I ordered mine on June 30th and it was supposed to ship July 28th.
Two days ago I found myself on amazon looking for accessories and saw they were selling the phone for $149.99 and it was in stock.
Needless to say I ordered the phone from amazon and it should be here on tuesday, and i saved about 100 dollars since there was no tax ordering it through amazon and it was 50 dollars cheaper. Also I don't have to deal with any rebate crap.
The only problem I've encountered so far is verizon is giving me some bs about trying to cancel my order. They're efficient when it comes to take your money, but seem to have a hard time trying to figure out how to give it back. Everything should work out fine though.
Just putting this out there for others who are waiting on their phone.
Yeah, I saw that article on DroidLife this morning. I thought about doing that as well, but it's only $149 for new customers, and $199 for renewals. With my $50 New Every Two discount, it brought my total up to $180 after tax, so I can't justify paying more and jumping through hoops to cancel with VZW just to get the phone a little earlier. 7/26/10 sure can't come quick enough though, that's for sure.
But in the future, I'll definitely keep an eye out for Amazon, especially since the NET discount is now about half as much. Any word on whether or not you can use Amazon or similar for the 1-year Early Upgrade?
Please can people put links with prices for us international customers?

Yes, you can trust Mobilecityonline.com. I've purchased a few things from them and they're very reliable.
Thanks for the answer, unfortunately mobile city sends online to USA and Canada, Cellhut.com also has a unlocked version for pre-order, for $549, and they send to Brazil, are they reliable?
i would never trust any shipment to venezuela directly, so i use a courier in miami that actually sends the stuff down here. i am suru brazil must have lots of couriers as well
looks like walmart will be a good place to get it. looking forward to it.
BTW, some of the online stores will not sell the phone to you if you are not an AT&T customer. The off-contract price is only for AT&T customers who do not want to sign a new contract.
If you do not happen to be an AT&T customer, you will need to pay a full price ($599 @ Amazon or BB, $575 at the AT&T store). This is what I was told at one BB and two AT&T stores. If you happen to be lucky, some clueless sales person may sell you one at no-contract price even if you are not an AT&T customer.
from what i have searched all the links i have posted allow you to buy without being an att customer.

The one that I tried (letstalk.com) does not allow you to do that. I even tried their CS department and was told I needed to have an AT&T account to get the off-contract pricing. Wal-mart was the same.
Additionally, both Cells4u and Amazon are now showing a back-ordered status. Mobilecityonline and cellhut do not have any stock as yet nor do they know when they will be getting any either. I've talked to Expansys and they have no idea when they will have them in stock either.
before posting the link i just chose existing att customer to get the off contract price and continued, it asked for my credit card and address and i stopped there. i guess i will have to wait for mobilecityonline
Actually, after you enter your CC details, it then asks you for your social security number and current ATT phone number
ouch... and on top of that they will be going the wirefly route and stop selling at&t phones starting march 8.
this sucks
Cellhut - no. Two more sources
I would not trust cellhut. Their ratings (if you google for that) are abysmal.
I preordered from negrielectronics [dot] com/motorola-atrix-4g-black-unlocked.html - they claim availability end of this month, and deliver internationally. They seem to have good reseller ratings. It is a bit pricey at $686.50, though. The upside is it should be unlocked. The downside was that the "free delivery" does not seem to apply, according to my Google Checkout. Though they do inform you that preorder prices may not be final, and the final total may be lower than what they initially pre-charged, so I guess it's wait and see for me.
One more option would be Expansys - for Singapore: www [dot] expansys [dot] com [dot] sg/motorola-atrix-207852/ (SG $819.99, about US$640), they have other country websites too (just choose country on the top, you have to search for the phone again in this case). It is listed now with a price, but not available for preorder (at least for Singapore). Projected availability is 25 July, quite far away.
I prefer to buy it unlocked in the first place, if I can.
There are a couple of listings on ebay as well, but don't expect anything below US$ 700. And expect a couple of not-so-trustworthy people there as well.
Sorry - new user, not able to post links yet.
i knew about those two sites (looked them through froogle) but didn't post them because they were so expensive. too bad amazon is so expensive and backordered too. it's basically the only way i can buy (long story, our country caps our online purchases in usd at 400$ per year so i need two credit cards and amazon is the only place that allows me to buy a gift certificate and apply to my account)
letstalk.com has a 5% off coupon (up to $25 savings): LTCART5 (expires on feb 28)
I ordered mine on letstalk.com with the coupon, here is the invoice details:
Product Description Price Discount Qty Subtotal
Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T) $499.99 1 $499.99
Coupon: 5% off the shopping cart up to $25 (-$25.00) (-$25.00)
Shipping: Standard $0.00 $0.00
Tax: CA $39.19
Total to be charged: $514.18
I think this is the cheapest online price now ($475.99)...
They charge sales tax for CA and TX customers...not sure about other states...
I asked wirefly if they are going to sell the atrix...but they said no (most likely because they will drop AT&T sales in March...)
hope this helps

But if you buy it online from Costco.com, you get free shipping and free gel case
http://androidcommunity.com/motorola-xoom-wifi-589-at-costco-with-free-gel-case-free-shipping-20110317/
but you have to wait a few days more. April 1st instead of March 27th.
Returning my 3G Xoom to Cosco this weekend and getting the Wifi version. Yay
"Pre-order now and it will begin shipping April 1, 2011."
That's kinda stupid....
Would be nice if they offered the gel case in store too...
Mine was sent to fulfillment already, wonder what will happen?

They very well might have the same deal in the store, if they stock it there. We'll have to wait until 3/27 to see for sure, unless somebody leaks the sales sheet like they did prior to the 3G's launch.

Just did this yesterday. The guy at the Verizon sales booth, who was the same guy that originally sold it to me, was like "oh no, you don't like the Xoom?"
I told him about the upcoming wifi version, and even he agreed that what I was doing was a good idea.
it has been proven that lack of availability is not an issue (meaning they are not flying of the shelf's) so why pre-order when i can walk to a Cotsco and buy and there wont even be a line
I just preordered through amazon prime and got free 2 day shipping and didn't pay tax. Hopefully I'll have it by the 28th.

+1.. I thought about the Costco route, but with tax the total would be more (even including the 'value' of the gel case - which I wouldn't use anyways). At least with Amazon it's $599 OTD.

To those who pre-ordered on Amazon, would you mind checking your order information in the Amazon app (Android or iPhone).
I pre-ordered the wifi-only Xoom as soon as it went up on Amazon, and when I check my order information on the Amazon app (not the main website) there is a date under the "Two-Day Shipping" that says "April 29, 2011", above "Ship my items as they become available."
I sincerely hope that is not how long it is going to take before they can fulfill the order and it's just some oddball date that is showing up on my order info.
This date, nor any date at all, shows up on the regular Amazon website when I go view my open order.

Amazon picks a random date when they don't list the real launch date on the main page, I wouldn't worry about it. You'll get an email a week before with the real ship date. I pre-order games all the time on Amazon and this always happens.
Reassuring. Thank you

I see a lot of people in the UK ordering the Note from the german amazon site, what places are people in the United States ordering the phone from and for what price? I wanted the nexus prime but this looks like it may be an overall better device, not to mention its available now and has a sd card slot which I wanted.
Negri Electronics, ~$800 US with 2nd day shipping and $35 off promo cert.
I initially wanted a prime too, but it was more for the hardware than the software (which the Note will get eventually), and the note's got better goods.
I'm always wary of ordering from Negri, plemix..etc. I just wait for it to get to Amazon.com or Newegg.com at least they have return policies on the devices. If you order from one of those NY web retailers your pretty much SOL on returns.
looks like its on backorder on negri, I thought I saw people paying $700 for the phone? I would love for it to show up on amazon.com
Handtec, paid $723, they shipped it overnight

Negri has a return policy right on their website...

I love Negri...bought 3 high end phones from them over the last 3 years. Not a single problem with returns, etc. Sorry I waited a day late to get my order in.
I found 2 places locally (Chicago area) who "said" they are getting them by Friday...we'll see!
I just bought through handtec @ $776 Canadian. US and Canadian dollars are pretty close right now, might be like $769 USD. 2-4 day shipping with Fedex to North America. They are getting more stock and shipping Friday the 4th, apparently.
Unlocked Mobiles.com
I just ordered mine last Friday, Oct 28th from Unlocked Mobiles.com and they shipped the same day. Total Cost £504.15 = $807.72! Very good about tracking and notification. Tracking shows my phone in New York, I should have it by Friday this week!
I ordered from Negri on Monday, its suppose to be in texas tomorrow. But the guy stated it was shipped Tuesday but did not have tracking number. But I kept asking and it looks like he was on back order but shipped today for tomorrow delivery. Even though I paid for 2 day delivery so he kept to his promise of the date for delivery.
Spent more than I wanted but thats fine if shows up. I had previously ordered with Expansys and they played a lot of games with my order so I canceled with them and went to Negri. But I just got an email from Expansys stating they have them in stock ready to ship. But somehow I do not believe them. There were others that received units from them. Use at your own risk.
Negri seems to be on the up and up, As well it seems there is one person that I kept dealing with on chat and email. So it might be a single guy running the site. So far he has kept to his promise and that means a lot when trusting a unknown website.

They have return policies, that said I've never used them before, so I've never had to return anything to them. Generally I'd agree with you, the big web stores feel better, but lots of people here have used negri before with positive feedback.

Hello,
Given the popularity of the mix, some sellers are using dodgy sales tactics. The latest is geekbuying and their new "stock sale" price that lets you jump the preorder list. Ibuygou claims stock ships in order of preordering, as I assume most sites do.
If you have a preorder with a store, and are waiting, please post where you ordered from, and the date of order.
If you receive your mi mix, please post what day you ordered it on, so we have an idea of their backorder "flow".
Also if you receive your mi mix, please note anything wierd about it (i.e. no case, modified rom, etc)
(Don't post the actual order number - that's not important anyway). Also, don't post from non-preorder sales, i.e. ebay.
If done right, this thread can help verify whether sellers are skipping preorders, and also help new buyers
estimate when they can get their order from various sellers.
I have two preorders,
one with geekbuying on 11/4
one with ibuygou on 10/30
Neither received yet. I'm a bit worried about the ibuygou one as they bumped up the price after I ordered, from $670 to $750.
Ordered 6/256 from https://www.cect-shop.com/en on 11/16 and received it on 11/23.
Ordered the mix 6/256gb on chinadroid.fr on 11/25 (today)
FYI, I have ordered the phone from a 3rd party and have canceled both orders.
i preordered the mi mix from cect shop the 256gb version on Nov 11th it was to ship on Nov 13.
On Nov 13 they sent a letter saying they would ship at the end of the month of Nov or early Dec when they got more stock OR they would ship it now for 929 euros.
today I emailed them saying if they were still going to ship at the end of the month as they stated and this is what they say:
"we check the market prices every day, as soon as the price drops enough we will send it out.
At the moment the phones are quiet a bit to expensive at the market, but When the price drops more like this we can send it soon. "
so i would say there is little/no chance of them honoring the price and sending it unless you fork over extra money. they are basically holding us the phones ransom

Unfortunately, ibuygou is doing the same as some other sites (like geekbuying).
My rough understanding from them is that their supplier is jacking up the price (like everyone else).
As a result they (kind of) listed the item lower than they wanted to.
So basically you have two choices:
1) Wait for the price of the phone to drop
2) Offer to pay the higher price. (talk to sales support)
It sucks. Doesn't Xiaomi have this 'flash sale' thing a lot? It feels like everyone is caught off guard this time,
possibly due to the really really reduced production rate of the MIX.
- Frank
After a long e-mail chain with ibuygou support, they noted that they don't order phones from Xiaomi.
They get them from their suppliers. And their suppliers have jacked up their prices.
If read between the lines of the mails, it comes down to this: They can't afford to stock the phone if they have to then sell the phone at a loss. (loss meaning preorder prices). I came to this realization then: As a business, it then makes more sense to just never stock the phone and tell everyone "We don't have any in stock." Because why would they? To lose money?
After some back and forth, I saw there were really only three choices:
1) Wait until the price drops and they can afford to stock the phone. (Will this ever happen? Who knows?)
2) Cancel my order and probably pay more than $750 on ebay or wherever.
3) Accept an offer to pay more - the current $750 sale price. They don't lose money. I get my phone.
I took #3. It's almost a no brainer at this point. After several days, it shipped.
What I'm now extremely curious about is - does this happen with every Xiaomi phone? Doesn't every Xiaomi phone do limited run flash sales? Or is it just due to the MIX being unique and a very limited production run?
I was originally very angry with Geekbuying when I saw their "stock sale" pricing. But I kind of sympathize with them now. I think they're a victim as much as we are.

"check with us again next week to see if we can send your preorder"
all they do is monitor the market and determine if they can sell - well why did they offer the preorder price to begin with then? it is a joke.
