Why don't you just use an SD card install? Unless you broke the slot..

What did you do to make it unable to boot from sd? What program did you use to make the card and did you make sure to run as admin?

ok so I recently updated my Samsung galaxy s4 i337 to 4.4.2 NC1 and rooted it.. although I'm having a problem installing a ROM on it..
every time I go to CWM recovery I cannot install an update from internal memory, which is where my phone automatically puts downloaded files in. I've looked all over for a way to moves files from internal memory to external sd card but I haven't been able to find a method that works so I finally decided to make an account on xda and ask.. so weather there is a way to move the .zip files (the rom and gapps) to my external sd card, or another method to installing custom ROMs, please help :/
Look at root explorer.

yes...I'm sure I'm rooted.
I have a feeling that the answer must be already out there somewhere but for the life of me I can't locate it.
I have a 128GB micro SD in my (stock rooted) S5. The problem is that I can't delete files from it via the phone. It used to delete okay but not any more.
They delete okay if I use the card elsewhere, including my Nexus 7 2013 using a card reader, but won't delete using the phone.
I've tried doing it with several apps, including the stock My Files, with no success.
I tried reformatting the card and trying again, but it made no difference. (The card is exFAT).
Anyone?
Can anyone help with this please

Try this to resolve the problem this is using Windows 7 not sure about Windows XP but it will be similar
Remove the card from the phone and plug into your computer, click the Start button > then click Computer.
Right click on the card link and select Format (this will wipe the card so copy any files you want to keep to your PC first)
When the process has finished highlight the card link again and at the top of the window click Properties then Tools, then under Error Checking click Check Now, there should be no errors due to the format but run the check anyway.
Once this is compete right click on the card link again then from the option click Eject, it wont physically eject the card but it will disconnect it from the computer, then remove it, put it back in the phone, boot the phone up as normal.
Write a file (Copy a file or folder to the SD Card) using the stock My Files or by plugging your phone into your computer and copying a file across from there, once copied to the card, try to delete it using the stock My Files app, if this works then your card should work properly.

Thanks and Hello from a fellow Scarborian. :good:
I've already tried a reformat but it hasn't worked.
Given that the card works fine in all my other devices the problem seems to be with the S5's relationship with the card rather than the card itself.
If you are rooted, grab TWRP manager from Play store, and load it up as if you are going to install TWRP, but only follow the "Patch SDCard" part and reboot
Install Busybox first before running TWRP Manager

Tried using FAT32 for the card format?
Give this a try too

Open up build.prop in /system/ and edit this line
ro.securestorage.support=true
to
ro.securestorage.support=false
Reboot

If I get desperate I'll try another card reformat at some time but I really think it's something to do with the phone rather than the card, given that the card works okay elsewhere. (It's a nearly-full 128GB card and I don't have the time at the moment.)
I edited the build.prop line but still not deleting.
I'm out of ideas for now then, i`ll post back if I come across anything
Good luck

It will copy and move okay. It's just deleting that seems to be the problem.
Long shot but you can try flashing a zip file from here. It worked beautifully for me but I had move /copy problem also

Have you tried different SD Cards in the S5?
Is the issue only with this 128GB card?

Suggest strongly to flash that zip which I referred to.
As I recall, it is expected to restore rights to the way Android is supposed to function in his words. Please flash and though the zip is named cwm something, can be flashed with TWRP...I did it

check where did you place those files internal SD or external SD card. you might not see folders in internal SD until you factory format your phone from recovery itself, but if you don't want to format your phone then copy zip files to external SD, it works fine
LOL ))))))

It's been a long time since I've had a phone with a micro SD card slot. I got this phone today and popped in a Samsung Evo Select 64gb microSDXC UHS-I card when I put the sim card in. What do I have to do to make the phone see the card? I expected to see it when I sent into "storage" in settings but it only shows the internal storage.

Don't do that, just use a format SD card tool for your pc, like this one:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
Can you see the SD in the disk management section? ( Assuming you are on a Windows PC)

No. It's not listed in the disk management section.
I had the same problem with a similar Samsung SD. They sent a new one in about a week.
Got my replacement a couple days ago. Popped it in and blam it worked.

Hope it's not too much to ask if I can know how you returned it. I've started to have this issue myself recently, and I tried two sdcards and it seems that it reads it as corrupted
