I'm disappointed.
- NFC Quick setting is gone.
- Some apps like Messenger works weird.
- SMS sound won't be remembered after choosing.
- Can't move apps to SD.
- Can't be rooted by tethering recovery.
they are still on the testing phase.
The one you've downloaded was just for beta testers and Asus mistakenly uploaded it publicly.
Do some reading sir, before posting thread like this.
It's also a beta currently, so I guess the only disappointment is to those who don't read before jumping into things.

Exactly!
Point 1 is a shame (but no NFC on 550 so doesn't affect us 550 owners).
Point 2 - what do you mean by weird? Works fine for me.
Point 3 - beta bug, will be fixed.
Point 4 - replaced in M by adoptable storage option, which has been disabled by ASUS (and LG, and Samsung) but is easy to enable via adb (I made a thread on that earlier).
Point 5 - complaining you can't root a new software version when it has only just released is stupid. Just be patient, root will come (and in fact just seen the thread with instructions for root and xposed via tethered TWRP!)
it is beta. not official release
Supposed to be released at the end of the month. Waiting patiently as beta testing is on.

It could stretch to some time after this month as well as Asus changed their original timeline. http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-55985-1-1.html

1 - I am 551 user.
2 - When i call, i hear ringing from big speaker first.
3 - This is ridiculous bug. I had it in Xperia L's stock too.
4 - Another reason why i rolled back to Lollipop.
5 - Just another reason... I hope someone makes systemless root ASAP.
http://techterms.com/definition/beta_software
Install/move to SD on lollipop is terrible and almost pointless, because even when you move files to the SD it leaves files on internal as well, often almost as big as the originals. Hardly saves any space. Try the new style on M - only takes a line of adb code to enable and it's much better than the old way.
Trolling thread is always troll...
Don't feed the troll...
it is a beta for testers only , now we got root and we can flash back to 5.0 to relock bootloader -- do we need anymore lol

how will us with wifi only get this?
Any update is good news at this point I think. I wonder if there is any harm in updating, ie will it remove the ability to root and what not? I wish they would provide more details on what exactly the patch does. Also, it clearly says on the Verizon network, what about those not on it and are only on wifi?

MY droid always popped up updates even when I was only on wifi. I imagine we'll all get it or someone will post the update.zip anyway.
I'm curious if the Tegra 2 versions of flash (10.1) floating around will have something to interact with, and start functioning. They have with everything else. As soon as I get the OTA (no 3G), I have a folder full of them in my Dropbox.

yesssssssssssss
Glad to see an update but there is nothing listed to get excited about except a possible problem with the upcoming daylight savings time switch. Who cares about the flash update since it does not actually include it. But this will be a good test run to see how the updates are sent out and applied.

You can force a check by rebooting. Not the best method, but it works.
Why do unlocked xooms need to get relocked?
I understand why you need to be on stock boot.img but i don't understand why you need to have the device relocked to get the update.
It makes no sense.

According to the system update tab this didn't happen in 3 reboots since the announcement. Still last check at 5:20. Really want to see if any of the 10.1 Tegra versions work after this. I've been frantic to have Flash lately (PlayOn/Netflix).

It might have a minimum time between checkins. Mine said 9:20am, then showed current time for last checkin when I rebooted.
So would it be fair to say that those of us who have rooted should wait until this update is released to see if in fact we really do need to revert back to stock/locked condition? Because I'd really be pissed if we had to lose all of the data on our Xooms just for this update, when very few of us have actually changed anything with the boot.img, etc. I mean back when I first rooted my N1 but before I flashed custom ROMs, I never had to wipe back to stock to receive OTA updates, so why would that be the case here??
For when it happens, please use this thread to have your respectful discussion. Thanks all!

This is for people that had the first problem of mobicore problem.
Warning::: THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT I CAN NOT SAY FOR EVERYONE. I AM NOT A DEVELOPER SO MY KNOWLEDGE IS VERY LIMITED!!!!
You need to download the update file from this thread. You will need to rename it to change the .cfg to .zip
Attached is a fix.zip that contains the files you need. You will need to be on a nb4 with root.
Extract zip files and copy them to your internal memory on phone.
Step 1 copy the mobicore-presetup.sh to /system/bin
Step 2 copy all the apk files to /system/app.
Step 3 For each apk you copied you need to set the rght persmissions. rw-r--r--
Step 4 Copy the update file that you renamed to external sdcard.
Step 5 Reboot into recovery by rebooting phone. As soon as screen goes blank from shutting down hold Volume Up + Home + Power. Once you see rebooting into recovery let go of only power button and wait.
Step 6 Once in recovery use the volume down button to highlight update from external storage and hit the power button.
Step 7 Use volume buttons to scroll down to update file and use power button to select it.
Step 8 Wait for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 9 You will be returned to recovery menu, scroll down using volume buttons to wipe cache and hit power button.
Step 10 Hit power button on reboot and wait.

Agreed. Not now nor have ever been a fan of stock Android. I really don't understand the hype. When Android first hit the scene, I remember all the rave being about "ultimate customization" and "tons of features." Now, when I hear people always b*tching and moaning about why there's upset ALL Android phones don't come stock — it seems like the arguments is "I love the simplicity and 'cleaness' of it all."
I'm like, if I wanted watered-down and simple, I'd buy an iPhone and stick to iOS! That's the one positive thing I can say about iOS... it's polished and it generally works. However, it's very minimalist, not customizable, and lacks features. Why on Earth someone would want and Android phone to go as bare-boned as possible, makes no sense to me. I, too, find stock Android to be really ugly, IMO. I find nothing attractive about the look.
I want a phone full of customization and features, and that's what TouchWiz gives me. I have never had an issue with the TW versions found on the original Note and up. I really don't get all the hate but whatever. I am a TW fan and as long as it doesn't get super stale like HTC Sense did when I was diehard fan, I'm good to go!
If there is any more of a delay, my theory is that AT&T decided to wait for the 4.4 update from Samsung that restores third party S-View case functionality.
If you look at the timeline of when Samsung updated the Note 3 unlocked and international models, they pushed out the KitKat update, and then about a week or two later, announced a second update was in the works to fix the issue. As far as I know, that update hasn't been pushed to any device as of yet. This was about a month ago.
Plausible theory, I think. Either way, I'm in no rush. 4.3 NB4 working great for me, and after owning a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon before this, I'm not feeling the "root and ROM" itch just yet.
So, I woke up this morning to a failed AT&T update. Aka, My rooted rom, didn't match. Guess I got lucky it didn't brick overnight.

Was able to get a ROM built and running based on LRX21V straight from source. Just trying to get a feel on how many people would want to run AOSP. There are some bugs present such as video recording causing the camera to stop working. I think there are binaries missing that Google didn't include in the binaries that are available. Same problem happened on the Nexus 5. Didn't test it much as I just purely wanted to see if it booted.
Also there is a lack of gapps available so I won't be rushing to get anything out. Let me know what y'all think and I'll try to tackle this to get some other options out for us.
Here is the test build for those that want to have a look. This is just a test build so bugs are to be expected. Video recording does not work. Haven't tested it completely as I need a fully working device this weekend. This is for those that have free time to just nit pick and find all bugs in this. Please report back after you are done and let me know what else you may have found that is broken or not working right.
Stock Google kernel (so if you flashed the kernel image to remove encryption your phone WILL be encrypted again)
Built off 5.0.0_r7 from AOSP
Flash ROM, flash gapps and flash SU that is linked below. This will allow root access on the stock kernel.
You can also optionally flash the custom boot image after flashing the ROM, gapps and SU by rebooting to bootloader and fastboot flash boot the custom encryption kernel. That is optional. Be sure to go back in to recovery after flashing the kernel to reflash the SU to make sure it was not overwritten.

That is pretty offensive. It is a new device and isn't in the developers hand so releasing work without testing their work leads to quality problems.

No. Minor bug fixes for the particular device it was made for but that's it. I did notice on the N5 that there was a significant "miscellaneous" battery drain on r7. Might roll back to r3 if its present since r3 is the one for us (its also the same build for the N5).

There are 3 different 6045i firmwares in the stock image thread. You could have backed up one at a time till you got one that worked with google voice and didn't have other issues.
But wouldn't that negate the positive results of the most recent update (improved DTTW, etc.)?

Off topic. But how do you like or compare to the blu life one 2015?
I like the Blu Life One LTE quite a bit. Bought it for $99 off Amazon during a pre-order promotion, and have been using out to compare various carriers alongside my Idol 3. Considering that it has only 1 gig of RAM, it's remarkably smooth. Very bright 720p display, good battery life. A paltry 8g of onboard storage, but I'm an app minimalist, and it does take an optional SD card. Dual SIM capability which has come in handy, though you must choose between SD card or SIM 2.
The Idol 3 is considerably more powerful (600-class Snapdragon versus 400; 2 gigs of RAM, bigger, full HD display, etc.). Covers more LTE bands, including Band 12, which is important for T-Mobile users like myself. Substantially better speakers.
I'm somewhat of a phone hobbyist, and have been playing with a number of inexpensive handsets lately (these two and a Lumia 640 -- amazing phone for $100 or less). I've gained new respect for this class of handset. See little or no need to pay flagship prices. But I don't game, so don't tax a CPU as some other users might.
I've been using an HTC One M7 on Verizon, but an going to move to T-Mobile. Coverage is solid here in New Orleans, and for my family (four of us) it's vastly less expensive, with vastly more data.

Do you have a source for that bit of news? Are there any other fixes coming besides Stagefright, GV, and SMS timestamp issues?
Nevermind, found it. Source of his posting here.
Hi All --
Wanted to let you guys know a new software update for IDOL 3 users will be released on or around August 10. This update will initially be available to IDOL 3 customers in the U.S. and will address fixes for Google Voice and SMS time stamp issues experienced by some users, as well as a Google security patch for the Stagefright vulnerability. For IDOL 3 customers in Canada, we are working with our carrier partners and hope to have an availability update for this very shortly.

Posted a thread that should be useful to the folks who plan to revert to stock to install the update. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...e-custom-update-zips-to-t3175068?goto=newpost
I plan to give it a try and if it works I'll TRY to capture the 6045i update url as I did the previous updates..(I use a transparent squid proxy that all devices in my house go through to get to the internet. It allows me to intercept the url)..if I can get the update.zip downloaded I will make it available and perhaps some users will be able to sideload the update with less hassle.

That would be awesome. I'm in Canada and don't want to have to wait for my carrier to 'Ok' an update for a major security issue like this.
If that could be done for 6045k since I saw one user on this forum from Portugal with K model and 01003 update..
Meaning the update is pushed different from region to region..

Once someone who is un-rooted receives notification of this update, would you please post here letting us know the update has started to roll out? I don't think rooted users will get a notification of the update since we can't even check for one without getting a notification of being rooted.

So if I unroot to get this update, am I even going to be able to reroot?
I was really hoping I wouldn't have to mess around with anything more on this phone until CM is out for it.

Pretty sure you will still be able to re-root.
I can confirm that using the Full Unroot method via SuperSU works on this phone. I just ran it out of curiosity and followed the steps and SuperSU is gone from the app drawer and I am able to check for updates. See screenshots:
Any clue what the new update being pushed today contains ?

Receiving this update now, its automatic and I can't seem to stop it easily.
I'll report what I find. I unrooted and went default yesterday, on retail 6.0.1. Gonna sell my note and get Google Fi soon.

Can you try to downgrade after you update and see if it'll downgrade? Thanks. Its ok if you're not interested in all that hassle.

Nothing visible has changed, no new apps. No new settings. June 1st security patch which may be different. I'll maybe try to downgrade tomorrow.

I already checked it. Downgrade safe.
I haven't found a tutorial on downgrading to 5.1.1 from 6.0.1. Is there a safe way to do it?

Not sure what you mean by "safe" but typically you just use Odin to flash full stock 5.1.1, do a factory reset in stock recovery afterwards and you're done.

I'm guessing its just a June security patch.
I'm impressed Verizon is actually trying to keep up with the security updates on this device. BUT, i dont think they have a choice because this device is probably more used then the Note5 .
Anyone tried this update while being rooted?

Seems to have fixed some lag, heat , and battery drain issues I was having. Auto brightness is still borked. Still have to turn the brightness down manually in a dark room, and up to max outside.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews of Google Fi. Which phone are you going to go with? I've thought about replacing my Note 4 DE with the Moto X Pure when they run it on sale again (was $319 a few days ago). But the Droid Z Force also looks nice.
Made my battery worse! A little less lag though....so got that goin for me!!! Lol

Not really the place to discuss it so I'll keep it brief.
My girlfriend has a Nexus 5X. The phone is amazing, updates are quick and common. It operates perfectly on marshmallow with no noticeable issues. We live in bum**** and she still gets service wifi calling and texting is fine, and no contracts. We pay about 42 a month for hers with insurance.
Well one thing I noticed (not sure if it was this update or the last one) is that when you pick an application to use (like browser) it becomes the default. With the old OS it would ask you to use just once or make it the default. Arrgggg I prefer to pick the application as needed and not make it the actual default.

The MM update made this change to default app handling. I liked the old way too. Now if I want to change the default app I have to remember which app was set as default before I can make the change. Sometimes remembering which app was set as default isn't easy to do.
Deleted. Think was in wrong thread.
Been a long time sense I've posted anything in this forum.
I just went back to the Note 4 and did the MM update and have noticed a heavy draw on the battery compared to LP. Am wondering if letting it did cycle through a few time might correct the battery drain. Was on an iPhone for awhile, but for personal reasons came back android. Has anybody tried that yet. Have been temped to hard reset and start fresh to see if it fixes it.
This update has increased the battery draw on mine and it is running HOT! Need help.
