are you checking the MD5SUMs?
i am a newbie but i tried flashing a couple diff ROMs after using GFREE to root my MT4G..
you wiped out your DATA, Cache Partitiion and Dalvik Cashe after reboot into recovery.. hmm.. try wipe out the data again.. read somewhere it was an option to wipe it out again to ensure its clear.. that might help
maybe the ROM your installing is bad.. try a different one that you know works?
thought the engineering bootloader installed prevents situations like this..
Whats the md5sums and how do i check it?
Recently my D800 has been acting up with random freezing then rebooting, to horrible battery life. I am so close to resorting to a factory reset but decided maybe wiping the cache and dalvik may fix the issue. My question is, with being stock rooted with TWRP installed, is it safe to just boot into TWRP, wipe cache/Dalvik, then reboot? Or is it only necessary when flashing new ROMS/kernels etc.?
Thank you!

Just wiped cache/dalvik cache. I shall post an update once I get a full day's use out of it to see if the freezes stop and battery life increases. If not, looks like i'll be factory resetting. thanks again!

Basically you should always flash a custom ROM on a stock one,
so flash a stock samsung ROM (make sure there is no secured bootloader etc...)
then wipe and install, i always do that :good:
Have you mounted /system?

if you followed your instructions the rom wont boot
you need to mount system data cache after you have wiped system data cache so it should be the following
wipe data
wipe system
wipe cache
mount data
mount system
mount cache
install zip from sd
select rom zip
restart

you still need to mount system data cache after you have formatted it
you also need to be on a stock based kernel
9 time out of 10 if its not booting its due to user error
The only other thing that would stop it booting is an incompatible baseband but I assume you are on a recent one and therefore should have no problems
How do I flash from L To a custom AOSP KITKAT? Do I need to flash the factory image at first or I just boot into recvoery and flash the cutom rom?Did anybody know? THX!
To be safe, you'd do a factory image flash. That way you know you have a good starting point. There's the boot image, including the ramdisk, and radio (depending on what platform you're running on) that would have changed.
Or, if you're feeling lucky, clean wipe and flash your new ROM. What's the worse case scenario? You have to do it twice.

The safest way is
Download L port
factory reset once
wipe cache dalvik
flash ROM
wipe cache and dalvik again
reboot
done,
Gapps included.
I never got problem with these steps.

Hey,guys,I have just ask the L's developer ,he said that the L he developed uses the same baseband and bootloader as the Kitkat,so there is no need to flash a factory image at first , instead ,we can just directly flash the Kitkat aosp ,Thanks for his kindness!

That's what he meant. Format system and data. You'll find that option on the custom recovery.

You just need to get a flashable one and your good to go. Just wipe system, data and caches and flash it. I tried both ways by recovery and by script and its the same experience. But if you follow the script and flash through PC you'll surely lose all your data.
I have a weird issue with my N9005 (hlte). I just got it new and am still a little inexperienced with flashing it. Preblem occurs when flashing ANY CM12 based rom. Flashing works well with TWRP 2.8.5.0 but once Android booted just after enetring my PIN the display turns off and I can't do anything and have to hard reboot my phone. CM11 runs without any issues
I'd relly like to go for CM12 so any help will be appreciated.

If you read installation instructions from temasek it says clear dalvik and cache. For good measure. No full wipe after flash. Only cache and dalvik
If i full wipe my phone after flashing ... i got no System at all ...
It looks like -> this <-

Haha I did correct myself and told you to not full wipe after flash. Only do that before flashing. Wipe dalvik cache and cache after flashing.
Do a clean install and try again. Full system, data wipe and caches in recovery. Use twrp doing that. Then flash and wipe cache and dalvik. Reboot. Use the latest build 8.7
