So here's the deal... Motorola has crippled their phones, kept their bootloaders locked, and directly mocked the same people that bought their hardware essentially telling them to suck it. However, in today's social environment we have a way to fight back hard, and others have already discovered this. Go on facebook, like motorola's page (I know, its horrible, but we have too), by liking you'll be able to post in the comments of every moto post. Find every single god damn post by motorola and post the message that you will not be buying another motorola product as long as they keep the view of controlling the hardware you paid for. Tell them you will be spreading this message to your peers, friends, and family. Make it public knowledge that although they build great hardware, their software sucks, and while on other brands this is not a problem as the developers can produce clean, fast, stable roms, this is not the case with Motorola products due to the locked bootloader.
Your task is set, spread the message, and check out all the comments on their page and see how well everyone is already doing on this. Be snarky, be smart, and make them pay in the public light. Find every blog post or forum post across the intertubes and spread the same message. If we can spread it everywhere both moto and the public with get the message. If moto does not concede then they will suffer for it.

Many of the locks are imposed by carriers and/or are selling points at the Motorola sales meetings. Carriers make so much more profit off a locked down device (lower overhead costs associated with supporting "one way" and by funneling customers through carrier premium services) that your best bet may be to start buying unlocked devices so motorola sees that aspect of the market as profitable.
Talk does very little compared to dollars. I totally agree with you that locked down devices suck for some consumers-but proprietary is just where the money's at :: cough Apple :: and the people who make decisions like this are just watching the bottom line.

They are doing it because it is the bottom line yes, but if we make it very very apparent that its negatively affecting the bottom line, publicize it heavily, than we can work against these factors. Saying it's not helpful to consumers is bull****! I personally have recommend many many android phones to all my friends, family, peers, rooted them all, installed way cleaner and faster roms and in general made their phones and experiences amazing.
i installed win 8 about 3 months ago . at the first month everything was working great and i was satisfied .
but somehow , the apps on the start screen stopped working . i mean , i click them and they wont open . and ONLY when i hit the store app , there's that startup screen of the store (you know , that animation when u enter the app) and then crash . please help me , it's REALLY frustrating .

please help me , im not advertising this site and im not related to him except that im a member there ..
Step 0: Hang your head in shame for feeling entitled to the work of others for free.
Step 1: Buy a copy of your software. It's not only the right thing to do, it's substantially more likely to *work correctly*!
Step 2: Install the legit copy, overwriting (preferably via reformat) the pirated one.
If that doesn't fix your problem, people may be willing to offer more help at that point. However, be aware that XDA-Devs is a DEVELOPER site. It is absolutely not a general-purpose tech support site (people are encouraged to support software they release on here, but that obviously doesn't apply). The fact that you're not entitled to normal tech support channels due to having failed to actually purchase your software does not make you in any way entitled to free tech support from the hacker community!
As a side note, while you may or may not have actually crossed the line in the letter of XDA-Devs rules by posting that link - that's up to the mods to decide - you (in my opinion) violated the spirit of them. Just be forthright and say "I pirated the software" if that's what you did. You may not get much help (of the sort you're presumably hoping for) by doing so, but you're less likely to get reported and/or infracted too... If for some obscure reason your software *is* in fact legitimately licensed even though you downloaded it from a warez site, that's great, but that's quite the opposite of the obvious situation, and you'll have to convince us of that if you want more help (or at least convince me, personally, if you want instructions which amount to more than "pirated software is bad, ok?"). Remember, this is a dev community. While many of us, myself included, publish our work on here for free download and use, that is our decision. Many of us also earn our living via commercial software...

I really understand you . it's just frustrating that you can't buy some stuff that off your budget . also i got a ton of bad reviews and i wanted to try . i totally appreciate your hard work and im really grateful for you guys . any way that i can delete this post ?

also i see a lot of free dl and i apparently thought that's a pirated site .please accept my sorry to you .

Apology accepted. Honestly, I do sincerely hope you find a solution to the problem. For what it's worth, there are trial copies of Win8 available. They're for evaluation only - you have to re-install the full version if you decide you want it - but if you want to try out the OS on your own hardware, that's a better bet. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx . Also, at this time, you can get Win8 Pro for $40 USD on http://microsoft.com. That's a limited-time thing - I didn't even expect it to continue into the new year - but if you want to get the OS for cheap, that's the best way I know of.
"Hacking" in the sense of doing cool stuff with software and hardware, not breaking laws. For example, we're working on finding ways around some of the limitations in Win8, or discovering hidden features, or sharing fixes or work-arounds for problems before Microsoft can fix them. The last part may look like tech support, but there are a couple major differences: the discussions are usually of the sort of "I did these things because I wanted to try X, and now Y doesn't work... anybody have any idea how to get it back?", or the request isn't for "my system is broken" so much as it's "I used to be able to do X on previous Windows versions," or "I expect that there's some way to do Y" with a request for help figuring it out... and/or the thread actually starts with people offering a fix that they found, rather than a request.

You should edit your first post to remove the link; the XDA rules are that you cannot post links to pirating sites.
I think its really amazing that a moderator hasn't removed the link by now.And livebeat should really remove it himself else he will get infracted.I have not yet reported the post as I really believe livebeat made an honest mistake but if he doesnt edit his post ill be forced to.
Just one note regarding warez, completely aside from the ethical aspect of it. A pirated OS is one of those things that, if you care even the slightest about the security of your own information, you probably shouldn't be playing with.
That being said, it sounds as though you may have relocated your ProgramData. That is just about a sure fire way to kill the store and modern ui apps.

Indiegogo Campaign (closed): http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-i-watch-smartwatch-the-new-intelligence-life-is-here
Some History
OK, lets get some difficult stuff out the way first. There was a previous thread about the AI Watch, that went a bit off the rails. with claims of it being a scam or a clone and counter claims etc. It all got rather unpleasant.
The thread got cleaned up a bit and locked by a moderator. I thought it would be worth opening a new one, since I am very interested in this. I've discussed it with a moderator and got the green light.
BUT
Please keep it civil, on topic and avoid attacks etc. Moderators will be keeping an eye on it and take action should it start going off the rails again...
For those that have concerns/questions, they can read the old thread over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468854
As far as I can see, it isn't a scam or a clone. Others may disagree... That's not what this thread is supposed to be about.
For what it's worth, I placed a Pre-Order for the watch after the Indiegogo campaign closed. My card was not charged, only an agreement was set up to charge me at a later date.
I asked A.I Watch what the intentions were regarding charging me and was told they don't intend to charge until the watch is ready to ship. And there is an option on there to request cancellation.
So despite a bumpy start, it all sounds genuine to me...
When will it ship?
Excellent question.
My understanding is that the initial Indigogo campaign aim was to ship End Dec. 2013 (some campaign backer are are going to be getting jumpy as you would expect). But there has been a substantial overhaul of the design since the start of the campaign (for the better) and so the schedule has been pushed back.
At the time of posting, A.I Watch are not comfortable with committing to a new date yet. Which is not what we want to hear of course, but is arguably better than constantly giving dates, then changing them at the last minute and repeatedly letting everyone down.
Thinking of placing a Pre-Order ?
UPDATED 18/01/2014:
Initial round of first 100 coupons finished. But got an email from them. The important bit:
"but I decide to continue and create for XDA community members new coupons.
I create a new coupon for Developers only : They will need to write me or to A.I Watch Team a email with a little portfolio about their latest apps developments.
They will able to choose any A.I Watch model they will want and they will receive it Rooted with the SDK.
Second coupon is for all the XDA Community Members, they will need just to send to A.I Watch Team (contactATaiwatchtechDOTcom) an email with the model of their choice and will receive back a Special XDA coupon."
I'm assuming if you can show a genuine Dev. angle, then you get a bigger discount voucher...
If you fall into that camp, may make more sense to just sign up on the forum as well and send him a PM.
Finally, if you are wondering why some of the language is a bit wrong. It's a French company, and the English is better than my French...
And with that, let the (good natured) discussions begin
UPDATE (03/05/14):
New Video showing final working design.
Latest Prototype. Pic taken at CES
A.I Watch described as "a quick picture of the first CNC on my wrist, its still not the final model is a appearance sample to see where are all the defaults of the ID/MD"
Good idea Zuber to start a new thread, and even a better idea for you to handle AI Watch PR on XDA Everybody already expressed their opinions, so let's just leave it in 2013, and start 2014 with actual updates about development progress, latest pictures, and videos (especially videos!!!)

Old one was locked for obvious reasons, the device is interesting and I want an unaffiliated forum to discuss. Using the Omate forum wouldn't be appropriate and A.I forum would be too restrictive.
Been on and off XDA for years and it's a good site to discuss Smart Watches !
Put an initial pic. of 'progress' as you put it. Hopefully we see some more after CES.
I think more (unsuccessful) PeaceKeeper than PR Agent
Great job Zuber. Mine is ordered as well, I saw potential with this watch since I read about it early December. The Quad core processor and camera flash/flashlight did it for me. The look of the watch may not be for everyone but I feel its well suited for my taste. It's a nice blend between sporty and classy. I want to be able to wear it to the office and on my morning run.

Also please note that they will be not charged until there A.I Watch will be ready to be ship.

Closing of that thread has nothing to do with Zuber opening a new one. It was a decision made by XDA admins, so you should contact them. Beside, if you think about it, that thread was related to IGG campaign of the original AI Watch version, while this is a new all updated version outside of IGG. Makes sense not to mix these two together.
NEW IMAGES
Not the final product some component improvements and adjustments will be made to accommodate the wrist.

Not sure what the big deal is here guys ?
Old one started and finished is it a scam or not, got somewhat nasty and got locked.
I want to discuss the watch, not is it a scam etc. and got the all clear from mods to go ahead and create a new one. I've made a point of explaining some of this and linking to the old thread so people that are interested about any issues can can read up on it.
imho... - Anyone interested in placing a pre-order can feel as safe as for any other new company and product.
If you have still have concerns about if the product is a scam or whatever, feel free to open another thread on the subject. Note, as was mentioned, I am not a moderator and had nothing to do with the old thread being closed. You might want to check with mods first.
RE: "I see no point in this new thread and its unfair on me too"
Apologies, don't want to take away from your efforts. At this point I'd like everyone to know that credit should go to you for whatever it is that you think the credit should go to you for
Seriously, though. If it upsets you, please feel free to open another thread and I'll post on there. Maybe we can ask a mod to delete this one or something. As long as it's to discuss the watch, not is it a scam etc. Alternatively, we can discuss the watch...
Maybe threads can be merged?

As I said before, the decisions on this forum are made by Moderators. It has nothing to do with what I say or what Zuber says or what you say. Also, I think you took it a bit too personal when that thread was closed; even so it was started by you - that consequent action of locking the thread had nothing to do with anything you did personally. We are all members of this community and post according to rules/guidelines. Mods monitor these threads, and if they see things getting out of hand - THEY make a decision about how to proceed, doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with me. So let's just end this argument here because I wouldn't advice questioning Mods decisions, and lets focus on updates from AI Watch or any other new or upcoming smartwatches. OK, bud?
Camera is now confirmed to be full Autofocus 5MP Camera not a 3MP interpolated to 5MP fixed focus like Omate's

Definitely maybe. Don't pin your hopes on it. If all the hype on KitKat is to be believed, then the 512MB Ram shouldn't matter so much.
Dear friends I am owner of beautiful gold 32Gb/3Gb LG G3 D855 Eu, on V10h software.
*Last night I have e-mailed LG customer service about our right and our wish for bootloader UNLOCK on our G3, 1 our ago I got reply:
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Hi TeaOverclock,
Thank you for your email regarding the G3.
You’re right, we would love to release the boot loader on this phone.
At the moment this is something we are looking into but not something that is a priority I'm afraid. The main assumption here on our side of things is that unlocking this would make rooting the phone much easier, and thus void the warranty on peoples phones. I'm sure you understand that not everyone is as tech savvy as you are and there will be complications as a lot of information is available on the internet which would cause damage to peoples phones if we made it easier to use.
At the moment I cant guarantee that we will unlock it, but as the phone hasn’t been out that long we are more interested in working out the kinks in the software generally than unlocking this. Sorry, maybe in the future we will allow this, and as more and more people are asking for this its becoming something that we may have on our next phone from the beginning. I hope you’re not to frustrated with this answer and that you enjoy the G3 if you have one already.
To reply please click the link for “more questions” at the bottom of the Email by the survey.
I hope my email has answered your query and assisted you today; I would really appreciate your feedback. Please help us to improve our customer service by completing the short survey after this email.
Thank you in advance

Regards fellas
Thanks for your efforts mate. At least it's not a closed "NOPE" as previous users have obtained from LG. I hope the campaign in change.org and so make LG consider their position.
Well. When i emailed lg Canada 1 month ago they
Just simply said they couldn't tell me and wait for any future announcement.
So im pretty sure every country has a different email response. Some say no no and some say dont know or then the stupid once say dont know what ya talking about.

Umm don't they know we can root it with an app in 2 minutes....that makes their argument completely irrelevant.
They are saying clear no, this is just positive writing.. damn lg people. rooting is our choice and we are accountable for this..why the hell lg has to worry. I hope developers are working for some kind of bootloader exploit. It's a shame Lg people are just fooling us with no clear answer.
This email stinks. I don't think LG preps/service employees put random Uppercase words in Sentences and fail to write words like can't (cant/can't). Also the way it's written just looks like it's been done by an 17 y/o who makes his first real formal letter to somebody.
I'm not saying it's fake, but this is just a piece of text we cannot rely on.

Dear LG customer support center;
We would like to get the opportunity to unlock bootloader in LG phones.
(By we, I think on 90% od LG G3 D855 owners).
After we got the possibility to unlock some LG phones like P880, we lost our freedom again, flagship like G3 is locked again. We need the proper way to unlock our phone, like we can on HTC, Sony or Motorola ones. We pay for the device, we want to have the control over it! You are pushing us to go and find what we paid for at other doors( Sony, Samsung, HTC, Motorola...)
Please think about Your customers.
Sincerely,

The reason that LG is so wary about people messing up/bricking their phones & asking for warranty is simple: LG has never implemented a proper root/flash detection mechanism in their phones like HTC/Samsung has. Its way easier to undo everything and make it undetectable for the warranty-checking-guys at the service centre. Had LG implemented some mechanism that they trusted, they would've released official bootloader unlock solution much sooner(if they do eventually).
Bootloader unlock & rooting are essentially rights that the consumer should have if the device has been paid in full but there should also be a way to protect the manufacturer from being held liable when someone does something stupid.
What still continues to baffle me though is that LG having worked on two Nexuses with Google, should really know better about the impact of the dev community & what modding means to us & to Android as a whole by now. I realise majority of the consumer population does not dip into flashing/rooting, but its a very major part of what makes Android special. If LG really intended to make G3 its flagship and had trusted the device, I would've expected to see a Google Play Edition & developer support on the device, especially considering the facts that HTC & Samsung have already done it & LG has a good relation with Google.
Anyway, I really did think that LG would grow into a company that supports the developer community looking at their devices in the past two years, but from their stance on the matter of G2 & G3 I'd say they're not really concerned.
All that being said & ranted, I'm very thankful to our devs here for giving us root so soon and hoping they'll get some breakthrough on an unlock or eventually release a loki-like exploit soon. I keep saying this in many threads, but I still can't wait to run AOSP based ROMs on this beautiful device. When it does come, its going to be amazing.
LG do not understand, knowing what the community wants and who has had apollo and Google nexus.
Quite the same as they told me a bit earlier:

Hi TO,
Thank you for your reply regarding the Boot Loader on your phone.
I am sorry that you are not satisfied with the answer that you have received.
The reason we advise against "unlocking" the bootloader, This is "locked" to prevent "third party" software from corrupting the handset and causing you any problems or rendering the unit "faulty". I can certainly feed this back to the relevant department to state that you are unhappy with this, but I am sorry to say at the moment this is something we would advise againt doing.
I hope my email has answered your query and assisted you today; I would really appreciate your feedback. Please help us to improve our customer service by completing the short survey after this email. To reply please click the link for "more questions" at the bottom of the Email by the survey.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards

New Zenfone 2 Model spotted: X551ML
More info on International Business Times
IBT is nothing but a spam clickbait rag with terrible labor relations, a spotty reputation and something vaguely resembling the corpse of "journalism".
I did a Google search for that model number and Zenfone together and only got sites sourcing IBT or copying their print wholesale.
If it is a new model, it seems to be India specific variant.
Please let's make a conscientious choice as a community to not give IBT traffic and page hits or click on every rumor article.

Hello there! Well, then sorry for my post. The funny part is that I usually spot inaccurate (with missing solid references) media articles, but outside the tech world. Related to tech, I think that the only clickbait websites I came across, may have been some related to tutorials.
My guess is that the X model is actually either ZX550ML (the upcoming Zenfone Zoom - which I guess will run on the same ZF2 firmware, as I already see some files related to Zoom in the system) or a different version of Zenfone Zoom like maybe "ZX551ML"
