users of the vk810 are currently prepared to fork over $135+ to the Developer that produces a working L build, doesn't have to be 100%, but it needs to have the basics; data, GPS, wifi, etc... Any takers?
BOUNTY SET TO $135!!
Note: I sold the tablet and am no longer in the bounty. Sorry.

I'd be willing to donate as well. Getting the tablet free. Should be here tomorrow.
I will add $10 if it has working LTE, Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth.

All of those things should be covered with the $100, we'll just say that we have the bounty set to $110 or so. Anyone want to put on top? Lets get in touch with a developer to get this rolling!

we have a semi-working CM11 devicetree/kernel ported from the non-LTE model (LTE data/GPS doesn't work, everything else seems to work)
I'm still trying to understand more about kernel development/porting, just not much time to look at it...

Why do you want Android 5.0 so bad to the point you want to pay money? I'm mean specifically, what in it is such a big deal that you need it NOW?
Why not just go buy a Google Play Edition if you want Lolipop that bad?
There's more to life than obsessing over having the lastest O/S version
Well a bounty is less than a gpe tablet lol. So there's that.

users of this great, underestimated beast of a tablet, that for some reason LG dumped some unoptimized garbage on to it, then "replaced" it with tablets with WORSE hardware, are really missing out on what this tablet can do. What it needs is a build that will run perfectly on it. Furthermore if it works half as good as it should, it would be better than what LG is currently doing with it.
Lets get a dev to get 4.4 working with radios, and we'll go from there. We may have to wait for a dev to pick up this device, with that; I am also willing to allow the dev my device as a start.
I'll add 50 to it
I would just like to see CM11 or CM12.. The tablet would run so much better.
It's starting to look like a significant amount of people are buying this tablet with the recent promotions by Verizon. I really hope that a dev can pick this up and see if they can get us a working ROM. I'm in the process of prepping a server to do some of my own ROM builds for the LG G3. Wish we had a working base because I don't have the knowledge to do anything but compile the builds.
Even a custom kernel would be nice so we could boost the CPU back to the 1.7 that the other models run at.
I'll kick in $20 for this. Would be nice to be cm12 or even GPE rom with working data (or not at this point).
I just got this tablet from verizon about 2 weeks ago, I dont consider myself a dev in any shape or form but I have done enough to know what can break my device and what cant, a while back I successfully ported a rom to a cheap Chinese tablet I owned a while back, I am going to look into porting a (hopefully) lollipop rom to our VK810, gonna take me some time and who knows if I will even be successful, just wanted to let everyone know someone is trying..... I will let you know if I make any progress....
Prepare your bounties guys !
Development is in full swing. We'd see some love for developers in coming weeks !
I'm wondering.
Since Samsung as of late have been focused on getting everything pushed to Lollipop, do you think we'll see some opinions about an update, or even rumor?
Maybe the full thing, who knows.
im interested too but...... i dont think its ever going to happen. samsung dont seem interested in the device at all anymore.
Given the cameras never even got KitKat it's very doubtful they will get Lollipop
If you ask this to Samsung, I expect them to say this:
"Galaxy Camera?"
"Isn't that that gimmick we released a couple of years ago?"
"An update to lollipop you say? Whahahahaha!"
"No."
But seriously: It never got past 4.1. I seriously doubt they would even consider this device for an update.
Samsung officialy stopped producing the K Zoom and put it EoL
so, no Lollipop or other updates anymore, even for exploit fixing
confirmed: no update
Galaxy camera 2 has stagefright!

If you can get a seasoned developer to work on it, sure. I set up a device tree for the GC200 at https://github.com/AWildColin/android_device_samsung_sf2wifi six months ago. I was trying to encourage some development on it (*cough* @Decad3nce *sneeze*) by getting a custom recovery working, but everything I built and flashed resulted in black screens and I never found a way to troubleshoot exactly what was causing that to happen.
Frankly, I'm not an experienced enough developer. Maybe with a lot more free time, I might get some where, but a custom recovery is still a far cry from a stable CyanogenMod ROM. You're welcome to try though. https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_porting_intro

If I'm not mistaken the GalCam1 and GalCamNX never were upgraded from 4.1, and the GalCamNX was an almost $2000 camera. So no, I don't anticipate that Samsung will upgrade to Lolipop.

Nope. The device tree is still on Github though if anyone wants to mess around.
we really need a Cyanogenmod rom for this camera desperately.. . what people dont seem to realise or care about for some strange reason, this camera has now a nunber of very serious security vulnerability that samsung has not addressed, it is so bad you should not connect to the internet with it.
im going to try to sell mine. pretty pissed with samsung, they never once realeases any security updtes for this camera!
So our phone, is really good, we got cm 11 and cm 12 running, so why don't we have the more special roms? Like flyme os (http://www.flyme.cn/en/) or ubuntu touch? Sailfish os. Most of these, roms have their source released, so for people to pick it up, shouldn't be hard right?
Sailfish os - https://sailfishos.org/develop/hadk/
Ubuntu touch - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Building
Flyme os - Well it's builded for the nexus 5, but aren't we able to port it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/official-flyme-nexus5-kk-4-4-flyme-3-8r-t2875908
And admins, please do not movie this topic, as it won't get as much focus.
bump!
I'd be interested too, what comes to mind is hardware limitations and lack of sources from LG to build on? I have for a couple of months and I still haven't wrapped my head in all the info, but I think we have some limitations as I mentioned above. Someone who's more informed can correct me tho

The issue is that LG does not release the source code for LG G3, whereas the nexus 5 even though it is manufactured by LG, people have the sources for it. So developing all these different roms is not as easy as you think, we have only just got MIUI rom for this device and it is not even official. its not a SD810 btw.

Im not being mean at all, you're failing to understand that its not easy to just port roms, and its not even about porting roms, there has to be enough demand for it, devs need to have the device and not all devs do because they move to other devices, if it was an easy process then there would be loads of other roms, but the majority of roms are now Cyanogen and aosp based because thats the easiest way to as they have the sources for that.

I never ported a rom, but i saw some guide on porting a rom, where you would take something from the rom you want to port, and some from the base. So i thought it was like that! I'm so sorry, if i said anything mean to you Hope you have a great day :highfive:
Porting isn't the way you would want to work. For the best results you would need all sources and complete documentation of the hardware to be able to build a rom for a device from scratch.

There is no "simple" ROM.
You can't just put another phone's ROM to G3, it doesn't work like that.
In PC world, you can install Linuxes and Windows operating systems mostly as you want, but in mobile, things are different.
So if there is no port for the custom ROMs then why not features like Download Booster from the Galaxy S5, this is a possibility maybe it is hard to do but give it a chance, just an idea that I like

As Robin2 put it ealier, you would need sources that aren't available.
The Rom porting procedures have been becoming more and more complex with time. Elements like drivers, framework, and so forth are much more complex comparing with Gingerbread. A rom by then used to be 300mb (stock), nowadays we got 1gb roms, much more "little things", overal, it's a lot harder and more complex. You can easily compare, there used to be more ports with gingerbread and ICS than with KK and L. It's a lot of work required to make things happen, even with the same chipset, there's still a lot left to do, specially when we're talking about lack of sources available to make a porting happen and much more complete.
Also, when we're talking about porting a stock rom from HTC to LG, gets worse. manunfactures put a lot of customization (not only GUI) into their firmwares, much more proprietary stuff, much more complexity comparing with a "simple" CM12. It's porting 200mb comparing with 1gb of custom elements. You get the picture. Unfortunatly it's harder than ever and so time consuming and not always with good results. Sources are literally a requirement these days and we don't have them (or don't have them all).
In case you guys haven't figured it out yet, development, Imo, is dead. There isn't stable root, no rom development outside of slightly modded stuff to change your status bar and the most recent breakthrough was substratum... Which wasn't even meant for this phone but rather the s8 but it still works. Now I use and love substratum but I really want an aosp/pixel rom and stable root and Xposed but I don't think that any of this is coming ever. I could be wrong. But I'm tired of buying locked down Samsung devices because of this. This seems more like a rant but it's more of a psa to developers who wanna help the hopeless. Ya know?

I didn't do enough research before buying S7. Coming from Nexus 6p this is really foreign to me. I saw s7 had root but didn't look into the 2 different processors, all the different carriers (it doesn't matter on Nexus devices.)
Far as Development goes...its probably not going to happen unless someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader. Next best thing might be Safe Strap but afaik there's nothing in the works.
For now I'm making the best of it. I'm having a decent experience with the Eng kernel. Currently looking into the nonrooted Rom. My hope is I'll be able to make some changes (like installing viper) then switching to the stock boot.img and trying to make those changes stick. Supposedly it's possible but I'm still trying to get some guidance. Experimenting with this phone sucks because the process for root is pretty long then setting everything up THEN it might not work so back to square one.
Especially once done with purchase plan or contract (should you have one) and out of warranty. After that point, it's mine to do with as I please! (I know, should be able to do it whenever, but I'm playing by their rules for a minute.) So it's already BS for those who bought first few months and have paid off.
Personally, what is driving me crazy is battery drain. I'm running about 144k on AnTuTu, so no major complaints with performance, but plugging it in more than once a day sucks. Power drain when I'm not doing anything: sucks. I know it's all this useless crapware running in the background, even tho I killed some with Package Disabler Pro. Just addressing that would improve my mood. If AT&T is trying to ensure we'll all look very carefully at unlocked phones next time, they are doing a bang-up job.
I'm back on Verizon after switching to Sprint back in 2008. So I recently picked up a mint condition Verizon Note 4 so I could have a little fun building a new Note 7 port ROM. Many of you may know me as the creator of the Ultimate Note 7 ROM for the Sprint Note 4. I'm here to tell all of you that I've been working on a new Ultimate Note 7 ROM for the Verizon Note 4. It is nearly ready for public beta release! With the experience I have porting Samsung Touchwiz ROM's. I figured it is long overdue for the Verizon Note 4 users. My port ROM has official and original Verizon Note 7 framework, apps, etc. So instead of trying to make international port ROM's work, which is no simple task unless you know what you're doing, get ready for a true Verizon compatible Note 7 ROM. Those of you who still have your Verizon Note 4 and want to get more life and use from it with a fresh look and feel, look for a new ROM thread soon.
I need a few reliable and knowledgeable testers. If you can help troubleshoot and test the rom, please install Telegram app on your PC and your phone and join my Hybrid Port ROM's group so you can have access to the the test ROM and join the rest of us who are ready to get this thing going. See you there!

The S8 and N8 ROM's are Nougat 7.0. The N4 has been cut off at Android 6.0 and doesn't have official Samsung Nougat 7.0 kernel source, therefore the Snapdragon N4 can't run Android 7.0. ROM's. If this was possible we would have a lot of excited dev's continuing to build 7.0 TouchWiz ROM's for the N4. Unfortunately Marshmallow 6.0 is all we have for the N4 so the N7 Marshmallow software and perhaps some ported S8/N8 apps is as good as it gets for the N4. What i'm doing is building a solid N7 base ROM for the Verizon N4. Once it's ready I will upload it as a stock base rom. Other dev's can use my base to build out custom ROM's with mods, ROM control, Xposed, etc, etc. This will eliminate the need to fix any network related features. It will all work as it should. International N7 port ROM's are not compatible with the U.S. CDMA carrier's features. This is why we need a true Verizon N7 base rom. I know it's a little late and many people have upgraded to newer phones but if there's still users here wanting to run a proper Verizon N7 ROM, this will be it.
With this said, I welcome any and all testers and dev's to pitch in and help test and troubleshoot minor bugs. PM me if you're interested in helping with this. The ROM is 100% complete and operational but I'm working on minor bugs with a few system apps.

I realize the Note 4 has been cut off at Android 6.0, but how are devs able to come up with a 7.1.2 ROM for it? User hsbadr has three: LineageOS, ResurrectionRemix. and EmotionOS (this one seems to be discontinued). I haven't used any of his ROMs for quite some time, because they seem a bit buggy, to me, but that's beside the point I'm getting at. How is he able to make a 7.0 ROM and others can't seem to? That said, why wouldn't an 8.0 ROM be possible?

Hello, I am still rocking the note 4 Verizon. And I will be keeping it as long as devoted members such as yourself put out great roms! That being said I would like to be a beta tester if you so need one. I have a little knowledge in troubleshooting and the like, mostly my expertise is in repairing and building phones. I have a whole closet that's devoted to phone parts repair, and computer systems repair. My last few phones I have held on to until the dev section went quiet, note 2, Moto atrix, moto bionic... they were awesome with deodexed/rooted roms... I am addicted to flashing new roms to find the right balance between performance and battery...
By the way, one slight request, when all said and done fixing most of the bugs, don't forget to make sure the rom has a kernel that is compatible with extended batterys. Most of us holding out with our outdated note 4, usually have those huge batteries hanging off the back...lol

I really don't mess with kernels. That's not really my forte. If needed, I would just ask someone to build one. But since there's already one available and it happens to be from Verizon source I will use it and give credit. But I may request a new kernel from the latest source once I get the rom ready.

I think I may have the CQL1 source kernel ready. I've been running it since Tues and was thinking of posting it soon. If you, or anyone else, wants to try it out you can download it here.
The source code is here for those interested.
The changes are the same as the ones for the 910F beta kernel that was posted the other day.
Change Log:
Backported the 3.18 Linux version of Interactive Governor
Add patch for USB fast charge
Add Sound Controls- so far this hasn't negatively impacted anything but it's definitely the change I'm most concerned about and will probably make a separate version without this in the future. Be careful with this. Had my earbuds in and it gets very loud.
LED fade control
Completely reworked the thermal temperature control. So far the temperature has been throttling down pretty good when it goes above the set temp. I've been setting mine on the lowest setting.
Added zswap control
Extended Battery patch is included
On a personal note, I'm very excited to see a port rom that's not built with an international firmware. If there's anything I can help with let me know. My skills are somewhat limited but every now and again I can get lucky.
Thanks Kevin. What I want to do is get the stockish base N7 ROM done then see if there's somebody who wants to take it to the next level and add mods, rom control etc, etc. I know a lot of people like the custom mods, xposed, etc but these days I really don't care for that stuff as long as everything works as it should i'm happy. So if you know of someone who could take on that task once I get the base ROM finished, then that would be great for everyone who wants the custom stuff. And I can take a break. I'll pm some of you once the test build is ready. We'll need to test the basic functions like bluetooth NFC, wifi, etc. It should all work because i've ported these roms before so I know what all i have to do. I'll get the test rom ready as soon as i can as time permits. I'm going over framework getting it debugged and making sure it's a smooth and zippy as i can make it.

I'll get the test rom ready as soon as i can as time permits. I'm going over framework getting it debugged and making sure it's a smooth and zippy as i can make it.

I don't use xposed anymore... too much of a hassle to get through some apps that look for it and are diabled from xposed...
Couple brainstorming requests, or something... lol
the people Edge should work properly... I've had so many TW roms that are half done and people Edge is boinked..
Something with note 7 roms and task manager is buggy on note 4...
There is a fingerprint work around for ported roms, if we could get a good, understandable write up to make that work, that would be appreciated.
TW launcher should be themeable... some ports I've tried have that boinked as well.
The brightness on some ports has an issue with not dimming, or high brightness when in sunlight and darkness...
Mostly stock feel and look is quite nice though.

All of the things you mentioned will be working, except fingerprint scanner. That is a lot harder to pull off and will be the very last thing on the to-do list. If it could be made to work other dev's would have figured it out by now without the N4 settings apk swap trick. But i will definitely try my best to get the fingerprint scanner working with my verizon N7 ROM. With Kevin's custom kernel this will be an amazing ROM for the Verizon N4! It's coming along great. It's raining all day today so i'm inside hammering away on the ROM.

I kniw it's tricky with the fingerprint, I was just suggesting an easy unified post of HOW to do it on this new rom you're making

Well it's never been accomplished by anyone as far as I know. I started working on the fingerprint scanner fix for my sprint UN7 ROM but I abandoned it due to the complexity and the time it takes to do it. It wasn't worth the amount of time and work. This is why it hasn't already been done. We'll see how it goes but I seriously doubt fingerprint scanner will be working on initial release. it's probably my biggest negative on running the N7 port ROM. I use fingerprint lockscreen even though it's the swipe method.
