can do in current situation. I can't install KDZ ROM to the phone, because both of Download Mode can't connect with the PC. For the same reason I can't fix the "udc start" error. Phone has a bootloop. Recovery mode by LG can only performing a factory reset. Is it possible to fix this problem?
I think I was tried everything. I was used every one hint from the Internet, and I'm at a standstill. It remains only to give the phone for authorized LG service?
Hello All,
I need some help to restore my Xiaomi A1 which is now hard bricked for one months.
The phone was functioning perfectly well with Android 7.1 Stock Roms when I left it.
Next time I try to use it, the phone was off and would not boot, no reaction to any buttons.
Only LED blinking when plugged on a charger so I guess it entered into EDL mode.
When connecting to a PC, the phone is recognised as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
I tried many potential solutions:
- opened the phone, unplug the battery for few minutes: no improvement.
Tried flashing with MiFlash: got the following error.

Then I tried flashing with QFIL: I think I managed to go further in the process but I ended up with the following error:
"ERROR: GenerateSparseXMLTags:2872 1. Too many XML files in XMLStringTable, max is 77690240"
I googled this error message but found nothing.
Have you ever heard about such QFIL error?!?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Hey!
My tips for you are:
1. Install the latest Qualcomm Drivers(you can find tutorials on the internet):https://gsmusbdrivers.com/download/qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-driver-64-bit-windows/
2. Download the latest ROM,why do you want to install Android 7.1?Install the Android 9.Here's the latest Android 9 Official ROM I found:https://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.0.23....0.PDHMIXM_20200707.0000.00_9.0_b49c1d0e32.tgz
3. In MiFlash, after you selected the folder with the images, hold the power button for 10 seconds, release it,and press Flash
It should help you unbrick your device.Wish you success!
