Just thought I'd let people know how I have found using the moto e for a week coming from many past flagships. My last few phones have been all Samsung models up until the note 3, and Sony models up to the z1. For starters, this device has functioned perfectly stable, across all of its functionality, this includes gps, reception, call quality etc. the user interface runs with fewer hiccups than my past note3 and z1. No odd crashes thus far, hasn't slowed down even with an 128gb micro sd card full of music.
Mobile phone cameras have never been of much use to me so this device ticks all the boxes, also helps that the headphone out is louder than the z1 and note 3 I had, looking forward to installing viper4android. My main use of smartphones is music, browsing, eBay, some video use and gps navigation, and for all of these functions this phone has been perfect. Briefly tested out gaming performance and it's perfectly usable for that too surprisingly. I'd suggest that anyone who is on the fence about buying the moto e should not hesitate unless a camera is important to you, as it's awfully bad on the moto e, although to be fair I only took a quick few pics maybe if your patient with it it could be of some use to some perhaps.
Battery life has been exceptional, first depletion from a full charge has gave me 1day and 7 hours and over 5 hours screen on time, second charge has lasted 1day 17 hours and 3h30 screen on with 10percent left. Hope this helps those people currently considering it as a usable device, any questions feel free.
What app are you using when listening to your music on the micro sd card?
¿How are you using an 128 GB MicroSD card if the specs of the phone says that the maximum supported is 32 GB?
BTW, the phone is incredible for an minimalistic user (as me) and the only bad thing is the camera, very basic.

So it is coming on two years that this phone has been out, which means that a lot of people will have upgrades available. Who plans on upgrading to a new phone and what are you looking at getting?
At this time, I'm sticking with this phone. CM11 is giving me all I need. The phone still works well, and if I were to get a new phone, I'd have to purchase it at full price, lest I lose my unlimited data.
So, no moving to a new phone, nor do I have a reason to. Just because this phone is two years old doesn't mean it's no longer good. As long as you have an unlocked bootloader, this phone will continue to work well, especially with CM11 pumping out nightlies like crazy.
Lol, I just moved to the Razr HD from the Droid 3. I was using a Galaxy S2 HD LTE while I was stationed in Korea a few months back and the Razr is by far a superior phone to both. I'm the one that likes to tinker, so I like these older phones. I got the wife a Moto X a while back and that phone runs great. Far better battery life than my Maxx and has all the cool little functions, the coolest being the Active Display. The new Moto X looks great too but I'm sticking to the Razr. I just need basic functionality, the most important being the wifi hotspot which my iPad Air is always tethered to. Both the Moto X and Razr were purchased off contract, the Moto X was purchased off the Motorola website and the Razr through Amazon used. I am really enjoying this phone so far and was extremely happy that I was able to unlock the bootloader. Just need to wait for the unlock to be available for the Moto X and the world will be perfect! Yeah, I know about the China middleman but would prefer not to go that route. So bottom line, don't care about the new phones... Quite happy with my Razr running VZW 4.4.2 and ART Runtime. But if I was to look for a new phone, that new Moto X looks really good.
Edit: back to dalvik, phone was running stupid with art enabled on the drive to the mall and back. Couldn't run any music player Bluetooth'd to the car without the music being choppy. Don't know if it is a Bluetooth issue or art issue but didn't happen again on a short drive after switching back to dalvik. Oh well, I can run xposed again, so all is not lost!!!
I lost mine and still got another one. Had mine for one year, plan on sticking to this one for at least one more, or until something a lot better comes around.
With cm11 on it, it does everything I need to, with headroom. Dont care about new phones, at least for now.
Maybe can consider if they release a good phone with earth-shattering battery life, but I really dont see it happening so soon..

Let's put it this way - I'm getting at least 1.5 days of battery if not more. This morning, I'm at 77% with over 13 hours not charging. I've received and sent texts, played a game or two of Madden Mobile, read email, made and received phone calls. Battery life on my non-maxx RAZR HD is awesome under CM11 with Xposed modules Greenify, Unbound and AppOpsXposed. Never got this under stock.

I agree, greenify and unbounce are amazing apps. The fact that notifications are still available while hibernated with greenify is awesome. Well worth the extra few bucks!! With unbounce, I'm running the old version before he went all fancy with the ui because it became too much. Just want something simple that does the job on its own like greenify. I unfortunately bricked my phone when I accidentally flashed a RAZR M ROM. I was so pissed that night that I literally went to the Best Buy page and ordered a Droid Maxx. I also ordered a new motherboard that night so now I have the RAZR Maxx HD as a backup. I plan on switching in between the two often!!
All of the new phones are going the way of obnoxious.

So basically there needs to be Generation 1 Moto X with the 805+ processor, 3300maH+ battery, microSD slot, removable back with replaceable battery (if design needed, I'm okay with putting the SD and SIM back inside with battery), 8GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM to keep up with OS upgrades for at LEAST 2 years.
not until may next year, i do want a new phone due to specs and such. android L snapdragon 810 deserve a wait and see reviews/prices of devices.
cm11 runs fine with me, just the random crash but i get 4 hours of screentime easy.
basically ill upgrade to 3000+mah 32/64GB + microSD S810 phone with 1080p/QHD under $650 USD. sony z4, lg g4 and htc m9 are on the shortlist due to their nice phones, but if sammy gets their act together with the ui in the s6 (comeon, just root, unlock bootloader and we're set with stock android L) and i might consider them. the s810 will support all lte bands so unlocked is a must. i pay $10 USD every 2 months for 100 min/texts/mb and that's all i need, no contract.
I'm looking at getting the Galaxy S5. I'm sick of Motorola being so restrictive with their bootloaders. Custom ROMs are the reason that I want an Android phone.

You think Samsung on VZW is any better? On Verizon right now, the M8 is probably the best bang-for-buck if you want a non-dev model that can be modded.

After looking into it some more, I realized that it was being restricted by Verizon. Honestly, I'm going to wait for the Nexus 6
Droid Turbo or the corresponding GSM variant are starting to look real good.
Really liking the new Nexus 6 and the Droid Turbo, but...
Without a procedure for unlocking the phone, I'm not buying the Turbo. Without the Xposed Framework being updated to work with 5.0, I'm not buying the Nexus 6. I've become too dependent on root and Xposed (among other things root is good for) to go back to a locked down phone without rooting capabilities and no Xposed support. Also I'd much prefer the 5.2" screen to the 6" screen. Not ready to jump that high (yet...)
I am hoping a dev works his/her magic and figures out a way to unlock that bad boy Turbo before long. I've become so heavily dependent on Xposed to make this phone do every single thing I want it to that the RAM and processing power are sadly just not enough. And with the Turbo on 4.4.4, I could block (freeze, disable, whatever) the updates so as to not be bothered with 5.0 until Xposed is updated to run on it.
...plus I think the KitKat Moto built for this phone was half-a$$ thrown together, and the update did nothing to correct anything (made things worse from my own perspective). I may have to take the plunge into the world of Cyanogen or another custom ROM.
EDIT: Switched over to the new DirtyUnicorns ROM for my phone and everything is head and shoulders better than before - won't be updating to a new phone for a long long time now.

It's been a roller-coaster trying to get good performance out of the XT926 and XT907. My wife and I picked them up about 6 months after they came out, and I've been following CM for most of that time. When my 907 died, she picked up a galaxy s6 edge. I kept the 926.
CM11 was great at first. Fast and snappy but missing some features and small issues. No big deal.
CM11 became bloated and slow leading up to the transition to LP. Battery life went down the drain. The phone was slower than dirt.
CM12 seemed great at first, but quickly deteriorated after a month or so of nightlies. I suffered through this for way too long before beginning the hunt for something new.
Dirty Unicorns 9.7 seemed like an improvement right after the first bootup but quickly revealed serious performance issues. I understand some older versions of Dirty Unicorns were great.
CM11 is still being maintained unofficially! Rejoice. Buttery smooth so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Wish I'd bothered to look back at CM11 sooner... I wonder at what point in the last 6 months the unofficial updates were able to get it running well, again. I think I'll have this phone for quite a while longer.

I may be on a jbbl, but its gotten smoother since 12.1 kernel commits started coming in. At least thats my perception of things based off of my experience. And you nailed it right on the head with 12, thats why i downgraded to 11

Has anyone looked at the "Marshmallow" update for the XT926? Google pulls it up and there are a ridiculous number of surveys to fill out but ultimately it says to look around on xda dev.....yet I see nothing Marshmallow related here for our, now legacy, devices.

You are right. The S6 is practically an iPhone. Its a shame. But I am sure you know that Samsung had a terrible year last year while Apple had one of the best quarters they ever had. Samsung had to change something, and I guess that change was copying the iPhone again. I guess they're hoping to draw back a lot of iPhone users now that their design can compete. But that's about it. I do not understand why HTC can manage to fit a micro sd slot in their phone. Why couldn't Samsung?
So at the moment, are there any new flagship phones with both removable battery and SD card?

@MattMJB0188 - Cuz htc's newest device isn't 6.8mm thick, that is why they manged to fit an SD slot.
Also you are forgetting an important point about the memory of the S6. It uses new type of flash memory, instead of the old NAND one, meaning that the overall performance of the phone would improve. Samsung are trying to achieve better write and read speeds basically.
Now imagine a scenario where you did had a SD card slot. Well what do you thing the speed of read and write would be from the card? Like 5x slower? Hence the performance of the whole device wouldn't feel as snappy. Then ppl are going to start bi***ing about the lag, and not being able to copy a whole blue-ray movie onto their cards for under 3 seconds and so on and so on.
So yeah. I thing Samsung tried dodging a bullet there by removing the SD card. Of course it has its negative sides, but in general should be fine without SD slot.

You are right. Of course, can we really expect all 4 major U.S. carriers offering 32/64/128gB configurations of the phone? I don't think so. If history repeats itself (which with Sammy you know it will) the carriers will only get 32GB variants, and then MAYBE 64GB variants sometime this summer with 128GB be left out over seas. This is WHY expandable storage is a MUST with Samsung phones. I'll gladly take a performance hit instead of have no option at all.
Besides... people complained about TW lagging and simple things taking a few extra seconds. I never read from anyone on here that their SD card was so slow that the phone's performance was taking a huge hit.

The argument about faster memory is stupid. Nobody is stopping Samsung from putting faster memory onboard. However, do you really need lightning fast memory for storing your music, or photos, maps, or videos? No. That's bollocks. SD card is plenty fast for those.
I can live without hw buttons and oled screen doesn't bother me either. there's nothing wrong with either imo they are both good screens oled, and slcd.

The fact that most carriers (not only US ones) are not offering the 128GB model, or even the 64GB is true, and it sucks. I, too am very sad about removing the SD card slot. The SD card saved my a** a couple of times with my previous phones, so it is a must have for sure.

To you it might be stupid. To Samsung it isn't, cuz now they can brag about them having the fastest performing handset with the fastest flash memory. Does this help me, you and the average user in ANY way? No. Does Samsung care about that? Absolutely not.
On the other hand ppl with S6 will be able to show good results on the different benchmarks, which is.... nice..... I guess.
No reason why they can't have both super fast imbedded storage and an SD card. Of course SD cards are slower than internal, that's always been the case. I'd load the SD card with FLAC music favorites and enjoy the speedy internal storage for more frequent transfers. I understand Samsung's reasoning behind it, but I still don't like it, and it's quite likely this will prevent me from dropping money on Samsung again, at least for my next upgrade. For everyone like me who opts out, they'll probably gain 2 or 3 new buyers, so I doubt they'll miss us much. I was hoping Samsung would find a way to pursue their new industrial design objectives, while retaining the features that have kept me buying and recommending Galaxy phones, but no dice. Of course, if the phone is otherwise so good that the loss of SD, battery, and waterproofing still make it a better device than the M9, G4, Z4....
If I thought there was any reason to believe that the Saygus V2 will: 1. be a real product, 2. work on T-Mobile, 3. get WiFi calling, I'd jump on that.
How one can improve almost everything and then decide to get rid of a removable battery and sd card is beyond imaginable.
So glad I've bought the Note great design, functionality and it has all the features I'm expecting from a premium device.
Hopefully, Samsung doesn't screw up the Note series too.

I don't think it was just one reason they decided to remove the SD-card and use a non-removable battery
I think they removed the SD card to ensure the user experience was always fast. How many threads have you guys read where crummy SD cards caused slowness, or corruption or some other problem. I know I've read a few. Apple has never liked SD cards, neither has Google themselves. With UFS being introduced, a very fast, serial, full duplex storage connection, that starts at 32GB, it was time to remove the SD slot.
I think they decided to go with a non-removable battery because of all the wireless technology they had to cram into this thing. On top of all the normal wireless technology crammed into phones these days (GSM/CDMA, LTE, 802.11 AC 2x2 MIMO and N, NFC, Bluetooth 4.1), they also had to add Qi, PowerMat wireless charging and MST. I don't think they could get away with a removable cover.
Just guessing, so I could be wrong.
The Galaxy S6 Edge rocks. That's the one. It will fly.

Well from start Samsung has always portrayed that we will give you a better ""iphone". They did it in S1 to s3 by copying iphone. They changed a bit but that didn't work out well and now they are back to copy business. Seriously this is sad for loyal buyers. Still i am glad they didn't ruin Note series like S series.
So somewhat concerned right now (I mean not reallly if its a bad phone It gets returned) First off the ringtones weren't working never had this happen on any android Ive ever had. So I did I reset and this seemed to fix this, however now my 32gb microsd card isn't recognized. Frustrated
confirmed my 32gb card got someone damaged while in this phone. Granted I've had the card a while and maybe it just gave up the ghost but still. Got a 128gb black friday card for 24 bucks (actuallly two). So hopefully this was a one time deal
Hope your troubles are over. My Sprint V20 has been flawless and I'm in love with my phone again. Was a huge Samsung Note 3, 4 & 7 fan. The 4 gps died. Known issue with gps antenna contacts. The 3 went up in smoke and the 7 got returned because of recall.
I would give your v20 one more shot. Strike 3 and I would exchange it.
SD card now isn't recognized did you encrypt the SD storage?
Had issue with V20 and i bought off Ebay thinking it was factory. 2 memory cards were giving me problems. Take photos, save to SD card and if i rebooted, pics were corrupted. Formatted each card again, didn't matter. I finally did a factory reset of the phone. No issues since, kinda extreme measure but it worked. No further issues with SD cards.
I've had an SD card suddenly go corrupted and break unexpectedly. Once it happened while booting up my G4 for the first time. On using new phone always try to enable it in settings/storage first. If that doesn't help format it via Android or on PC. I had to wipe/format my SD card before this phone would detect it.
I've tried opening the SD card on other phones and my computer it is not recognized. I got a pop up while it was in the V20 saying sdcard not ejected properly or something. I"m guessing this is when it quit (thats what I get for not backing the pictures up right). I have a huawei watch and one of the settings between the phone and watch was causing my ringtone not to work (fixed). So far rapid recharge works great, finding usb c cords a little hard to come by and I just missed the [email protected] earbud promotion by like 3 days. I'd love to root this for wifi hotspot but other than that this phone is really nice.
I'm on Sprint. Got the V20. Worked well for a bit, then kept freezing on me requiring daily battery pulls. After exhausting all troubleshooting, I finally exchanged the phone for another one. So far this new one is smooth as butter.
When I re-installed apps, I did the painstaking effort of downloading directly from the Play store instead of transferring from the old phone.
My old phone was a lemon. Get a new one if you can. It is a good one when it works.

Same here, I was on the Samsung wagon for the past several years (Since the first Note), and I just got rid of my Note 5 to go with the Sprint LG V20 and it's amazing.. The only thing I have a gripe about, is that in my house I don't get LTE throughout my home and in my living room my phone goes into 3G mode.. :/ my Note never did that with AT&T but I guess that's a Sprint thing I'll have to deal with for now..
Yes I've moved to a newer handset (Umidigi F1) but still had a thing for the Idol 3 besides being a nice audio player, AAMOF it was still running great with MM Lineage. I was going to lend it to my niece who "misplaced" her phone, but when trying to pull out the old Sim card, the tray got stuck and as much as I tried it wouldn't come out so I had to pull it out, and out it came... along with two tiny pieces of metal. So this not only killed the SD card, but now it doesn't recognize any SD card o sim. Oh well.
I liked this model so much that I bought this second one when my first idol 3 was stolen and got a BLU life One as replacement.
Still have both boxes though, the first one still has the original accessories untouched.
