Zenfone 2 Laser :eek:nly right channel audio on headphones - Zenfone 2 Laser Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Only about a week after purchasing the phone off amazon brand new, only one side of any pair of headphones i plug in works. Any way to fix this? Would like to avoid using manufacturer's warranty so i am not without a phone for a month while i wait for them to fix it.

You sure your headphone not broken? Try another headphone, or try that headphone with another phone
Edit: and make sure audio player / any dsp says "balance" ,

Nope have tried with every pair i own. All work fine on other devices. Even plugged in a portable amp, got a very faint sound to come out of the left channel.

If that's true, then hw problem, I'm not sure you can fixing this w/o going to service centre, hacking (let me rephrase it, DIY fix) your device mean your warranty void,
Or there's actually something w/o dismantling Phone..
Just ask them, how long they can fix this, don't have backup phone? then bear with it

[Q] How to determin whethet its HARDWARE or FIRMWARE fault ???

Hi.
Yesterday my phone stopped recognising the earphones/speakers when plugged in ?! It doesn't show the "headphones" icon any more, and even on full volume I can here sound/music only on the left speaker/earphone very silently. I've tried 2 different headphones, 2 different speakers as well ... ale same results.
Is there a way how to determine whether it's firmware/software issue or hardware ???
Thank you in advance.
P.S. : what I did prior to noticing this problem - we have a new sound system in our school that has two places for connection. We were using one of them, but couldn't use the another one, because of lacking cable. Once the cable arrived and we connected the cable to the system - I've tried whether it's working with my phone. It played the sound only in the way, that I've described. So we have tried it with an Iphone (the same results) and later PC, which played the sound correctly. I'm still waiting for response from the Iphone owner, whether he has the same problem - but could the cable/system caused the fault ??? Do you think, that my phone would get damaged by "some current" ???
From what you say, it seems to be an hardware problem. To test this, you can perform a factory reset and if the problem persists it's definitively an hardware problem.
one possibility is you got dust/lint in the earphone socket. the cover broke off on my defy, and i occasionally have to pull some lint out using a toothpick
I've checked that as well, but couldn't see anything there. Well never mind now...I've sold the Defy and bought a new one. Such a great phone deserves that everything is running as it should
Thank you for your help.

[Q] headphones not working, options?

Hi all. Didn't find too much searching on alternatives, so posting to see if anyone can help.
I have the dead audio 3.5 port. and since i got the tablet from Craigslist (stupid of me not to check at the time of the purchase) I cant warranty it.
Looks like it has a good contact when headphones are inserted but the tablet just doesn't react to it at all. Anyone can perhaps tell me if just changing the headphone jack and USB port ribbon will fix it?
Perhaps using micro usb headphones is a an option? I did read somewhere on this board that it might not work. Anyone with a solid knowledge?
I don't want to use Bluetooth, battery will not keep up with my video/audio listening routine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Connector is quite stiff. Make sure your headphones are fully inserted - and maybe try a different headphone.

Yeah, it goes in all the way. i opened it and examined the connection when the headphones are plugged in. tried different headphones and even tried to connect headphones directly to the outlets on the board bypassing plugging in to the actual connector. nothing. not even static noise when shorting out the connectors on the board.
I would still try to push an RMA through Asus - even without a store receipt.
Sure nothing to lose, and you might find the one helpful CS guy.

No left channel audio with headphones

Well, I just received my 128GB Graphite directly from Huawei. Spent forever checking it over for any flaws right when I got it and found none of the usual one. So of course, after setting it all up for a couple hours, I come to find out the headphone jack is defective. If you plug in headphones, you have no left channel audio. To get audio out of the left channel, you have to grab the plug and pull it towards the left of the phone and hold it there.
Anyone else have this issue?
No issues on my end. Have you tried a few different pairs of headphones? If they all have the same issue, I'm afraid you'll have to get a replacement.
Oh yeah, forgot to include that. Tried 3 different headphones and they all behaved the same unfortunately.
Kind of wish I ordered from Google now. Huawei has no replacement services, just repair. So I have to send them my phone, they're going to open it and repair it. This worries me and I'm expecting my phone to be in worse condition when I get it back considering how hard these things are to open.

No audio on left channel

Hello. A few days ago I lost the sound on the left channel on my N910F. I tried with different headphones (and also my headphones on other phone). The headphones are ok but I have no sound on the left channel (the headphones microphone works though). I tried cleaning the internal connector as good as I can but no luck, so I sent the phone to a samsung service for warranty. They called me the next day saying they wont touch the phone because it is rooted which voided the warranty.
Is the phones connector a separate module which I can change myself? If so how expensive is it? It also could be the motherboard... I only used dr ketan's rom and emotroid on this phone... I've been rooting and flashing samsung devices sice the S1 days (every iteration) and never heard of something like this.. that's why I'm blaming a physical issue with the connector.
Thanks.

It's the right channel which is not working, the left one is ok. I am now ordering the replacement part, if anyone interested here's how you change it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsUhVTj6Drc

Audio IC on Samsung Note 9.

The Audio on my Note 9 is no longer working.
The head phone jack is dead. Both the Mic and both the top and bottom speakers are dead.
I have given it to Samsung asking them to fix it. But if they do not fix it. I plan to fix it myself.
I have narrowed it down to two possible ICs. One is the
max 9845 https://datasheets.maximintegrated.com/en/ds/MAX9812-MAX9813L.pdf
the other the
WM8960 https://www.cirrus.com/products/wm8960/
The problem started after the update to the latest version. First it started to heat up more than normal. Then it took really long to work. Then audio started to get sketchy and finally audio died.
The fun bit if I screen cast. I get audio. If I use blue tooth head set I get audio.
But I cant answer phone calls using my Bluetooth which I could do earlier.
Spent a few days going thru the logs on the phone using ADB the only thing I saw was could not open /dev/snd/
Which makes me think its the 98512 IC.
Any help appreciated. If Im lucky Samsung will agree with me that a Flag Ship phone that costs 1000$ should last for at least 2 Years. And they fix it. Else I have to order the IC and fix it myself.
Ps: There is one more possible IC that may be needed it is the CS47L93 audio IC.
I found this info in the service manual i got via XDA.
So its now down to 3 chips. CS47L93 audio IC or Max98512 or WM8960
Could really do with some help here.
