Hi guys new member here, I just order my nexus 4 on the 27th and very exciting to be one of the proud owner soon!
I have always use a screen protector on my phone in the past but just the normal glossy type, they do tend to get all oily in the end which
gets harder and harder to clean. I am wondering if anyone has any experience on either matte or oleophobic screen protector, if so what brand and whats the pros and cons on using those? will it degrade the screen quality much? please and thank you!
Get xoskins and call it a day.. They're awesome and plus they have a lifetime warranty and their customer service is great.. Look up their website for more info

hello thanks for the reply, I checked out their website but they didn't really talk about the finger/oil resistance, can you shed some lights about it if you are using it now?
Hi all,
Was messing about playing Ravensword yesterday, noticed during the loading screen that I have two, yes two dead pixels!
Shock horror, get me a replacement naow!
Lol.
But in all seriousness, has anyone else got any? If you do; what type of screen have you got?
I'm looking into mine now and will report back later.

Are they dead or stuck?
I am on my 4th handset, finally managed to get a perfect display but every single one I had before had stuck pixels.

14 on this unit. Haven't seen a ONE without defective pixels (stuck/dead). Tends to happen a lot more often on HTC devices, had to send 7 ONE X back to Amazon last year because none of them had lass then 5 defective pixels.

Ouu, didn't see this thread, I'll check.

Yeah I have heard others saying its a common HTC thing. The handset I have now has the issue where a tiny amount of light can come through the bottom right corner of the glass, but considering the flawless display I'm holding on to it for dear life
I work at CPW and checked through 5 units at my home store to find one without stuck pixels. They all had them. Wasn't until I went to another store I got a perfect one. Makes me think batch issues or sheer dumb luck!
I got 1st replacement from p4u and it's got one stuck white pixel which is visible when brightness between 10 to 60% approx but gone when full or lowest brightness I tried lots of apps but it's still there

My 1st HTC one got no deal or stuck pixel but only gap

I've seen numerous units with gaps and light shining through them. That is far more annoying then 1-2 dead pixels that are barely visible. But 14 ... c'mon - that is not quality control. Funny thing is: I had 5 out of the box. The other 9 became visible only after one hour of usage.
I have none that I can see, I'm not going to go looking for them as with a screen of this PPI you'll probably find some if you look close enough. At normal viewing range with Auto brightness however, I cannot see anything. what I am getting is a weird screen flicker every now and then when typing on the keyboard, I seem to notice it on greys but it could be my imagination so I'll just see. The phone gets bloody hot but testing a few devices at work apparently 42c is a normal battery temp when running some intensive games, so I guess I'll just live with the device slow cooking my hand.
That flickering is "normal" I'm afraid. Also appears on fixed brightness with mine.
I have at least 5, although 1 is clearly visible now that i know it is there. Another one is on the bottom corner so not visible unless you look for it.
The others i haven't seen in a non all-black screen. Not really visible
I'm on HT339W with PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2
Pixel fixing apps did not work
Had 2 Xperia z handsets with dead or stuck pixels so switched to HTC one, had 2 of them and both had clusters of dead pixels. Awaiting 3rd htc handset now.
QA definetly seems to have dropped on this years handsets. Had 3 of the flagships from last year (returned for various faults) and all were pixel defect free first time.
Going to stick with replacement HTC ones (for now) as it is a nicer phone than the Xperia. Would really like to just get a non defective handset and use it now tho, been 3 weeks of exchanges already as I have to do it all by post.

Thins is are you looking closely with brightness fully up and using white and black pages? You're going to have dead pixels when PPI is this high, luckily under normal use you wont see them unless there is a cluster.

Something people tend to forget is that with higher resolution screens come more chance for dead pixels. This phone has over 2.07 Million pixels (2,073,600). Dead/Stuck pixels are harder to detect with a ppi as high as this.
.00009645% of your pixels are dead.
Had my HTC one for 1 day. Purchased from affordable mobiles and have seven dead pixels, faulty camera, gaps too and bottom. Give me my amoled s2 back !!!! Problem for me know is I have micro SIM and my s2 is locked to 3 UK !!!!
Knew I should of waited for the s4 and this is my punishment.

I think these things come from first batches given the race with S4.
I will wait quality control calm down a bit their eyes.
.
Dumb question. I've had a couple of Samsung devices in a row and didn't have any dead/stuck pixels - other odd blotches, but no pixel issues.
Is this not possible on amoled screens, or was I just lucky?
Believe me or not but I got some kind of curse, since 15 years I buy tons of electronics and electrical stuff but only 5% of which turned out to perfectly fine and without any problem, almost every item I buy in the past have some kind of problem on arrival or it must be claimed for warranty

Can I ask an out-of-topic question?
Samsung and JDI, who is the one producing One's screen? I saw the name of the panel is PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_1 or PANEL_ID_M7_JDI_SAMSUNG_C2_2, where I can see both JDI and Samsung here
I'm getting panicky now, I'm on my 8th Xperia Z now because they all had, including this one, dead/stuck pixels!
I'm getting it exchanged for a HTC One, just hope that I won't be harassed by dead pixels! I'm only 21 and these pixels are making me age by decades, completely stressed out constantly exchanging phones due to pixel problems and having patronising blind turds in Carphone telling me they can't see anything!

My nexus 10 has a couple tiny specs of dust under the display, but I decided to keep it as it was better than the others I had. I went through 3 nexus 10s to get one with acceptable light bleed and minimal dust. In fact, the first of every device I've owned has had an issue. For instance, my first sgs3 had a few bright pixels, as did my second. To be honest, I can't even tell you if my current one has any issues as it has a screen protector on it, but it probably does. I also went through 3 1080p ips Asus laptops with screen defects before I gave up and bought a cheap Acer that also has bright pixel. My old Samsung galaxy tab 2 has two bright pixels and just noticed my canon elph camera also has one. My brand new surface pro has a small piece of dust under the display and a bright pixel. I guess my point is should I just accept the fact that no nexus 10 (or any other device for that matter) has a perfect display? Sorry if this question is too broad for this section, this is just the only place I could think to ask it where like minded people may be able to chime in. Thanks.

If that's the only issue and it doesn't really bother you keep it. I'm sure mine has some too but I just don't bother looking for them because I don't notice anything under normal circumstances. I'm sure you can get one without dust but then you'll probably find major light bleed. I wouldn't bother taking the chance of getting one worse unless it's really bad

Well the obvious answer is no, but the closest I've gotten would be from my moto x and my lg g2. With a tablet as affordable and high speced (when it came out) I kind of have to assume quality control wasn't the most stringent. That and if you think about it, the nexus 10 was a sand box for all of Samsung's new tech so the production methods probably weren't perfected yet

Hey guys,
Please help me in getting a display for redmi pro
I am not getting the redmi pro display everywhere its out of stock.
Anyone knows or have made a screen replacement then please help.
Thanks.
I made one a few months back. I bought one from eBay for 40€. It's still available but I can't link you since I am new, you can find it under Redmi pro 5.5". The only problem is, that it's not an OLED screen I think. It works fine, but I moved on to the poco.
You could buy the original oled screen with or without frame in AliExpress. It's free shipping too.
Without Frame
With Frame
Out of curiosity I tested the screen from eBay and it is actually OLED but it came without the frame. With frame is better.
hello , are you interested to sell the REDMI PRO
I have been doing a decent amount of searching on if the screens purchased off eBay can compare to the official (uBreakfix) type screens. I don't so much care about warranty as i'm already out of it, but curious how the screens actual look and compare quality wise to the official OEM Google screens.
I am also interested in hearing any experiences with an eBay replacement screen. My phone slid off my lap getting out of my car the other day and somehow the screen cracked underneath the Whitestone dome I have on it while not cracking the dome glass at all (super strange) and I had my case on as usual. I guess just bad luck but regardless I would like to replace the screen but I don't want to spend $200 on a Google screen when I can get a whole another pixel 2 XL for $300. If eBay screens are halfway decent I'd just get get that. Appreciate anyone's input.
I don't know about pixels screen, but usually the screens from China are low quality units. I bought some for previous phones, OnePlus 3t and Xiaomi, and the quality was always worst than the original. Imagine on a high quality screen like the one of p2xl
Just to bump this, i have not found a good replacement screen yet and have just been dealing with it. Has anyone found a solid one?
I bought an ebay replacement screen for a friend and within 6 months he got a dead pixel. They are much lower quality than the already low quality OEM pixel 2 xl screen
TBH at this point you might as well just buy a used pixel 2 xl. You can get a fully functional phone with an OEM screen for less than the price of a screen and it'll still be waterproof. They're at the point in their lifecycle where they are not worth fixing unless you're trying to recover files or something.
If you are serious about fixing it even if it costs more, search for "Pixel 2 XL OEM screen" and try and find one taken from a phone rather than an aftermarket one. You will likely find a lot of fakes but they are out there.
