Audio Mods? - ONE General

Well I posted this in the Q&A section but no one replied . Hopefully, i get some replies here!
Has anyone tried the audio mods in the general android section? Specifically ARISE sound systems? (or any of the other ones?) I am kinda scared in installing one and it not working and then I would have to debug it. I kinda don't have the time for that. Does anyone successfully gotten them to work? I am currently on Sultan's latest CM rom

I am using arise a month and the sound is stellar.Im on Temasek 9.5 not CAF.I dont think it makes a difference but you should ask at the thread.

XTREMEMusic works really well if you're a bass head like me. Though not as bass heavy as Viper4Android by itself, it definitely adds a major boost to the bass and quality of audio.

Speaker volume too low

I'm praying for someone who can solve my problem.
I LOVE my n1 but I dont hear it when Im outside home.
I surfed tens of forums searching for the solution and there is no dsp manager or lvh that has been able to solve the problem.
can someone help please?
p.s. i heard that maybe cyanogenmodded rom on gingerbr could solve the problem but i heard also that it uses dsp manager which wasnt working on my n1
Are you using a custom rom?
Most custom roms have an audio boost over stock. And maybe that DSP Manager would only work if the ROM supported it, so that could be why nothing has worked sof ar if you are on stock.
I think you're looking for the vibrate option
the audio boost is present in most custom ROMs such as cyanogen. so you really should have no problem if you use that. i know my volume has increased very well using cyanogen so i dont have any complaints anymore.
i do remember in cyan 5.0.8 that the audio hack was TOO loud and people complained, so the dev's reduced it to somewhere in the middle. perhaps you can go try that old ROM and see if that helps just as a test. if so maybe you could edit your kernel to match that old hack? might be a lot of work though...
i'm using one of the gingerbr roms from this forum
so you'r suggesting me to wait for the cyano's gingerbr?
p.s. today i bought an ideos for my old father ((( its LOUDER AND LOUDER than my n1 (((((
Unfortunately, you will have to live with crappy HTC speakers I am afraid. Rom's don't have a significant difference - I mean it will still sound crap :/, I don't know why HTC keep doing this.

dont say me so! please! i heard about people who solved and had to REDUCE volumes beacause the loudnes made the speaker clip instead!

Try enomthers Official ROM with the AudioMod kernel. I now run my incall volume at 50% where on the stock ROM I had it maxed all the time. The speaker phone is actually useful now as well. Besides this excellent perk its also a very fast and stable ROM with lots of features that I've found I can't do without. I ran a Gingerbread ROM for a week and was so happy when I switched back.

do you know if it's possible to flash only the audio hack? i'm just running stock cyanogen 6.1.1 and i would like to play around with the audio hack. can i flash it somehow, or does it have to be built into the ROM? and also, i have a build environment set up, so could i just play around with the kernel code for the hack, and compile my own kernel for testing it out?
Can anyone suggest any 'good' solution? kernel or otherwise to fix this $#@$# 'bug' of low in-call volume in Nexus One??
Would really appreciate all the help!

xloud on any rom my A$$!

i hate when people ether lie or dont know what there talking about! for example..."people" say that sony's XLoud and be installed on ANY ROM! well from what i have learned and know about the android os as well as sony, this is Not true! the part that really gets me mad is that i have been looking for a way to fix the low volume Bug in ALL CM based roms for the xperia play. i cant stand having low volume, to me if a rom has low volume i dont want it! this is why i only use and create rom that are stock based because according to my research sony's xloud can can only work on a stock based rom with the correct information and certifications as a xperia device. installing any of those xloud zips will corrupt your rom and you have to reinstall it. figured this out the hard way MANY times! stay clear of them. i would really love to fix this issue for cm based roms but all of my attempts have failed, perhaps a much more skilled coder can fix this.
I Installed an xLoud mod (because i can) on my phone and it booted fine, but i can't tell if it worked because i have never used xloud and don't use my phone for music.

I used DSPmanager to boost my volume instead of xLOUD. I enabled bass boost and Acoustic equalizer and it works pretty well!

yea but i dont like dsp manager, it makes my speakers sound like there going to pop.+ the sound cracks and fades off to much
then you didn't configure it well...
Yeah, kernel and ROM needs to support cloud for it to work. But I should clarify some things for you.
xLoud only affects loudspeaker, not headphones.
CM has poor earphone gain because of DSP Manager, and not using legacy audio with prebuilt Sony drivers. You are right too, using DSP to amplify causes bad distortion. Its because FreeXperia use generic msm drivers and not Sony ones. Poor earphone volume always bothered me.
XLoud in Turbo UI sometimes drops out.
All these issues will eventually be fixed in my 4.1.2 source builds, because I am porting legacy audio in with the goal to make sound 100% identical to stock.

Which is silly really, I know for a fact that the kernel has to expose an xLoud audio device for it to do anything (so it doesn't work on non-Sony devices).

Best Audio Configuration : ROM+Kernel

Hi guys
Thinking about giving the Note 2 a chance since it has Wolfson.
Sound means a lot for me, i still have my old Nexus S with Voodoo Sound just because i love the sound out of it.
I would like to know which is for you guys the best combination for audio purposes, meaning ROM and Kernel, also which player u use and how happy u are with the sound, how u describe it, which are the strongest points, what are u missing...just your general opinion about it.
Depends what you like. personally I'm on Perseus kernel, which lets you change gain of volume and freqs but it doesn't color the sound, beats, xperia etc mod are not for me. ROM wise, It doesn't matter.

I have and old Nexus S, with CM11 and DSP Manager, i have direct access to the DAC, which is what Boeffla Sound does for the Note 2 as far as i know.
That would do it for me, pure Wolfson experience, then find the best audio settings and ready to go.
Custom rom, agni kernel (with boeffla sound) + viper sound mod + neutron player
for me the best combination ever
Yeah. You are right.

I Personally would use Jet Audio as has alot of Audio tweaks which are awesome, I have used Different kernels and they do a great job especially with Eargasm turned on, as for VIPER or similar they are great but i found that they muffle the sound and reduce volume so i actually prefer it without and use Jet audio to edit my audio as for ROM well it depends on what you like and what Android version you want maybe try Sungsonic or Sensonic I personally use JellyKat with JetAudio and sounds great for me
I had the original Galaxy S, and also used the voodoo tweaks. The Note II sounds broadly very similar to my ears, it really is very good. No chance of driving my HD650s without an amp or anything, but the quality is great.
I'm still on an old ROM - Omega v18 with Perseus kernel. Easy to tweak the volume levels and access the HW equaliser for adding a notch of bass for the stock earbuds.
I need some help guys.
Hey guys so i am kinda newbie in this things, but i installed a lot of roms till now. By just folowing carefully step by step everything. Never messed up,ocasionally got some phones into a boot loop but managed to revive them. Also bricked a Nexus 4 but revived that as well. Anyway. My question for you guys is....how do i know if my Note 2 (n7100) Has the boeffla or as a matter afact ANY Sound mods installed on it ? All i know is i have this:
Android 4.4.2
Baseband N7100XXUFND3
Kernel version

And it wasnt rooted. But somehow it had TWRP installed on it. So i went for it and rooted straight away and first i tried installing Viper4Android 4 but it kept giving me error on installing via TWRP so i installed the old one (2.3 i guess) Witch sucks actually cus the sound is very ... distorted and un-natural. I cant seem to find any setting that would sound good and i wanna get the most out of my Note 2 on sound as i am a huge basshead. I`m frustrated cus i bought a pair of Monster DNA In ear,Skullcandy Ink`D,Skullcandy Smokin`buds Skullcandy 50/50 and Skullcandy Holua Wood. And none of them sound that good. (I thought with some good earbuds problem will be solved but NOPE).
So please .... Please guys have some heart and help me out...
I have pretty much tried DSP Manager, Viper Mod, Beats Audio Mod, Sony Clear Audio Mod, Noozxoide and so on. But from my experience I found the best combination is "Dolby Digital Plus" combined with manual "Audio improvement Mod" in default_gain.conf file itself. Without any distortion I can hear crystal clear notes even if they are very low on frequency. I am on Dr. Ketan V14 Rom, Music FX and Default Music Player. Its worth the try. Follow these 2 threads:
Step 1) Install Dolby Digital Plus
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/themes-apps/dolby-digital-plus-note-2-t2918922
Step 2) Audio improvement for N7100 : (here you change the DAC values)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...io-improvement-n7100-break-vol-power-t3044738
Settings listed by Julian67 is more than enough, atleast for me. Good Luck.

High Audio Latency In Galaxy S6!

MODs feel free to move this thread if this isn't the right place for it, and I'm sorry if it isn't
Q: What is audio Latency?
A: Audio latency is defined as the time delay that a signal experiences as it passes through a system. On a mobile device, this is deeply related to how long it takes between tapping on a screen and receiving audio feedback.
Q: Why should I care?
A: Low audio latency can be the difference between an immersive gaming experience and an unpleasant, disconnected one. Too long a latency and a device can begin to feel strangely laggy, even if every visual animation is snappy and responsive. It is especially important — essential, even — for recording and composing music, since slow audio feedback can easily throw off even the best artists and destroy their creative process. Low latency is absolutely fundamental in a modern operating system, and it's been absolutely terrible on Android.
Unfortunately, iOS has always been way ahead of Android in terms of audio latency. Even iOS devices as old as the iPhone 4S (and much older) have average latency levels of about 7 ms.
Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2 had an estimated audio latency of about 195 ms, and the upgrade to version 5.1 brought that down to just 58 ms.
Speaking of Marshmallow, The Nexus 9 saw the largest gains, dropping from 32 ms in Android 5.1.1 down to just 15 ms in 6.0
and the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P both have very acceptable levels of 18 ms.
Now , The thing whcih worries me most is my Galaxy S6 (920-I) has an audio latency in range of 140ms-160ms running Lollipop 5.1.1 (on several trials)
My device status:
SM-G920I
Rooted,
ROM- Xtrestolite 2.4 (deodexed)
Hacks- Wanam Xposed, ViperMod, Dolby Audio.
So I dont know if all these modifications are what afftecting my S6's audio latency. So I request all those who are interested to measure their device's latency and reply back here . Especially those on stock rom unrooted and all.
Please also include your device status too. even screenshots if possible. and also share if you've had issues regarding to this latency(in games may be?).
Q: How to measure ?
A:There are several ways of measuring latency, and a very useful and easily understood one is called round-trip latency. Round-trip latency is calculated by inputting an audio signal into a device and measuring the amount of time it takes for the signal to exit the output

My HTC did much worse. Disabling V4A and Dolby Atmos did help a bit though. First pic was with all effects on. Second pic was with all effects off.
38 MS on stock 5.1

40ms here too with viper and adreilux hardware EQ
I'm getting ~150ms on a g920i with Xtrestolite 2.4 without any audio mods. I think it's the rom since others are getting ~40ms.
Probably more to do with the fact Xtrestolite is using an older samsung base.

Your right this is not good...High latency is mostly a issue of the internal DAC i'm sorry to say if thats the case this is not solvable.
I hope for you guys its just a software problem is some way but the availble audio mods dont have any effect on the latency.
For the op: Try a full clean whipe and total factory reset

Hi-Fi Audio with Custom ROM

Hello all,
I'm on the fence about moving back to using a custom ROM on my A2017U. The issue I have is that I had trouble on my last ROM using the Hi-Fi DAC, which really bothered me because part of the reason why I bought this phone was to take advantage of the better audio quality as compared to other phones at the time of its release. Presently, what's the easiest way to take advantage of the DAC on an 8.x AOSP ROM?
Thanks!

Hello all,

I guess you partly answered your question yourself. First of all, the reason to root devices and install custom ROMs have reduced drastically. Rooting and Custom ROMs were the thing when Android was in its initial stages. Now, they have grown it leaps and bounds and there isn't simply anything that a developer could add which is not present in the stock. That being said, people still root it for various reasons and I am okay with it. I used to be root all my phones but have completely stopped it in the last two years. I don't much value in rooting anymore. But that's me.
Now coming to this specific device, which is renowned for its audio capabilities. Why would you buy a phone which comes with stellar sound through both speakers and audio jack and install a custom ROM?!? There are certain things best left to the makers of the phone. I would look to install a custom ROM to enhance performance/features of a device. But in this case, if you are going to install a custom ROM, you are certainly going to rob the device of its audio capabilities. This phone is best left untouched if music/sound is your thing. I wouldn't even root this device, for the fear of breaking something that might deteriorate the sound quality. I own a ZTE Axon 7 Mini. I bought it mainly for its audio capabilities. It is my secondary phone for SIM2 and a media device. After buying, I just updated it to Android 7.1.1, froze the apps that I won't use. I certainly will not even root it, even though I know how to root it.
Hope this helps.

On Nougat AOSP you can get 192k no problem with Neutron. Literally ANY ROM from here uses the AK4490, because they are all patched now. Stock ROMs will use the AK4490 most of the time but not with the speakers (doesn't really matter) or with Dolby (Does matter) and sometimes it will even turn it off on Youtube for some reason.
I think you can't ger hi-fi in custom Oreo. But now you guys also have B01 and B12 which are stock Oreo and work just fine

It works. I'm on AEX oreo with Hellsgate Kernel and CAD driver for better control over the dac and it works flawlessly with direct pcm players like Neutron and UAPP.

I'm actually pretty sure that AEX already has the CAD driver integrates

I'm confused, first you said you can't get it working in custom oreo but now you are saying you can?
As far as I'm aware the CAD driver was to make oreo roms work that didn't have support, aex always has with the b10+b32 bootstack.
I guess it also gives you more control..the cad settings that is.

You can't get hi-fi in Oreo, that's that. Now, the DAC, sure. Those are two different things. Apps can't get direct_pcm output for some reason. But the AK4490 processes stuff just fine, albeit @48KHz.
The CAD driver was to be able to change the DAC's filters, only that. i.e. super-slow and stuff. It may or may not have added support on ROMs.

Yes I have and I'll be surprised if any other audio player will sound more Hi-Fi then UAPP besides the craptastic stock player

I don't know what do you mean "more HIFI" because the stock player is quite good and precise in the term of sound quality.
I have tested it with the best soundcards A/B.
Functionality is another story.
I hope your tip will work anyway...

And whats the problem with it ?
if my Axon7 guarantie goes over in december, I will thinking to go with AOSP or other custom rom. Sound is the most important for me. Now I have a little time to read again forums... And checking whats happened since than.
Also subscribed fans get this 6 mount bump letter also...
(also the stock player is real pain, would be great to use all the media through DAC)
Stock ROM is unable to do this, but can't move yet to custom ROM...

the problem is that you annoy everyone with a dead thread about something that seemingly was never really agreed upon. Honestly I'm about to make a thread explaining the facts if this keeps going (It'll get buried but whatever)
Point is, ALL SOUND GOES THROUGH THE DAC THAT IS SELECTED AT THE TIME (Unless you use Atmos, which will select the 4961 [crappy one])
If you want hifi off of another app, then use Poweramp or Neutron or that UAPP thing (i never tested it). They handle 192k just fine, proven.
Same story on custom ROMs since Nougat. GSIs are a bit more complex.
Poweramp's sound engine absolutely obliterates the stock app's sound.

don't think so, but LOS 16 will probably be the only candidate as GSIs have hideous audio
