For those waiting for their DI - Droid Incredible General

I ordered mine on June 30th and it was supposed to ship July 28th.
Two days ago I found myself on amazon looking for accessories and saw they were selling the phone for $149.99 and it was in stock.
Needless to say I ordered the phone from amazon and it should be here on tuesday, and i saved about 100 dollars since there was no tax ordering it through amazon and it was 50 dollars cheaper. Also I don't have to deal with any rebate crap.
The only problem I've encountered so far is verizon is giving me some bs about trying to cancel my order. They're efficient when it comes to take your money, but seem to have a hard time trying to figure out how to give it back. Everything should work out fine though.
Just putting this out there for others who are waiting on their phone.

Yeah, I saw that article on DroidLife this morning. I thought about doing that as well, but it's only $149 for new customers, and $199 for renewals. With my $50 New Every Two discount, it brought my total up to $180 after tax, so I can't justify paying more and jumping through hoops to cancel with VZW just to get the phone a little earlier. 7/26/10 sure can't come quick enough though, that's for sure.
But in the future, I'll definitely keep an eye out for Amazon, especially since the NET discount is now about half as much. Any word on whether or not you can use Amazon or similar for the 1-year Early Upgrade?

Evo 4G off contract price?

I see $450 being thrown about but come on, that's too good to be true. I called Best Buy and was quoted $700.
sprint email
the sprint email i received said $499 was the price...direct from sprint...see my post under evo 4g launch event...i just left best buy and they told me they have nothing on the pricing yet!! (even though i was going to pre-order!!...they said it is whatever the rebate price from sprint ($199))

actually retail$450.$150 instant discount,u pay $300 up front then u get back $100 mail in rebate that leaves to $199 with new activation.
Wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of misinformation floating out there, but I called a Sprint Store directly and they informed me the retail price is $449. He had to put me on hold to call corporate. $450 is ridiculous for something like this, and I still don't quite believe it.
What sucks even more is my 30 day window closes on June 2nd!! But if I can sell a brand new hero for $200 I won't mind fronting the other $250.
When the EVO was announced at CTIA I immediately signed up for news updates at the Sprint EVO site. Yesterday I received a promotional email FROM SPRINT that says "...$449.99 - $150.00 (two-year activation) - $100.00 (mail-in rebate) = $199.99 (final price).". I literally just now copy and pasted that quote from the email!
So, will Best Buy offer it at the same price or not? I'm ashamed to say, when I was there pre-ordering it this afternoon, I was assured that pre-orders were for unsubsidized phones as well as new service (or upgrades) but I forgot to ask what the non-discount price was because I assumed it was the same. Now I'm wondering...
I just pre-ordered my Evo at BestBuy today and didn't even think to ask what retail was. I just assumed it was the $450 like Sprint said.
Sure hope I'm right. I thought it was too good to be true as well but coming out of Sprint's mouth it was hard not to pay full price.
I preordered at bestbuy too.
occasionally they mess up and give me the lower out of contract price but either way...I'm buying this phone!
Return it

I have heard that what people are doing in a situation like yours, is that they are just going to return it, get another phone (like the moment or something) and then return it again for the EVO. Sure you'll have to pay restocking fees, but it will cost less then selling your Hero.
449 is probably the starting price based on signing a 2 year contract. It will likely be higher if you are going with a non-contract outright purchase. Our prices at The Shack work that way at least.
With Sprint from the past, whatever the price is before they apply the discount for new service, new line, or upgrade is usually what the price of the phone is. It is a little hard to believe this amazing phone is $450 but I've noticed one thing android phones tend to be cheaper than their WM counterparts, not always but usually. With that said I'm sure Sprints plan is to keep as many customers as possible as well as get more with this phone and they can always make it back with the cost of the plan. I also went to pre-order mines from best buy today but before I commit to it I wanted to make sure what the unsubsidized price would be but unfortunately the guy helping didn't know. He just said it would probably be about 600-700. The email as stated though says $450 so before I committed I wanted to find out what the real price will be before I commit to a higher price than what Sprint is actually selling for since I just used my upgrade in January for the Hero so I have to wait until next January. I have had the experience depending on who you deal with that even if you aren't eligble for an upgrade they would still sell you the phone at the upgrade price. Also a post above stated that they were going to get the 100 rebate still, is that even possible without it being a new activation or upgrade or were they just helping you out?
Chatted with Sprint rep today via website and confirmed...
...that the off-contract price is $449. If this turns out to be true...that's FU*KING GREAT!!! I really hope this phone ends up being the real deal. This could be an all-out effort from Sprint to extend what potentially is the hottest phone of 2010 to anyone who's interested at great price whether new customer or otherwise. Gain new customers and stop the bleeding of existing ones...makes sense.
there also seems to be a very gradual shift away from outrageous off-contract prices (FTC pressure maybe?)... nokia smartphones have been reasonably priced off contract (gsm models anyway) for some time now, and while 450 is a bit low it doesn't seem impossible.
Yeah, I'm going back to BestBuy today to cancel my preorder. Their are just too many rumors of BB charging $600+. Hopefully I will have luck on my side on June 4 when I go to the Sprint store to buy one.
$599 off contract confirmed at BB.$450 at Sprint. My Sprint store isn't doing preorders.. looks like I'll be taking the fourth off from work.

$450 from Sprint directly. Periord. End of story. Other retailers such as Best Buy and RadioShack have the ability to raise the price if they want, and it has been confirmed that Best Buy will be gouging it to $600. It has been reported that RadioShack will only charge the standard $450.
Can anyone confirm the 450 in writing from a sprint store after you paid for a pre-order?
I will go to 20 sprint stores in my area if one will do that for me.
THANKS!!

Sprint sent out the announcement email with the $450 price, and many people have had them confirm it via support.

Yeah, I've printed a copy of that announcement from a link someone posted to be safe but what I'm most concerned with is trying to get a pre-order confirmed at that price. I don't want to have to wake up crazy early and then hope that they don't try to screw me that morning of by telling me they are only selling to upgrade customers since those are the people they make money off of. That could very well happen, that's exactly why I want to pre-order.
Appears that corp stores are NOT taking pre-orders. If anyone finds out different please post about your story.
Thanks
Will bb price match?

So who has the best preorder deal.

I just called my Radio Shack and they said they stopped taking orders yesterday. Do you think that is for every reseller. A girl here at work said she pre-ordered hers at a kiosk in Sam's club. She bought a 50 dollar gift card and then has to pay 150 the day of pickup. Plus Sprint is supposed to give a 70 dollar credit on her bill. I don't know what that is for but they seem to think you get that every time you re-up your contract.
So other than Sam's and the Shack are there any other stores I should check?
Thanks,
Phil
It might be worth your time to check out
www dot evpdiscount dot com .
It is a division of Sprint (or perhaps a third-party company???) that offers discounts ranging from 5% to 25% or so off your monthly bill. The discount is determined by who your employer is. The downside is your employer may not be a member. Mine was not, but I managed to get it set up and was able to pre-order through EVP. There is no cost or obligation to your employer. Also, the EVP price for the EVO itself is only $174.99, so that will save you a few bucks as well.
however, with that website you have to wait for your rebate (the $100 and the $25..), where best buy and radio shack you don't have to wait for the rebate
Looks like I'll have to wait on the rebate. I went ahead and ordered it via the EVP. Hopefully it ships on the 4th and I can get it early in the following week. The RS guy said their promotion ended yesterday so I figured I just needed to get my name on a list somewhere.

That's a good point. I forgot to mention that. However, if you have a business account, they employ something called "flat rate pricing," which means an instant rebate. I was fortunate enough to be porting over a business line, so the entire up front cost will only be $174.99 plus tax. They also throw in free overnight shipping AND free activation.

I specifically asked if it would be shipped on the 4th and received a few days after that and the response I received from the EVP representative was that they usually receive units early and will ship them out as soon as they come in. He also mentioned that it is more likely that EVP customers would get them earlier than the 4th rather than later.
I'm crossing my fingers, hoping desperately that he's correct. Time will tell, but if it get's here ON the 4th, I am one happy camper. Having to wait the extra weekend would be torture...
Sweet, I never thought about Radioshack before. I've been on a "5 days after the 4th" list for the Evo at Best Buy, and I just called RS and they confirmed that they'll have spare units first come first serve at 6AM. :-D I'm not sure if I should take my name off the BB list now or wait to see how RS plays through.
I just ordered mine from sprint for $299 with 28% off full the phone plan(Woot love my work). She said 299.99 with $100 off mail in rebate but after i gave her my work info she said they would do it for $250 with $100 mail in rebate. They will have it delivered on the 4th in the am. So glad to get this over my Nexus One with ****ty t-mobile.
P.S I just read that if you order from sprint they wont ship it till jun 4th. I just called and thats true. I canceled my order
Edit: Word I just got one for $300 from local guy that went to Google I/O. He wanted $600 but money talks and bull **** walks.
I preordered mine from a local store... celltekWireless. They've got a pre-order site set up... sort of.

Just send your name and phone number and a rep will get back to you to confirm your request to pre-order one.

They are all shipping or coming out on the 4th. If I get it Monday or Tuesday I'll be OK. IT is not like everyone else will be ranked up and have the better sniper rifle.

Lower Price for T-Mobile HD2

I was in a Wal-mart store yesterday and saw the HD2 for sale at $48.88 with a 2-year plan. And I thought I got a great deal when I got mine online from Wal-mart a couple of weeks ago for $79.99. Oh well.
What this tells me is that the HD2 is not selling well. I have not checked at any T-Mobile stores, so I don't know if they are still holding to the $199 price for a 2-year plan. I doubt they will be able to keep it up much longer with the new Samsung phone coming out, and other phones coming out as well.
At the last time I check they are still holding to the $199 price.
You can almost always get the phone cheaper if you use Amazon or Wirefly.
I am one of the folks who considered buying one after seeing the sale on TMOUS's site for 149 after $50 mail in rebate-which made me consider to check elsewere for sales...Radioshack was already sold out, and Walmart had the $48.88 price for a renewal...I am now a happy owner of an HD2!
I was going to buy it anyway, just a matter of when I had the money and willingness to wait for a back to school sale. If anything, the sales are to clear way for the WM7 phones on the way...but I wanted WM6.5 anyway.

Price Dropping on Amazon

I don't get paid until the 2nd. That is when I'll get my Epic. Will the price drop any more than 199.99 you guys think? The trend of the other 2 Galaxies on the other carriers have gone down to 1 cent.
If I buy from Amazon, and it goes down in price within a few days or a week, will Amazon honor a price adjustment? Because if they didn't, can't I just get a refund and then order it again, but just to save the trouble, they will give me a "price adjustment" like any other store, right? Anyone familiar with Amazon return policy? I just want to know, I'll probably research it myself, but its almost certain I'll buy from Amazon, since its the lowest price around.
Also, do they charge the tax? At the Sprint store they charge you the tax of the original price of $500, can I avoid the tax or just be taxed off the 199.99 price? Anyone familiar with purchasing on Amazon please help me with these questions, thanks, and hope all you early birds come on here to notify us of any major issues, etc.
As you can tell, I'm very tight on money, but I can afford the monthly cost of owning the Epic, are there any other ways to save money? One of the 3rd party local Sprint stores told me they can get me 25% off my bill every month for the duration of my contract. How do they do it? Is it a PROMO code they run into the system when I go through them? Is it possible to get this promotion myself through Amazon? Anyone know? Thanks.
Have a good weekend
The price might drop after the release. However since the epic appears to be shipping a few weeks after release I suspect the price won't drop for at least a month or 2. Even if it did, you cannot return and rebuy the phone. This is because if you returned the phone you would need to return it, cancel your sprint contract, and then restart. However there is a 90 day waiting period after canceling before you would be eligible for the new contract phone prices.
As for tax, they don't seem to charge it in many states. However phones may be different. I am not 100% sure on this.
Also I don't know what 25% discount they were refering to for you. Most of those are employer discounts. e.g. teachers get 15% off monthly, sears employees get 25% off, etc. If you are a student you can get 15 or 25% off through studentrate.com and they are still taking phone preorders and though the up front cost isn't amazing, the overall price is $175 for the phone and you get a free car charger or invisible shield I think.
so are you saying if i order thru amazon they won't ship it to me RIGHT AWAY?! Oh gosh, thats a bummer, you're saying I have to wait a few weeks? What about studentrate.com? Are they shipping right away once it hits the 31st??

This is false, there is a zero day policy for returning equipt dropping a line and opening up a new line with the same phone I did it about 3 weeks after I got my Evo and got another Evo from a different store since the manager at a Shack wanted to be a douche and not swap out my Evo when it clearly had screen separation issues. I cancelled the whole darn thing and there was nothing he could do about it then got my money back went into a different store and got a new Evo and another line activated at full discount.

That's odd. Entropism I believe, who claims to have been a sprint repair technician and is now a sprint sales consultant said there is a 90 day wait, and the wait it tied to your SSN for when they do a credit check, so if you had a contract with sprint and cancelled it, you'd have to wait 90 days for the full new customer discount. Oh well, the internet is full is misinformation.

Maybe that only applies to people who have been with sprint 30 days or longer. I don't think they would refuse someone who is brand new because they cancelled their initial contract for whatever reason.
Sent from a FRESH EVO using xda app
When I cancelled my Evo in mid-July, I told the Sprint representative handling the cancellation that I was going to wait for the Epic, and specifically asked if the cancellation would be held against me, and he said not at all.
I guess I'll find out for sure on Tuesday!
My guess is that if there is such a rule, it applies to cancellations outside of 30 days while on contract, and perhaps to cancellations off contract as well. In either case, it would appear that the way to get around that is to open the new line first, then cancel the old one. Surely they can't retroactively change the price of the device once you've purchased it, right!

Do NOT pre-order from Sprint "telesales"

So I called to cancel my pre-order from the Sprint website since there are other retailers out there who are offering sweeter deals. Sprint has been unable to cancel the order (merely an hour after I placed the order) and are now telling me I am stuck.
I'm fairly surprised that in this day and age customers cannot cancel an order for an item that supposedly is weeks/months away from shipping.
So the overwhelming lesson here is - don't order anything from Sprint. That was the worst buying experience I think I have ever had.
Well, there's United airlines but they are in a class of fail all by themselves.

I just ordered for wirefly and save $50, F*ck Sprint!
i had this issue when the OG evo came out. I pre ordered it from sprint the day of pre orders. 2 days later they announced that best buy was getting the white evo.
I right away tried canceling my evo pro order from sprint and they wouldnt let me. I waited about 2 weeks and called back and canceled it with no problem.
I think you should wait a few days then call them again to cancel the pre order. I think at 1st its so crazy with pre orders and stuff so give them a break.
I called to cancel a few hours after my order. Had to go through 3 people but he finally did it. Got a lot of "Well we will you have see if that can be canceled" blah blah. They had no problem charging my cc the second I clicked to preorder for an item not yet available, how is canceling that so hard? Anyway, got it cancelled and ordered though wirefly with cheaper/better insurance. Sadly I forgot to go through fatwallet for cash back.
what was the total cost of the wirefly pre order???
my order from sprint came out to be 235.74
maybe i should cancel my sprint pre order and get it from wirefly. do they ship the day it comes out???
I preordered online and then found the Wirefly deal.
Had to call in but was able to cancel the order and get my eligibility status reset and order from Wirefly, which went flawlessly and ended up being closer to $75 cheaper as Wirefly didn't charge taxes to my area.
Sprint representative did say my money would be tied up for about 10 days before being credited back. He also mentioned that there was no way they could match the price even though I didn't even mention anything about that.
It wasn't a difficult process for me at all. Hopefully Wirefly will have the phone to me within a reasonable timeframe around the 18th. I don't mind missing it for a few days if it saved me $75.

Wow... Does that mean they will charge your card when you receive the phone? And the phone will ultimately cost $100? If so then sweet... Glad I didn't jump on the Sprint preorder today... thanks guys!
unfortunately I jumped on the Sprint pre-order and now they refuse to cancel my order. I called 3 times and escalated and was told order is too far along on their process and cannot be cancelled, even though they said it hasn't shipped nor do they know when it will. I'm so pissed at them, I know its B.S excuse not to cancel my order. in any event I will wait get the phone and then return, this way it will cost them even more money for shipping and return, and then buy from somewhere else. I told them they prefer to do that than cancel order and they didn't care.....and they wonder why companies loose money
Wirefly is also giving a good price on pre-oders $149 ( $50 off) and Amazon is giving $50 off as well.
