Some days ago my Yota started to restart on its own. It happens once a day usually.
The biggest problem i noticed is that on the e ink screen now a white row is present and does not refresh anytime.
Firmware is 1.87a eu, original, not rooted. Anyone has experienced it? I hope there is a fix cause I do not have time to go to a support center and leave phone there to get fixed.
Cheers

I bought my Yota about 2 weeks ago and firstly epd was completely fine then I noticed horizontal blank stripe few pixels wide that does not refresh. Then another one appeared, this time vertical and only 1px wide. Today I got third (next to the 2nd, also vertical).
I don't know the origin of those, as had 2 ebook readers before and never experienced such a thing. Wonder if it's a software issue or some failure with the device. Tried to Google it but it looks like it's not a common problem. Thinking of flashing the 1.99 rom - maybe it will help.

I am sure that this is a hardware problem. I have my third Yotaphone now (because I love the concept). One I got replaced because of the EPD showed some lines. Another one has a fine vertical line, another one a fine horizontal. They are on different software releases. one on Middle East, one on European SW. No difference. The places are very different. So, a hardware issue.

Hi! Yesterday I have got the same thing - dead horizontal stripe appeared on the e-ink screen. Please, give an answer, based on your experience - what will happen with the screen soon? Can the screen work for a long time in this condition, or is this a sigh of a soon total failure? Thanx 4 answer.

Based on my experience it should go on working as usual, but the stripe won't disappear. Speaking about it with a friend of mine, he told me that this is a common problem with all e-ink displays. So if it is still on warranty my suggestion is to send it to be fixed. If it is not, do not panic, should be fine, at least I hope. Mine goes on without any problem , exception made for the stripe.

Won't be fine, sorry to say that. There will be more and more lines until the screen will start to behave weird in total (inversion of colors, no refresh, not working yota mirror..). I'm 99% sure that's overheating problem and plan to open my Y2 to find out soon.
Had 3 other devices with eink screen before (2 nooks, 1 Motorola phone) and haven't seen this issue yet.
Better use your warranty before it is too late.
I purchased my Yotaphone 2 in June 2015, in August 2016 a horizontal line appeared about 1cm down from the top of the screen, then about a week ago a short vertical line appeared, just off centre going from the top of the screen down about 2cm. I asked yotaphone and they said to take it to their service centre but this isn't very convenient for me. I am hopeful it won't get worse! Interesting to see other's experiences, it is clearly a common problem!
<<edit>> The two dead lines are 1 pixel wide, the horizontal one is light grey in colour, the vertical one is white.
Three days passed, second line is dead.
It's about 1 mm from first one.
No warranty, unfortunately... Screen replacement costs abous 120 USD. I'm sad
Ok, so I opened my Yotaphone to find out what's causing the dead rows:

Thanks for photos! My horisontal rows are at the same place as yours. Furthermore, this situation is very and very common, many people have rows at the same positions.
If it is not hard to remove the screen, we can replace them ourselves: my idea is to order new screen from China, it costs about 60 USD there (at AliExpress).
The bad thing is that the new screen can be also defective.
Please explain how you removed the grille at the bottom of the device.
it's simply glued, all you need is to get some pincers and pull carefully. You can follow this guide:

To your mind, is it possible to change only the display without replacing the glass? Now it is very easy to buy used phone with a broken rear glass, but the working e-inc display.
the epd screen is embedded in the plastic case below the glass, if I wanted to disassemble it I'd have to rip the poor thing apart
Hello everyone,
Just to let you know that a recent french buyer (that's me) of an YD201 discovered after 3 days of use 3 lines out of order... the very same place...
I'm dealing with the seller efoxtienda.com to get a solution. I paid with Paypal in order to benefit from protection...
For now on, the lines are 1 pixel wide... so that's not a real matter... but I don't want to wait till it gets worse.
I will share the issue of the negociations.
Enjoy.
I ordered one from GearBest (Y201) and I really hope that it is without hardware issues.

Dont forget to make a video of unpacking...
Because of the EPD, my phone is getting worse:
-it very rarely refreshes itself, and if it does then looks like above..
-the battery drain is terrible (50% loss in about 2 hours, mostly screen off)
-the heat of the previously mentioned capacitors gets scary
-phone reboots itself once a while
I've decided to disconnect the EPD (almost) completely and see what happens:
Digitizer (1) and EPD (2) are disconnected now, but there's some link at (3) and can't be unplugged. Not sure what it does.
Beside physical changes, I used Titanium Backup to freeze all EPD apps I've found (altogether was 39 apps) - especially Organizer and Counters were stopping themselves just after the reboot, very annoying. Will give you info about how it works in several days, as for now the only difference is around 2sec delay* between pressing the power button and turning on/off the screen.
PS. The good news is that, now I don't care about destroying the EPD, so perhaps after new year will have some fun with capacitor replacement
(*)EDIT: It's good now, just don't freeze Back Screen Manager app
I do not understand about (3)...
How can I change the screen if (3) can not be unplugged?
PS How much time has passed since the first row appeared?

Sorry, my bad - I took another look at the Y2 disassembly video - (3) can be disconnected, although it looks like soldered to the mainboard. Didn't try.
I bought my phone in the middle of September, first line appeared few days after.

Hey all, I don't know what's causing this but since yesterday my Wizard (K-JAM) has been going crazy.
I just plugged it into my USB port a min ago to charge it (not sync) and a whole random bunch of apps opened, including IE where 'hhhhhhhhh' and 'eeeeee' were repeatedly put into the IE search box, as if the buttons were stuck (this'd happen if the keyboard was open or not)
SMS would open too, the phone panel would open and the phone would appear to be dialing random things. Including successfully dialing (by itself) "333".
The hard buttons and keyboard seem to become disabled when this happens too and will randomly start working again.
I'm running Windows Mobile 6.1 TNT Official. Has anyone else experienced this kind of stuff?
This is a real mystery and driving me nuts. Is my phone possessed?! I may try flashing with a different ROM later, although TNT *has* been working ok for the few days I've had it on here.
Ok this is really odd. I've found that when this happens and it calms down a bit (keyboard/buttons work again), I open Word Mobile and try and type.. the letters 'h' and 'e' don't work (the 2 letters that appear randomly when the phone goes crazy). I have no idea why as I can use these letters just fine when the phone's acting normal.
Right now I have Word Mobile open and the phone's typing "yyyyyyyyyyyyyy" by itself. Buttons/keyboard have stopped working but touchscreen is fine.
Gawd. :S
Edit: Wish I knew WTF was causing this. It continues even after a soft reset. This time I've rebooted it, it originally messed about but is now back to normal.
Ok, it now seems I can (temp.?) fix the hardware buttons on the front of the Wizard doing nothing by opening the keyboard and hitting something like the windows key. Then all the front buttons work again.
I notice when the buttons are disabled often hitting the middle button (inside the up/down/left/right) brings up "Align Screen" for who knows what reason.
How annoying. I'm gonna flash another ROM and see if the problems go away. (currently using latest TNT Official)
EDIT: Still some buttons (q, e, i, g, h) are no longer working. What on earth has happened here?
Right, just flashed it back down to T-Mobile 2.26 and the randomness problems seem to have gone away [EDIT: No they haven't] but I still have completly lost the use of q, e, i, g and h. I have no idea how this has happened. Last night I had a low battery (first time) and the phone started going nuts at this point, when it was under 10% charge left.
Since then it's been very random. But I charged it up overnight and the problem hasn't gone away. Some of the random stuff it was doing was typing 'hhhhh' and 'eeeeee' non-stop (2 of the buttons that no longer work) which makes me think a chipset has screwed up in some way. Keyboard backlight is on constantly. It's the sorta thing I'd expect if I dropped it in a sink of water but the phone hasn't been under any sort of shock/pressure/water/whatever since I got it last week!
I'm beyond frustrated. To top it all the MiniSD card I ordered days ago finally arrived today and it's now completly useless.
Dunno what I'm gonna do now. :S
Final Edit: Ok so it looks like it could be something up with the Wizard itself, could anyone confirm?
- The button in the centre of the joypad either 1. Acts as 'Start' or opens 'Align Screen', this is completly random. (sometimes changes on opening/closing the keyboard???)
- Either the joypad works and the Answer/Reject buttons don't or vice versa - this too is completly random.
- The Left / Right softkeys on the KEYBOARD (top left, top right) work randomly. If they are working the keyboard doesn't work, and again VICE VERSA.
- The LEDs on the call reject button / keyboard are on constantly. This only changes for a time if i mash the keyboard.
- The 5 letters mentioned previously don't work unless I mash the keyboard, in which case the Wizard will sometimes take over typing for itself and then I'm able to use the keys afterwards again. (yeah, I understand this makes absolutely no sense!)
- The Wizard will completly spontaniously start opening random stuff and typing as if keys are jammed.
I've flashed to Tmob 2.26, 3.08, WM6.1 (TNT) & WM6.1 (another cook) and have exactly the same problem. This all points towards broken hardware. I should have guessed with the amount of dents, scratches and a broken button that this poor Wizard has been through the mill a few times! Shame it had to use me as its death bed!
If anyone can recommend anything to what it might be and what I could do to fix it then please let me know.
Thanks!
Wow! You're not much for letting other people get a word in edge-wise, are ya?

Make sure you don't have Smartskey installed (look in Windows\Startup and in Program Files). If you do, uninstall it, it's been corrupted somehow.
Otherwise:
Ok, I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but I think it's just the age of these phones. They get old, they get dirty. Don't believe me? Take off your battery cover and look at the grime that's gathered at the edges. Imagine what that does to your buttons!
You need to open the case, disassemble the keyboard section (and the faceplate too, for good measure), and thoroughly clean the contacts, the buttons, etc. The further you disassemble, the cleaner you will get it. See this thread for a manual on disassembly/reassembly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378764
Use good quality sterile cotton swabs (no dollar store crap for this), and pure (not dyed) isopropyl alcohol. Dab the swab in alcohol, and gently scrub every inch of the contacts, the circuit board faces, and the buttons.
When that's done, wait for it to dry...and I mean as dry as a mummy fart. DRY. Inspect everything carefully, looking for loose cotton threads, debris, and most important, streaks. Streaks mean you just smeared the gunk around without picking it up. If you find cotton or debris, use canned air to remove it. DO NOT USE TWEEZERS OR OTHER METAL IMPLEMENTS TO DO THIS. If you find streaks, go back and clean it again.
Once it is both dry and clean, reassemble it and test it. You should be good to go unless there's something broken.
If neither of these things works, I would strongly urge you to consider committing a violent act on the individual who sold you the phone... you probably won't get your money back, but it might make you feel better.
Cheers, the thing has me at my wits end. Keep having to remind myself it's only a phone
Yeah it's def not Smartskey or a soft problem as I've flashed it a whole bunch of times this afternoon.
From mashing the keyboard and causing it to do different things it looks to be a hardware problem (or full of junk like you say). I grabbed the pdf manual to look through but don't feel too comfortable taking the thing apart just yet.
I just slapped it about a bit as best I could out of frustration and unbelivably it seems to have come back to it's former glory. I'm not gonna get my hopes up and expect it to stay like this though.
Yeah it was an ex-company phone from a company upgrading their stock so no refunds / replacements. I guess if the worst comes to the worst it'll go on ebay as faulty and I'll be without a little gadget I really craved! Back to my £10 Sagem for the time being.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi mate, your problem sounds similar to mine. Especially about the lights (though my green light is broken and only shows occasionally - came like that). You'll probably find that when it's in that state the problems arise.
Mine screwed up again after about an hour of my last post and the keyboard barely works at all now. Mashing it / hitting it / swearing at it isn't doing any good. I've virtually given up.
I'm not sure about a CID re-lock btw, but would Vodafone bother check to see if it was CID locked or not on return?
But hey, it sounds like a hardware malfunction. Good luck with yours & keep us updated if you find any kind of resolution !

Hey friends,
My beloved HD2 (T8585, the international version, running ParanoidAndroid v2.15 Jellybean) had a hard fall yesterday, and the the LCD got cracked on the bottom right. I was left with a fully working touchscreen but no display. So I gave it to a local cell phone repairer to get the LCD+Digitizer/touchscreen replaced. After the LCD+digitizer were replaced, the display has gone complete weird. It looks like I'm dealing with a phone that has 256 colors only. All pictures, camera, apps, live wallpapers etc. are looking horrible now. Of course I did not take the phone back from the repairer and have asked him to fix the display, but I thought it worthwhile to ask the experts out here if they've seen anything like this issue before.
To give you an idea of how things are looking now, I have posted pictures (from the internet) that are in 256 colors only. This is exactly how everything on my phone is showing up after the replacement!

AND this is the best example. On the far right is how I expect a pic to look like, and on the extreme left is how it is looking on my fone now. (please note that all these are pics I got from the internet)
Can someone help me understand what could have gone wrong?
Also, after the replacement all the front keys (except the End-Call key) have stopped working. What's going on guys?...!
The volume buttons are not working too.
If it is not the display itself, looks like the flex cables may not be connected properly to the motherboard- the keys not working strengthens this doubt, though front keys have a separate flex cable, while Vol keys are a part of the main flex. Are you sure this repair guy is capable?

Thanks for your response ph03n!x. Yes, I am seriously doubting this guy's abilities now. Took the phone back from him after replacing the new LCD+digitizer with my broken LCD+Digitizer. The front keys are still not working... only the end-call key is working. BUT the key backlights are not lighting up at all.
I think you may be right about the Flex cable.
The vol keys seem to have a different issue all-together because yesterday (when he first replaced the LCD+Digitizer) I couldnt even 'feel' the key click when I pressed it. Today he claims to have 'repaired' it and the vol up key feels good when I press it but the vol down key has become very hard. Nevertheless, I cannot test anything until the display issue is fixed.
You got any good references in Pune?
P.S. HTC service center had quoted me a bill of INR 8800/- (approx 160US$) while this guy was doing it for INR 3600/- (approx 65USD).
I am getting my refund from this guy tomorrow.
Very rarely comes a query that does not find many answers on this forum. Could this be one such? Only time will tell.
Anyways, I have emailed HTC India customer care asking for the price of a LCD+Digitizer, and I have found this online: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+HTC+HD2+PB81120+Screen/5651/1

Ebay has some expensive stuff, plus I cant be sure what they're selling will work on my phone.
What if it turns out to be incompatible like the one I got from this local phone repairer?
Hello,
If you consider yourself experienced enough to open up your phone by yourself, you could actually open it up and look if the LCD flex connector aswell as the Touchflex-Button-connector are connected properly and investigate the status of the volume buttons. This will only require minimal opening of the phone itself....
But please only do it if you think you can do it. If you never opened up electronics before, DONT do it, there are a lot of "traps" to fall in while opening the phone which could cause damage.
In my opinion, the best tutorial is this one. Unfortunately for you, its in German, but I think the pictures should speak for themselves.
http://mperlitsch.hintergrundbild.com/htc_hd2.htm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9qFi3MKnFY
You can buy LCD and touchscreen (digitizer) on ebay. There are actually 2 versions, one version, the touchscreen connector is soldered to the lcd display (old), the other version, the touchscreen is connected via a flex cable connector (new and better)
make sure to buy a version which is the same on your phone (if you want to buy LCD and Touch as a bundle, use the connector variant)
You can determine the version you have by going into the bootloader (press and hold volume down and power button), if there is 0x30 you have soldered LCD/Touchscreen, 0x40 or 0x50 is the connector variant
But again, if you dont feel like you can do this and only have little experience in electronics, dont do it. Let someone repair it.
Best regards
Request to mods.
I request the mods to move this thread to the HD2 General section where it may get more visibility (and possibly more responses too).

HTC HD2 256 colors problem - motherboard issue
Hi all. Looks like problem is more complicated. I am working on it for longer time.
I am IT Laptop / Server / PC professional (hardware refurbishment) - mobile phones as a hobby.
I think that your tech guy could do his job properly - I mean labour, like connecting ribbon cable, etc., but..
1st my story: I have got two HTC HD2's. One day digitizer has stopped working on one of them.
(Found that it is a factory fault - every time when you press power button, you crush ribbon cable from digitizer under it actually)
Anyway decided to replace a whole screen with digitizer who bought on ebay. Screen and digitizer was separetly so had to solder them together. After fitting a new screen digitizer works (touch screen), but screen shows 256 colors only! I was checking everything again - like: connections, sockets, ribbon cables. Nothing helps! Decided to try old screen and even a screen from 2nd phone - no success - the same 256 colors only!
Last test was to check new screen (with digitizer soldered by me) in 2nd, good phone - and works fine!
Conclusion: Motherboard in 1st phone is faulty!
Question: Why? New screen/digitizer has damaged the motherboard? If yes - why works on 2nd phone?
Shall I use ESD strap? (never happend to me so far) and again - why works on second phone?
Problem with solder balls due to extra stress during work?
Or maybe I've missed something?
I would be thankful for any professional advice - please write if you really know or at least opened this phone before (no guessing)
I would like to add that I've flashed phone with stock software and no success as well - still 256 colors :/
Thanks.

Not really. I am from Madras, and know a guy here - but even then, when it came to opening up my phone (when it went weird after gathering some moisture inside - another day in the beach!), I decided to do it myself. I followed the instructions from the official HD2 assembly/ disassembly video from here: http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/official-htc-hd2-disassembly-assembly-training-videos-leaked
Long story short - my phone is not perfect yet. I had to change the keypad for the front keys twice, still they are a bit 'soft', and dont give a solid click - sometime they go all weird, one key will activate the other. And the vol-up is not working, I will have to change the main flex to fix that.
That said, it is pretty straight forward to get your hands on - especially if you have ever opened an electronic item before and have the tools.

I have two HD2, one is whacky (see my reply above) and the other is pristine. I have opened both, and without ESD strap.
Why dont you find the panel manufacturer of this new panel:
Code:
dmesg | grep "Board id"
and see if this color issue is because of difference is manufacturers for the LCD you have gotten newly? We know that HD2 panels comes Acer (AUO) or Sharp - is the after-market panel from either of them, or is there a 'new guy' out there...?!

Guys,
I think my case is kinda different from what both of you described. I took my phone back from this repairer, and gave it to another guy. Surprisingly when he changed the LCD+Digitizer, the colors looked PERFECT! However the digitizer wasnt functioning properly so unfortunately I couldn't get my fone back. Gonna get it back tomorrow.
And on another note, the first repairer damaged the front buttons' panel. I had to replace that as well
Let me revert back with my findings if God-willing all turns out well by this time tomorrow
So i was scrolling through my facebook feed today and suddenly the left vertical half of the display started to flicker bright white. I was like #WTF is this? The right half went dark while the left was blinking randomly (once every 10 or 30 sec).
Reboot did not help; Called Google and told them about the issue.
I was told that this was the first of its kind issue reported and this needs to be investigated. :eek . As i was about to end the call the agent told me the replacement request is approved. :highfive:
This is my second 6P (first one had network connectivity issues) and I hope the third one doesn't give me any problems. This makes me doubt the Huawei build and hardware quality seriously, since many people have reported defective units being received.

Did you try a hard reset? Doubt it would help but you never know.

Sounds like a display board or connector problem.

Yeah. But we'll never know.
I just had the exact same problem right now. Any advice before I try to get a replacement?
A week after I bought mine a thin green line showed up on left edge. It got more noticeable with different colors. I sent it in and they fixed and sent it back....been fine ever since.

Did you send it back to Google or Huawei?
This also happened to me. It was a colored line vertical on the left side. It then changed to a very bright white line. I got the screen replaced out of pocket.

Ended up sending to Huawei
For the people with the broken displays, try this to recovery some data if you need it in the meantime of repair, or if you're replacing the device out of pocket etc.
1. Turn off your device
2. Boot to bootloader (hold Power + Volume Down), and wait a bit to be sure you're in the bootloader
2a. Flash twrp if you don't already have twrp
3. Scroll down to recovery - Two volume down clicks if nothing is visible
4. Hit the power button
5. Use the USB to USB C adapter that came with your phone, one side into your computer and one into your phone
6. Pull files FROM your phone to your computer if you have any important files
As for the stock firmware attempt after backing up important stuff
Steps 1-2 from above
3. Download the stock firmware of your choice
4. Flash stock, your choice to wipe userdata or not, instructions in the Sticky Thread
5. Press the power button on the bootloader after the device is done with the process from the fastboot side of things.

Hello, yesterday my phone started to show some green color on the screen, it started by once, I didn't drop it or something. Few seconds it's working good, but then it returns to all green or all mixed. And when i lock my phone, it starts to become green, even when it's locked?? Tried going to safe mode, soft and master reset, nothing is working. Any ideas? Thank u guys!

Open a ticket with Samsung and send it in for a screen replacement. if there is no water damage or physical damage they will fix it for free under warranty.
I have this green issue with flickering lines...
Warranty expired...
****sung
Are any of ypu rooted s8 u model. This is a byproduct of the combination bootloader used for rooting
Green Screen of Death
Very sorry to hear about it
While my S8 was messed up, my sisters s7 Edge had the exact same problem...

Now slowly, the green screen would start to flicker at times and lo one day, it would turn into a pale green light. You wont be able to do anything with the phone.
My IMMEDIATE ADVICE ...
TAKE a COMPLETE BACKUP of your data as soon as you read this message.
Secondly
Try turning the Blue Light filter off, Change the saturation of the phone and see if you are still seeing the green shade,
Send this device to service center.
EDIT :- Just now noticed the OP's date is almost a year old.
I got a same issue too today ****sung!
Is there a fix ? i dont wanna pay 250$ to replace the screen.it works well in full brightness
i got the same green screen on galaxy s8+ today after using it for 2 years i had custom kernel with hari rom, the phone is usable in full brightness, it has green overlay with horizontal line flickering over it i think this a motherboard issue, have your issue resolved ? what you did? i am thinking to change board and see
I have fixed my phone twice with this problem. You need to heat up the screen. Full brightness then record video for an hour. You should see the greenness recede. If there are green lines st the bottom which don't disappear, use a hairdryer on the screen. You will see the green vanish in 30seconds. When the phone cools, it will come back. You need to keep regularly reheating your screen to get rid of it, like every 20 minutes for a day or, 2. Eventually it will clear up. It's a pixel what issue. Heating the screen repeatedly restores functionality, after least in my case.

It is correct that it works in full brightness. Turn off the adaptive brightness and voila you can continue to work with full brightness. However, you can also reduce your
pixel to full HD from QHD to continue in this mode. I have been working on this for last few days else the ****sung care only want's to replace the screen combo .
Will try the heating methodology. I have doubts about battery also and planning to change and see.
Same issue just popped up today for me. Rooted nougat ROM with safestrap. It's definitely not the screen itself, and it's behavior is Sunday strange, it'll show up on webpages or other screens that are mostly white, but not on the dark mode applications.
so it's green on this thread and it gets less green when I open Chrome's settings on the top right.
Reboot fixes it. Until it comes back again.
Started to face this green tint issue on my S8 recently, the phone worked well for the past two years until suddenly one day this green **** happened. Never dropped the phone and never rooted it. For now rebooting the phone solves the issue, until it comes back. Till now it happened 5-6 times in a week. Rebooting fixes it and then it runs normally for sometime (or somedays) then it happens again.
Any solution?
Apparently it is a software problem, something about some screens batch that does not received well those new patches. i took my s8 g950fd at a Samsung authorized store and is was what they told me, but they don't fix it for free if it is not on warranty even though it is a Samsung software problem. I have tried to root and change roms, but it seems my cellphone does not accept root or new roms. if some one know how to help me id be grateful.
my screen has green after unlock bootloader. i didn´t anything, so im tired :/
Sounds like a firmware bug* on at least some of these. Samsung tech support sucks elephant balls bad. Obviously Samsung is well aware of this issue by now.
*during a production run Samsung will substitute smaller chipsets and components as needed. This can cause erratic firmware/update behavior as the substituted components don't have the correct values and/or code. If so you're in a fubar because Samsung is unlikely to supply the needed patch at this late date.
You can try flashing the original firmware, be wary of updates. It could be a system apk update as well.
It could also be a hardware failure on a whole batch(es) of these phones.
started having this problem suddenly now, didn't drop it, didn't do any updates. wow!

Install or uninstall -any- software lately?
hi there, I just replaced my screen for the umpteenth time but, on this occasion, it hasn't "taken". The old screen is totally obliterated, smashed display, but it still takes power and behaves as it should (lights up on disconnection of usb charger, for example). The new screen? Not so much. It does actually work, it shows the picture fine, but it only shows it for a fraction of a second then blinks off. When I press the power button again it does nothing, as it thinks I'm turning the phone off, then when I press it again the screen comes back on for a half a second or so and same issue. Have checked all connections, all fine, have swapped in the old screen to confirm it behaves as it should, all fine.
I'm wondering, could this be some kind of gpu/driver issue? Or has anyone experienced this before with a replacement screen and it's just a "dud"? Absolute downer as I've been waiting for it for a month or so and literally can't afford to buy another one at the moment, really bad year

I had a similar problem due to display incompatibility.
I have the phone marked FHD-D on the cable and the new display was FHD-A.
Or, the new display is not original...

Thanks for your reply and yeah, I'm figuring this is what is happening. However, the cable/screen are all one piece and were bought together, so is it possible they'd mismatch the cable to the screen themselves? idk, anyway, I've opened a dispute and have now been told that I'm stupid and that I have installed the screen incorrectly and not connected the battery (absolute gibberish).
I made a couple of videos for them, idk, have a look and see what you reckon but, indeed, to me this looks like straight up incompatibility as the screen isn't being driven properly by the phone (and, as you can see, the old busted screen behaves correctly)
Video of old/broken screen showing correct power response and on/off behaviour:

Here is the video of"new" screen which is clearly not correctly supported

Well hopefully I can get a refund for the part and get another. Can't even afford to order another at the moment until I get the refund :/ Lost my business last year due to covid and don't have access to state benefits or the like, so have just been trying to keep the head above water for the last year and a bit, so believe it or not something like this is a big expenditure for me these days :/

The original screen is "Boe" (see screenshot), this can be verified via the "Device Info HW" application.
Too bad the phone won't start and it can't be verified...

Yeah, it's a pain, I guess the display is just not going to work and I'll have to somehow get another - hopefully I can get the refund okay as those videos show it clearly doesn't work! The phone does actually start up, everything is going on fine aside from the screen. As I have to press on/off several times to get the screen to flicker, I don't have time to put in the unlock code and get into any menus, and then when it goes off I'm back to jockeying the button until it lights up again, at which point of course it's returning from a standby state so it's going back to the code input. BAH!
hello how are you 1 month ago I bought the second-hand mate 10 lite with the crashed but functional screen and I decided to buy a screen since the one I brought stopped working the touch screen everything was fine in the installation but the same thing happened to me as you understand normal but the screen does not work when the device is finished charging and putting the pattern turns on the screen and also that when I make a gesture it does not work I have to press a little hard and I realized that the screen came out a slight defect and I cannot request a refund since remove the security seals when installing it in your case if it came out with a major manufacturing defect
Note 2020 just look at the date of your post and still comment hehe greetings from Mexico
