my ext.sdcard suddenly corrupted and even after formatting phone not recognize that card and also other new cards also not recognized. these messages were came. anybody have idea ?
I have the same problem. Try to take off the simcard lot. Thinking the card was on the volt...rip
Same problem
Actually I am having the same problem with my phone.
Anybody any ideas??
After format to fat32 memory card work fine with otg adapter but when put in side the phone phone says memory card corrupted and ask to format. While formatting gives error. I think this problem is from the phone , not from the card. Anybody know how to give permission to phone to read external storage ?
After. Googling, i check vold fstab in root of my phone, there is no file. I think that missing file is the cause of external. Sd card currupted error. Anybody has any idea? Or that file?
I found that in my phone's root/storage /public-179-64 seen as external storage with permissions drwx------ , anybody have any idea to proceed further ? I'm not able to change permission, even after change it , come back to this permission only (I'm rooted. On rr 5.7 rom)
When i try to fix my sd card issue , the platform file is invalid and there is no WRITE-EXTERNAL-STORAGE found. Anybody have idea to fix this?
You seem to be getting the same issue as me. The sd card seems to be unmounting/ejecting. But for some reason the card can still be read from, but not written too. I know when this has happened to me because I can browse and view files with a file manager on the sd card but if I try to copy or delete a file I get permission denied message. Also if I take a picture the moto camera app crashes. A reboot is the only solution.

I cant see th ext sd card in file manager. I need platform.xml file. Where i can found? In firmware?
The sim/sdcard slot is very fragile. If you ever tried placing the tray in the wrong direction those contact pins will damage and wont make contact again. I know this because my sdcard slot is damaged since yesterday and won't read any sdcard anymore . I was in a dark room and couldn't see clear and placed the sim tray in the wrong direction and pushed a little to hard before I noticed. Luckly my micro sim card is still working.
me di cuenta que en el file manager de TWRP se puede entrar a la sd, inclusi copiar archivos, hay esperanza?

I don't know when did this started happening actually, I flashed a number of roms in the past couple of days, but I can't get rid of this stupid notification and its really driving me crazy!
When I mount my SD card so I can transfer files from PC and the unmount I get the error "Damaged SD Card - SD card damaged you may have to reformat it"
The thing is reformatting does not solve it, and when I have this notification nothing that accesses the card works (music, photos, astro..)
I tried reflashing my rom again which made the error go away for a while but after some mount-unmount I have it again!
I have a non-branded HTC magic (32A) with Cyanogen 4.2.3 and Enoch theme and RA's recovery image and NO apps2sd
Any help?
Thanks
fixed it
Okay I got it to go away, I formatted from the recovery menu (fat32 only)
and I turned off the swap file and uninstalled the swapper app.
No problems so far!
i've found that rebooting the phone makes the sd card damaged error message go away
and that rebooting my pc actually solved the problem of the pc not seeing the sdcard
but that may just be temporary, i dont know
Strange SD Card!
When I mounted my SD Card I was receiving an error and was asked to Scan or Continue. I chose scan and then it looks like it mounted fine. I can view all the folders and files but if I try to copy any files to the card or try to create a folder I get an error saying the Drive is not available and it is no longer mounted. I put the card in a card reader and I received the Scan option again and I scanned it to fix any errors but it doesn't find any. I then can copy, delete and modify anything on the card. I put the card back in the phone and mount the card. No issues until I try to copy, delete or modify and it unmounts and will not work. I have the original T-Mobile Rom and I have not rooted it.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
With no reason my SD card don't appear anymore in the file explorer, but i'm able, thru usb, to transfer files from pc to the card. Done soft reset, hard reset and the same...
it happens with the 2 sd cards i have...
does anyone know why? thanks in advance for any help

I had major problems writing to my sd card in ubuntu. Althought this isn't explicitly linked, i found that there was a problem with the file system on the card (hence why ubuntu would only mount it read only) so it might be worth running a file check on the sd card and see if that helps
Try doing a hard reset. It should fix the problem.
I ran fix permissions and it ended with no errors. It then suggested to reboot the phone. I used quickboot to reboot the phone and when it came out, the SD card (16 KB SANDISK) card is reported as having errors and might need to be reformatted. I put the card in the card reader on my pc and it looks ok. I can see all the directories and even copied a 2GB map file to the pc with no issues.
Any ideas on what is causing this and how to recover without reformatting?
Thanks.
Rom Manager & SD card failure
Windows 7 did not help in any way, but a reboot to XP allowed me to scan the disk and fix any errors. Back running, case closed, but I still don't know why it happened. There is a fix permissions file left on the card, but for the time being I just going to move on. NTF, you can kill this one, if you want.
i cant access my 8gb card anymore
it shows as there briefly and then dissapears. i cant access it via the pc usb cable either.
ive tried another sd card (2gig) and it works fine. so im sure the issue lies with the card.
is there any application which may overcome this issue?
I have similar problem with my 8GB card. With original (2GB) card everything is ok.
When i access certain folders the Storage Card disappears from file explorer?!?
The only way to reapear is to restart the phone.
The only solution i found is to format the card.
Then everything is Ok for couple of weeks.
After that again corruption in the file system appears.
use the panasonic formatter.. it should fix it
So about a week ago I downloaded new version of icecream tosti's ICS rom (v0.6) and booted into CWM to mount my sd card and move the zip file over. I noticed that it was taking longer time to move the file than it usually does but I let the process finish. I unmounted the card and went to install the zip from sd card but couldn't find it. I tried to move the file again and again but couldn't get it to copy the file onto the sd card. I tried moving files from the sd card onto the computer but that was not possible either. It wouldn't show me errors and complete the moving process but it actually didn't move anything. I thought there was something wrong with the sd card so I tried formatting it... no success!
I have used easues partition manager, mini tool partition manager, hp sd card utility, panasoic sd card formatter, tried formatting it through windows native options, used disk management, even tried formatting it through CWM but i kept on getting the same error, can't format. I was placing the micro sd card in a usb card reader and sd card reader in order to format it through computer. I have also tried using different computers but that didn't solve the issue. The problem is that every time I try to install a rom it reverts back to an older revision of the rom with old settings that I set before. It seems to me some how the sd card is locked in a previous state and it is write protected and won't let me format it.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can solve my problem or does this mean the sd card is gone and I have to buy a new one?
I have exactly the same problem after using NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.3. It seems this sd card was frozen, nothing on it can be changed. If I copy a file to it on computer, it shows copy successful, but that file cannot be read, and if refresh it shows nothing have changed in the SD card.
Anyone have any idea about this?
I have three broken micro sd cards now, two from WP7 and this one from ICS.

I waited a couple of weeks for someone to answer on this forum and tried all methods possible to format the sd card or revive it somehow but no luck so just recently purchased a new sandisk class 4 sd card hopefully this one doesn't go bad either. I just wish I knew why it was happening so I don't repeat the process again and end up damaging the card.
Have you tried to format with MAGLDR and after it on windows 7 pc ?
I did that, also followed this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283232
Contents on this sd card just refuse to change.
is there a solution to this coz im having the same problem and cant find a way to fix this
you can do it by this software's :
HDD Low Level Format Tool
MiniTool Partition Wizard
EASEUS Partition Master
Partition Wizard Home Edition
.
.
.
.
but i dont know how create swap and ext4 partitions on sd .
This happen because you formatted the card on the phone. I never recommend to format on the phone the cards but on PC. Try the application I posted on computer with FAT32 in 32768 unit size.
