I have a s4 i9505 snapdragon on official rooted rom and have been trying to get back to official binary and rom status but have tyred triangle away and reflashing back to official rom with odin but having no success as fare as the binary goes I have tyred repatriation it to can any one pls help I have custom recovery Philz touch installed
You don't say what version of Android you're on, but if I recall correctly, versions from Android 4.3 and up no longer use a flash counter in the bootloader, as it has been replaced with the Knox flag. For those devices, TriangleAway will not work, and there is no way to reset the Knox flag. Once the Knox flag is tripped, it stays tripped.
The custom recovery is why your status is not "Official". To get "Official" status you have to install all the stock components, including the recovery. Personally, given many of these devices are at the three-year mark in lifespan, the warranty no longer matters and thus I would keep a custom recovery. Only, I would replace said recovery with TWRP, as Philz doesn't seem to play nice with current ROMs.

Hello Guys,
Let's start with the story :
Old Bootloader, Stock Kernel , PhilZ CMW and Rom XXUDMBA with Chainfire Root.
Then i've installed through CMW the Know Free XXMI1, with Adam Kernel and Modem XXMI1 and still CMW Philz.
Suddenly my phone started to get crazy. Not able to receive calls, pohone freeze , screen blinking etc... Tried with factory and wipe but stucked on S4 logo (not even the samsung one)
Installed, through Odin, the MH8 pre-rooted, Modem MH8, Stock Kernel.
Now i've the new Bootloader, Knox Status stil 0x0, New Modem and New Rom. Everything is working but i've a question.
If i would like to have back the Philz Custom Recovery, flashing with odin, the Knox status will reach 0x1 ?
And why now my device says that my status is modified. I have stock kernel, recovery, rom (just knox free).
and if i would like to update the Rom with a stock one, with knox and all the other s***t, do i need to go necessary through Odin ? because OTA are compromised.
Last question is : Is the wifi-fix mandatory ? i don't know how to know if my wifi has problem. So far seems to work perfectly.

Modified because its pre-rooted...
Flashing anything through ODIN will change the void warranty from 0x0 to 0x1 unless its a stock rom (from MH8 up otherwise you will soft brick)....
You might be able to get rid of the modified status if you flash a totally stock rom but who wants to do that?
So the next question is :
If i would like to flash a new pre-rooted or custom rom i'll void my knox anyway. Because now i have stock recovery and this mean that i can flash only through Kies to a stock Rom right ?
Flashing a custom recovery with Odin (Knox 0x1)
Flashing a stock pre-rooted rom with Odin (Knox 0x1)
Flashing a stock rom newer then mine with kies or Odin (Knox 0x0)
am i right ? so i'm stucked on this ROM in other words, unless i'll just don't care about Knox.
Hi,
I'm a new S4 (i337M) owner, I had a S2 but it broke.
I saw a couples of warning about the Knox BS from Samsung and I want to be sure that I understand everything.
My Android Version is 4.3 MK6 . In the download mode, I have the knox 0x0 . If I install the CWM Recovery, is it possible to keep the 0x0 or it will trip to 0x1 ? My phone is rooted but I want to do a nandroid backup before playing with mods and roms and I think that it's not possible without a custom recovery.
If I trip knox to 0x1, I know that I will not be able to use the knox option (and I don't give a sh_t about Knox) but if it's possible to do a nandroid without tripping the 0x0, it will be nice
Thanks guys !
Yes, if you flash CWM, your Knox will trip to 0x1, and your warranty will be void.
No, you cannot do a Nandroid without a custom recovery, which means you will trip your Knox counter.
Yes, you CAN root your MK6 without tripping Knox, it just will not give you custom recovery options.

My S4 is rooted ( I did it an hour after I had the phone ) , so if I have a Knox 0x1 and if I don't care about the know feature and about the phone's warranty, do I will be able to flash customs roms and original roms ?

I have an AT&T S4 that has a tripped Knox counter(0x1). I have no problems gaining root access. I have used Odin 3.10, Heimdall, Casual, and Loki to try to obtain a custom recovery such as CWM or TWRP, but none of these worked. I'm starting to think that if the Knox counter is tripped, the container for Samsung's Knox software is locked forever and you can never flash a custom recovery. Someone PLEASE tell me I'm wrong and there is a way to flash custom recovery with a 0x1 counter tripped.

On the SGH-I337, any bootloader more recent than the original MDB or MDL are locked in such a way that you can not load a custom kernel or a custom recovery. You are limited to root, safestrap, and Samsung Touchwiz based firmware. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with knox.
Incidentally, the original MDB and MDL bootloaders were locked as well, but LOKI exploited a flaw in the bootloader code which allowed custom kernel and custom recovery to be installed. This flaw was removed starting with the MK2 and newer bootloaders.
If you have a KNOX bootloader you can have a custom ROM or not?
I know that it will trip the KNOX flag but can you still use a custom ROM.
Thanks
yeah. the only difference is that it voids your warranty even if you unroot.
Yes you can have a custom ROM.

Were would be the best place to start?
I have a knox bootloader which is probly already tripped.
I attempted to flash clockworkmod and got greeted with a Samsung unauthorized software and it wouldn't work.
My phone is fine right now with a stock recovery so what custom recovery do you use or how do you get around this?
I'm use to nexus devices.
Edit: I used CF Auto Root and now i have a 0x1 warranty status. Now it appears clockworkmod is working.
Thanks for your help
Hi, i rooted my phone and now want to make it official again, i still was using the stock rom on my phone, in su i done a unroot but phone still shows as custom.
can anyone help?
james
If you have a custom recovery, flashing a stock recovery may help. However, I personally recommend flashing a stock ROM through Odin. This will change the status to official, but keep in mind it will not touch the Knox flag if set to 0x1. There is no way to reset the Knox flag, so don't ask.
Hello to all of you
Using Odin, I flashed TWRP recovery on a non-rooted Galaxy J5 (2016) J510F (with android 6.0.1) to take a Nandroid backup. I took the backup successfully. Rebooting to android deleted TWRP and replaced it with stock recovery.
Now the system is not rooted (I checked with root checker). "Device status" is "Custom". Also in ODINE MODE, the "SYSTEM STATUS" is "CUSTOM" (look at the attached picture).
Is there a way to change "Device status" and "SYSTEM STATUS" from Custom to Official?
Thanks
You've customized your device by Flashing TWRP, to get Official back you'll have to flash stock recovery back

When I boot to recovery mode, stock recovery is there. Is this not enough?
Pretty sure that TWRP is still there somewhere, even if your not able to boot it you flashed it with Odin, reflash the stock boot image with Odin and do a factory erase. Should go back to Official.

1. Should I reflash "boot image" or "stock recovery"?
2. Does flashing "boot image" or "stock recovery" (without factory reset and without flashing entire ROM) delete the data?
If you've only modified the recovery then just reflash that no need to worry about boot.img unless you were previously rooted

Where can I download stock recovery.tar for J510F?
Just flash whole FIRMWARE, and you will have Official system status, but that doesn't change Knox 0x1 which means that you have rooted your phone (or modified it in some way) and someone that knows few stuff about android will always checj knox status so it doesn't matter what your system status is.

Do you mean that after flashing whole FIRMWARE "SYSTEM STATUS" in ODINE MODE will change to "OFFICIAL", but "WARRANTY VOID" will not change to "0x0"?
Knox 0x0 relies on an eFuse which is triggered when you press the volume up key to confirm and then flash something. You cannot change it back, you used to be able to hide it with TriangleAway by @Chainfire but not sure it works now. And Yes you'll have to flash the whole stock firmware from Sammobile to get Official back

What you said posed a question for me. You said "Knox 0x0 relies on an eFuse which is triggered when you press the volume up key to confirm and then flash something."
Entering into Downloading mode needs pressing volume up key. Does this mean that even flashing official ROM with ODIN voids warranty?
I've actually done it with an S5 I bought once and that too cause 0x1 despite it being 0x0 before and me flashing stock. The device had never been tampered with and the only reason I flashed it with Odin was because I couldn't find a Marshmallow Rom for it at the time other than the stock one just released.
