I'm unable to use Wi-Fi Hotspot (tethering) from smartphone after update Adguard to beta 2.12.140 on LG V20. I can enable/disable the Hotspot, but I can't connect to it (no traffic).
Downgrading to any other versions doesn't solve the problem. And it looks like even the uninstallation does not work, clearing data/cache the same.
I made an Android update with no result.
APN settings it works normally, I guess, since the internet is accessible on the smartphone (but not on tethering)?
Are there some adb commands that can be used to fix the problem? I assumed there are some remnants settings related to the beta version which creates problems and changes settings on the OS?
Thanks!
Try looking in adguard's settings for things about blocking local traffic.. I haven't used it myself, but I use another VPN app that has an option like that that breaks tethering/hotspot when enabled.
In Adguard, there is an option to choose which Apps to use the VPN as "Apps Management". But I do not know which App is responsible for tethering on the V20, to disable it from Adguard,

Is there any app that can control which apps are allowed to use 3g/edge to connect to the Internet and which are only allowed to do that when wifi is available?
Yes me too want to know how to restrict data download.
Thank you.
IMO, an app that manages all permissions would be even better. I haven't heard of any such apps but hopefully someone can come up with something.
can I somehow restrict all data transfers? I have no data tarif from my mobile operator and allmost everywhere I am i have free wifi connection (so I want use wifi).
Thank you
"Tasker" may be able to help, it can control your settings based on all kinds of scenarios. I have my mobile data disabled and use Tasker to enable it when certain apps start (internet, email, etc), it will disable it automatically when you close that app (needs apndroid installed). I do the same with GPS.
Tasker gives you loads of options and control, you can create custom widgets and automatic profile switching.

droidwall may be of interest to you guys, it blocks all apps to connect to 3g/edge unless you specify the app in the droidwall whitelist
note: Droidwall does require root
Would appreciate to know where to get the "Tasker" you mentioned.
Thank you.
I can find Tasker in the market, but I first found it on androlib. I use it to disable ´mobile data' during the night.
I have recently purchased an LG Vortex that comes with the Android 2.2 operating system installed. I have looked into rooting my phone with z4root and have successfully temporarily rooted my phone. I would rather keep my phone unrooted, but if it is absolutely necessary I will root it permanently with z4root.
My question is this: How can I connect to my company wifi and use apps that require wifi?
I can successfully connect to my corporate wifi through the 802.1x EAP protocol. The problem comes when trying to access any of the apps that require internet (I am forcing Verizon's data plan not to be used--using wifi only due to 150MB limit on my data to save $$ per month). None of my apps seem to work--internet browser, Market, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc...
On my company pc I know that within internet explorer the box is checked that says "Use automatic configuration script" and gives an "Address" that is in the format of "..../proxy.pac" It looks like my work uses a proxy for things to connect to the internet. I have no such place to put this information in my LG Vortex. I downloaded an app that seemed promising called "Proxy Settings" which will allow me to enter in the following Hostname and Port. When I tried to enter the "..../proxy.pac" as the hostname it gave me an error stating "The hostname you typed is not valid."
Is there an app or something that will allow me to use my apps when connecting to my corporate wifi? Is it a proxy setting thing or a VPN thing? I am not sure. I am open to any and every idea so that I can use my phone's online features while connected to my company's wifi.
FYI - I have friends that have iPod touches and they are able to connect to the internet with some apps internet browsing and downloading apps, but they have a similar issue of not being able to use all of their apps as well. I believe they were able to put the "..../proxy.pac" address in their devices somewhere.
Thanks!
abarkena, check out Autoproxy on the market. You can add a new proxy, put in the address to the proxy.pac file, and it will connect to the correct proxy every time. It works for market, maps, gmail, the works.
That's also good if you're on a network where they keep changing the proxy (like the place I work).
I can use internet on desktop but not in Metro apps so I got the solution in the form of fiddler. What's the issue actually that I have to use fiddler to bypass my traffic ? Is there any permanent solution except it ? Which update caused the issue ??
Sounds like your Internet connection requires a proxy. Most (though by no means all) desktop apps will automatically use proxy settings, but Metro apps don't. The steps needed to make Metro apps go through Fiddler *should* also work for making it go through whatever proxy your Internet connection is using, assuming that's actually the problem.
If that's not the problem, then I have no idea what's going on. What version of Windows are you running? Are you on a local network or directly connected to the Internet? How long ago did this problem start, and did you do anything to/with your Internet connection around that time?
I use latest Windows 8.1 update 2. It was started way back in June-July after I installed some Windows Updates. I couldn't open any site through my browsers, I noticed that some proxy settings were already put automatically after installing updates. I haven't touched anything. I removed those settings and made it back to normal and I could access internet but boom...not a single metro app worked, this happened to my colleague's lappy, too. Right now without adding proxy, desktop apps work very fine, I mean even if I select option of no proxy but no metro app can access internet.
Should I try to uninstall those updates ??
Followed the configure settings and after clicking Modify Network config I see my wifi said and another Security. The options are to cancel, save or connect. After clicking connect . It still tells me that it is waiting for traffic on port 2020.
install firefox and adblock plus plugin. the firewall version does not work as well as the browser one.
Hello,
Phone: Moto G4 (athene) with LineageOS 14.1 + Root
I would like certain apps not to be able to contact the Internet.
For this I disabled in the app settings data and WLAN accesses,
But these apps still have access to the Internet. As the following screenshots show.
This problem also existed in earlier builds.
A root firewall like AFWall+ can also pass data.
If I'm not mistaken, this blocking does not work reliably on 2G and 3G, although I can't be certain.
