I once had access to the skip track forward control from the Active display.
I updated Play and now its gone.
The displayed controls are "Thumbs Up, Back, & Play/Pause."
I have since tried to revert back to an old back up, but I cannot get the controls back to they way they were.
Anyone know how to get it back?
Whenever Motorola decides to get off their asses with updating the Pure, 6.0.1 fixes this issue.
Unfortunately I don't remember the last version of Play Music doesn't have the thumbs buttons.

Since installing ROM 1.66 I've noticed when I try to turn up the volume when playing music it changes the track instead. Is this an error?
I take it no one else has this problem then.
It is an error, yeah. I believe that HTC intended to have the volume buttons skip tracks under certain circumstances, like when the phone is in standy (for example). I don't know for sure - I'm just assuming that the functionality is there for a reason!
When it happens to me (which has been about 3 or 4 times in nearly 3 months), I just move off the music tab and then back onto it and the problem disappears.
Give that a go. If it works, it's at least a workround till it gets fixed proper.
Yes moving off the music tab does seem to correct it and when I've gone back to the music tab it now appears to be working. It's only since I updated to 1.66 this has happened.
Not a big problem but I hope they patch it soon.
Thanks.
Last night my gf asked me "How do I turn media sounds on? Youtube and my games aren't working." All the volumes (notifications, system, media) are turned all the way up, and nothing. Notifications, ringtones, and alarms work just fine - definitely NOT a hardware issue; media only plays through the headphone jack though. That would be annoying but apparently media includes in-call volume...I can hear her but she can't hear me; she can use the phone on speaker or with an earbud stuck in one ear but it's not exactly practical. She wants to take it in to Verizon, but what little info I've been able to find on the Razr M specifically is showing it to be a software problem that just keeps happening and happening.
I've tried all the fixes I've found in the Maxx/HD/general Razr forums; wiping the cache, killing Play Music, unrolling Play Music updates, putting phones in and taking them out, pretty much everything possible without rooting and trying a sound routing app. We have an available upgrade on a third line but I'm trying to hold that one out for the springtime Big Thing, any help here would be AWESOME!
If it's still stock and under warranty, I'd just take it into Verizon. I mean, if they'll replace it, then why not?

I figured it was probably a software issue (the speaker works fine, all other sounds play, just not media) and she was getting a little neurotic about even the few days for an exchange...so I SBF'ed back to 4.0.4 and wham, fixed nothing.
The new one will be here tomorrow.
I normally have my phone paired to my helmet with a Sena S20. I can normally issue voice commands, play music, take calls, etc...
Not anymore. On beta 3, it will only let me play music if I physically press play on the phone, which I can't do as I ride down the road with it in my jacked pocket.
The pause and fast forward buttons, don't work. If I enable Google now, I can tell it to pause music, and it will. If I tell it to play music, it won't. If I tell it to play music without the headset, it offers to play it but I have to click on the screen on the app.
Basically, Google now isn't doing most of the things it used to on other phones. And it doesn't let my bt device control the music like it should.
I just paired the headset to my wife's iPhone and it works perfectly.
It used to work on my essential, my op5t, pixel2 xl and op3. No longer works with the essential and I just did a clean reset last week.
Stock, no root. No mods.
Any ideas? I am trying so hard to love this phone but this and other bugs are making it really hard.

Update to latest Google now. Older version did exactly what you said.
Sent from my PH-1 using XDA Labs
It says its on the latest version. I don't see anything newer in the play store?
SOmehow I got the controls on the headset to work last night on the ride home. Not sure why it was messing up but it now appears to be watching. It might be some sort of conflict with my Android Wear watch. Maybe only one device can control audio at a time? I dunno...
But this Google Now/Assistant problem happens with both Android Auto, and when my phone is just sitting on my desk not connected to anything.
Normally I tell it "Play Music", and it just shuffles the 500 or so songs that are downloaded as MP3's onto the phone, and it plays them through Google Play Music... If I tell it "Play Bruno Mars" it just automatically plays all the Bruno Mars songs... Same with Android Auto.
Now when I tell it those commands, it just brings up the google play music app and I have to then push buttons and play what I want. It's all manual, which defeats the entire purpose of "hands free"... When on Android Auto and I give the same command, it will try to play something from the cloud rather than what I have on the device, but it never does, it just sits there spinning...
I don't like Samsung or any of the devices with curved edge displays... the Pixel2 XL is great but the screens from LG are crap. The OP5T is brilliant, but doesn't get VoLTE on AT&T, so no HD Calling or voice and data on LTE at the same time... The Essential is solid hardware wise, but plagued with it's own bugs and now apparently this Android bug... If I can't get a damned flagship Android phone that I like, that actually works properly... I might have to go back to an iPhone... I can't keep dropping hundreds of dollars on phones for them to "sorta work" or or lack key features...
What can I do to solve this issue, if its saying that I am on the latest version already?
What I am finding is that this is a problem going back to October? Google changed Assistant, so that you can no longer use voice commands to play local music on your device hands free, unless you pay for a subscription?
So, not an essential bug, it's a Google Assistant thing where they now want you to pay $10 a month to be able to use voice commands to listen to the music that you already own. What BS is that?
Google, soon to be out Appling Apple... LOL

Hello,
recently, actually 6 months ago, i bought a pair of BT headphones and i finally became pissed with random cut ofs when listening to music. I disabled the power managment thing, that in my opinion only annoys you, for spotify. But guess what it still cuts of at random but when i am watching a movie there are no cut ofs. So i think it has something to do with the power manager still trying to stop something. Any idea what should i do to fix this?
In the power management menu, hit the 3 dot menu button for further options of screen lock settings for apps. Maybe that?
Which music app are you using? Look at audio focus settings and buffer. Maybe it cuts out when a notification sounds? Also look at developer settings for anything relating to BT. I would test with more than one BT listening device too.

I use Spotify and Player Pro for music. I looked at the lock screen cleaning and I am even more confused with what is written there. English isn't my native so that might be it or its because there is bad wording.
Where can I found the "audio focus settings and buffer"?
Notifications are not it I was paying close attention to it for awhile and when it happened there ware no notifications.
About other BT devices, when I get a chance to try others I will definitely try, but I don't think it's the headphones because watching movies with MX Player works fine.
G'day Mousman, I recently encountered something very similar after upgrading to the latest B10 firmware on A2017G.
Spotify would stop after only a couple of minutes once the screen was off while playing through bluetooth. Its not the BT turning off because my car headunit shows it still connected, and if I tell the display to stay on permanently it doesn't stop.
I had my phone in Performance mode in power plan settings and all power optimistions off for spotify but had auto start on. Still no dice.
Today I changed the power plan to Smart power save and it didn't kill spotify. Only had a quick car ride home but so far so good.
Perhaps you should try switching your Power Plan to the opposite of the your current setting?
UPDATE: This really does seem to have fixed the issue for me, cannot understand why though... Anyway I feel like a factory reset would have sorted it also I've just been to slack to do one because I'm waiting for Oreo.
I am also waiting for oreo so no factory reset right now. And I have it on the smart power mode so I will try performance for a couple of days. One thing I noticed is when I change the settings for Spotify back and forth, flip the switch on and off, it works really nice for a day or so then it goes back to cutting off

Interesting, since I switched mine its been working well for the past couple of days, I hope it stays that way. Let me know how it goes for you.
I figured one thing about the audio and that is that it only happens in certain places. The other day I was at home and it never happened but it always happens in one spot when I walk home.
ROM: Lineage 14.1, Android 7.1.2
Issue: put phone in pocket, take a few steps, Google Play music opens itself and starts playing my most recently played playlist at full volume, regardless of whether media volume was previously muted or not.
This is a huge hurdle for me being able to use my phone at work. I've tried using greenify on Play music, to no success. Ideally I'd like my volume buttons to be completely disabled unless the phone is unlocked, any idea how to accomplish this, as well as prevent apps from opening themselves while the phone is locked?
Looked into it a bit, might be a response to a mediabutton event? Any idea how to disable this?
