Hey Guys,
Just Wanted to share the way to upgrade you p605 to the newest stock rom [EPD4] - Notice the Builddate and Changelist:
** It all worked for me, but i'm not responsible if something goes wrong. That said, it's hard to brick this tab if you follow the instructions properly)**

Build date Wed, 20 Apr 2016 07:04:54 +0000
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/72903/P605XXU1EPD4_P605VNZ1EPD1_VNZ/
(VS the known P605XXU1EOI5:
Changelist 5849447
Build date Sat, 19 Sep 2015 05:23:27 +0000
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/71521/P605XXU1EOI5_P605TMNEOJ1_TMN/)
Steps:
1) Back-up to Micro-SD card (TWRP Image + Titanium) + InternalSD Files that you might need.
2) Download EPD4 Full Firmware using SamFirm Tool - Instructions in attached thread (say thanks over there!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
3) Make sure USB-Debugging enabled and that you have proper drivers
(**Optional - WIPE System, Internal-SD & Cache in TWRP before Flashing Firmware**)
4) Enter Download Mode (Power Key + Volume Down).
Flash tar.md5 file (ONE FILE!) with ODIN. (AP Slot, I used Odin3_v3.11.1) - Wait for it to go green and say "PASS")
5) Restart. Skip all initial Settings. Enable USB Debugging again.
6) Start Download Mode Again.
Flash Permissive Kernel using Odin (AP Slot):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...kernel-stock-selinux-permissive-cifs-t3376723 - (say thanks in the thread!)
Wait for it to go green and say "PASS".
Yes, The Kernel is compatible although it says p607t. it's practically the same device
7) Restart Download Mode
Flash TWRP 3.0.2 using Odin (AP Slot)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515656 - (say thanks in the thread!)
Wait for it to go green and say "PASS".
*Do Not* say yes when TWRP asks to root your tab.
8) Reboot system.
Download Super-su Stable: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
Download Touchwiz Debloater *FOR LOLLIPOP*: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...pt-touchwiz-bloating-script-222-apps-t3258537
Reboot to TWRP (Power Key + Volume UP) and flash them, Super-SU First.
(say thanks in the threads!)
*8.5) it seems Touchwiz Debloater removes 'VpnDialogs.apk', which prevents us from using VPN if we need it.
to fix this you have 3 options:
a) Edit the Script (Preferable)
b) Backup the file before flashing the Debloater
c) Flash This: https://1drv.ms/u/s!At7tfaiEcBMP0jPgJpMNu8Lb1JQZ
9) Reboot System. Everything's OK?
Download and Flash Latest Xposed for Samsung by Wanam, Using TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960.
Latest one Compatible with our tab is: xposed-v85.1-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20160530
(**Download to SD-Card Xposed Uninstaller as well. Just in Case**)
10) Optional:
Customize the Interface using - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...heme-customize-galaxy-note-10-1-2014-t2885360
(DID NOT TEST)
11) PROFIT!
All took around ~25 Minutes.
Any suggestions for sound mods?
Cheers!
Thanks for excellent guide.
Thank you. Worked perfectly.:good:
Are you sure the kernel you suggest is compatible with P605? Tithe says "for P607". I didn't ask on that thread because someone already asked without receiving answer. Can you confirm its compatibility with P605?

I guess maybe some LTE bands are different as the p607 is an American variant, but otherwise it's exactly the same. works for me.

is there any difference between this rom and the P605XXU1EOI5?
have you tried the modified kernel for p605 or just the p607 to get root?
does CF- AutoRoot work with P605XXU1EOI5?
Thanks

This rom is newer than OI5, but I cannot be more specific because I can't read changelog. But the build date is 5 months newer, so I suppose there are some updates.
@itsita told me that the kernel he mentioned works for P605 but I haven't formatted my tablet yet. But, if you mean the modified OI5 kernel for P605 yes, it can be rooted.
Yes, CF-AutoRoot works for OI5.
After flashing the kernel linked in OP my tablet cannot remember wifi passwords. I followed this few passages mentioned in OP here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/development/kernel-stock-selinux-permissive-kernel-t3232814 but still no luck. Sorry if I ask here, but that kernel thread seems no more active. Did it happen to you too? How did you solve it?

Look in build.prop (use kernel adiutor) for this line: ro.securestorage.support=true and make from true to false,
Then save.
After reboot you need to put once more your password and then it is good....

Stuck In bootloop
I tried this and when I got to the install SuperSU part, my tablet got stuck in a bootloop. It has been booting over and over for the past hour or so. What do I do?
Does anyone know how to remove Vodafone start screen from booting ?
The OS read just 1.35GB from my external sdcard, and failed to move or copy or read anything from it.

It took a bit because I can't get the Buildprop app access to Root via Superuser pro and had to use FX TextEdit and then it needed me to use FX to remount the folder as R/W. It is working now.
Thanks again!

Due to loads of questions how to upgrade to the latest firmware and keep root and place recovery
First step
Find your 10.3.A.0.423 ROM and download it
Belgium
France
Germany
Greece
Greece unbranded
Hongkong
Spain
Taiwan
Ukraine
Use this tutorial to flash the ROM into your Phone.
Be sure you download these versions below and nothing else to get a quick rooted and recovered Phone
[XZDualRecovery][v2.5 RELEASE]
[Z][ROOT] DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (v15) {perf_event exploit}[20130624]
If you have flashed your Phone with the latest ROM, and you lost Root on the Phone, first use the toolkit from Doomlord This will install SuperSU on your Phone.
Just let the program do its job.
If you wanna add recovery mode on your Phone, use [XZDualRecovery][v2.5 RELEASE] cwm 6.0.3.2 & twrp 2.5.0.0 [locked bootloader] from [NUT]
In his map you see two files : Superuser and SuperSU, use the SuperSU to let the tool create the recovery on your cellphone.
I want to thank both develepors for making these tools and making rooting and recovery so easy
For me this method doesn't work, I'm on the Generic NL but when I install recovery it only works at first boot (It goes to CWM). Then I reboot the phone to system (as pointed out in the installation instructions).
But from here it seems recovery is disabled...I can push volume up or down but it won't go into any recovery anymore.... Only way to get it working again is by installing it over and over...but I never get a second boot in recovery. Any ideas?

Make sure that you're installing the 2.5 beta version.
If you already did, there was a problem that has recently been fixed by [NUT], so download the fixed version and try again.

My favorite method is to flash custom recovery via ODIN, and then flash the latest Supersu.zip from recovery (you can restore stock recovery via MobilOdin later)
This works fine with N7100xxufng4.

Uncheck auto reboot in odin while flashing custom recovery so once its done flashing, unplug the phone battery to turn off the phone, plug it back in after a minute and manually enter recovery mode by pressing volume up plus home plus power key and flash supersu zip via the recovery and then reboot your phone.Let it finish booting.Open supersu it'd ask you if you want to disable knox allow it and you are set.

Strange: After checking my stock rom it turned out to be from Philipines, but downloaded provided zip .....
Required:
- Flashtool in the latest version from: http://flashtool.net
- DualRecovery by NUT as installer.zip: http://nut.xperia-files.com (Download the correct one for your device and at least version 2.8.7+!)
- Root on 23.0.F.1.74 (Download) for example with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/giefroot-rooting-tool-cve-2014-4322-t3011598
Featurelist:
- SuperSU integrated
- DualRecovery by NUT integrated (2.8.7)
Can be used on locked and unlocked bootloader.
Firmware File:
- D6633_23.1.1.E.0.1_Customized-MEA.flashable.zip
The Flashable.zip i've created with the mighty tool PRFCreator by zxz0O0.
Installation/Update (short) guide:
0. Downgrade to the firmware 23.0.F.1.74 and root it (with giefroot)
0.1. Install the LockedDualRecovery by NUT with the installer.zip (install.bat)
1. Put the downloaded update file (ROM.zip) on your device. I recommend you to put it directly on the device.
2. Boot into the recovery (While rebooting -> when the info LED flashs -> press shortly the VOL button for the Recovery you prefer)
(On Recovery you may create a twrp/cwm backup of your device if you get any issues on updating process!)
3. Flash the ROM update file (.zip) with "install zip".
4. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (perhaps under advanced).
5. Reboot to system.
You may have to wait some minutes on the first boot because of initializing system for first time (optimizing apps etc.).
Special Thanks to:
[NUT] (DualRecovery and his efforts!)
zxz0O0 (giefroot rooting tool, PRFCreator and his efforts!)

Thank you @waleedsq81 for providing this firmware!
But please advice me.... I'm already on rooted 23.0.F.1.74 with LOCKED bootloader :good: and I want to flash the 5.0.2 lollipop firmware you're providing or a supposedly 'prerooted' russian customized version I downloaded yesterday, but my question is that if I had to upgrade to .96 kitkat firmware prior to flash this one or can I flash it directly from the .74 one?? ............ and secondly: do you know if by installing your firmware (or the russian one) will the flashing operation open or unlock the bootleader inadvertently?? (I don't want to, of course).
Thank you in advance, cheers :fingers-crossed:

Booting into recovery using NDR Utils is fine though.

Thank you very much @waleedsq81 you're the man!.... and I can safely confirm to all: if anyone is already on rooted kitkat .74 firmware, you can simply and straight go ahead and flash via recovery this pre-rooted MEA firmware... root is maintained as well as the bootloader locked in this latest lollipop build, just follow to the letter the given instructions.

2. I cannot find a good way to root after upgard it to lollipop. :crying: :crying:

well...
1. I will, even it makes me so sad because it was the major function of the pen.
2. previously I followed the instructions in this video youtube.com/watch?v=hUghV16l9d8
Make sure you have done a clean installation of the ROM. By clean installation I mean make a full wipe, from TWRP (a custom recovery), go to Advanced Wipe and select everything except your external SD, in case you have one installed. Then flash the latest Lollipop ROM via Odin. The latest stable LP ROM I found to be OF3, so get that from sammobile.com.
And root can't be more easy. When you are done flashing the stock ROM via Odin just place this zip on your phone, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip, reboot to recovery, which will be TWRP (and after flashing the stock ROM you will have to reflash TWRP, cause flashing stock ROM always installs the stock recovery), and just install the zip from there, done.

If you want, you can PM me and I can walk you through on how to flash, say, 14 hours from now. But good luck

Thanks this is what did it for me.
Can anybody else actually confirm that they can connect AND actually navigate on the Internet. I can connect, but you aren't going anywhere and the browser just bombs out.

FYI people, you don't have to root to enjoy this hotspot mod but you do have to flash twrp recovery. The previous method with dialer code doesn't work anymore with the new MM software. But if you just want a quick and simple solution to achieve permanent unlocked native hotspot then visit my thread in the link above. Make sure you also download the correct version of TWRP and odin flash it first.

Well, this is a Note 4 thread but that's ok lol. Instead of providing you with links I am going to show you how to find this stuff correctly so that you will be able to do it next time. Teaching you how to fish, Im not being difficult lol
*Note: If you don't have the abd or Samsung drivers you will have to download those using an adb tool from xda and kies from Samsung.
From your computer:
1. Google "TWRP.ME". In the upper right hand corner click on devices and select yours. Download the latest and greatest IMG file.
2. Google "Odin xda" and download the latest and greatest of that.
3. Unzip the file. Find and right click Odin and run as administrator. Click the AP slot and load up the TWRP file that was in the zip.
4. Turn your phone off and restart it holding *Volume down +home button+power button* This will take you to "download mode". Plug it in and press volume up.
5. Press start. AS SOON AS IT FINISHES AND TRIES TO REBOOT PULL YOUR BATTERY AND LEAVE IT OUT FOR 30 SECONDS.
6. Restart by pressing *volume up+home+power* this should take you to the TWRP recovery. Perform a backup to external.
Now to root...
1. Google "Chainfire Autoroot". Go to his site and find your model number and download the zip file.
2. Unzip the file. Find and right click Odin and run as administrator. Click the AP slot and load up the CFAutoroot file that was in the zip. (this will take a minute so...)
3. Turn your phone off and restart it holding *Volume down +home button+power button* This will take you to "download mode". Plug it in and press volume up.
4. Wait for the please wait text to go away and click start.
Those steps will root your phone.
Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

I apologize if this comes off as ignorant, so to get this native hotspot feature on MM....don't you need to be rooted first before flashing the rom from tx_dbs_tx?

Didn't you say you are using a Note 5? This is the Note 4 forum and tx_dbs_tx makes ROMs for the Note 4 which should NOT be flashed on a Note 5. He did make a port of the Note 5 but this should still only be flashed on a Note 4 and NOT a Note 5
Thank you for the clarification.

I tried this by just installing twrp via odin, and then flashing the PD1 hotspot mod. This did not change the APN type settings to append to .dun.
Do I have to install your ROM first, and somehow select "no root" for this to work? I was hoping to not have to root my note 4, but will if that is the only way to regain the hotspot.
Thanks for any help, or clarification on the best way to do this.

I believe after you flash the mod with TWRP, then all you have to do is turn on hotspot and enjoy. No need to mess with APN settings
