[Q] - s7 (exynos) vs s7e (sd820) battery life comparison? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

the s7 is supposed to have shorter battery life than the s7e, but most such comparisons are done using the same chips. does anyone have experience with how these two fare, when you compare a exynos-driven s7 (which should be more power efficient?) vs a SD-driven s7e? is the difference in battery life less noticeable?
i have a s7e (sd820) that has pretty good battery life, but after a few months with fat-palming the "edge" repeatedly and finding the phablet size a bit too clumsy, i'm thinking about hopping "down" to a s7 instead. local retailers stock exynos-powered s7 vs sd820-powered s7e's
will repost this in the s7 forum as well - mods, pls let me know if this is not permitted

Battery life on i9506

Hi,
I am planning to buy a phone and I find it difficult to choose between LG G2 and Galaxy S4+ i9506. From all the reviews of snapdragon 800 phones, it seems they are battery friendly which is why I feel that the s4+ should be much beter on battery than the regular s4 i9505. The LG G2 would have been a no brainer for me except that they omitted an sd card slot. But I eard the batery life on it is really amazing.
I usually check battery life on gsmarena but it seems they will not do this for the i9506.
Can someone that have this phone please make a battery review?

Replace my G3 with Note 4 ?

Hi ,
I need your help !!
Have G3 for few months already and now consider moving to the Note 4 .. what do you think ??
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP
I moved to Note 4 and I'ts not such a big improvment, if I had to pay for Note 4 (I've got mine for free) I would like to stay with G3.
I have both and the G3 is more portable. The only advantage the N4 has is the stylus. Music quality is better on the G3 compared to the Snapdragon Note 4.
In my opinión its totally worth it.
Screen is much better, better battery life (g3 sucks) and most of all i find the g3 is not fluid at all.
The only thing that i like Best about the g3 is the size factor.
The gpu in the G3 isnt good enough to provide a stutter free experience, while the device also seems to overheat easily. Battery life is far worse than the note 4 too.

I find the screen of the g3 to be washed out

I disagree, I got 57 hours of battery the other week on a single charge. The G3 has a great battery.

Yeah, and you could probably get 200 if you put it airplane mode and don't get 1 km near it.
I didn't say the autonomy of the g3 is bad, it's not bad. It's just worse that other flagship.. I guess if you came from an old decide it's not bad by any standart but compared to z2, z3, note 3, s5, m8 etc... It is inferior

I agree my G3 with the latest firmware has good battery life
recently sold my g3 (used it for 4 months) for a note 4.
G3 rooted, note 4...not yet
some comparisons:
Screen:
I like the screen of the note 4 better. Blacks, vibrant colors.
Battery:
G3 could give me on average around 3 hrs screen on time. I even got a 2nd battery and it was the same. The note 4 can give me 5 hrs screen on time..so far.....we'll see if it continues...
Speed:
I never really noticed the lag on the g3 that many people complain about...so..in this respect...they are same..for me.

I've owned almost every flagship phone i even currently own a oneplusone, m7, m8. and the note 2-4 and next to the note 3 (i thought the s5 battery was terrible) the G3 comes second on my personal list of opinion. I guess it depends on too many factors to judge, for example xposed modules like Force Deep Sleep Mode and Permission Manager you can easily double your battery life. If you dont watch and fix permission and wakelocks any phone will die pretty fast haha.

Yes, I agree the total autonomy depends on too many factors and sometimes it may be hard to compare.
That said I use almost the same consideration in every smartphone and that should make a pretty fair guess of the stamina of one compared to another.
... and with this the g3 got me considerably less battery than my actual note 4 and my last z2 and Note 3 before them.
On my Note 4, I have a faster experience and better battery life. Those two factors pushed me to return my G3 and purchase the N4.

[Q] S4 or OPO - which one is preferable (battery life and performance)?

Hi everyone.
Thinking of getting either the international version of the S4 or the OnePlus One.
Will save some bucks if I get the S4.
With a new battery and MM custom ROM (are there stable ones?) I was thinking this might be a good device.
Or as owners would U say I should add a few $ and opt for the OPO?
Thanks a million!
don't know the battery size of oneplus but the s4 benefits from carrying a spare or using a high capacity battery. opo has a much better CPU. always go newer for me...

Thanks for that input. The OPO has a 3,000 mhA battery and since I am a light user, lasts me 2 days (running stock CM 13 MM).
I guess battery wise the S4 would be a downgrade then. Carrying an extra battery is not an option for me as I will lose it within a week
it's hard to judge but if you're getting two days usage out of 3000mAh then you should be OK with 2600mAh to get back to a charger again. roms with alucard's kernel can be underclocked and or undervolted as well as being run on a power saving profile. that said I'm sure opo has similar options available...
You can also get a 3000mAh battery for the S4.
That being said, it really depends on how high the price difference is.
I personally would go for the OPO, because of the better specs. But I dislike the fact that it has no card slot. This is pretty much a deal-breaker for me.

Double your battery life (and possibly even triple) through a hardware "tweak"

Double your battery life (and possibly even triple) through a hardware "tweak"
Hi guys, I'd like to share a trick to increase the battery life of your SGS6 by 2x and even 3x but the 3x I will only test in the second week of March.
So I am trying to endure using the SGS6 because it's becoming a pain in the ass hard resetting it, installing an "optimized" ROM and installing all the "great" and "recommended" app tweaks or xposed modules to increase battery life and reduce lag...
Now for the battery life, I finally found something that works and it's actually pretty simple and it will work without having to install, reset or change anything to your phone's software...
Just change the battery to that of the SGS7!
The Samsung Galaxy S6 actually has a larger space allocated for a battery than is necessary for the battery of the SGS7 so it fits fine even though the SGS7 battery is a bit thicker!
And when I was using my phone at about light usage, I got 9 hours 30 minutes out of the SGS6 battery (which goes down dramatically when I'm using it more frequently) I have doubled that time by simply buying a SGS7 battery and using the phone the same way I did last time! So I'm at 20 hours of light use with the SGS7 battery installed in my SGS6.
Now I mentioned that the battery of the SGS7 is smaller than the compartment of the SGS6 is. So what I've done is I bought the battery of the SGS7 Edge (which is larger than that of the SGS7) and I will see if I can install that battery in the SGS6!
If that would be possible, I expect at least 27 hours of light use since we're moving from a 2600mAh battery (SGS6) to a 3000mAh battery (SGS7) to a 3600mAh battery (SGS7 Edge)
I'll update you on whether or not the SGS6 can fit the SGS7 Edge battery or not, next week!
So this is my little trick to drastically increase the battery life of your Samsung Galaxy S6 and I'm doing this so I can endure using the phone a little longer until the iPhone 8 comes out cause I'm tired of the great phones that use the ****ty Android OS (Android really ****s up any phone... just look at the specs of the SGS7 and that of the iPhone 7s and even though the SGS7 has better specs and a much better battery, the iPhone beats it on all aspects when looking at the user experience... I rant on more about why I'm going to switch every Windows and Android product I own in this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71264869&postcount=19

The battery being thicker leaves the S6's cover close normal ??
And of cause it is totally simple to change the battery and it's safe to not burn your device... forget it.
There is allready a thread in the accessories departement. I have put an s7 edge battery in mine and it works wonders! The only thing you need to take into account is that the s7 edge battery is 1mm thicker than the s6. What I have done, is I used multiple layers of tape to fit the backcover.
I have the battery installed for 1 month I think, and still no issues. Check the other thread for more information and experiences of other people.

Better using the money otherwise spent (wasted) on a "genuine" battery towards saving for a new phone.
Also works with s6 edge? Any difference ?

It does but that is an extremely hard phone to get apart, and if you crack the screen it costs about the same to fix it as it would for a new one. Not worth the risk imo

Nope, the s6 uses a different battery. The connection is not on the same side sadly. On the s6 it's on the top left and connects on the motherboard from above, on the s6 edge it's on the right side and it comes from under the motherboard back up on the side of the phone. So it's not that easy.
I already search all kind of battery's from other Samsung phones but did not yet find any which looks kinda the same.

Thinking of getting a s5

How's the battery life on the s5 ? Thinking of getting one but was curious about battery.
Also how's the custom ROM scene for this phone?
dont buy it
stick with s6/s7/s8
they are better in both hardware and battery life
