Show bluetooth battery level on phone? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Any ideas if this is even possible? I know the LG G4 has this and it's something iOS has ... would be very useful ..

This annoyed me as well because I came from a LG G3 and it did it out of the box. There are apps in the Play store that claim to be able to show the battery level but most are tracking usage and estimating, not actually receiving the battery info from the device. I know the devices I have report the battery level because it worked fine on my G3. Its really annoying to get into the gym with your Bluetooth headphones only to have them die a couple of minutes into your workout because there is no way to know the battery level.

Aye, that's the exact same problem I have. It's pretty irritating ...

Same problem coming from a LG G3
Still no solution ?

I can see the battery level on my Samsung Fit Watch 2 on my phone, but there is direct software support for that one. I wonder if other Samsung BT gear has the same feature.

I use Samsung Level U bluetooth headset, and the app show the battery level...

So got the Atrix finally! Few questions..

Well for one, what apps do you guys recommend? Two, the battery is charging REALLY slow over USB only, *iphone didn't have this issue either*, is this normal? Am NOT bagging on this phone just wondering if this is normal lol. Also music is taking forever to sync compared to my iPhone. Third, I have Advanced Task Killer to kill apps, but thats about it. I have wifi off, bluetooth off, screen brightness is a little bit more than quarter on, and I turned sounds and texting vibrations on the keyboard off. What else is there to do to conserve battery life? It's all at stock btw still on MotoBlur, not ready to root yet want to get the feel of the phone first and understand it.
hew your own grave
ps: for the battery charge, you need the original cable and download the drivers from motorola to charge from pc
link
I don't think you really need Advanced Task killer as there is a built in one already for Android. As for battery saving, definitely turn on one of the battery savers for when you are sleeping and don't need it to constantly use data to sync. It saves a lot of battery life. Another thing to do is make sure your browser has the option for plug ins as "On Demand". Putting the display to auto brightness also helps a bit.
Make sure you go through a complete battery cycle or two to calibrate your phones battery. Discharge your phone until it turns off by itself. Then charge it for 10-12 hrs. Do this a couple of times and the battery meter should be calibrated.

Yeah I got that driver, thanks first poster, doesn't seem to help. And I will definitely set plug ins as on demand, thank you for that bit of advice! One thing I am going to complain about is the audio quality through headphones.. They are horrible.. I googled another program and trying something called PowerAmp? I think, and not much of a difference. It all sounds really weird and washed out... I'm just picky with my audio quality, I'm sure anyone else wouldn't see the problem..
Have you tried playing with the audio settings? From the settings, under sound, at the very bottom.

I'm using a spare BB cable my wife had laying around for charging off my laptop at work, and it charges just fine with that.
I use power amp as music app. It is the best one I come across yet. Use the free trial for it.

I'll cover one of the issues you're having... You need to look into the different classes of SD cards. There are 1,2,4,6,10 I believe.
I have a class 10 with 3000+ song and they sync in about 2hrs.

hmm okay thanks guys well I just need to get this battery going so i guess I gotta drain it completely and charge it again for 10 hours for a couple times. I'll start that today asap. the battery drains REALLY fast though.. I think I used it for an hour of web browsing and texting and was killing the apps every 5-10 minutes or so, and I was at like 70 percent already in an hour and 35 minutes.
that's with email off, facebook notifications every hour, brightness less than a quarter up, wifi on, gps off, apps getting killed pretty frequently, and I did get the new update from March 30th, so..
for apps i got advanced task manager(great app for closing background apps), juice defender also helps with the battery, after u drain it, your battery will be fine
My battery life was also awful until I conditioned the battery a few times. I was suspect of that actually working but it made a noticeable difference. Another thing to keep in mind is that the battery notification works in 10% intervals. So, 70% could be more like 75%? I'm not sure how they are actually tracking it, I would hope 70% means between 65 and 75 percent, but the fact that they only made it do 10% intervals in the first place makes me think anywhere between 60 and 80 is possible.

Yeah it's definitely different, but I am liking it so far. The apps don't seem as fluid and GPS does take a bit of a while when put next to an iPhone, but it's one of the few sacrifices I am willing to take for a better phone experience.

Yeah. I dont like that when I reset the phone it resets my battery statistics but oh well.
I don't think the GPS takes THAT long in comparison to the iPhone's. Then again, rarely use Google Maps for anything but looking up phone numbers, so who knows.
As for battery life.... how many widgets do you use? If you've got a couple, as i know the Atrix came stock with, they'll kill the battery REALLY quick. Think the first day i had it, it basically drained well over 20%/hr. Pretty much the only widgets i have now are the Circle Battery Widget, Google Voice, and Google Search.... plus the ones to shut off things like wifi, GPS, and adjust brightness and such. Unplugged my phone at 9:30AM..... now at 5:30PM it still has 74%.
Using the Android task manager and adding apps to the auto-close list helps a lot too, and doesn't really seem to require you to manually end them quite as often.
As for charging.... you using a USB cable connected to your computer, or just the provided wall adapter? If you're using your computer to charge it, the Motorola drivers help, as well as (from what i've found) going into the notification pane where it tells you that the USB cable is connected, and changing the USB connection to None.... as in not to sync nor as a mass storage device. Seems like that way it's not trying to access the phone as the phone is trying to charge, which might be causing it to charge slower.
And.... in regards to the sound quality.... are you using a nice set of headphones/earbuds, or are you using the Apple ones? IMHO.... no offense to Apple.... but their earbuds absolutely suck. And, to be honest, i've never really been thrilled by the audio quality from my iPhone 4 and 3GS when i had them. If you are using the Apple earbuds, i'd say try finding a nicer pair. I usually recommend just about anything from Sennheiser. Awesome quality noise cancelling earbuds. Actually listening to music on my Atrix while typing this on my computer, and i can't even hear thekeys as i'm typing, even with only one notch of volume from the bottom.
But yea.... i don't see how people can use Apple's earbuds.....

Yeah I got a nice pair. Vmoda remixes and they sound fantastic on my iPhone' but I guess the audio sounds different switching to a different device. ill get used to it I suppose. Im using the USB that came with the wall adapter and I have not tried set to none for that long. As for widgets I have weather and I deleted all the motorola stuff. I have those 4 contact widgets, google bar, and that music player thats stock. I usually kill all my apps every 5 minutes or so. Thank you for your informative post elementaldragon!

If you are using the built in weather app don't forget to set the location so that it doesn't constantly need to use the GPS to search where you are located every time you try to get a weather update. It should help save some battery.

actually apple's headphones aren't that bad, i had(well still have) some skull candy in-ear headphones and they sound amazing! but if i were to wear them while dancing or running they would easily fall out and it would get aggrivating having to keep putting them back in rather than apple's headphones which don't fall out at all and the cord is long which is really helpful and the sound quality is nice

Usage query

Hi All,
Just wondered if anybody is seeing really poor battery life on their S4?
Granted, this is the first charge and I know Android devices tend to need a couple to settle in but my battery seems to be draining like God knows what.
I came from a HTC One which was pretty poor - but the S4 battery just seems to be pouring battery juice out. I'm using the I9505 on EE in the UK. I've been on wifi the entire time, though with a very low signal.
Don't know what Samsung Link is but that seems to be having a particular impact. I wonder if I have a fault? I assume Google Services is Gmail etc - although I thought that would show up as Google Sync or something.
I do have most of the gimmicky features disabled - other than the one where I can wave my hand over the lockscreen to see what notifications I have. Power saving mode is enabled and screen is on auto with the maximum set to a fairly low level.
Would be grateful for your thoughts.
Thanks
First thing is you have a truly awful network signal.
Its probably fine. I let my phones die 3 times when I get them , sometimes they sit at 1% for 2 hours or more, so that will give the phone a better estimation of its battery usage and such.
Thanks folks.
Yes, the signal is bad but the drain was the same at home where I had a full signal and wifi connected.
Do you know how to disable Samsung Link or this Google Services thing?
Cheers
Had mine run GLBenchmark when I was laying down in bed. Found it still on around 7 hours later, the screen still on (after I realized I fell asleep), and was around 10%.
Again, that's with the screen on all 7 hours.

From screenshots you can clearly see that Goggle Services and Samsung Link are eating your battery...
Keep AutoSync and Google Now - OFF
My phone have great battery life, lost 12% within 4hrs, 1hr screen ON, brightness up to 50%, WiFi ON all the time, average reception...
Google Services used only 2% and is on the bottom of the list, NO sign of Samsung Link on my stats so you must have some apps running in background...

Forgive me for being stupid, but turning auto sync off stops my Gmail getting push and also the calendar syncing, doesn't it? There no way around that?
Google Now was already off. I only sync Google Mail, Calendar, Chrome and nothing else. All the others are left unticked.
I can't figure a way of turning that Samsung Link thing off - there is no option in the settings.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

[Q] Another battery thread but I am desperate

Hey guys and please dont crucify me. I know there's a ton of other battery issue threads on this forum and on many others but I cant find the right one. I have looked up each and every one of them, about mediaserver draining the battery about the android system and so on. I have done everything each thread said to, downloaded greenify and hibernated most active apps, disabled and froze certain bloatware with titanium backup pro and so many other things. And I think that the battery would be supposed to perform at its best right now. I am not a very heavy user, I just use my phone for music, calls, a little gaming and the occasional facebook/messenger/browser session with either 4G or WiFi. I have everything everyone ever said turned off. Things like auto backup of Google+ and all location services and auto sync. Screen is constantly at 65% brightness. To further prove my point, at this point in this post which took me like 3 minutes to write, my battery has lost 3 percent. I can leave the phone unplugged all night at 100% and when I wake up it will be at 95% but the moment I pick it up and start playing some music or some games the battery goes down really fast. I can even compare it to the battery of my old Xperia S after a year and a half use which was like 7 hours altogether. Battery stats say that mediaserver takes up 20ish% battery and Android system goes over 40%. I really don't know what to do. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, George.
you should look at the time it depletes when screen on, if its below 5 hours from 100% downward then its not good. I have noticed the battery still charges past 100%. So leave it an hour after it reaches 100%. I would also recommend using the charger that came with phone. No usb charging for these tests. Dont use phone while charging either.
Also freezing\debloating can be adverse, at least thats my experience on battery life. So I recommend going back to stock full clean with factory resets.
No recovering of apps or app data for these tests. No contamination so to speak.
Also lg roms allow you to switch off services via taskmanager settings, in settings app you can disable what you dont want to use. No need for debloating\freezing etc.
Switch off location settings, gps and bluetooth for this test. Search for carrier iq on lg g2 forum and how to disable it via settings. Switch of cloud storage(dropbox/box etc) and lg backup stuff. Only google accounts, wifi and mobile networks.
Now for the screen on time test, just use browsing apps. No games or music\movies.
Your screen on time should be 6 hours approximately. From 100 to 0. It can be 5-6 hours. If its below 5 then its not good. this is with good network coverage btw.
thats what I would do

Yes I have tried all of the above. Only thing that sticks out is something called 1013 which keeps running and waking my phone but I think it's something about the sound. Next is Android System with many wakelocks and as I said with 30+ % battery consumption. Everything location-wise is off. Actually everything is off. Every setting. Things go to hell when I open 4G or WiFi. Also I have the international model so I don't think there's carrier IQ in my device, or maybe I didn't find it in an app suggested by someone here for that purpose. System Tweaks I think it was.
Could you post a screen shot?

I've had android 4x do this on multiple devices, multiple roms for no apparent reason. Wipe it and start over. Wipe everything. Especially directories with any form of music, sound files, videos... ( Use LG Flash Tool and go back to stock 4.2 for example will do just that )
So the OTA came over to my country and now it seems like BBS and WLD are broken. Can't really do anything to show you the more complex battery stats and can't really say that the battery has improved. Reducing the brightness did have some effect but I am not really fond of having it at such low values. Anything else I can do to minimize the Android System battery consumption? Its bigger than what the screen is using, even when it was at 70% brightness.
Sad to say my first LG G2 just got replaced today & am now running into this problem with the 2nd phone. Its literally night and day battery life performance between both phones.
First phone had 0 issues and by now I'd still have battery % in the 90s. New phone is sitting @ 63% after 3 hours of use (setting up phone, few reboots here there....just factory resetted for the 2nd time to try and clear this etc)
Culprits are:
Google Services
Android Core Apps
Media Server
System UI
Both phones are: 4.2.2
build: JDQ39B
Software: D80110c
brightness (which never was an issue)= 45%
O.P,
has your situation improved or worsened since you've encountered this problem? I'm thinking about sending my replacement back for another replacement

I can now say that the battery life of my phone has improved. But sadlyf the problem was probably some corrupt mp3 files that I moved directly from my old device which forced the mediaserver service to run constantly and thus the android system. :/ I still can say that I think it drains a bit fast when I use it for browsing, Facebook, games and stuff but at least when I check the battery consumption, the only things stated there that make a difference are the screen at ~30-35% and the game which I was playing or for example Chrome. It finally feels like that whatever I use drains the battery and not something else in the background but I don't have that good of an impression for the 3000mAh "beast" battery of the G2. Awesome phone though.

I ended up returning my replacement phone and am back on my original G2 until I can get a proper replacement. I can tell you, the G2 does have an awesome battery life if you get a good phone out the box.
The differences between my first G2 and the 2nd one tmobile sent me are night and day. Get a replacement phone while you still have time.
Should have my new one next week. Just hope it's exactly like my first one.
Ex....been using it all day..I mean heavy usage...and in still @ 75%..and the phone is cool to the touch
The replacement g2 would [email protected] 36-37% by now and running hot

You're on 4.2.2, not 4.4.2 when you have the 1013, is that correct?
Try rebooting when the volume is on, rather than rebooting in quiet/vibrate mode.

The OTA came to my country some days ago. Still the battery feels kind of small. Is it normal to lose 1% every ~1-2 minutes on 4G browsing? With nothing else on. No gps no G+ backup no anything.

[Q] Android Wear App draning battery

Ever since I downloaded the app and paired my phone with my LG G Watch, I went from a full day's use to only 6 hours on my Oppo Find 7a. Its really frustrating. Tried resetting, redownloading and reinstalling to no avail. My phone even heats up now (something it doesn't normally do). I know with bluetooth and constant connection with the watch, battery life will take a hit but never expected it to be this much. Any one else?

As you said, bluetooth and constant connection would drain the battery life...

bluetooth's problem
Oppo Find 7a must be defective, bluetooth takes very little battery life. I am thinking up until you had a bluetooth device you never turned it on, you finally turn it on and find the phone is defective.
My Note 3, I never turn off bluetooth off and I can not notice any battery drain.
Looked at the screen shop Android Wear is in some sort of wake lock.
Mine Android Wear is not even listed see Bluetooth at 3% but no Android wear.
You have some utility that maybe cause issue? I never use a battery conserving app they do not work.
or the device which I do not know may not be using 4.4?

Is there an easier way of showing bluetooth earbuds battery?

Hi, I have a Samsung S10 Plus running android 10, I have recently got some MPOW M9 ear buds and i am finding the only way i can see the battery remaining is by going to the drop down notifications, then going to devices and seeing it in there, only problem is it only seems to show the battery sometimes, this morning i went out with my buds fully charged and at that time the battery was showing fine, i only had them on for about 1 hour but when i put them back on at lunch time and also on the way home this evening, neither time did it show battery, it just showed 'playing' but no display of battery.
I am just wondering if there’s any easier way of seeing the battery without having to go into a few menu's to see it?
And also why the battery shows sometimes and not others?
I use PowerAmp Pro, i am not sure if there’s a feature in that to show remaining battery, i haven’t seen it if there is?
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
James.
