Ambient display question... - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to brighten the ambient display on the Nexus 6P? TIA.

I'm also wondering this. I see some custom ROMS allow this but I'm running stock. I'd there a build prop I can change or maybe an xposed module I can try?

[Q] Notification LED with screen on?

Running stock LG ROM, rooted with xposed on vs980.
I'm wondering if it's possible to make the notification LED work with the screen on as well as off.
Is there an xposed module that might do it, or could be added to G2xposed or G2TweaksBox?
Or a config file somewhere I can add/edit a line to accomplish this?
I loved that feature of AOKP on my GNex. Haven't taken the leap to flashing a new ROM on my G2 yet, but I would love the feature now.
Especially when playing a full-screen game, but even more needed once I upgrade to a KitKat ROM and use multiple apps in immersive mode with no statusbar/notifications visible.

[Q] Can you alter the color temperature with a custom kernel

Hi all,
I don't own an S5 as yet so I can't test this myself. I've been looking around and noticed a custom kernel mention an option for LCD Color Control. I am wondering, does this mean you will be able to alter the color temperature (white balance) of the screen? The kernel where I've seen this is [KERNEL][GPL][3.4.91+][SM4.10]Blaze™ Kernel -15. Are there any other kernels which allow color control?
Thanks.

Theres also built in applications that allow you to alter the screens appearance. (Try looking in the Display settings)
Thanks guys,
I was aware of the in-built display settings but I wanted something that allowed finer control.
Ok, I've got my S5. I'm going to give the LCD color a try soon. I was just wondering if anyone has actually tried this and altered the white balance? I find the whites a bit too yellow.

Need rom for D802 that ambient display works

Hey guys. I am using Acdisplay from play store. And it works pretty good. But i wanna try the "original" ambient display. I used RR rom and tried eith xposed enable ambient display module. But it didn't work. So. Is the any rom that work ambient display? I wanna try Dirty Unicorns. But don't know is it working with ambient display. Thank you for help.
I don't think that it works on stock-based Lollipop, but here's a mod for cm12. Maybe I missed something so please check out the LG G2 Index-Thread.
On AICP it used to work

ambient display

Would you mind helping me to add ambient display to the stock rom, just like it's in the custom roms?
I konw that there is an ambient display in the stock rom, but less customized than the custom one.
I stoped the stock feature and installed ambient display from xposed modules and and restart the device but noting happens.

If the device has a custom rom , I can turn the screen on by waving on sensor area or moving the device when the ambient display function is activated. But on the stock rom I need to move the device to see the ambient display. Which means that the behavior of ambient display on the custom rom is better( in my opinion) than on the stock rom.

Search for MotoDisplay Handwave on Play Store.

Ambient display on rooted 7.0 Style

Hey XDA,
Does anyone know if it's possible to enable the android ambient display on a rooted style (I much prefer it to Moto's Active Display). I've been trying to get it working for a few days now. I disabled the moto display task, and can select ambient display in settings, but no go. I've installed the Ambient Display xposed module, and have all the options, but still doesn't turn on when I get a notification or when I reach for it.
I've also tried setting up a tasker profile to make use of the sensors, but can't figure out how to switch on Ambient display, not the entire screen.
Any ideas?
Yes, running into the same issue with stock OTA 7.0 and ambient display on XT1575.
Was anyone ever able to get stock ambient display (not Moto Active Display) working?
No... As most developers of ROMs for this device who have ever tried to get Moto Display working on a custom ROM will tell you, Ambient Display and Moto Display cannot co-exist in the same device. If Moto Display is installed (as in on stock), then Moto removed or otherwise permanently the default Android Ambient Display functionality, likewise if Ambient Display is working, Moto Display cannot even be installed, because of how this works it likely has hooks into the kernel as well.
TLDR answer... If you want Ambient Display go to a custom ROM, otherwise live with Moto Display if you want to stay stock.

Nope, the truth is that lenevo intentionally removed some ambient display code from 7.0 for some unknown reasons. On previous 6.0 android you could enable it just by disabling moto display app in the settings.

Hmm... Then why can't we add Moto Display to a third party ROM? (I only refer to Nougat, Marshmallow is legacy in my book)
