Which firewall works best with MM on G935F ? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

So with the recent privacy concerns, I've been looking at firewalls. I've got root access, and I though AFwall+ is the best.
However I felt that once in a while my messaging apps like WhatsApp and Messenger takes time to connect when AFwall+ is active.
Is there a better alternative, or am I doing something wrong with Afwall+ ?

[Q] Firewall app?

Is there a firewall app which blocks all traffic like the personal firewalls for PCs do? With it you could
- whitelist certain apps for all destinations e.g. Google Earth, GMail, browser
- whitelist certain destinations in general e.g. *.google.com
- blacklist certain apps e.g. SuperGameButWhichAlsoPhonesHome.apk
- pops up if an app tries to connect to an yet unlisted destination and blocks or allows by default
The problem with permissions is, it's all or nothing. E.g. I want allow most apps to connect to Flurry or GoogleAnalytics to help the developers improve and understand the usage or if it uploads pics to facebook, but if an SMS app reads my SMS and also has the internet permission (probably for ads and analytics), who knows they're not also transferring my SMS?
Editing the hosts file is not an option as this would only be a blacklist and also very tedious to maintain.
Of course you need root access and it also needs to be open source for it to be trusted. I'm thinking of an addonn for CyanogenMod or so.
I'm not really all too familiar with firewall stuff, but found this for you: http://www.droidsecurity.com/droidhunter/index.html
Then maybe it's overkill but that one combined with this: http://www.carrotapp.com/2010/04/10/app-protector/
Might do the trick?
Thanks for your efford but I am looking for something completely different. A firewall is an app which controls internet traffic.
DroidWall would be perfect, but it doesn't function.

It works fine for me on a g1!
DroidWall does not prevent Wifi connections at all.
As such, as a firewall it's next to useless.
It's more a "3G data connection" limiter than a real firewall.

I don't understand your problem with DroidWall. I don't even have a data plan, so I only use it for Wifi. Sometimes I forget I have it installed, open a program that needs internet access, only to find that it won't work until I allow it to have the access through DroidWall. Works everytime.

Wifi Adblocker not working.

I can't get it to work no matter how many times I hit Overwrite/Repair network.
The 0.10.1_beta update was supposed to fix Lollipop issues, but it still fails.
https://app.usb0.net/wifiadblock.en.html
Wifi Adblocker doesn't require root and works way better (rooted 1st-gen FireTV on 4.2.2 JellyBean) than even the other ad blockers that need root.
It even works on the Sony NSZ-GS7 GoogleTV,the first device I had it on.
AdblockPlus is abyssmally slow without root when on the proxy server and causes frequent SSL errors.
Damn you Lollipop troubles! :crying:
Is there any other ad blocker that doesn't require root and also doesn't immensely bog down internet performance?
Mainly one that uses a DNS server to block the ads would be the most useful.
Edit: Found a workaround by changing my DNS manually to the one I have on my FireTV.
So if anyone has a device that can successfully use this ad blocker, you can get the dns1 and dns2 numbers by using 7zipper 2.0 to view the information.

How Can I Block Internet Access (rooted)?

I have a rooted Note 3, TMobile, n900t. Any ideas on how I could block access to the Internet, as well as access to Google Play, but have my downloaded apps, such as gmail, still function? I've recently joined a Sexaholic Anonymous due to my porn addiction and need some safeguards in place in order to continue using this phone. I realize when there's a will, there's a way, I just want that way to be as near impossible to access. Possibly even something that would block access via password someone else enters.
Thank you for your help.
Hey , Use Android Firewall+ from Playstore :good:
As far as internet access blocking goes , AFwall+ will get stuff done for you.
For additional app security and locking with password / pin , try AppLock
* Both apps free from playstore

App Data-blocking not work

Hello,
Phone: Moto G4 (athene) with LineageOS 14.1 + Root
I would like certain apps not to be able to contact the Internet.
For this I disabled in the app settings data and WLAN accesses,
But these apps still have access to the Internet. As the following screenshots show.
This problem also existed in earlier builds.
A root firewall like AFWall+ can also pass data.
If I'm not mistaken, this blocking does not work reliably on 2G and 3G, although I can't be certain.

LG V20 HotSpot "No Internet, Secured"

I'm unable to use Wi-Fi Hotspot (tethering) from smartphone after update Adguard to beta 2.12.140 on LG V20. I can enable/disable the Hotspot, but I can't connect to it (no traffic).
Downgrading to any other versions doesn't solve the problem. And it looks like even the uninstallation does not work, clearing data/cache the same.
I made an Android update with no result.
APN settings it works normally, I guess, since the internet is accessible on the smartphone (but not on tethering)?
Are there some adb commands that can be used to fix the problem? I assumed there are some remnants settings related to the beta version which creates problems and changes settings on the OS?
Thanks!
Try looking in adguard's settings for things about blocking local traffic.. I haven't used it myself, but I use another VPN app that has an option like that that breaks tethering/hotspot when enabled.
In Adguard, there is an option to choose which Apps to use the VPN as "Apps Management". But I do not know which App is responsible for tethering on the V20, to disable it from Adguard,
