Flash TWRP with Odin.
As soon as it's flashed, pull out your battery, then put your battery back in.
Hold home and volume up and power to boot into twrp.
This Has to be immediately after you flash TWRP.

Reflash your stock rom, make sure the version of TWRP you are using is compatible with your phone then repeat my instructions.
It's the correct way to install twrp so either your using the wrong version for your phone or there's an issue with Odin.

I have the solution!! Turn off Auto-Reboot in Odin [I think in Options tab or just locate the option]
Flash the TWRP
Once its done, the download mode will still stay on the screen [Only make sure its done by checking on ODIN]
Power Button + Vol. Up + Home button for atleast 10-15 seconds
YOU GOT IT!!

Definitely the safer way!
You could also just pull and reinsert the battery before the phone is able to boot.

Unrooted my phone - flashed stock recovery - went into settings to install the ota - Stops after about 20 seconds, reboots. Popup says installation unsuccessful. . . . ?! Any ideas.
EDIT - Just tried to reboot into recovery, and got 'no command' and lying down android with red exclamation mark. I presume recovery did not flash correctly like it said it did?

I had this exact problem with mine too..
Bootloader Unlocked, No Root, No TWRP
I have tried with stock recovery after some seconds it reboots itself and says upgrade unsuccessful.
Please somebody help. Do I have to relock the bootloader? or should I need to do any specific?
no command' and lying down android with red exclamation mark then press volume up continuously and just press and release power button , you will enter stock recovery then flash update.zip, i successfully flashed by this method.

How did you do it exactly can you please explain?
Where should I put the zip file in the phone to select in recovery? I don't have an External Micro SD Card.
I have tried exactly what you said.
Boot into recovery shows No command with exclamation mark and pressed volume up continuously and just pressed and released power button. Nothing happened.
Am I missing anything? Please help me.

After enter recovery with green Android lying down with red exclamatory mark ( this is like opening page as in twrp ) you have to do
Press Volume UP for 5 sec while pressing Volume UP press Power button and release immediately , you'll enter stock recovery with options .
(don't release Volume UP before pressing Power)

But how to flash my ol kernel?
i can boot only on download mod.
odin always say: FAIL(DEVICEinfo)
Does odin fail when you start the process or after flashing ?
Try to find your stock kernel on internet

It always fails before flashing process.
It seems to start the flashing method but after 4-5 second it says fail.
i didnt find any stock kernel to my nougat galaxy s7 edge.
i hope that i didnt destroy my phone totally.
You can't boot to twrp right ?
Because your kernel is on the "boot.img", you have to flash it.

I had the exact same problem and was having the same error even trying to flash stock form Odin.
Solution:
Restart Odin
Boot into TWRP
Boot back to Download mode but from TWRP not from the button combo
Flash stock ROM (available from Sammobile) through Odin
That worked and I didn't lose anything but of course it will overwrite TWRP.

Ah yes ok I misread. I want to say it would work even if you went directly to download mode, but if it doesn't, I would try flashing TWRP again after killing all involved processes.
Solution here
https://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38591
Code:
2) Boot into download mode by pressing ( power + volume down + Bixby button) and stop at the screen of continue and reboot.
Press volume down to restart phone
Quickly boot back into download mode by pressing (power + volume down + Bixby button)
Press continue
Congratulations fully working now
3) Install firmware with Odin
4) Wait for the firmware to be installed
5)Ready)))

Hi bro. İ have same problem 8 months ago and i know this fix.
First. Sorry for my bad english.
You must wait the battery fully discharge. Because you cant make anything now.
When fully discharged phone. You plug charge and press wolume down+power+home. You can go to download mode this way. You must flash the original firmware via odin.
And if you want flash twrp again this step is required.
Go Settings page in odin and untick the auto reboot.
And manually go to recovery mode by download menu after install.

you have to wait until your battery dead.
then connect to pc and turn on the phone and hold (Power + Home + vol Dwn )
flash TWRP 3.2.1 c9ltechn (only this version)
reboot
if not worked flash nougat 7.1 rom

Ok, do the 3button combination as if you are booting into download mode. As soon as screen goes black, keep power and home key pressed down but move to volume up. You have to be quick before it boots to download. This will get you to recovery.

Make sure you have OEM unlock in developer options if so and still the same flash a different twrp recovery version.
On odin you need to turn off auto reboot

And when you finish flashing twrp you need to remove battery and boot to twrp, then you can boot to it normally

[Help!] LG V20 H91810p [T-Mobile] Bricked???

Okay, so time for the ultimate idiocy.
I think I may have perma-bricked my brand new phone.
Yes, I had backups, but in a state of panic I wiped those on accident like the biggest dumbass alive.
My steps were as follows.
1. unlocked the bootloader
2. downgraded to 10p
3. installed twrp first into download and then into recovery
4. rooted via flashing supersu first
5. remembered this phone had nfc and decided android pay was rad and I didnt want it blocked
6. looked into magisk
7. unrooted supersu (full unroot including stock boot img), rooted magisk
8. everything was absolutely fine until an application (official twrp app thing) requested root access
9. phone crashed completely, stuck on LG splash screen
at this point I could still access twrp via download mode, but not recovery (the button combo didnt work.)
10. wiped dalvik and cache, nothing
11. full wipe, nothing
12. tried installing a couple different ROMs, still stuck on LG splash
I think here's where I ****ed up the worst. in my attempt to get back to stock I reflashed the laf thing so I could flash a kdz via LGUP.
Uppercut no longer found my device, though, so that eliminated that as an option. Biggest problem is download mode was my ONLY way into TWRP. So now I can't access recovery, download mode doesn't work, and I can't boot so I can get into adb.
Oh and not even the charging screen comes up, by the way.
Is it even possible to save this damned paperweight now?? :crying::crying::crying:

Edit: Did not work. I feel as though download mode might be broken? And LGUP doesn't recognize my device either.

Didn't work, ended up timing out. However, I did find a small ray of hope. After erasing via factory reset, I discovered that LGUP no longer said there was no handset connected. It did give me the following errors, though.
1. When using a modded version of LGUP: Could not load the model
2. When using uppercut: DLL for H91810p is invalid
3. When using regular LGUP: No handset.
BUT. I managed to get into it anyways by removing the modded version and then trying Uppercut... and now I'm gonna flash that ****in' kdz… fingers crossed..
