why am i getting around 3Mbps download and 300kbps upload with MIUI but im only getting 800kbps download max and 50kbps upload max with cm7? what could be the problem? is there some setting in cm7 that i need to mess with?
btw, this was tested using my data plan (aws)
Hi guys just post your experience with your favourite Custom ROM in XT1033 Multi Sim..
I'm really love love Paranoid Android with the Pie Control ..
Awesome ..
I didn't find it in any other ROM
In PA 4.6 beta4
I'm found system ui force close when using card stack recent.
But I didn't find it in PA 4.6 beta5
I have tried two roms gummy and PA
best one : PA
reason : stable, good response, battery, connecting to data network easily compared to stock and gummy rom
cons: comparatively less customization
gummy:
pros: has some additional features
cons: discontinued, When i used even the final version there was a rotation bug with xt1033 which was rectified by replacing some .so files from old builds, battery is not that great compared to PA
PAC-MAN ROM
pac_falcon-nightly-20141021.zip
I get navigation bar and statusbar did't show .
pac_falcon-nightly-20141020.zip
In this older build working good no issues except slim recents didnt work
I have tried almost all dual sim supported custom roms.
In all roms I got this annoying issue of not able to call from people app. On touch of a contact number in people app nothing happens.
So ended up using the same roms after converting to GPE.
I always do clean flash. I use latest philz recovery to format system, cache and data. Except usb storage, I wipe everything before flashing any rom. I even tried flashing through adb sideload after formatting everything. But I still face this issue when I flash any dual sim supported custom rom on stock 4.4.4.
If anybody has faced this issue and able to fix this, please help me.
My most favorite until now is CrDroid which provides tons of customization.

Agree with you on custom rom Cr droid. Best rom so far with best speed and no errors is Stock rom or roms that have as base stockrom.

crDroid + Xperience kernel = Speed + Power + Smoothness
I have been using N5 Experience from last one month...
Pros : lots of customization, overall its smooth
Cons : Sometimes phones hangs up randomly and reboot becomes the only option, Battery drains a bit faster than stock
There have been some few MM CM13 32 bit ROMs each with their own bugs but we need marshmallow ROMs for 32 bit based phones. You can see Cyanpop and beanstalk and etc. But have all been for 64 bit. A6000 is itself laggy . So pls try to make 32 bit based ROMs with no bugs.
Pls anyone take up the initiative of making CM 13 stable Roms or porting Roms like Cyanpop to 32 bit
XOSP NEXUS DIRTY UNICORN RR 5.71 TEMASEK ALL TESTED PERSONALLY ON A600+
All work fine. I used both Phantom R7 and God kernel R1 with these rooms.
No problems.
Nexus ROM can enable navigation bar by adding following to build prop qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Nexus is the best. I've tested most of CM 13 ROMS, so I can say that. For now it's bugless (I didn't flash any custom kernel) and it also runs smoothly. It also has around 300 MB of free RAM which is the highest value I have reached in any ROM.
Hi!
Well, its my first thread in the Redmi 2 section. I'm quite experienced with other devices (Moto G, E, Zenfone 2), but its my first Xiaomi device (well, isnt exactly 'mine'. It belongs to my girlfriend) and I have some doubts.
Firstly: The stock firmware is based in KK. Is there an official MIUI based on LP or MM? If yes, is the memory management ****ty like the Moto's? (yeah, Moto's LP and MM was terrible for 1GB RAM devices)
Secondly: For the most updated stock ROM, is there a good custom kernel? Is there need to unlock bootloader or anything else?
Thirdly: Is root easy?
And most important:
Is there advantages to use custom ROMs like CM on this device? Will I miss some features? (camera quality - like Xperia devices)
Hi! It seems to have root out of the box, there is a system app called Security, and it lets you manage root permissions. For your other questions, I don't know. One important thing with this mobile: if you are using GPS in the background (like measuring distance of a trip) there is a setting to protect the battery that cuts GPS and background data off by default after x minutes. This took me some time to figure out, and it's turned on by default on my phone, and it was quite annoying... You can find this option in the battery settings, and can add exceptions or disable it entirely, but still...

Hey @Dan_Jacques,
So I'm relatively new to it myself (only had it for about a month), but have been heavily playing with it ever since. Here's what I've learned so far:
There's no official "stable" LP or MM MIUI ROM for the Redmi 2, but you can find official "developer" ROMs here. Keep in mind you have to find out your variation and see whether yours is a "Prime/Pro" or regular Redmi 2, and choose the ROM accordingly. The Prime/Pro dev ROMs are 5.1 (LP) based. Not clear whether the Prime/Pro ROMs work on regular Redmi 2.
You can also find the latest MIUI 8 developer ROMs on this thread from Xiaomi.eu.
I got sick of MIUI after giving it a good go, and have been happily running on official CyanogenMod 13 Nightlies for a couple of weeks now. Here's the XDA thread with setup instructions, and the one for the ROM development, so you can keep tabs on it.
I have it setup with OpenGapps ARM - 6.0 - Super, customized with my own config file.
I'm still not clear [conflicting reports], but I believe 5.1 (LP) based ROMs lock your bootloader, which then has to be unlocked by Xiaomi (from this page) before you can flash a custom ROM. This has been my experience, and it's possible I'm misunderstanding something, but it was easily solved by re-flashing one of the stable 4.4 (KK) based MIUI ROMs through Fastboot (which also re-flashes the bootloader), and custom ROMs/recovery utilities flashed smoothly then.
Good luck!
Since it seems You've been Answered , I would like to add few Points , Yes Redmi 2 (prime variant) has Got LP based ROM officially , Known As MIUI 8 , which is Coming out On 16th August for Everyone [Global Stable] , whereas if you're interested you can Try Out the China Dev , and Global Dev Roms that are already available ,
Note : Redmi 2 have KitKat Based MIUI 8 , but Prime's MIUI 8 (based on LP ) can also be used ..
And We have Several Official MM as ROM , CM 13 and RR being most Notable ones ..

Thanks a lot!
After 28 days waiting for my postal service, the phone arrived yesterday. (yeah, the Brazil's postal service is a crap). My device is the 2014819 model (appears to be a 2014811 variant)
After some hours, flashed TWRP 3.0 and MIUI8 KK based custom rom with root (available here: http://forum.miuirom.com.br/index.php?threads/rom-miui-8-miui-brasil-e-miui-global-6-7-21.506/ )
The phone is snappier than Moto G 2nd Gen (MM). Much snappier! And considering the specs (similar processor, same RAM, worse filesystem - Moto uses F2FS, Xiaomi ext4), the performance difference was greater than expected. Congrats, Xiaomi.
@minusfive and @rootmaster I found intersting the different 'base' of MIUI. We has KK, LP and MM (depending the device) base for MIUI8. Obviously I had the doubt: LP MIUI8 ROM is hunger for RAM like other device ones? For who that upgraded from kitkat, are the pros greater than the cons? (again talking about Moto G: the kitkat stock ROM was blazing flash, LP and MM are slow, with a terrible RAM management). I'm intersted with the [ROM][Official MiUi8 Lollipop 5.1.1][WT86047-WT88047] THUNDER_MiUi8-6.6.30 and the Jerrica kernel before try CM. Is it a good idea?

You're right, except for the last point. The bootloader does NOT get locked on LP based MIUI ROMs. Redmi 2 bootloader is always unlocked.

Please Suggest The best Rom for Today !!
I want rom that should have 200-300mb free ram after installing more than 30-40 apps on user profile .
which gives Flexability while playing games.
1gb model Halt or hangs most of the time. when the cache size become bigger in 4 to 5 days usage. (any sol for that is appreciated, temp sol is to clear from twrp recovery. )
Follow
Use mokee7.1.2 by dev_harsh!t. Very stable rom with around 400mb ram always free. Good battery backup. Smooth like butter with no lags. No crashes even. Recommended to try it once.
try Resurrection Remix or AICP by dev_harsh....
try CM13 by ED300 + Phantom Kernel + Xposed Modules with CPU OC to 2GHz/ GPU @ 720MHz (for your insane gaming requirements to run smooth) if you plan to go with Marshmallow otherwise with Nougat go with Resurrection Remix 5.8.4 by Harsh (its got all the required fixes and is up to date and even supports OTA Update however u can only flash custom kernel on Port)
