Screen Replacement WITH Speaker Grills - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, a LOT of the screen replacements I've seen on ebay, amazon, etc don't come with the speaker grills. The only one I've seen that does is https://www.fixez.com/store/motorol...moto-x-pure-display-assembly-with-frame-black
Are there any other stores that sell the display assemblies with the speaker grills? I'm gonna purchase this but if this retailer isn't a trustworthy one I'd like to have a backup plan. I hear the grills are really hard to get back in.

eTradeSupply. Bought screens for iPhone 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and the Pure, and never had a problem with them, although their shipping is kind of high.
They sell the screen with the housing and grills attached.

Busted Outer Glass of LCD

Well I dropped my G1 the other day and it busted the outer glass part. The LCD is fine and it still works perfect. I have looked everywhere, with no luck of finding any parts for them. So I called HTC and they told me 150-250 to replace the glass!! So I was wondering if any one know anyone that does G1 Repair or if anyone know of another phone that has more ava. parts for it with a 3.17" Screen? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Nope, I got AT&T. Was thinking of taking apart the phone and getting the glass measurements and having a custom cut piece of glass.
i believe its a special type of glass
Pretty much stuck buying the glass from HTC on this one ...sorry
PS... it is glass
iphone 3g - Dream lcd
I read that the same screen is in use on the iphone 3g, I doubt its true they probably meant type or sumthin, maybe worth a check...
on the old palm pdas you could replace just the glass if the layer under it isn't damaged, this may no longer be possible with these screens, once the bigtime flashing begins there will be lots of bricks available pretty cheap, maybe you should keep an eye out for somebody who pooched the dev bootloader install then after you convince them they killed it you could buy it maybe for less than the HTC price...
gotta say, that sucks if you were a tmob customer you'd have a few options...

Hello. Don't you think It's weird that it happened to me too today?
I've never had a broke phone since my Nokia 8210.
Well, some idiot had placed out one of those kinds of plastic bands you use to seal packages with, a black one.
It was pitch dark and I fell as the plastic ring got snared around my feet. Obviously my Jabra bt3030 got pushed against the screen and it got severely cracked.
My insurance company seems to be covering the whole phone except a small sum. This was from the phone part, but I got to see if I can get something from the health insurance as I hit my head and scratched my hand (though not likely but I can always try)
The touch seems to work most of the time, though it reacts slowly but some times It's just dead.
This really sucks.
I'm dead serious when I'm talking that there was no way that the band could be seen when walking.

It is glass. But you can not simply cut a piece of glass to the same dimension as the touchscreen is integrated into the glass cover. So yes you will need to get a htc or aftermarket replacement part.
The interesting thing is that the repair cost you quoted is identical to the cost of the copay if you go with the Asurion device insurance T-mo offers. So device insurance would just be a waste of money at $5 a month if you end up with broken glass.
Looks like I will just have to hold onto it until aftermarket parts come out. I busted mine by letting it slip out of my hand while talking on it....then it took a 6ft fall to eventually land face first on concrete.....I didnt even wanna pick it up cause i new it was messed up and if it wasnt I was gonna call HTC and give them props! I have a ava. upgrade from AT&T Maybe get a Iphone until this one gets fixed then sale iphone on ebay for 5x wuts its worth.
The iphone's screen seems to crack pretty nice as well.
I hope changing the glass on the G1 isn't as frustrating as on the Iphone.

Cracked screen replacement with compatible HW from third party --when?
I cracked the LCD of my G1 after about three weeks and have noted that neither PPCTechs nor MobileKangaroo have yet acquired a source for the replacement screen.
My understanding is that HTC currently charges what one thread in another forum (http://www.allshadow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4226) quoted as "a minimum of $238.00" to make this repair.
I expect this repair to be offered soon by third parties for about $150, likely using a non-HTC screen product to replace the damaged one.
Has anyone heard any reports about forthcoming availability of such hardware? If so, then are there any non-HTC services to make the replacement?
yeah im looking for this too...i dropped mine and then proceeded to step on it day two with the phone.

This waht i found out
so have the same issue and this is what I found out
so from my understanding there are 2 part to the lcd the outer glass touch sensor and the inner lcd. if the the screen is just cracked and you can see the image the u have to replace both. attached are the part descriptions fromt he g1 service manual. and below is a link of a site that sells them, but for some reason they sell the touch scrren with the outer bezel making it cost more. i called htc to order just the touch sensor glass but they said the dont sell replacements, they just fix em

I contacted the seller of the screen and he/she told me that It's only the screen. If the G1 cracks It's the digitizer glass that cracks first. Then if you are unlucky the screen cracks as well. I managed to only crack the digitizer glass. The screen beneath is totally fine. Unfortunately removing the glass from the digitizer plastic was very painful and I managed to wreck the flat cable of the digitizer so that's beyond repair. Now I tried to disassemble the whole phone but I got stuck at removing the housing. First I had problems with the Torx bits. I have some Torx bits in my sets but the lowest I got was T8. I had to buy a cellphone bits set with a lot of different types of bits. It had Torx all the way down to T4. The T5 and T6 was what I needed. There are 4 T5 to remove and one T6. I have inserted the sharp plastic between the housing and the top case and released all hooks but it seems the front and back part of the housing of the phone is dead stuck.
You have to open the whole damn phone from the back to get to the inside of the screen. Why the screen housing uses standard Philips is also beyond me. I have lots of bad experience with standard Philips screws. The heads always get bad after a while of screwing. I have yet to have a problem with Torx.

[Q] Cost for LG Replacement of Front Screen

Well, dropped the phone from the car dock and it hit the dash and the front screen cracked and spidered on the bottom half of the phone and it doesn't work. I tried to contact LG about an estimate on how much it would cost to replace the LCD and digitizer on the phone, but the best they will tell me is that I have to ship it to them on my dime and then wait for them to then tell me how much it will cost to repair the phone. I really don't want to waste my money shipping it if it's going to be something like $200+.
Does anybody have first hand knowledge on how much they charge for a new lcd / digitizer replacement on the Nexus 4 with LG doing it?
Bonus Question: What's the cheapest way to ship it to them, considering I have the original case and taking into account different packaging and shipping carriers?
It's been a while since you posted this, so you probably already took care of it. I just sent mine to LG for a screen replacement and they charged $140. Shipped via Fedex. I sent the phone in the box it came in, but I didn't get the box back.
How is the work they do? I have been thinking of using my warranty and having them replace the screen rather than play the play store lottery. Screen was really yellow when I got it which I didn't care about as it clears. Unfortunately after 2 weeks it cleared but has a slightly visible yellow glue ring on the lower half that gets very visible and manilla color when the phone heats up. I sat the phone down and noticed at can angle that light bends around the ring area... The screen is slightly indented like a car ding.
I absolutely don't want to waste stock and deal with Google sending me a worse phone. I love this one... Everything perfect but the glue ring. Can you guys share your experience having lg repair? I did the same thing with my n10 for screen issues with Samsung and it came back with a worse screen and scratched up on the back. Had to send it right back. Would not like to repeat that experience with LG.
Did they nick up the edges of the soft touch plastic or scuff up your keys or the back glass? How long was the turnaround? Any help is appreciated.
Sent from my 5th and final Nexus 4

Crap. Need phone replacement/repair options.

My S4 screen got two hairline cracks about a month ago and expanded a little. The phone was working fine but this was bugging me. I went to Amazon and purchased a new OEM replacement glass (cost me $4; skeptical on the OEM claims). Anyway I removed the old glass successfully with a heat gun and a plastic iPhone tool and removed all the old adhesive off.
Being stupid I peeled the black adhesive and balled it up. I went to put on the new glass and I realized the new glass doesn't come with adhesive on it. After installing it I then realized that I actually cracked the LCD (I guess from the pressure when I was pressing a bit on the glass to make contact with the adhesive I thought came on the glass). Anyway, my phone doesn't turn on now (screen is dead) although the phone still works. I removed the screen again and threw everything in a box.
I'm without my personal phone now and I'm stuck using my company phone for the time being for personal stuff. I looked at Amazon and the replacement LCD is $200. I'm not on a contract with this phone and don't want to sign a contract with AT&T or I lose my current minute package I have. I purchased this device from Craigslist from some guy for $400 a couple of months back.
What is the best route to repair this? Keep in mind I don't have insurance since I purchased this outright. This is the 32GB model. Should I just sell it AS-IS on Craigslist? How much should I ask?
By the way I think Gorilla Glass is BS. My phone fell about 4 inches on the ground and got two cracks.

Sell it as-is, ask around $150 - $200... someone who knows how to fix it will gobble it up. Take that money and spend a little extra and buy a Nexus 5 from Google. At least this is what I'd do...
If you really intend on keeping it.

Agreed. I'd rather have the Nexus 5 anyway.
Really sorry to hear about your phone though. I personally wouldn't risk replacing the LCD, you may break something else while inside..
If anybody wants to buy it let me know via PM. If not, I'll just hang on to it until the S5 comes out. I'm sure the price of the LED screen will drop.
I purchased another S4 (16GB model in White). It sucks because the broken one is a 32GB.
Update: Sold the phone to some guy who owns a cell phone shop for $175. Not bad.

Touchscreen broken : any experience with replacements ?

Hi,
First i am sorry if there is already a topic like this one but i was unable to find it. Feel free to just point at it and be approprately mean with me.
My N4 fell on the back and the touchscreen does not respond correctly anymore (a 2cm high band in the middle is unresponsive, jsut where i should validate my pin code). I would like to know if you know fair prices, high quality screen replacements. The original part from LG is 120 EUR according to my local retailer, but i see replacements on amazon and ebay around 50 eur. I know i could replace the touchscreen only but it seems very risky, so i'd prefer to replace the whole screen instead.
Thanks !

The two ebay screens I've ordered were both blems with air bubbles trapped in the film. They worked though. I've got pictures of them somewhere.
So I just bought and installed this one a week ago:
etradesupply dot com/oem-lg-nexus-4-e960-lcd-screen-and-digitizer-assembly-with-front-housing.html
And it was worth every penny. My digitizer had cracked in the bottom corner, but was fully functional. What I didn't realize was how scratched up the glass was and how much the oleophobic coating had worn off. The new screen, digitizer, and frame from etradesupply was perfect. No bubbles, the glass was curved on the sides, and it is just as responsive as the stock screen. I was really worried about it not being up to OEM standard. The installation was very easy. I have read some replacements not having a filter over the LED and light bleeds out, but this one has the filter. 5 stars, would buy again. I did alot of research before hand, and have heard many horror stories of Ebay replacements, but this one really worked out well.

glass replacement advice

I just bought a used one that has some cracks in one corner. However, touch functions work perfectly. I am seeing replacement front glass on the Bay for around $10-12, is that all I really need?
I would probably pay a shop to do it. I've damaged lcd's before doing exactly this. Being to firm and aggressive. The whole thing including lcd is $90.
That is almost half of what I bought the phone for. Initially I bought this for only the camera and use as data device (google-fi). But I am going to switch this device as my phone-phone. I was using Xperia XZ1Compact which I love, then to note9 now. I have big storage but I hate the size, weight, balance of the phone. And it is slippery, I've dropped it a lot, cracked outter back lens. I think I will repair that then sell it. Maybe use that as data/alternate. its 1tb
