New device, what order do I do everything? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

...

hortstu said:
I got a s7 edge about 5 days ago. I always go 2-3 years between devices so I forget all this stuff but if someone can just put the plan in the proper order for me and answer a quick question or two I'm sure I can find the threads.
First, I have
software version G935PVPU2APD3
model SM G935P
6.0.1
If you need more info ask and I'll edit this.
Is my device rootable yet?
Should I update anything first? If so what?
then root via CF
install a rom
install titanium
remove bloat (is there a list of what can be safely removed and what can't?)
set it up the way I like
I'm done?
Thanks for any help.

This is important as well especially number one.

I became very familiar with the forums by following number one.
I'm not being rude at all just trying to keep you from some unnecessary flaming that I got hammered with when I started.

I did search but since I'm not exactly sure of what I'm doing must not have used ideal keywords. Like I said I've had this thing 5 days and haven't activated it yet. I've been putting time into getting it the way I want it. Lots of searches etc. Thanks again for your help... and this isn't my first visit but since I'm not a developer I don't spend a lot of time here.

No you're not but even though you enable OEM unlock there's still no way to unlock the bootloader and no root

Installed KINGROM, now my vr headset won't install or even recognize.

I have two s7 edges, one stock rom which works fine and this one - which was stock rom until last night. I rooted and installed KINGROM and everything is lovely, all except now my gear vr won't recognize when it's attached.
I wanted to post in the kingrom forum, but I don't have enough posts to do so, so I have to ask here.
Does anyone know why the headset isn't triggering the install? I can confirm it worked when on stock rom, and the KINGROM page claims that the vr is fully supported.
Australian stock, Optus carrier.
Many thanks
You should have this posted in the international s7e section not AT&T. We don't have root, custom recovery, or custom roms yet. You would probably get a response and possibly a solution if you posted in the right section.

HELP building 1st Rom

Hello everyone, I first want to say thanks and sorry if I posted this in the incorrect section or if it's been discussed before. I want to learn how to make my own custom Rom for my Verizon Samsung Galaxy s7 edge snapdragon ( G935vvrs2apf2). I already have Tickle my android on my windows 10 laptop. If anyone could be nice enough to tell me how to get a stock rom (G935vvrs2apf2) so I can deoxde it and how to you extract it to star modification. Also what else do I need like software, tools, and a guide or how to would be nice. Also since my bootloader is locked how can I back up my rom so I can reflash it incase I mess something up. Thanks to all. I know it's not going to be easy but I rather try and fail than fail because I didn't try at all.

@orgulloso4202, FYI unless you are actively developing a ROM, kernel or recovery, you should not be posting in the development section. Please note the rules for posting in the development section stickied there. I've moved this to the Help section.
Cheers!
This is the best and advice I can give you. 1st you will need a linux machine with a build environment set up and SuperR's Kitchen. 2nd go to this section for any questions and info, there are quite a few helpful people there. I built a few ROMs but it's been a while and I'm not too good at giving directions. I only had partial success with the S7 and pretty much gave up. So there you have it go to the links, read and ask in there. It's your beset bet. I have firmware here you can download and build from. Good luck and have fun.
