Hi
It's quite disturbing - many of little scratches everywhere!
I bought tempered glass to protect my screen BUT it doesn't fit those 2.5D edges WTF?
Performance and refreshed apps are great but its body is horrible
Xperia X is new king of scratch magnet!
I have naked phones in my pocket all the time and non of them gets scratches so easily.
Shame...

Maybe you should get a case to protect it from scratches? I've just recently got my X and immediately ordered a gel case and a hard case via Amazon for a company called Terrapin. I paid £5 for each one but unfortunately the Hardcase is for an X Performance but the gel one fits nicely as is doing the job well. As for screen protectors I ordered them on amazon too which include a protector for the rear of the phone, I haven't received them yet but I'll let you know anyhow. I've had a Z2 for almost 2 years with front and rear protectors on every time I've re applied the rear and front glass are absolutely immaculate, I've done very dirty jobs too so I'm really surprise on the condition lol.

But rounded corners in XX are hard to cover with tempered glass. I'll try to send it back becouse there is 5mm of air gap around the corners. The roundings on 2.5d display has 8mm deep into center of screen 3mm strong and 5mm low curve. I don't like fliped cases, silicon back is ok but I can't get it in poland.

Got few of these for USD 0.30 each (non full coverage), and the full coverage one you can get them from amazon.co.jp or yahoo.co.jp, the full coverage one has 4 version (not 100% sure if the information is correct), haven't received the full coverage one yet, should get it today or tmr. sorry can't provide direct link, forum doesn't allow me to do this. It stated for the XP version, but I think it should fit the X version, I will confirm whether it will fit the X version once I receive it.
normal one is available in 4 colors.
private one in black and white.
extra strong in black and white
mirror in black and white
I ordered 2 rose gold version, pretty expensive.

yah I will have to try them out at the local sony center on the X, I will get the XP, and I heard it's 1mm differences, but shouldn't affect the screen glass in anyway, just the main frame.
my XP will come with a OEM sony case in pink, it a free gift, it's a shame it's not the flip case, just the covers the sides and back.

I seen that looks same as the cheap ones I got for USD 0.30 each, but without the back film piece.
I highly recommend mediadevil screen protectors the best non tempered glass ones I've found easily last 6mths+
Returned mine tempered glass yesterday. Guy from that store recommended me to use nanotechno-gel ...some kind of liquid glass protector (h9 hard???) I'm consider to apply it. Did anybody here try something like this?
not had any scratching issues despite taking it on a weeks hiking holiday with it in my pocket, that said phone was only thing in my pocket, no coins, keys etc
am looking for a well made tempered glass cover, one i bought was way too small i sent it back.

Interesting, mine is holding up better than most of my previous Xperia phones (no visible scratches yet) with no protection whatsoever
This is the KlearLook tempered glass screen protector I recently bought on Amazon, as you can see there is a thick perfect bubble all the way around the edge which is ever so irritating. Rather than send it back I've kept it as it's doing the job, I may look elsewhere soon for better.

It has glass centered (0.21mm thickness), PET edge and adhesive under the glass and PET, adhesive runs upto about 1.5mm to the edge.
This is for the XP, but it should work for the X, I will have to confirm this later on.

Just a few days ago I bought one full screen coverage and body but the price after tax so crazy, less 26$ for that glass screen protect.

Thought I'd start a thread to see what kind of accessories people regularly use on their Nexus 4, pictures are always welcome.
After using the official and poetic bumpers, aswell as a few cases, I find that using no bumper or case but a rear + front screen protector and pouch gives me the best Nexus 4 experience with full scratch protection and drop protection between use. I just have to not drop it when using it :good:.

I was thinking of getting the Ringke Rearth, I already have two protectors on it but I'd still like to protect it from drops, and the bumper adds too much lip bulk for me, the Rearth looks very petité and just gives added protection tot he back.
Any ideas if it will fit with the protectors or do you think they'll mess with them?

Unrelated, but what mechanical is that OP? I use a Das .

I have a tpu skin case (terrapin) while waiting for a handmade "norêve" flip case. Do you think the screen protector is a must have? I don't have any, because with other phones I never could put it right, and it was a waste of money every single time...
I am using completely naked n4 (no screen protectors) for 2 weeks. Just have a bugatti pouch. Not a single scratch. Since I work most of the day at the computer, I can take care of my nexus. Damn it feels good to have it naked.

The rear glass scratches extremely easily, even if you baby it, you'll get a scratch or a few at one point as it isn't gorilla glass, it's not a big issue for most but for peace of mind I love my Skinomi, it's the first non-cheapo protector I've used and it's extremely easy to apply, as you do so using a liquid which lets you slide it around until you've got it lined up perfectly.
The only downside to the protector is that it takes 1-2 days to fully settle in, but it's near impossible to get bubbles or dust under the protector because of it. Also it seems to be one of the only protectors that follow the curved sides of the phone which is a big plus for me.

So, I just purchased a glass screen protector for my G2. It's no Spigen ultra thin ultra everything... it's a no name, I guess. Acquired from eBay (China-based seller, of course), for about 3.5 bucks (with slow, but free shipping). There's even Chinese written on the packaging, so it's Chinese alright.
Link Dream Glass-Protector. Cleophobic Coated Chemicaily Treated Glass For Mobile Device Screen.
That's the title. And there are numerous typos all across the packaging. They clearly didn't put much effort into that, but they did some parts right.
The scratch resistance is 9H (so nothing else except sand, glass, diamonds etc. should scratch it - I have a feeling that even metals will scratch it, so I doubt it's 9H), and the thickness is 0.33mm (doesn't say on the packaging, but I know).
Anyway. Delicate touch is advertised (on the bottom of the packaging) - they even say it twice in the four images depicted on the packaging, captioned Oleophobic Coating, Delicate Touch, Whole Transparency, Delicate Touch.
-----
Well, they got me with the transparency. It's transparent alright. I can't say much about the oleophobic coating - it feels pretty much like any other Gorilla Glass-coated screen feels... I guess. I mean I never really used any of my phones for more than an hour without a screen protector on, and this is the first time I use a glass screen protector, so...
But they didn't quite get me with the delicate touch part. I thought they mean the sensitivity is high (as it is advertised on every screen protector there is, lol). Actually, by delicate touch they probably just mean that the glass feels nicer to the touch, compared to plastic film protectors. Which is entirely true. It even says on the "box" : Smooth touch: the elimination of common sense jerky film touch, feel smoother, more fluent operation.
I just installed this screen protector a few hours ago, and I noticed I can't knock-knock the phone as delicate as I used to in order to wake up the screen (some times). So I'm guessing there is some sensitivity degradation - it's very slight, but it seems to be present...
Alright, tl;dr time. My question is... Is anyone else here having a glass screen protector on their LG G2? If yes, what brand is it, how thick is it, and have you noticed a slight sensitivity degradation since you installed it?
I purchased the panzer glass tempered glass screen protector for what's equivalent to about 33 dollars. It has been on my phone since early January. Honestly I only used my phone for 6 days with the original screen protector (yes, with all the text and stuff - I still found the screen to be gorgeous). I recall losing a bit of sensitivity, but you'll eventually get used to it. Now, since you only paid 10 percent of what mine cost me, I'd assume it's lower quality.
Tldr
My phone doesn't seem much less sensitive - but maybe a bit.
Having a tempered glass screen protector definitely has a hit on touch screen sensitivity. It is noticeable but doesn't make the device unusable. It is just not as sensitive to touch as something like my iPad.

Yeah it's really expensive.
Not really. It has some really hair-thin scratches but you need to turn the screen off and put it under direct light to even see them.
The only annoyance is that it had a small bubble when I applied it (my fault) and that bubble is now 5 cm tall. Fortunately it's along the far left side so it doesn't bother me
If you don't mind searching for it, I have made a review of it in the G2 accessories.
I purchased a NILKIN glass protector which I put on my phone yesterday. So far I do not feel any difference in touch sensitivity and everything works well. Even the sides are not raised from the screen that much. I'm very happy with this and recommend it to anyone who wants a glass protector. It was under 10 dollars on ebay

Mine already had a few scratches on it. At least I think they were there... because when I applied it, the glass only had one protective film (on the back, where the adhesive is). I guess the manufacturer thought the glass is strong enough to not become scratched during shipping & handling and such. Anyway, the scratches are extremely thin and only become visible when the screen is off and at an angle, under direct, strong light.
I don't have any bubbles. It's weird, because when I applied it (well, my girlfriend actually did - turns out she's good at this, especially if in a steamy room like a bathroom, so there are no dust particles, you know), the glass seated itself only about 5 seconds after me and my girlfriend thought it was installed. I mean we could see the glass sticking to the phone, gradually, you know...
There are some... things... Not exactly bubbles. When I take my phone out of the pocket, I see a lot of horizontal (not 100% horizontal, they are a bit tilted) lines, which go away if I clean the glass with a T-Shirt for example.

I was curious and made a search for it. Found no such thing for the LG G2, but many for other devices. Such as this one. And this one. Since all they advertise is the amazingness of the screen protector, and NOT the thickness of it... I'll assume it's just like the rest : 9H, 0.33mm. So... just like mine... which was less than $4.
I have mine installed from ebay.....i havent noticed a sensitivity loss .....maybe on knock code ..maybe but on other things such as games or even photoshop touch it works flawlessly and with no sensitive loss. Nice. 8 bucks, that's not too much. But shipping anything from the US to Romania is either impossible (for this seller it sure is) either very costly to the point it's not worth it anymore.
I noticed some touchscreen sensitivity degradation yesterday... was walking a long way and was browsing an e-mail via Chrome... scrolling just stopped responding. Had to turn the screen off & on again to regain functionality. Stuff like this happens at least 3 times a day. It's no biggie, but I'm gonna start searching for a better glass screen protector (from China, so I get free shipping).
Case or no case?
Never been for the case. I would always opt for a 9H tempered glass. I've bought both the front and back Nilkin 9H tempered glass and it's been working pretty well for these two months. I recently dropped my z3 on the floor. No damage but the tempered glass did crack. If you don't mind taking away from the beauty of the phone, I would definitely recommend a case. I bought the Ringke clear case at first but it just made the phone look bulkier.
I have a Ringke, but like to use my phone bare, also have front/back glass protectors.
However in corner impacts the glass protectors will be useless as one person already found out, though he did it on purpose to show off .
I have a tempered glass 9H screen protector on the front and when I don't use the phone it lives in a slip case with a pull tab. When I do use it it takes all of a second or two to get it out and it's naked in my hands. I can't stand an ugly case that wraps around a phone. Why would anybody obscure the beautiful design of an item with a case? It makes no sense... Although like I say my compromise is a slip case.
My phone is in absolute mint condition with not a single fine scratch on the back yet so I reckon my system works pretty well for me.
Sent from my D6603 using XDA Free mobile app
No case here either. I just use a lanyard ring. It helps with holding/using the phone with 1 hand. Will probably get some cheap screen protector though because the phone is so slippery.
The phone design is too sexy, why cover it up?
Just a belt case when at work
I don't use a case, but I didn't vote because I don't think it's tough enough. I just don't like cases, they add bulk and ruin the design.
I do use a lanyard/strap though because the entire phone is slippery. I put a Xtremeguard back protector to make it less slippery, but the sides are still slippery as hell. I'm really considering using Plasti Dip on the sides.
I use this method:

Jokes aside, I agree with Shilent. No case or front screen protectors for me--it ruins the design and full experience of the phone. The only thing I would add is a protective sticker on the back so it doesn't slide on the table.
I voted no case, but don't think it would survive a drop....
Lol, Hanime.
Case really does ruin the phone, I only use the Ringke outside, that too occasionaly. After seeing Gorilla Glass 4 adverts by Corning showing 2x increase in impact resistance, espescially rough surfaces. I wish it had released in time for this phone.
Mine is naked now. My cruzerlite case lasted 3 days.

Jokes aside, I agree with Shilent. No case or front screen protectors for me--it ruins the design and full experience of the phone. The only thing I would add is a protective sticker on the back so it doesn't slide on the table.

You should consider a tempered glass screen protector if you hate stickers. It's incomparable to the old idea of a plastic film protector.
It's 100% invisible and makes the screen look unbelievably beautiful while offering great protection if u should drop it.

How does something invisible make something look beautiful?
It won't add much protection to dropping your phone either, especially if it lands on the side of the device.
Carrying it naked absolutely out of the question for me.
I sell my phones every 2 months. Resale value is paramount, so I wont risk a small scratch or dent.
Yes the phone's design is sexy. However IMHO, using casemate tough case somehow adds to its beauty while adding more grip to it.
i'm using case right now, but a super thin 0.33mm clear TPU one . just for that extra safety feel
No case, because I know what the phone looks like, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks it looks like, and I want some protection against both drops and scratching from being in a pocket/general wear and tear over the 2 or 3 years I'm going to have it.
No case here! Just using a glass protector on the front and naked on the back because I couldn't find any.
I just hate the fact that my glass protector has cut outs for the sensors, doesn't fully cover around the speakers and has a cut out for the NOTIFICATION LIGHT. Seriously, wtf
Ok, now I just have a glass screen protector on the back and nothing on the front. I've been getting some scratches on back, so I need something on it.

God what a stupid reply. Firstly, because it's just another layer of glass it's pretty much invisible - but because it's glossy and of a high quality it compliments the resolution of the screen and makes it look really good.
Just look up some videos on YouTube where they are reviewed or something.
Also it protects the screen against drops - in almost every drop the screen protector shatters leaving the screen in mint condition. There are even a few videos where they are hit with a hammer and it's the screen protector that shatters, not the screen.
Erica Griffin did the same test. But for now, look at this:

I'm sorry, I was unware the glass on the front of our screen wasn't glossy and of high quality to begin with. Silly me.
I'm going to go buy a glass screen protector now so I can have beautiful display now.
Never did I say the glass screen protectors were nice, I use them myself.
If you read my post carefully I specifically said it's not going to protect it from a side impact, which it's not.
I swear, people get more retarded everyday.

I have an Ultimate Shield glass protector and it has only three cut outs... The two speakers (onbiously) and the sensor just to the left of the Sony logo. Everything else including camera and notification light works through the protector. This one is 9H hardness. Which one do you have then?

I have owned the phone for 2 weeks and have some really horrible scratches on the screen already. I really don't feel the screen should scratch this easily as I have never experienced this with a phone before.
The phone has been in a case since day 1 that elevates it if placed face down. Additionally I have not dropped the phone at all. The phone always goes straight to my pocket by itself facing my leg. I checked for dirt in my pockets and there is none that I can ever feel. I really don't understand how this is happening. The scratches are extremely noticeable in direct light and do not resemble microscratches, but thick scratches. I feel as if this glass is defective or something with how quickly and seemingly easily it has scratched.
Is there anything I can do to exchange the phone, buff the scratches, or get rid of them?
Here are some photos of the scratches, granted the camera doesnt really capture it as well.

Yes it is not normal at all, did you put the phone in the sand or something like that, because i don't know if Samsung cover this damage. If it was on the phone at the opening of the box, the warranty can be used i think.

It was not on the phone when opening the box and no it has not shown any signs of sand on it. Just scratches appearing.
The scratches cannot appears like that, something has scratched your phone, I have it for 1 month and there is ont a single scratch on the screen, it's really strange...
2 weeks, as new.

I always got the latest flagship phone from Samsung, Apple, and Google. I am not using any screen protector, just a very thin back cases at 0.35mm. Micro scratches are present in all devices all around the screen but barely noticeable even in bright lighting like on mornings outdoor. Only visible at certain lighting and when you really looked for those scratches. If you do not want those micro scratches or glass scratches, then use a screen protector. Phone screens are mostly glass and not pure sapphires to not be scratched (except using diamonds). There is no way for phones with glass screens to be at 100% smoothness for a long time without using a screen protector unless you are not using it. Also, you won't use your phone forever anyway. You'll eventually upgrade after let's say 2 years maybe so why not just use it as it is.

I think the original posters comment was meant to supplement several other posters on this forum to suggest that for some reason the glass on this particular flagship phone seems to be more susceptible to scratches than previous models

Well i don't think so. I have used almost all flagships from apple, samsung, and nexus phones as my daily driver and It all got micro scratches after 2-3days of using it without a screen protector. I am careful with using my phone and not putting it on my bag without a towel or soft cloth covering the phone and when putting it on my pocket sometimes, i am making sure it's clean and nothing on it, just the phone.

We can agree to disagree. I also don't think you should judge anybody on this forum just by nature of their post - I'm sure he and I are just as careful as you are but that doesn't mean we are in any way negligent for the scratches that seem to have appeared on our phones versus you

What i was saying is that, it's not that we are not careful or it's not that the phone is bad. It's just the way it is. Use a screen protector and your phone screen will be smooth. Don't use a screen protector and your phone screen will eventually have scratches. Not because you are not careful but that's just how it is. It's not made to be scratch proof, just scratch resistant.

That I completely agree with you although I must tell you several screen protectors especially for the curved glass are nowhere near as smooth as the original glass on the phone itself and you can include the film protectors for sure - thank you for keeping it civil.

There is actually, the official screen protector from samsung. Not a tempered glass, but a curved film that will fit up to the edges of the phone. It does not involve wet aplplication btw, just apply as normal screen protector. Also, i have seen one film screen protector that sticks up to the back of the phone (not the whole back) and it's definitely not gonna peel off as the screen protector does not end on the edges, but on the back which is quite clever i think so that the protector will really be protected up to its edges and it will not peel off at the same time. It's a very thin film so cases will still fit.

I´ve never had a scratch with iphones before, for years, obviously not counting when my iphone 5s fell to the floor
It scratches at level 6 on the hardness scale which is pretty typical of high-end smartphones. Saying "my previous phones never scratched" is like saying "I never had an accident in my previous cars" after having an accident in your current one and then blaming the manufacturer. .

]I purchased this glass screen protector back when the S9 Plus was originally released and it worked great. I loved it. BUT, I had some issues with Dropped Calls on my S9 Plus and had to return the phone. I just received the replacement phone and I had no trouble making the decision to getting the OTAO glass screen protector again.
I was very surprised and pleased to discover that they had made some additional improvements to what already was an awesome glass screen protector. From what I understand, they added additional adhesvive around the edges. NO this is not a full screen adhesive, but I found that It really doesn't need full screen adhesive to be effective. I have installed this screen protector and use a case (Ringke Fushion) and it works GREAT.
No loss in touch responsiveness - no issues at all - They do inlcude a plastic guide that helps to facilitate proper installation and I have found that the plastic guides really do help to insure the screen protector is placed properly - perfectly centered on the screen.
So I give my highest reccomendations for the OTAO Glass Screen Protector - NEW AND IMPROVED.

I don't have pictures yet - but will get some taken when my wife gets home (or maybe tomorow) the link is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079JV6ZYF/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It has adhesive on the edges only - but it holds very well - No lift at all from the case I am using and the case rides up pretty high on the corners and the edges and doesn't cause any issues at all. The glass seems to be full coverage from what I can tell. It is a very good screen protector..
How is touch sensitivity with this protector? Do you need to increased touch sensitivity in the settings to use it well?
Found this one on amazon... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07B...l+adhesive&dpPl=1&dpID=41RhK1whyLL&ref=plSrch
If it's not full adhesive don't waste your money. Honestly people, I wasted so much money trying to find one for the S7 EDGE two years ago.

Touch sensitivity is great and no, I did not change the touch sensitivity frm whatever the default settings were. It is now day three - I have the S9 Plus in a Case (RIngke Crystal Fusion) and I have had ZERO problems with the OTAO Glass Screen Protector.
Honestly, I don't have a problem with glass screen protectors that don't offer full adhesives on the glass. The manufacturers like OTAO have learned to put the right amount of adhesive around the edges (there is more now than that they used to put on them a long time ago) and with the plastic GUIDE they provide to help you install the glass properly, there are considerably less issues than way back when curved screens were first out.
the key to glass screen protectors working on curved screens is proper placement. The screen protector has to be exactly centered on the screen. if it is too far to one side or another (even by only a little) that is when you have issues with the case pushing up on the screen or poor responsiveness when typing or whatever.
PLACEMENT - it is absolutely critical. That's why having the plastic guide included with the OTAO (and other similar glass screen protectors) helps to insure a good installation and quality protection that is really affordable.
Guys I bought the same screen protector. Here's some photos in the Poetic Revolution case. I'll add my thoughts. The screen protector is very nice. The tray guard made it pretty easy to install. Its not a full adhesive protector so the glue is around the sides. Make sure when installing you press hard around all the black edges to make it seal better. Its a dot matrix protector but the dots aren't easily seen so it must be a newer type. Make sure to turn up the screen sensitivity for screen protectors in the settings and it makes it like its not even there. The edges really smooth right over the sides. The one I had on my pixel 2 xl didn't do this and had sharper edges and made dust stick to them. This one is so much better. It also fits perfectly inside the Poetic Revolution case with the built-in protector popped out.

The ESR I have is nice, but the glue strip can be seen on the sides. Although it is "clear", you can still see it and touch sensitivity sucks even with the enhanced option on. I will return it and try another one.

IMHO all edge based adhesive glass protectors are a waste of your valuable money. Stick with TPU wet / dry film or maybe Whitestone Dome LOCA based tempered glass protectors.

You are entitled to your opinion - frankly I have found that many edge only screen protectors work really well. It's all about getting it installed properly - I don't see glue on the edges of the one I am using - and don't get dust there either. I haven't changed settings at all and touch sensitivity and responsiveness is great. Absolutely no complaints.
(now I have tried some edge only protectors that sucked - they click when you type on the keyboard or wouldn't let you type the letters on the far left or right) but when the manufacturers started including guides for installation and increased the glue around the edges, the quality of many of them ended up getting much better.

I installed a Glass Screen Protector from OTAO as soon as my S9 Plus arrived today and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the fit and quality of this glass screen protector.
It is the XLAMBO version - extra thick glass that essentially makes it much harder to crack when you drop your phone. Installation was very easy with the included plastic guide and I lose absolutely no responsiveness at all - the screen works as well as it did before I installed the Otao Glass Screen protector.
I also installed a case with this Screen Protector and there is zero interference from the case at all, it doesn't raise the glass up at the corners or sides like some other glass screen protectors have had problems with. and the price was very reasonable - under $12 bucks. Of course they include a full warranty so you don't have to worry if the glass does crack while protecting your phone.
The glass screen protector comes down very close to the sides of the phone, giving you full coverage - with a case on, it seems and feels like there is no space at all, all the way around the phone, top, bottom, sides and corners.
I am using the RINGKE Clear Fusion Case but I am confident it will work a bunch of other cases as well
