How to unlock Xperia Z1 Compact bootloader when bootloader unlock allowed says NO? p.s. phone is NOT locked to carrier, working with all carriers but simlock status on all networks have zeros. What's the reason for damn unlocking status?
1. Did you hear that "NO means NO"?
Wikipedia explains the term.
Yet - you may get BL unlocked if you are ready to pay.
Money can do miracles, nothing new in it.
2. Read forum unless you understand difference between simlock and bootloader statuses. All this was described here 1000+ times.

Although I've understood and done several things talked about on these forums I'm doing so without knowing what and why I'm doing some things, so hopefully a few simple ones. I'd appreciate a couple of someones minutes (I've had a searching spree but tbh the boolean searches blow for some reason)
1) What does CID stand for and what is it?
2) I'm in the UK and assuming it amounts to what we call a "Sim Lock" where an airtime provider (T-Mobile, O2 etc.) lock the phone to only accept their sim cards. Is this what it is or is it more complicated?
3) It is a requirement to unlock the CID before flashing new roms, I've unlocked mine and flashed a radio rom. Are the rom and CID tied together somehow?
4) I unlocked mine (T-Mobile UK MDA Vario), with aWizard. I've since seen lokiwiz unlocks CID. Is this simply 2 programs doing exactly the same thing?
5) Is the CID unlock a one shot deal, it remains unlocked regardless of soft and hard resets?
6) Can CID be reset to on in case of a return being necessary?
Thx in advance for any input.
I have an 1.3 rev Samsung Focus. It was an unlocked model I got from outside. I was in the US at the time of Mango update and updated my phone with Mango from AT&T. Now I have moved out of the US and want to unlock it. AT&T doesn't have the unlock code because I didnt purchase it from them. Any Ideas on what I can do? Will a custom ROM help me with Unlock? When I check lock status, it is SIM Lock is Disabled, only Network lock is enabled.
I'm not sure what you meant by "It was an unlocked model" in the context of "out of the US and want to unlock it". Was it unlocked or locked? Anyway:
Read the wiki, (carrier) locks are in NVRAM, no relation to flashing whatsoever, so any custom ROM won't SIM unlock your phone.
Have you tried ebay? Unlock is cheap as $1 and it doesn't hurt to try (unlock via IMEI - I unlocked AT&T and Rogers Focuses). If that fails, I recommend fastgsm, I've unlocked my own AT&T Focus with them, via USB (no affiliation).

It was carrier unlocked, as in I could place any sim in the phone and it would work. After I updated it on my Zune with Mango, it was loaded with AT&T's version and hence locked to AT&T. Now AT&T doesn't have the record of the IMEI in their database and aren't able to provide me with an unlock code. They were able to provide the unlock code for my other windows phone that I purchased from AT&T. Thereby lies my predicament. Let me try the ebay version, if not I hope FastGSM works. Thanks.
I was not able to get the unlock code from ebay. But FastGSM seemed to work wonders. I used their USB unlocking tool and it worked just fine. Thanks for the tip.
The whole unlocking process is different between the iPhone and Android devices. Obviously. I've always understood that once you get your iPhone unlocked and if you plug it into iTunes it'll inform you that your phone is unlocked. Now for Android devices such as the S4, how does the whole unlocking deal work? If I'm currently on CM10.2, can I put any SIM card into my phone and it'll work or do I still have to get an unlock code?
Carrier unlock is not related to the firmware you flash. You can change all the ROMs you want, if your phone is carrier-lock, it will remain lock unless you carrier-unlock it. You can look-up the forums for unlocking methods. I am not sure if anyone of them still works after the latest updates.
Greetings!
During some googling I have found an interesting Sony patent, which describe the procedure of a phone sim unlock and bootloader unlock.
Probably it could be usefull for someone.
I have quite a few devices which appear on the LineageOS site as "no longer officially supported", such as the BQ paella device.
With these devices (quite annoyingly) you can't download images anymore and have to go and hunt for them on archive sites, but at least you can still build it yourself.
In fact I think it would be possible for someone to take on such a device and resurrect it.
The Kagura doesn't even appear on the unsupported list. Was it never supported by Lineage? I'm a bit surprised by this.
What is the best, most stable Lineage based ROM out there? preferably Lineage based? Is there one with source code available?
My son's one is acting up. It doesn't respond to inbound phone calls, and on querying the network for call forward status it says "SIM error". Putting the SIM into a different phone works perfectly so I think Sony has messed up something.
I think it's time for a custom ROM. 8.0 based is fine. It just needs to work.
I have compiled/built from source for other devices so I'm not frightened to do so with this one.
Any suggestions?
For the time being I won't be able to put a custom ROM on this
I followed these instructions https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/get-started/unlock-bootloader
at the end of the instructions "Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked."
I have "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"

I suspect that it's because it's operator SIM locked.
Apparently I can unlock it myself with a tool called qunlocktool, but when I downloaded it my antivirus got quite excited.
I will contact the operator next week and ask them to unlock it. I had this phone from new so I think that they have to.
