G930A FRM Bypass (Possibly other models as well) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discussion

This method requires a way to turn your Wifi on and off. I used a Mobile Hotspot from another phone for ease of use.
Begin by setting up the phone. Connect to Wifi when asked.
Agree to the terms and conditions. When it says "Checking Connection" (A few seconds after hitting Accept), disable your WiFi from the source (The hotspot, or unplug your router). If done at the right time, it will tell you 'Could not connect'. If it says anything else, back up, reconnect to WiFi, and try again. The timing isn't difficult. Hit next. Turn your WiFi Hotspot back on (The power), and make sure your phone reconnects automatically.
It should ask for date and time. Skip ahead until you get to the Privacy Policy screen with 3 check boxes (You have to scroll down to see them all). Click on the 'Privacy Policy' link. Scroll down to the block of text. Click and hold on any word. Click Share. CLICK AND HOLD on the button that pops up. Click Force Stop. Pull down the settings menu and scroll over to 'Ultra Power Saving Mode'. Turn it on. Select your language.
Click More, Click settings. WiFi will have been switched off; switch it back on from this menu. Back out and go to Internet. Go to https:// goo . gl/vzoLBx (Won't let me post links, so remove the spaces) and download the file (Quickshortcutmaker).
Exit the Internet. Click More. Click disable Ultra Power Saving. Click 'Emergency Call'. Dial 112. Wait for it to connect. Scroll to the right and select Internet. Search for 'Samsung Galaxy Apps'. Click the first link. Scroll down slightly, in the banner it will say 'Samsung galaxy Apps' and have an icon next to it. Click the icon. This will open the App. Search for 'Maxi Explorer'. Install it. This will require registering with Samsung, create an account if you don't have one.
Once installed, click the 'Play' icon next to Maxi Explorer. Find the file you downloaded (Should either be in 'Storage/Emulated/Download' or 'sdcard/download'). The file will be 'com.sika524.android.quickshortcut'. View, Settings, Turn Unknown Sources on, click OK, Click Open.
Once Opened, search for 'Google Account Manager' Click the drop down arrow next to it. Find the FIRST 'Type Email and Password', click on it. Click 'Try'. On the upper right, hit the 3 dots and select browser. Login with YOUR gmail account. Once you're back at the menu with 'Try', restart your phone.
From here, you should be able to go through the normal process without any issues. Hope this helped, I can provide more information or screenshots later.

[Q] Never ending download

I tried to download OsmAnd open maps and somehow my Android 2.1 is stuck in some kind of endless downloading cycle. I get the message that AsmAnd and OsmAmd and 98 more......... and I see the green animated bar. When I try to cancel or stop download service, it just re-activates and adds more downloads. I cannot even download an app to back my phone up to save my paid for applications without it getting added an another download.
Please help if you can!! I have tried dissabling the download service, pulling the battery, sym, and memcard. I have even uninstalled all free apps that might be updating. I have switched between 3g and wifi and waited a day for downloads to finish, but no luck. [Q] I have a market with one app........

I only have one app in my market, it is download-able but none the less its the only thing there. any idears?
Any ideas folks?
So you started doing the Manualnooter 4.5.2 for 1.2
Just continue one with the rest of the steps. Reading further down on the Step-by-step guide you get these instructions.
Market has limited visibility - This is a known tablet issue, not just a NOOKcolor one.

STEPS:
1) Already have your Google Account entered into the table & synced.
Settings=> Accounts & sync => Add your account/Sync your account
2) Run Android Market first by using your desktop icon or the applet grid panel choosing the Market app. When run it should produce a Market with missing apps when you search as is usual.
3) Leave the Android Market program running & tap the Home button to go to the desktop.
Replaces 4-6 = Nook Color Tools => All Settings => Manage Applications
4) Tap the Menu button, then select the Settings option in the bottom bar that pops up.
5) Select the Applications option
6) Select the Manage applications option
7) Select the Running TAB to show all running applications.
8) Scroll down the list until you see Market, then select it.
9) Tap on the Clear cache option button
10) Tap on the Force stop option button. DO NOT tap on the Clear data button here under Market, it will break the process I believe!
11) Tap on the Back button to go back to the entire list of running apps.
12) Scroll the app list up until you see the Google Services Framework app & select it.
13) Tap on the Clear data button here first, then tap on the OK button to confirm the action.
13) Tap on the Force close button now.
14) Now tap on the Back button or use the Home button to go back to the main desktop screen.
15) If you have the Market app on your desktop, then tap on it to run it, or open the dockbar applet panel & run Market from there again.
16) You should get an error box that has "Attention", then states that "An error has occurred. Please try again later."
This is good & what seems should happen if all is going well.
17) Now just hold down the On\Off button & then use the shut down menus to shut down the device normally.
18) Now just turn the device back On normally, let it boot to the desktop ... when you get a working Wifi connection, try Market again ... hopefully if all went as it did for me many times, Market should work fully now & show apps that used to be missing!
Thanks, your awesome!

Change Build.prop to access market?

Hi, on a rooted Xoom I can change the build.prop file so I can acccess the USA market. In that case I would use a verizon 3G Xoom.
Can the same be done with the Tab?
Go to the market and install "market enabler" Just set it up to change your SIM id to that of a carrier in the US... I am from Australia, and this was the only way i could download Pandora.
First step is that you may need to have root for this. For you, no problem, for others reading this... just letting them know
The trick is... you need to download "marketenabler" from Android Market. Before you run it, you need to be connected to wifi. Put the tab into Airplane Mode "ON" (ie: no connections) and then start market enabler. take note of the current gsm.SIM.operatic.numeric id code. (50503 or something like that for who ever is your carrier in case you need to reset it later.) Be sure to press the "Save Current Settings" button for later...
Go to settings list and select T-Mobile or Verizon and hold your finger on the one you want to select. A popup notification will come up asking you to "fake this provider now" or on reboot. Select the NOW option. It will do a few things and when it is finished, you can go back to the "Actual" tab and see the gsm.sim ID has now changed for example to 310260 using T-Mobile settings.
Go back and turn your Wifi on and open Market again... all the goodies you cant have from the US are now available. You may have to sign back into you Google account.
When you are finished, you can either just restart the tab or do everything in reverse order. Turn Airplane Mode ON. open Market enabler, On the "Actual" tab, click on "restore settings". Go back and turn Airplance Mode off again
Done.

Edge 7 Problems

Hello,
I'm starting to hate my S7 Edge, and I'm really missing my Edge 6 Plus. Has anyone else had these problems and perhaps have any advice for resolving them? I've searched around and can't find any other reports of these problems.
First, if I'm traveling, *sometimes* I can't use the Google Navigation App if I'm in motion. For example, if I'm driving home, and I decide to get gas, if I say "OK Google, navigate to the Gas Station" It will of course find a close gas station, and allow me to choose which one. After I do so, the app will plot a course, but then will fail to acquire a satellite. The app will just sit there constantly saying "Acquiring Satellite" (or something to that effect, I can't remember the exact error) but it never does find the satellite. The only fix for this is to repeatedly turn off and on the Location services, until eventually it just works. Which is extremely infuriating not to mention dangerous while driving. I rememeber falling in love with my S6 Edge Plus because it had such an easy time navigating and this S7 Edge is so consistently terrible at locating my position.
Second, this is a problem I did not know I had until today: After mis-placing my phone, I went to the Google "Find my phone" web page on my computer, to force my cellphone to ring. I have used this service before with all my other phones and it never failed to force the device to ring. But this time, my S7 did not ring. Luckilly I was able to find my phone on my own. When I did locate it, i noticed that there was an icon in the notification tray saying "Ringing phone" and yet the phone was NOT RINGING! With the phone in hand, I tried to use the webpage to locate my phone by ringing it again. The same thing happened. It put a notification up that my phone was "ringing" in the phone's notification display, but made no actual noise.
I checked the settings - > Lock Screen and Security -> Find my Mobile, and it asks me for my Samsung Account Password.
Why my samsung account? Why not google? I don't understand.
So I signed in, and google location service is set to ON, as expected. Remote controls is also set to ON. There is a notification at the bottom that says to track and control my device, go to: findmymobile.samsung
So I go there, and I tell it to ring my phone, and what do you know? It rings my phone perfectly. Noise and everything.
How do I switch it over to google's service? I really don't like most of Samsung's software offerings, and would prefer to use native google apps out of convenience. I don't remember ever having this problem with any other galaxy device. Not even my tablet does this.
Can anyone help?
I haven't had any GPS problems with mine (U.S. Sprint version). What are your location settings? Make sure it's set to use GPS, and not just network or WiFi.
Find My Mobile and Android 's service are two different things FMM is Samsung's product. To make sure Google's is active, go to Device Administrators and make sure Android Device Manager is turned on. Then go to Apps, scroll to the bottom and tap on Google, then scroll down and tap on Security. Make sure 'Remotely locate this device' (and 'Allow remote lock and erase' if you want that) are turned on.

-Android Device Manager is turned on in the Device Administrators Section.
-I am not sure how to complete the second instructions. I do not see "Apps" as an option in the Settings panels. Can you advise where to find it?
Thank you!

Settings / Applications
Scroll to bottom, tap Google (on my Sprint S7 Edge, it's the very last item).
Scroll down until you see "Security" and tap there.
The first two toggles (on mine) are "Remotely locate this device" and "Allow remote unlock and erase."

Ah, I was able to find the settings under Google, however both are already checked. Are there any other settings I need to check?
{{Edit: I toggled the setting just to test it, and now it seems to be working. I don't know why this worked, because the setting was already properly configured. But it works now. *shrug* Thank you so very much for your help and patience!}}
Glad to help. I seen lots of things get fixed when you toggle a setting. Something in the settings file got corrupted, and toggling the settings on and off rewrote what should have already been there. At least that's my guess.

Disable S-Health Pedometer Tracking

Hey guys,
So today I tried S-Health for the first time, and I am pleased with the functionality and features of the app.
However I want to know how I can disable the constant tracking of steps.
Under Manage Items, the option is greyed out and says "Cannot remove default tracker".
I want to use the app when I want to use the app.
Up to now I had excellent battery life on my S7E, sometimes up to 3 days on a single charge, but this app and tracker seams to be munching away and if there is no way to disable the steps tracker, I am afraid I will have to find another app and permanently disable this one. Would be a shame though.
Thanks in advance. I am not going to root because of strict warranty purposes.
There are guides on the internet related to older versions of the app and earlier Samsung models. I couldn't find any solution for the latest version on our phones yet.
go into shealth app and you will see how many steps u have done today. u tap on it and u will come to a screen were it shows all the steps u have made and other stuff. u will we see a word that saids "more"at the top tap that it says pause counting steps. i already paused mine so that why it says to restart counting steps.
Thanks a lot! It worked just as you described.

I have the same problem as the original poster and I tried your solution. Unfortunately, when I get to the screen you mention, I have no "more" at the top, but just "share". Apparently there is no way to pause the pedometer. I have a Gear Fit, which I often connect to the phone (Note3 with Android 5.0), but when I tried to stop the pedometer it was not connected. If I connect it, there is no difference. I'm using Samsung Health (not S-Health, they recently changed the name during an update). Do you have any suggestions? Have you upgraded to Samsung Health, and do you still see the "more" button?
BTW, if I tap the lower left button on the phone I get a menu that says "set target" and "view your step count data"; if I choose the last one, it allows me to select data from the phone or from the gear fit, or both. However, no option to pause the pedometer.

I have the same problem here. how can we turn off the pedometer on the phone? I have s7 edge. Issue I have is the phone is recording my steps and also my gear fit 2 is aswell and then pushes the combined total to my fitnness pal and under armour record which of course gives me inaccurate results. Has anyone resolved this?

So,
I had the same issue with myfitnesspal and shealth and i think we can resolve it. So first, in shealth main menu, go on steps and choose mobile phone. Click on the 3 dots on the top right corner and choose pause counting steps.

Thanks a lot, your solution just worked perfectly. The only difference in my Note3 is that I don't have the 3 dots on the top right corner, but only "Share". However, once I select the mobile phone only, if I tap the left button on the bottom (the one next to the home button) I get to the menu where I can choose to pause counting steps. Thanks again!

The "more" to which the OP referred is the 3-dot overflow button, not the word "more."
The important step missing is that you have to choose Mobile Phone (by default is ALL STEPS when you have some gear) and only then you will see the option to pause the menu. If you have ALL STEPS you will not see it.
In the latest version of S Health, you actually have to select "Mobile Phone", not "All Steps" when you have a Gear device. Once you select Mobile Phone, then the Pause Counting Steps option appears in the menu.
