WiFi acting up on my ALE-L21 - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason the wifi on my phone is acting strangely, it just started doing so a few days ago but before that it was all fine. Basically what is happening is that my wifi will be really slow to the point of not connecting to websites (Connection timed out etc.) however the wifi starts to work if I turn it off and then back on, but then stops. I really don't want to be doing that every 5 seconds. It used to be fine and then suddenly it started being weird. So basically my phone is quite useless now since I use my phone for everything (I log into my google account with my phone, I need to use the steam app on my phone and other important stuff). The wifi on all my other devices is fine like usual. Bluetooth also says that the bluetooth address is unavailable but I don't use bluetooth so it doesn't affect me but I think it's also to do with my problem.
Currently using Sokkoban's Deodexed ROM.
What I've tried doing:
Removed PurePerformancesX.
Cleared Cache.
Reflashed the ROM.
Flashed to the Official Lollipop update.
Flashed to the Official Marshmallow update.
Rebooted my router.
Reset my router.
Anything else to do?

I've heard about this, it seems it's a common problem among P8 lite users.

It sounds like it could be a faulty wireless card in the phone or the drivers bugged out. Blimin' shame that your warranty is void cause I am pretty sure they would have to fix that for you.
I actually had a very similar thing happen to my old iPhone 4s, wireless just completely died in the end. No regrets about that though, it brought me to android.
Really though, sorry to see you are having trouble with this and I really hope someone here can help you more.

Yeah, a Google search got me quite a few problems like mine but no solutions.

I decided to remove the back cover of my phone to see what the problem could be, but then my screwdriver was too big to open any further. I still don't know where the WiFi + BT antennas are. And since TalkTalk are cool, they said that my warranty lasts as long as I carry on paying my contracts, which is good. However since I'm just out of the 28 day return window I'll need to give them a call so that Carphone Warehouse can repair it for me for free.

Sony Update Service (Stuck?)

Unfortunately, I didn't read a warning thread about *not* using the Sony Update Service until after I'd started the service for my X1a.
I've been hooked up to the USB with coloured bars for about five minutes, with no progress being noted and nothing changing on the Update Service screen.
Am I in trouble here, or does it just take a while?
12 minutes and no changes.

I guess this is the absolutely first time you connected the usbcable while the phone is in bootloader?
Did an automatic driver install occur when you connected the cable?

It's the first time I've done it with an X1, or any Sony. I've flashed many Synergy and WinMo Motorolas.

I think it must've used the drivers already installed. I heard the connection and detection routines.
7:29 PM to 8:13 PM...that's a long time.
Antivirus and firewall is turned off.

If you didn't see any change at all since you connected the phone I think it's safe to disconnect it and reboot the phone.
This has happened to me, the first time I tried the service.
But If it stopped midway in flashing It's not good..
I'm no pro but as long as the bootloader is intact you should be able to reflash the phone even if the first flash didn't go well and the phone wont boot.
Maybe someone more experienced can shed some light on this...
and while you wait you can search the ROM area for answers.
Xperia ROM Development
Re-started it and everything went well.
Visibly snappier, compared to the way it was behaving before.
Thanks for the commiseration.

No problem, I'm just glad I could show some support in this obvious dark hour...
lol, mine is stuck on the forever detecting phone as well. I might just give up, and use my home computer, which is the one I use to flash phones anyway.
my work computer is vista.
Mine is stuck 'identifying' For 15 minutes now... Someone with the same problem?
vista seems to have probs always..... xp works ok ..
I observed the same experience as well. first attempt will always appear hang at the bootloader, w/o any activities (which is a blessing in disguise, imagine stuck halfway into flashing). Disconnecting & connecting again do the trick. I'm on Vista...
I realize that SEUS is "safer" in terms of support, but why don't you just download the image file you need and flash from the memory card?

[Q] Well this is interesting...

I work for Verizon Wireless, I own the Verizon Wireless R800x CDMA version of the phone...
Someone want to figure this out? Internet works, Phone calls work, Texting works, my lock screen just looks like this

I am aware, but its just a possibility. The only other conclusions I can come up with is a technical glitch, or a co-worker prank.
even if you reboot the phone? Looks like something went haywire? Or someone who really knows their **** is playing a prank on you

No one has touched my phone except me. I went to a local fairgrounds had questionable service and it popped up. been there since i got home, restarting the phone now lets see what it says.
Gone after a reboot, just strange...
usually reboot is required when your phone loses signal then has trouble reconnecting to the network.
It has happened numerous times on other android devices I have used and usually when I leave the coverage area and either the phone or the android system has trouble refreshing the network status.
I am surprised you didn't reboot it before you posted on here

I rebooted it when I was still at the fairgrounds with the touchy signal, still had it, wanted it to stay when i got home to post the screen shot since i need to have it plugged in to get a screenshot from the phone.
and the phone still worked 100% so it didnt bother me. was just odd... makes me wonder that when the R800x is finally rooted if it will become a world phone.
The GSM and CDMA varients share a common software foundation which has historically been focused on GSM devices. It doesn't surprise me that your software glitched and displayed the screen. If you see this again, please send me a PM so I can have SE engineers take a look at it.

^This!
Also there are still a few diagnostic menus that feature the ability to turn on and off the GSM radio, which would check for the SIM slot to be populated. Now, if the GSM radio is actually still there on top of having the CDMA radio, that would be awesome, but I'm not expecting that, and believe that it is probably a software glitch arising from a similar foundation of code.

Z2 touchscreen defect

Hello,
I've just created this new thread to inform you about how my Z2 is broken after two weeks of use.
Today at noon the touchscreen started to do some unusual things, I wrote some messages and I recognized that I wrote multiple letters when touching just one, not one aside the tapped letter but at the other end of the screen.
I wondered how that happened, tried again and again, restarted the phone, nothing changed.
At home I called sony care to ask if anything like this was already known, they just advised me to "repair" the phone through pc companion.
Now I can say that nothing worked and I'm sure it's a hardware defect, by experience I would say it looks like water damage to the digitizer/touchscreen controller.
The flaps were always closed except for charging at the bedside table and I'm sure it didn't rain there.
I will keep you posted what is going to happen involving warranty and xperia care.
Greetings

I had the same problem, after two weeks too. I got a new one, but now I'm scared...
This also happened to me when I'm texting, it inputs multiple letters. I think this is a software issue as it happens after making a phone call. I changed to TouchPal keyboard and it happened less. I think the Xperia keyboard has bugs as well. But it rarely rarely happens and I can't duplicate the bug.
Don't know what causes it, seems software related to me. Turn of the screen and turn it back on worked for me. Happened just once...
Lucky for you, problem persists at the exact same spots.
Since yesterday the touchscreen went full rogue a few times, "touching itself" everywhere for a few seconds.
Trying to change it at the shop of my provider today by implied warranty.
Check your screen with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easylabs.multitouch&hl=pl
Got the phone to my provider this afternoon, the shop assistant examined the device extensively and was pleased by getting informed about the older batch numbers that have some issues (mine was a 14w17 with off center camera and flash).
He started to write down contact details and a description of the failure.
Then he got to a support guide for checking the device before accepting it for warranty, in this guide there was a step to check the wetness indicator beneath the sim card slot...
Suddenly "ohhh...", he said the indicator turned red, i looked at the spot that looked to me like the indicator and said, ok, yes, seems like you are right, ****...
He said that he is very sorry but he can not accept the device like this.
I went out, knowing that he is not to blame for this, called xperia care and was really upset, asked for the nearest xperia care partner to do a water-proof test.
The woman at the hotline asked why I would want to do the test, I answered because the touchscreen is defect and the guy at the provider store said the wetness indicator went off.
She answered that the Z2 has no such thing as a wetness indicator, at least not one that is visible from the outside, the thing you can see is the hardware reset button and the pcb.
Went into the store again, went through all the steps and got a 1:1 change of the device, the shop assistant was amazed that I get a 1:1 change, that would nearly never happen.
We agreed that it may be that Sony informed vendors of faulty batches so that they get replaced without hardware checks and his support guide was an old version of the Z or Z1 because the device is still too new.
I'm happy that I get a new device without any more hassle.

They would have changed it directly if they had a device in stock, they ordered a new device directly so that I hopefully get the new device on friday.

I have exactly the same problem with my Z1 since i upgraded to 4.4 and whats bad is that its even present in 4.3 when i downgraded. Before upgraded to 4.4 i never had such an issue, its very annoying!

Sorry for replying this late...
Got a device out of an older batch, it's a 14w15, everything is good except camera displacement.
I think the vibration in this device feels a little weirder not as good as in the last device.
I even got an unbranded decive, no magenta t at the startup and less apps to deactivate.
Keeping it and hoping that it lasts the next two years.
Thanks for your replies and support.

[Q] Fix for 'borked' R1 Port?

So I did a stupid thing and recently stuck a paperclip in the R1 port that is located under the back cover to the right of the SIM card. Well, while my reception was in fact BETTER than it was without the paperclip jammed into the slot, now i receive literally 0 signal when the paperclip is taken out. The only time I can get signal is if I put any metallic object into that port. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? I assume I messed up the internal connection between the radio and the motherboard. Would soldering the connection back together solve this? I'm really in need of some advice as Samsung wants $160 to replace my phone and Sprint probably can't fix it at their shop. I'm stuck with this phone for another 7 months. Also, another problem I've been having lately which is even more annoying is now my phone will no longer place calls if I am connected to LTE. Normally the phone will shut off data when you goto make a call, but now it will no longer do so and the call will fail with "OUT OF SERVICE AREA". Also, I can receive texts, but when I try to reply to texts, it also fails unless I get on Wifi or I bump my phone down to 2g/3g (which also sucks). Please help This is literally the best I can explain my issues. I've tried different ROMs and I've even tried re-flashing stock back onto the phone and literally nothing works. I'm currently using the Google Play Edition Port and I've had better results with this than stock thus far, but if anyone has any ideas, please share them with me. Thanks!

Seems to be common among Samsung phones.
You most likely broke the port so it always thinks it is using the external antennas. If you do a few Google searches you will discover it has happened to a few people on different Samsung model phones.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/external-antenna-socket-warning-t1273292
From what I understand, you will need to either always have the paper clip in the phone to use it or ship it off to a repair center and have them replace the r1 port with a new one.
There doesn't seem to be a easy fix unfortunately...

HELP!!!

Hi, I got my s6 edge plus from dubai. It is the 64gb variant in gold G928C model. I am using it in the UK. However, why is the temperature going upto 80 degrees CELSIUS! This was just after I turned the phone on. I was trying to get into recovery menu to see what it was like but it booted like normal and I felt that it was warm so I checked hw monitor and the temperature was so high! What is causing this? The apps I installed are;
Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, A few games which I haven't played yet, AIDA64, HW MONITOR, Skype, 4shared, Facebook pages manager, eBay, PayPal, outlook, (one drive already installed, shazam and lifesum. As I am typing this the temperature has gone down to 49 degrees celsius.

Did you have it in your pocket for a very long time in a place without too much signal? cause it might be the battery because of the phone trying so hard to find signal sometimes it can get hot

No.
Does not sound like normal behavior assuming you did not leave it in direct sunlight or in the car or any other place where the device can catch temperature from the surrounding area.
Fast charging might could also be a contributor. Anyway, if none of those apply probably a case repair or replacement.

Perhaps a local store is willing to help or at least look at the issue. I thought Samsung offers Global Warranty anyway.
If a store is not an option and you are not planning in going UAE anytime soon perhaps some friends or family are going or live there.
Worst case, did you consider sending it by mail or Fedex/DHL etc? I know not perfect but what other choice you have, right?
80 degrees. Horrible
Are you sure the app you are using is reporting the right temperature? What app is it?.. maybe I can try it on mine. You could try a different app.
I assume it is actually working with your UK carrier?
I assume you tried a hard reset and/or clearing cache in recovery?
