Should i use it when capturing photos with flash on ?
apparently this is what you should do:
[good light][day photos]
NO Smart Stablisation
NO flash
AUTO mode is great
[low light][night photos]
YES Smart Stabilisation
NO/YES flash = try it with NO first if u want natural photo and see if its acceptable photo.
Otherwise it is strongly recommended to use flash at night or at low light conditions
AUTO mode is OK /or Can try adjusting iso/exposure/etc settings

Great , but when taking night photos with flash on , should image optimisation be on or off ?
What's image optimization? U mean highest pic quality?
What Samsung calls smart stabilization it's not real stabilization to begin with. In order to have real image stabilization for still pictures you need either optical stabilization in the lens or sensor which, as far as I know Note 3 doesn't have. What "smart stabilization" does is take quick burst of shots and combine them into one low noise shot, which is more like special form of HDR. In video mode they're using digital stabilization, when lets say first frame is taken from center of the sensor and the next frame from different area according to your hand shake, so both frames align properly. I would say you should experiment and see what works and what doesn't. With static picture, smart stabilization should work just fine, with any type of movement in the frame things will start getting tricky, but really experimenting is the way to go.
Dear All S5 Users,
Hope you are enjoying S5 and exploring it's everything. While doing the same, I faced some complexity especially in Selective focus option. It's a really good option to have the same in mobile camera. I tried to shot some pictures through Selective focus option. But it seems to me that it's not guaranteed that picture will be shot as expected. For instance, I shot a picture of mine friend. I noticed when there's multiple object in viewfinder, picture not captured in Selective focus mode (I also tapped to focus and also locked the focus). Picture will be captured but a message will be appear mentioning that "Picture saved but unable to apply focus contrast effect, Subject not detected.". After having lots of try I managed to shot only 3 pictures in selective focus mode.
I might be doing wrong that's why picture is not capturing in selective focus mode. If anyone knows how to successfully capture shot in selective focus, please let me know. I am really interested to know how to use it.
You need an object within 50 cm and background should be 150cm behind the object for the best results. I think the results are best when you have only 1 object close (or a cluster of objects close - but nothing fragmented all over the place).
I actually had the same problem today. But it suddenly worked when I tryed to take a photo with the phone "standing".. Then it worked!
When Take A photo By Camera Phone became off
Any Help
Try to reinstall ur ROM

Problem solved after disable Improve Image quality In L speed Mod
Thanks

Hello everyone,
is there anything known yet, if Moto G5 Plus camera has RAW shooting capability?
If not implemented in native camera app, does the phone support Googles' camera2 API, which would allow 3rd party apps to use full manual mode and shoot in RAW?
If information is not documented publically, could anyone already owning G5 Plus verify this, by installing a manual mode enabled camera app, e.g. "Manual Camera" and check if RAW mode can be turned on?
Thank you in advance!

No!
None of the camera2 API has been implemented, tested on 4GB Indian variant
Thanks for the quick check.
I had asked for RAW, as i read and heard in several reviews now, that G5 Plus camera does have some issues with overexposure and softness caused by too aggressive noise reduction maybe. This is somewhat disappointing as it seems that software processing of the pictures does not get the optimum out of sensor and lense.
An option would have been to shoot RAW and process out of the phone to get better results.
Professional mode would at least help to fix the exposure issues, but is there a way to get into the noise reduction settings?
May this advanced camera settings mentioned here be of help to that?

Came here to post the same question. The camera tends to over expose the picture a lot or the softness kills it. Anyway to enable the camera 2 api?

While I love most things about my phone, I hate the camera. It way too often wants to focus on the background of my photos instead of what I'm actually trying to take a photo of. Before I upgrade to the 7T or possibly back to a Samsung for this single issue I have... Are there any options or apps I'm missing that have the ability to manually focus the camera?
