Wifi Problem with Over channels 11(12,13) - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I Bought 3weeks ago A galaxy s6 Edge plus(SM-928C) Its on Official Samsung Android(6.0.1) and not rooted.
*(Wifi And simcard is ON And Airplane Mode switch off)
When I switch wifi router ON channel 12 or 13 everything Is normal and my wifi device is normaly work
But when I switch Wifi Off/On,wifi not connected to router and Wifi Freezing on Restarting and not connected to Router.*When I switching Off router Everything Is ok and my wifi device is normally and Show Other routers
*(But I switching on airplane mode and simcard status is off)
my wifi device is connected on my router on channels over 11(12,13) And normally working when I Switch airplane mode off and simcard status is Online everything is ok and normaly work.
but I again switching wifi off/On my wifi device is freezing on rebooting.
My Region : Iran
Router Region : japan
I Waiting for your helping.

I didn't understand your post fully, but what I do know is Channel 12 and 13 are crap.
12/13/14 are designed for 802.11b if I'm not wrong and only used in Japan.
Use Channel 1, 6 or 11 for better performance, and if you can set your device region to Iran instead of Japan.
Differences in transmit power, and frequency could land you in trouble.

You can only change from 2.4 to 5GHz if your router supports the 5GHz band.

5.0 5Ghz Wifi Issues

Did a full image wipe/install with the official 5.0. I'm no-longer able to connect to my Netgear r6800v2 router with the same channel 48 setting for 5Ghz that previously worked on android 4.4.4.
Any other folks out there with android 5.0 problems using 5Ghz channel?
EDIT: I should add - I'm fully aware the N10 has limited 5Ghz frequencies it works on (e.g. 40, 44, 48) - I've tried 36, 40, 44, and 48... none of these seem to work in android 5.0 with the same router settings. It can see the broadcast and attempts to connect, but IP address is never acquired (DHCP)
I'm having the same issue and my 2.4 network is very slow. Anyone else have this issue or any idea how to fix it.
Yeah I've had issues with 5ghz on every lollipop device I have. Haven't figured out how to fix it yet
I had the same issue and changing to Channel 44 (with Auto bandwidth = 40 mhz) solved it for me, it was on 36 initially
No problems here, did a clean flash of Lollipop and 5GHz is working fine with my RT-AC68U, channel 36, auto bandwidth.
Same problem here. Changed to channel 44 and is at least working
Wiped. Clean flash. No problems. On channel 157. Wish it would tell me if im 300mbit or not. Ac n66u.
Installed from a sideloaded OTA.
Have issues connecting to my Virgin Superhub 2 both on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.. Channel 8 and 36 i believe.

Go into Settings -> Wifi then tap the connected wifi network. It will tell you your link speed there. Mine is connected at 300mb/s, while in powersaver mode it drops to 24mb/s.

Mine only connects at 24Mbps and its not in powersave mode
I've similar issue, but both on 5ghz and 2.4ghz.
The connection isn't stable and I get disconnected all the time after upgrading to lollipop. If I'm tethering with my phone right next to the tablet (on 5ghz) it works perfectly. I'm not sure if they've tweaked the disconnect/reconnect threshold base on signal strength.
I'm having problems with 2.4 Ghz wifi too. In Jelly Bean I have a pretty good coverage with my home router but with Lollipop I get lots of disconnections and slow speed. I'm not sure if it's a drivers problem or an operative system change, but I know for sure that it's a pain in the ass.
I'm having the same problem with 2.4 Ghz.
Both 5 and 2.4 are much worse for me as well compared to kk.

I've solved my Wi-Fi speed problems changing one setting in my router: just disable WMM ( Wifi MultiMedia).
Try to enable/disable that setting (can be shown also as WME instead of WMM).
Good luck!
wifi is terrible after 5 update, on both 2g and 5g, constantley disconnects and not loading pages :crying:

My 2.4g is working perfectly, but it cannot see my neighbours 5g network. My Note 2 sees it fine. I checked with Wifi analyzer app.
I can connect to my BT home hub 5 but it only works for a free minutes and then it kind of freezes.
I'm still connected according to my tablet with good signal strength but there is no internet activity making the tablet pretty much a big paper weight for me at the moment.
If some one can help me fix this issue id be very grateful

Connecting just fine at 5GHz 300Mbps with 5.0. I have tested 2.4GHz as well and both function just fine.
I do connect easly, but connection quality is poor... There is definitely something wrong with Wi-Fi on lollipop

[Q] 802.11AC and 5GHz Issue

I've researched for any past issues on this topic but couldn't find anything similar.
I live in London and use Asus AC68U, I have connected my Note 4 (N910C) and Tab S fine on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but never checked whether this is connected on N or AC. The Channel setting on the router is left on Auto, and I've labaled the 5GHz SSID to have a "5G" at the end (eg. 2.4GHz SSID: "My WiFi" ; 5GHz SSID: "My WiFi 5G")
Then flew to Indonesia bringing along the AC68U, reset and reconfigured the Router to be used there, I have also configured an N66U as an Access Point (not repeater). Now my Note 4 cant' even see 5GHz anymore, even though wireless configuration is exactly the same as in London (except the WiFi SSID and password). I then found out a way to know which 802.11 speed my phone is connected to (by doing the #*0011# thing), and turned out it's on 802.11N 2.4Ghz.
I then went to the N66U (out of Radio range of the AC68U) and I still cannot see the 5GHz SSID. So I took out my Tab S 8.4, switched WiFi on, lo behold, 5Ghz is visible and able to connect to both router seamlessly. Checking the connection type, the Tab S is on 802.11AC Ch. 36 Frequency 5180Mhz, WiFi Power Save Mode On, link speed 866Mbps, to the AC68U.
My Dad has a Galaxy S5, it also cannot see the 5GHz SSID, but is at least connected to the 2.4GHz 802.11AC.
I have changed channels manually on the router but still can't see 5GHz from the Note 4, also switched OFF the WiFi Power Save Mode.
So the question is.... does my Note 4 N910C even have AC? And what is going on with my 5GHz band? Has anyone seen this problem before or point me to a thread you've been to?
I've got the n910c and connects in ac on 5ghz fine. I have a netgear r7000 running ddwrt. Has it ever worked for you ?

I also have the 910F and a Netgear R6300 with DD-WRT.
It took some configuring. But i expect this has something to do with the preset ups for using your router in Indonesia.
itll probably;y work when you get back to wherever you live.
Thanks for the replies.

5Ghz has worked for me in London using the same Asus router that I used in London, but I'm not sure if my Note 4 ever connected as AC.

Well, I brought the AC68U I used in London to Indonesia, the phone was connected on 5GHz on this router when it was in London, but somehow it can't even see the 5GHz SSID now in Indonesia.
I think I need to reset the modem and WiFi module somehow, been searching the web on how to do that but haven't found it yet.
Other devices that are currently able to connect to 5GHz and/or AC:
Galaxy Tab S: Can connect to 2.4GHz + 5GHz on AC
Galaxy S5: Can connect to 2.4GHz AC (Cannot see 5GHz AC)
Laptops: Can connect to 2.4GHz + 5GHZ N
Added Info: Tried WiFi Analyzer, Note 4 still cannot see 5GHz signal while the Tab S can.
Did you put in a local SIM? The phones may be respecting local regulations regarding frequency usage that the other devices don't, as they don't have a SIM giving them locale. I'd be curious what would happen if you put in your London SIM.

Yeah I'm using local SIM, but when I arrived still with my Voda UK SIM in the phone, the existing N66U Router (before I turned it into Access Point) was transmitting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, my Note 4 couldn't see it. I thought I had switched off 5G SSID but when I checked, it was ON. Very sure something is up with this Note 4.
I removed the SIM card and inserted it to my LTE Tab S, switched it on, switched WiFi on, connected to 5G just fine.
I'm gonna try re-flashing the same stock ROM. This phone and the Tab are all Non-Rooted btw.
Solution: Don't set the frequency to "Auto". Manually choose the frequency for 5 Ghz, preferably to something low such as channel 36. This worked for me. I haven't tried with any other frequency though. Someone mentioned online that it might be due to Android phones not supporting DFS frequencies.
Good luck.

I just installed dd-wrt on my netgear r7000 and my n910h stopped seeing the 5Ghz band after that.
With r7000 stock firmware everything is fine.
Could you please tell me what's your dd-wrt settings for the 5Ghz band?

Is the Note4 really 802.11ac WiFi compatible?

I recently upgraded to a new 802.11ac router.
All my other ac equipped devices work well in the full dual-band mode. But not the Note4. It doesn't want to use the two bands together, with the full added bandwidth.
The Note4 is supposed to be ac compatible, but mine will only use one band or the other. In normal use it only locks onto the 2.4GHz channel.
If I switch off the router's 2.4GHz channel, the Note4 locks onto the 5GHz channel straight away, no problem. And of course it has more bandwidth.
But as soon as I turn the 2.4GHz signal back on again, the Note4 goes back to the 2.4GHz channel only.
This happens regardless of the phone being close to the router with big signals on both bands, or further away with weaker signals.
I've tried using the 'Smart Network Switch on and off, but that seems to make no difference.
Any ideas?
Edited to say: The channels I'm using are both clear of interference, checked with inSSIDer.
Thats strange, i know its 802.11 AC. Thats a fact. But i never checked to see if its dual band compatible. gotta look into this, thx for the heads up...

Samsung G935F - wifi problem

Hi ALL,
I noticed that my My Galaxy S7 Edge's Wifi constantly keeps turning off and on for some reason! does anyone else experience this on their phone?
Thank you.
Is their any known wifi issues on Galaxy S6 Edge (international variant)?
Can anyone help.
Could you be more specific? Do you have WiFi turned on while your screen is off? Maybe post your advanced WiFi settings so we can see if there is anything off

The following things have generally helped:
- Set DIFFERENT SSIDs for 2.4 and 5GHz bands. I have found that most devices and routers do a terrible job dynamically switching between the networks if each as the same SSID - I think the chipset recognizes the SSID and constantly jumps from one band to the other depending on which had the strongest signal.
- Disable the bluetooth and wifi SCANNING feature (not bluetooth itself as one of the prior posters cited). This setting is found in "locations" and allows your phone to scan for recognized wifi and bluetooth networks even when wifi or bluetooth is turned off to pinpoint its location. Given that bluetooth only has about a 50 ft range, its puzzling why the bluetooth scanning is even an option
- Set the channel width in the router to 20 MHz or 40MHz. Some products can't recognize the 80MHz channel widths (my old S5 couldn't recognize my travel router if I had it set to 80MHz. Note that this may slow down your connection.
- Disable Smart Network Switch (in Wifi Advanced settings) or other similar setting that dynamically switches between Wifi and mobile data depending on network access
- Get 802.11ac-capable router. This may be less of an issue now, but for a couple years after the ac standard came out, a lot of ac clients would have issues with legacy non-ac routers. Obviously not ideal.
I don't have problem with my S6 Edge connecting to my home wifi.
I tried to disable some setting as Joku suggested and it minimized the wifi connection drops. I noticed that my S7E connected most on my 2.4GHz

same problem with my S7 Edge
Having this problem only with certain routers (other phone models stay connected just fine). The router only has 2.4 GHz, and bluetooth is off, scanning is off, smart switch is off.

Bluetooth disconnect when wifi tethering is on and perform a call

Hi team,
I have wifi tehetering on and the bluetooth paired (car or handsfree). If I try to call or i receive It, the bluetooth and wifi tether disconnect and after the call, the networks go alive.
I have a Nokia 6 ta-1003. Any help?
Thanks in advance
I guess both radios, Wifi and BT, were operating in the same the 2.4GHz band and were overlapping with some LTE band. Try changing Hotspot band to 5Ghz and see if it helps. You cannot change BT band though.
I guess LTE bands 40,41 can clash with 2.4Ghz Wifi/BT

Thanks, changed wifi tethering to 5ghz works, but my car only support 2,4 ghz
My last phone (Samsung A5) works nice with 2,4ghz wifi tethering and BT. IS It only a Nokia 6 issue?
I'm not sure it's Nokia 6 specific issue. Probably your A5 did not support LTE bands which clash with Wifi/BT at 2.4 GHz.
You can also try disabling 4G/LTE and force 3G only on your Nokia and see if Wifi/BT disconnect during calls.

I have the same problem which started after the phone got updated to 8.1
With 8.0 it was working fine. I contacted Nokia support but they were far from technical and offered some trivial changes in the settings which didn't help. They were not even authorized to register it as a bug.
I'm afraid that unless the phone receives another software update, we're stuck with this.
Alex.
Thanks a los for your reply.
Do hoy think that we could fix It changing LTE band channel?
