Cell Broadcast on Xperia M? - Networking

Hello everyone,
My problem is that I can't see any opinion for receiving cell broadcast/emergency alert messages on my Xperia M.
I didn't find any settings relating for this function neither at Messages -> Settings nor General settings menu.
I downloaded cellbroadcast.apk and enabled to install any apps in settings, security but there was an error during install:
"Application not installed" (I had enabled Settings -> Security -> Unknown sources but it didn't work)
What's the problem with it? I know it is a minor and hardly used function but I'd like to add it. There are some phones which have this function.
Should my phone be rooted ?
How can I enable receiving cell broadcast messages? Or how can I install this app? There must be a way toactivate this function. Thank you for your answer.

Internet Calling - How to enable?

Standard Android supports internet calling; Call > Setting > Internet Calls
Samsung sometimes disable it in some regions via CSC feature.
/csc/features.xml : <CscFeature_Contact_EnableIPCall>true</CscFeature_Contact_EnableIPCall>
Enables SIP calls, but it doesn't seem to be working on my Note 4.
Do any of you have internet calling enabled? If yes, can you post your /csc/features.xml file?
Thanks.
anyone got a solution for this?
I believe this should help. did for me

I can't download it from play ... i suspect it doesn't work on lollipop and the developer made the choice to block it for lollipop devices ...
i'll search the apk and try it ...
but i guess the apk is playing with the settings too, maybe someone could give a hint on what and where to change in the settings
thanx for the answer!
wifi sucks too since lollipop ...
Hi guys
internet call works fine on Note 4
if you create a contact with a SIP profile (like [email protected] - may be done online and synchronized) and try to call it then you receive an error and the setting to add any SIP accounts open. register and call works fine.
after my test i removed all SIP accounts in order to force the error again and enter the menu.
I guess if i don't remove all those accounts the the menu is vanished forever.
I wasn't able to activate the setting for allow to receive calls.
So...
It works but the menu-entries are disabled. Shame on you Samsung!
My hope One of you freaksters and androidteers can do something however to enable those two entries in the call settings menu.
live long and prosper
Ben
PS
You can remove the SIP accounts as long as you can open the setting in the "history" but better kill after your experiments
any news on this one ?

How do you manage to remove your SIP account ?
I manage to have SIP enabled with CSipSimple : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.csipsimple
But the calls to mobiles don't work.
EDIT : Damned ! That was tough !
I managed to launch the SIP settings window with adb.
This is the command
Code:
adb shell am start -n "com.android.phone/com.android.services.telephony.sip.SipSettings"
And you're done !
The settings window for adding an account is here. You can now delete/add acounts
You can install Quick Shortcuts Maker too. Look for "sip" in the normal search. There's only one answer.
But better, search for "account" and create a shortcut to Phone Account Settings. You can now choose to receive the calls, define which account must be used for calls, create/delete/modify accounts.
If you install Nova Launcher you can access loads of hidden functions, including Phone Account Settings. To do this you add a Nova widget called Activities, scroll down to Phone (third instance with 96 sub-entries), and from the list of sub-entries select Phone Account Settings. Then use the shortcut it creates to access SIP account settings, and voila.

Hi there!
Thanks for reaching out about this. Note that you need to enable "Show notifications" within your phone settings > Apps > Truecaller > Show notification "on".
PS: Look if you can enable Truecaller within your native settings > "Security". Some devices require this in order for an application to run in the background.
Alternative is > Security app > Speed up > Start up booster> Truecaller > Speedup > ignore list > Check Truecaller.

Enable built in SIP on marshmallow?

Hey guys,
I work at a company where we use a lot PBX to communicate through branches.
I would like to know if there is any way to be able to enable the built in SIP feature of older os and use it on marshmallow.
Thank you in advance.
Yes, SIP is still there, just hidden (German DBT Firmware)
Install Activitylauncher from Playstore and search for "Phone account settings" (Phone -> settings.PhoneAccountSettingsActivity)
Or with NovaLauncher add a Widget, select Activity .....
@till69 thank you it works fine on S7 edge italian FW! Now I can dismiss my S5, I hate mobile operators that ask to hide this functionality.
Look here. The problem is solved for the Z5C. May be it's the same for your phone.
Sony Z5C SIP accounts back

Phone ringing but not showing anything

When someone is calling i can only hear ringtone but i get nothing on screen.
I flashed Incallui multiple times, but i still can't see anything when someone is calling me, only ringtone.
When i try to call someone i get call not sent
Recently i hardly debloated my phone, could that be it?
I still have incallui in place where it should be, so what could this be?
I have the same problem and it solved some minutes ago. It is because of "notification of phone app" that was blocked by some unknown reason.
U can change it in settings > apps > on the menu select "show system apps" > phone > notification.
Hope work for you too.
Thanks
Open Kids Mode and see if there is an update pending. Update kids mode and restart the phone. Issue will be resolved.
Good Luck
Sandeep
Just Open call Log the go to option --> Settings--> there u will get Call Log Updation Option …
UPDATE... Hope this will Help u

Force enabling Google's Jibe RCS in Samsung Messages

2021 - FINAL UPDATE: A new method is out! Check out the new thread!
UPDATE 2: /u/poptamale on Reddit found a possible solution! Check it out.
UPDATE: With Android 11, you can't acess the IMS Settings menu (Step 8) on Snapdragon devices only. Let's hope someone finds a new way soon! (Exynos is still ok).
Hello everyone.
I was able to enable RCS on my Galaxy S20+ (EXYNOS) and make it possible to chat with people using Google Messages. So that means I connected to Google's Jibe RCS.
These are the steps I followed to make it work (must follow step-by-step):
1. Download and install Google Messages.
2. Open Google Messages and enable Chat Features.
3. Download and install Carrier Services.
4. Download and install Phone by Google.
5. After confirming that Chat Features have been enabled in Google Messages, launch Samsung Messages.
6. Set Samsung Messages back to the default Messaging app.
---
EXYNOS only:
7. Launch Phone by Google. Set it as default Dialler app.
8. At the dialler, type: *#*#467#*#* or *#77467#
9. IMS Settings will open automatically.
SNAPDRAGON only: (thanks to /u/poptamale)
7. Download and install any Activity Launcher from the Play Store. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rrivenllc.shieldx).
8. Search for IMS Settings.
9. Go to "Activities" and tap on the first option to open IMS Settings.
---
10. Go to "IMS Service Switch". Turn on "RCS Switch". Turn on all the features under the "RCS" category.
11. Go back. Go to "RCS Configuration". Make sure both options are set to "Always Connect".
12. Allow the permissions for Carrier Services and Samsung Messages.
13. Force stop and Clear data for Carrier Services and Samsung Messages.
14. Open Samsung Messages and check if "Chat settings" or "Advanced messaging settings" have appeared in Settings.
15. Restart your device!
16. Open Samsung Messages and wait 2-5minutes.
17. Samsung Messages has been connected to Google Jibe. Congratulations!
18. You may uninstall Google Messages and Phone by Google. Don't uninstall Carrier Services.
19. Tell your friends to install Google Messages, so you can chat through RCS!
I also made a video version of these steps:
The difference of this method with the others, is that it doesn't permanently disable (except when updating OS). In the cases when it disconnects, it will just connect again later (automatically). And most important, you can contact through the carrier's and Google's RCS at the same time.
I hope Samsung updates their Messages app, so we won't have to keep doing all this.
Please, let me know if it works for your devices, too. We can share with each other information and even improve this guide.
Thank you for your time!
I've been doing this for the past few months, with the only exception being that I didn't have to install either carrier services or Google messages. I'd just install phone by Google and do the aforementioned steps, followed by a restart and everything would work.
Interesting, what is preventing Samsung from officially supporting RCS then?
Doesn't work on S20 Exynos with OneUI 3. Chat option disappears each time.
Do you have a solution to get RCS all the time ?

The chat may disable/renable temporarily some times. It will disable permanently if you update the software or change the default messages app.
Did you switch to Samsung Messages as default before enabling RCS in IMS Settings?
in my samsung messages i can see people that also have RCS (they have little blue bubble next to their avatar), but when i go into settings, i don't quite have the same options as you do in your video.
for example, i don't have "Shared Image Quality", "Shared Video Quality", and "Select default messaging type" in my samsung messages options. another interesting thing, is that after downloading Carrier Services, the "Force Close" button is greyed out and i can't force close it. i also can't clear the cache on it as it is also greyed out. restarted the phone and the same thing.
now, some new features did show up in my settings like the "chat settings" option where i have "multimedia limit", "nickname in chats", "send read receipt", and "share typing indications" in there. but that's it. also, when i disable "chat features" in google messages settings, i still have the extra "chat settings" options in my samsung messages. so enabling anything through google messages doesn't seem to do anything. google phone app is the only one that seems to do anything. i'm on factory unlocked Galaxy S20 and on Tmobile carrier in the US and i'm still on Android 10
I tried this on a tmobile s21 ultra. For some reason access is denied for IMS settings for me. No activity launcher I tried was able to actually launch that activity.
Any suggestions?
Didnt work on S20 988B Exynos CUA8 VAU.
-IMS setting didn't appear with google phone.
-Used Alliance Shield X but still it didnt show in Samsung Messages.
