Google Maps - My Location - Working for Himalaya users?

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone here with a Himalaya had managed to get the My Location feature (beta) on Google Maps to work.
For those who haven't seen it, it is a poor man's GPS. It finds your location basically by calculating the distance to the nearest cell towers. It isn't greatly accurate (usually about a 10 block radius) but it would be yet another cool feature that would keep our Himalayas alive
So, anyone tested, had any luck?
I have had no luck with mine (Sydney, Australia).
When you go to the help/about page, it says "Myl: N/A". Apparently it means I am not receiving cell broadcasts, though I have Channel 050 switched on.

Google Maps Won't Locate Without Enabling GPS/Wifi?? Anyone Else?

It appears the A-GPS function has stopped working on my 32gb S4, perhaps a google maps update recently? When I click the little cross hairs that are supposed to zoom in and center on your location, it doesn't do anything with the map and just asks that I enable wifi/gps. I have network assisted (cell tower triangulation) location checked on, but still nothing. Does anyone else have this problem as well? Was the feature shut down? I never leave my GPS unless I want close accurate location data, I have always just used the A-GPS for general stuff. Really not liking the new google maps at all

Just uninstall the update. I thought the new update sucked so I uninstalled it and I am now using the older version again.
Go into settings, accounts, Google and hit location and enable it..
If that doesn't work make sure you reboot. It should work after that

I am having the exact same problem. I have everything enabled, and Maps will not detect my location without GPS turned on. My last 4 phones did not have this problem.
Settings I have examined:
Preferred network mode: CDMA/LTE/EVDO
Google Location settings access on.
Location Settings: Access on, VZW location services on, Wi-Fi & mobile network location on.
I have rebooted the phone many times and haven't had any success. The last thing I can think to try is turning off the "VZW location services" and just let Google handle everything, but my previous 2 Android phones (HTC Incredible & Incredible 2) functioned normally with this feature activated.

Update:
Deactivating "VZW location services" seems to have solved the issue. It must have been a Verizon-specific interference with the new Maps. I'm not sure what location services Verizon provides.
Now when I open Maps without GPS, I see a grey dot where my last known location was, and then within 10 seconds I get the blue dot with the larger blue circle showing the area in which I'm narrowed down. This is what I've wanted!
Of note: I'm also in a basement with 1 bar of 1X service, so it's not about the signal. I wouldn't be surprised that Verizon would inadvertently interfere with the proper functioning of a Google app.

[Q] Z1c on KitKat: location cannot be found?

Hi all!
On JellyBean I had the location settings on Wifi+GSM networks, since GPS takes battery power and I don;t need a very accurate location. On KitKat, Google can't find my location anymore, so it seems. On Wifi/GSM Google Maps prompts "waiting for location", on GPS/Wifi/GSM is finds my location eventually but only by GPS location. No GPS reception, no location update.
Is there something broken here?
I'm running a stock EU Z1 compact, no root, no custom ROM or anything.
Same problem here. I no longer have any GPS settings on my phone. There is not even an option under Quick Settings to add a GPS toggle. The Sonly widget has a GPS toggle but it does nothing. Navigation software can not find the GPS either. I have no GPS.
The Google Location started working again a few days ago, without any action from my side.... Maybe some error in the Google service?

Mine got going again after a factory reset and some software loaded on.
Do you have a distinct GPS quick toggle? I don't.
You can go to the Settings, Location menu and switch between 3 options: GPS+Wifi+Mobile networks, Wifi+Mobile networks and GPS only.

GPS - Location Problem

Hello Guys,
I would like your help with an issue that i have with my LG G2!
I have updated to version 4.4.2 android version without problems (no root phone).
The problem that i face has to do with GPS. Generally, i have location settings off in order not to consume battery etc.
When i want to use my Navigation Software i enable location services but the phone need restart in order to work!
Even if i have enable the location the phone don't recognize the GPS as turned on and need to be restarted. The it works normally.
Can anyone help me how i can solve this problem?
Have i to put always on location services? In the past i didn't have this problem. Is this a hardware problem?
Thanks a lot,

Real gps location interfering with mock locations app

I am using a rooted nexus 6p, I also have a nexus 6 with the same issue, and I'm trying to fake gps locations for a game that requires walking. For some reason the fake location and the real location keep switching back and forth. I've tried turning off all the settings for gps with no luck.
This thread was opened http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/help/mock-locations-fake-gps-t3408407 and closed with the issue being resolved to using a specific app. This does not help me in debugging my app if I can't use apps that mimic walking.
It does not seem right that a specific phone can't hide real gps data. I don't even have a sim card in my nexus 6 and it's still finding my location. This seems like a phone bug that has yet to be reported.
In developer options there's an option called "Select mock location app". Did you tried it?
I have this same exact problem on a Nexus 6P. I've tried multitudes of mock GPS apps. I've selected the mock location app as well as used rooted mockers that don't even require a mock location selection. I've tried all GPS settings (GPS + WiFi, WiFi, GPS only) and they all flicker back and forth. I've seen other people have this issue too. I can even see it happening in Google Maps. XPrivacy is able to feed fake location data to a chosen app and that works great but it isn't convenient as you have to type in the coords. The real GPS really shouldn't interfere with the mock GPS (especially if the setting is on) but for whatever reason the Nexus 6P GPS gives no ****s about where you want to be, its in charge and you're gonna sit right where you are god dammit. Right now my best option is to use tin foil to render the real GPS useless unless I want to physically remove the thing but seriously what gives? I even just wiped my phone and flashed the latest PureNexus and still have the issue.
Same problem
I have the same thing going on with my Nexus 6p. After like 2 seconds it just flickers back and forth.. do have exposed framework to mock mock location.
It looks like com.google.android.gms from "Google Play Services" is being used to get the real GPS locations? How do we stop this?
Quit trying to cheat on Pokémon Go! Lol

Your opinion and assumptions really aren't necessary. The issue here is why the physical GPS interferes with the mock GPS on this device.
I have the same issue. Tried many apps, none worked. I'm on stock MTC19X. (also it seems when I have more than 1 fake location app installed, switching between them is funky. Sometimes they don't stick in the Dev option.)
*** I may have found a solution posted on stackoverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...ymore?newreg=4100ab40b3704404852e05938ec2ca05). It seems to be working w/o flicker. Tested on Pokémon Go since vwood2121 mentioned it
Also you'll need to reverse it to get the gps working again.
"I managed to fix this problem by disabling the "Fused Location" service on my phone. I used the Disable Service application which requires root privileges to run. After disabling the "Fused Location" service I stopped teleporting to my real location."
Confirmed
